Do not use this awning company. They say they’ll give you a “free estimate” for repairs. I had an awning with a broken shoulder. I called and told them the type of awning I had and that I needed it fixed. They came out and charged me for a service call which would be “deducted” from the cost of repair. Service man said as soon as he arrived that “this is not are awning and i dont think we can fix this unless customer wants to buy new awning”. I had to call another company that immediately told me they repaired my type of awning AND I had to pay $200 to Laurel even though I called to explain the situation… so much for the “free estimate”.

The company did everything on a timely bases from Vince coming out and assessing our current awning, estimating the cost, and installing the new awning. The ladies in the office were so nice scheduling our appointments and answering any questions. The awning was made in a timely fashion. The installers including Khaanan were polite and efficient. The new awning fit our old framework perfectly. The price of the awning was better than competitors. We were pleased with the overall experience. Thank u Laurel!

I am rating Laurel Awning a one star company because it is the lowest rating I can provide. From the outset, Laurel has been an arrogant and unresponsive company. We have had the opportunity to utilize their services twice and each time we have been met with an unresponsive and a devil may care attitude. Our initial exposure to Laurel was for the installation of a retractable awning. We met with the sales person and he did measurements and the pattern for the awning was selected. The salesman indicated that it would take a number of weeks for the material to be ordered and fabrication to be completed. Once completed, we would be contacted for installation. Weeks turned into months with no contact from Laurel. My Wife contacted Laurel and they stated that the canvas we had selected was out of stock and that the would installation would be delayed. We thought it was odd that we had to contact Laurel to discover the delay. Fast forward 18 months and a summer storm damaged the awning. We contacted Laurel to arrange for repairs. Their salesman arrived, spent 5 minutes looking at the damage, no pictures, few questions and left stating he would send an estimate/contract. We were also told that if additional repair items were identified they would be billed as an add-on. A few days later the estimate/contract was received. The document contained no details for the repairs but did specify a gross amount. We requested details on the breakdown between parts, labor and services to be performed. A breakdown was provided for parts and total labor, no specifics on what services were to be performed. The awning was repaired after providing a 50% deposit. Total time spent on repairs was less than two hours. We received a bill for the balance but were surprised that there was no adjustment for the labor since the total time spent was less than 2 hours and they were charging almost $800 for the labor. They also, didn't adjust the bill for undamaged parts that were quoted but did not need replaced. This is were Laurel's arrogance showed up. We began contacting Laurel in July and numerous times in August, September, October and November. We reached out to Laurel well over a half dozen times without a response. Finally, Laurel sent a bill marked past due ignoring our requests to discuss the issue. So after debate between my Wife and I, we decided to remit what we thought was a fair and final payment to Laurel. Again, time went by and Laurel had not cashed our check so we called to verify they had received the check and were told that they often have a delay of up to two months on their mail. We again asked for someone to call us back to discuss. Again, the only sound we received were the crickets chirping. Finally, a week ago my Wife contacted them and we discussed our issues and described to the receptionist our frustrations with trying to deal with the company. I also asked for the general manager to return our call. Finally got a return call after a week and reiterated my concerns about the excessive labor costs and no adjustment for parts that were not replaced. Was told that it was our problem and Laurel sees nothing wrong with charging nearly $400 per labor hour. So, to shorten a long story, I will pay the balance of the invoice and vow to never utilize Laurel Awning again. In the future, if there is a failure with the awning, I will remove it and scrap it before I ever put up with the arrogance and total lack of customer service that I have witnessed from this company. I am writing this as a warning to future potential customers. Please be careful when dealing with this company, they have no concern for you!

I have tried reaching out to have work completed for over a week. I keep getting transferred to different voicemails and have yet to receive a follow up phone call. Then I was told I had to prepay for the service visit (which is $200) and even after paying that fee last week, no one has contacted me regarding the work. I recommend visiting other options before contacting this company

Laurel Awnings is a great company to do business with. The sales rep that came to the house was very professional, kind and understood the project we wanted. We were out of town when the installers came out to install the metal awning. By the time we came home the project was completed and looked great. New awning put up in the spring of 2023. Take down in the Fall, 2023 at which time it was damaged by Laurel Awning, and allegedly repaired by Laurel Awning. 2024 Spring put up showed pin holes through out the awning fabric 10 feet by 10 feet . Vince viewed damaged awning. I filed a warranty claim but have not yet received any response! I have a window awning that is over 10 years old and it has a few worn areas with some ripping but no pinholes, so at one time Laurel Awning used good quality fabric. I USPS mailed the warranty claim which Vince said he didn’t receive. I emailed the warranty claim which Vince said he can’t read. I have previously USPS mailed another hard copy of the claim. So I will wait for a response. Unbelievable

Steve and his helper put up a new awning for our deck. We did not know they were doing this today therefore the deck was covered with decorations—plants and hanging baskets. I was not at home when they arrived and they assured my wife they would move everything that was necessary and return to its original area. When I returned the installment was almost complete and everything in place. Also, seems the new awning fit more precise and neat than the previous awning! RGG

I would offer 10 stars if this option was available. When Vince (the salesman) visited with us I was impressed with his knowledge of the awning he was selling and the content of material and samples he brought. We had discussed with other awning companies the size and length we wanted (18 ft wide with a 12 ft extension) and it seemed they could not satisfy our expectations. The professional service he provided regarding the contract was very professional and well organized. Lastly when Steve (the installer) showed up, he and I walked through the install (ours was difficult). Our wall was uneven due to our fascia stone and it was elected the mounting would be placed underneath the soffit and secured to the roof trusses. Again superior installation by Steve as I am very precise when it comes to an installation.

We added a deck to the rear of our home in 2022. As beautiful as it is, we found it to be too hot in the Summer of 2023 to enjoy fully. We did extensive research on what we wanted, how much coverage we needed, and were any additional add-ons (bells and whistles) appealing to us. Laurel Awning Company was a known Company by our Deck Contractor so we opted for a site visit and quote in October of 2023.
The visit by our salesman, Vince happened within a week of calling to schedule our appointment. We had a rough idea for the budget we wanted to stay within and the prices through other Companies didn’t fall within our anticipated spend. Vince listened to us discussing the expectations and needs we hoped to gain from a motorized retractable awning, took measurements for the coverage area, approximately 10’ x 25’. We were able to select from a variety of colors and patterns and found the perfect design that would match our home and deck. Within 30-45 minutes, we agreed that the price fell within our budget and agreed to the purchase.
Pittsburgh winters can be harsh, deck time is very limited so a Spring install would suit us perfectly. April 8, 2024 our deck was ready to be installed. We received a call from the installers, Steve and Andy mid-morning, letting us know they’d arrive in about 90 minutes. Within about 3 hours, our awning was installed. Steve and Andy gave us a brief tutorial on the do’s and don’ts regarding operation and maintenance, cleaned up after themselves and the job was completed. We are very pleased with the awning and the whole process from the initial visit through the install was effortless.
About our awning, we opted for the motorized retractable awning only. We did not include wind sensors, lights, etc since we already have lighting on our deck and hot tub. Also, the awning will never be open during a windy day. The awning can be manually opened and closed in the event of a power outage as was well explained by Steve and Andy during installation.
We are overall very satisfied working with Laurel Awning Company and would recommend them if this is something you are considering for your home. The price was fair, and their work was exceptional start to finish. We look forward to using our deck a lot more this summer!

We’ve been with this company for years and have experienced good service overall but this year I am not sure what happened but half of our awning running against the house wasn’t installed properly, leaving a big gap for the rain to get under the awning. It is very obvious but we’ve not been out on the deck much so didn’t notice until now. And now after being with them for many many years they want to charge us to come and fix their poor incomplete work!!!! This is not the service we expect after many years. I don’t feel valued as a customer. Also, I left a voice mail but got a
response in an email. They didn’t even have the decency to return the call. May be looking elsewhere next year!!!

We had a retractable awning installed a few days ago, and had a great experience with Laurel Awning Company. Steve and the rest of the crew were nice and efficient, and they took the time to explain what they did, how it worked and laid out the necessary weather-related precautions. Because of our setup, half of the awning was mounted to siding and the other half to the roof. Everything looks clean and works great, and we’ve enjoyed it each day so far. I highly recommend this company if you’re looking for a retractable awning.

Laurel Laurel Awning was a great company to work with from start to finish, everyone was friendly and professional. From the salesman, who brought a sample of the product out, so we knew exactly what we were buying to the installer, who was very thorough and professional. Our new awnings just survived the first storm of the season. And I say this, because this isn’t the first awning we’ve purchased We had a bad experience with another company, and they were unwilling to do anything for us. However, Laurel Awning save the day. I’m very pleased with my new step down aluminum awning. The entire process was handled very professionally from start to finish. Steve & his helper Cheyenne did an excellent job installing the unit, & even came back a few days later to install a new piece of flashing, when I noticed the first one was bent on one end. Customer satisfaction is obviously high on their priority list, as it should be. Everyone involved at Laurel Awning should be commended for a job well done. My house now has a whole new fresh look!

Not very satisfied with Laurel Awning. I have called twice to discuss my concerns with a manager and the receptionist takes the info but no one calls me back. My awning started leaking after just a few years and I was told this is likely to happen after being cleaned. This year they mistakenly cleaned it again although I specified on the contract I did NOT want it cleaned so I asked if they could throw in the water repellent which I never heard back on and now it is leaking worse. Defeats the purpose of an awning if everything underneath gets wet when it rains! Very disappointing and poor customer service.

Steve & his crew put up my awning about two weeks ago. They were amazing! Very personable, professional & worked as a team. Each person knew exactly what to do when!

My awning is older & was not made by Laurel Awning. I was having a few issues with leaks where the awning met the gutter. Steve thoroughly explained what they were going to do to rectify the problem & showed me the area that might not be as leak-proof as they would like. By no means was that something they did but a structural awning-gutter issue from a few years ago. Steve told me the TRUTH & was HONEST about what he could & could not do about my leak. How I appreciated being treated with dignity & respect!

I had Laurel Awning Co. install an aluminum step-down awning over my back door to replace the really old one that was there. The installed awning looks great, is of high quality, and was perfectly installed in a timely manner. Furthermore, I did have to have a replacement piece ordered (because the original arrived with a couple visible dents/dings in it) and the customer service was absolutely fantastic!! In this day and age where projects such as this often go awry, it was such a relief and pleasure to deal with a company that stands behind their product 100%. Many thanks :)

Purchased a new awning from them, waiting long for them to make and install. When they installed they ripped it we didn't notice until we removed it. When we called, they said we must have ripped it. Thank god I kept the old one, which was over 15 yrs old that didn't have the rips. So they took the responsibility of repairing it back in oct 2022 and to this day we have not heard back from them. Good luck to anyone using this company. Make sure you either have a camera recording them or simply find a better company, more responsible one.

Switched companies for take-down storage service when they raised the price over 19% with no explanation. When I called to find out, I was told "I don't know, I just work here". I then mailed Gregg Schmieler (General Manager) and never got a reply. I gave my business to another company.

UPDATE on Response from Owner: Wow! I post a review in September of 2021 and *BANG* eleven months later, Laurel replies. Since when is a 19% a slight price increase? Note also, in their word salad of a response, they never address the customer service concerns raised about the "I don't know, I just work here" comment and the fact that I never got a reply to my email to the general manager.

I have never felt so outranged and misled by a company in my entire life.

(please look at my below photos to understand why. They are photos of my original email to Laurel Awning describing what I wanted (a very minimal awning), an email from Laurel stating, "my manager seems to think we can do something like this", and then the final photo is a picture of what Laurel Awnings gave me). My house now looks like T-Mobile.

The sales rep came out to my house during the winter. We discussed what I wanted he even had photo examples. He drew me a design to which I agreed.

A month or so later Laurel Awnings sent me a CAD design from the welder that I had to sign in order to proceed with the order. I reviewed the CAD design and thought everything looked fine. I was focused on the shape, color, and design of the awning. There were dotted lines on the CAD drawing under the structure which to my knowledge I thought represented the volume of the structure not that it was indicating these would be eight metal support structure bars! Why would any company do this to a residential home? no one else in my neighborhood has this.

After installed and horrified by what Laurel Awnings did to the front of my house, I expressed my disgust to Laurel Awning over a very slow process the past few months (once they have your money you can feel the sense that they don't care about you).

My sales rep was the only person I had contact with from the company. He 100% agreed with me that the support structure was excessive and he knew it was wrong. He fought for me with his manger to help me out. The reason he did this was because he felt bad, he knew what I received wasn't what we discussed. He advised that I walk around my neighborhood and take pictures of other residential awnings so he could show his manger, which i did (on my Friday night) but I got another F-you, you signed the CAD drawing from the manger. The sales rep also advised that I call another company to ask them to help me since Laurel's position is F-you, you signed the CAD drawing.

My sales rep advised that his manager and Laurel Awning's position was that I signed the CAD drawing from the welder. My position is that I'm a first time awning buyer misled by this company. I'm not a developer, contractor or a welder and the CAD drawing was very misleading. I trusted my sales rep and this company to take care of me. They had photos and examples of what I wanted. The support structure wasn't even on my radar as an issue of concern.The sales rep even admitted to me that Laurel Awning's does not give him the CAD drawing to review, for if they did he would of told them that's not what I wanted. That right there is an internal failure.

A few weeks ago I got a text from my sales rep telling me Laurel Awnings is willing to build me a frame to hide the underneath support sturture. He said they usually do this for a price of $2100 but are willing to do this for me for $1200. That's just an F-you price. The original price I paid for my awning was $2700. Now they say for $1200 more they will give me MORE welding to solve the problem. I asked for more fabric even just to staple up there myself to cover this hideous structure but I haven't received a response.

They are done with me. Today I received the bill for my balance of $918 and they even added a late fee of $23 (how kind!). I would let it all go but since they are still seeking payment they will be getting 918 bad reviews from me in return. I will never let this go.

Don't do business with them! Inherited awning with purchase of house. They go to put up awning and break my spot light. The light is physically hanging off the house. When I asked them to fix what they broke they refused. Awning was all ripped when they brought it out of storage. They wanted to charge me $650.00 to repair with no warrantee, not even a year. I will say awning was older but still their crew is careless, ruff with moving porch furniture. Very poor customer service. Don't spend your money here. Rude and don't return your calls they just send bill in the mail 3 weeks later.

I wish I would have looked at reviews before using this company, so I am writing a review to tell others to use a different company. From my research over the various review pages - it looks as if the only good reviews are those where they are just making or putting up an original awning - not the maintenance over time. Our awning was put up with a tear in it this year and Laurel Awning responded (after several attempts to contact them) that they are not responsible for what happens when it is in storage. Why am I paying for storage then? I also agree with all other reviews that they have extremely poor customer service and shady communications on the repairs that are needed. Oddly enough when I really would have needed a repair - I was not called beforehand.

I've spent thousands of dollars for awnings from first Shuster and now Laurel. They are only mounted during good weather months, no snow or ice. In the past several years I've had far too many instances where the threading just came undone. Cloth awnings remain usable, but they needed re-sewed. Have they gone to a cheaper thread than previously used. Just frustrated and disappointed. These awnings are not cheap.

I called Laurel Awning to get an estimate on how much It would cost to repair some small openings where the seams are at. They are not very big and there’s only like three. They told me $70 an hour. That is high way robbery!!!! You mean to tell me they’re paying these people at least $30 an hour? My guess is they’re paying the seamstresses $15-$20, if that, an hour....Absolutely not crazy about that because it is way too expensive. Plus, I have to trust that they will not overcharge me because they say it took them a long time to repair even though they are only small. If you note all the reviews on here they are bad except for a few that just love stars. If I’m leaving five stars I’m telling you why I love them so much! You don’t just leave five stars. Looks like they had friends and family just put something in to make them look good. Just saying.......

Anyway, I called two other places and do not know what they charge since they were not there but I will find out. I’ll try to remember to post an update so everyone can see how much and if Laurel is in line with them.

We spent a total of $1,370 to get all services done to our awning this season, including take-down, storage, cleaning, repair, water treatment, and putting it back up. Our awning was by no means in bad repair, since we do the full services every other year; and we have Laurel Awning take it down, store it, and put it back up every year.

This price is already outrageous, but once they put our awning back up, we found out in the first rain that there is a significant leak coming through the center of the awning. I called a week ago to ask if they can do anything to resolve this, and they said someone will call me back. A week later, and no one has called yet. I called them again this morning, and was told to leave a message with "the guy who handles this stuff." I still have not heard back. This is the last time I will get awning services from Laurel Awning Company.
