Recommended Reviews
Bissette Roofing has my complete confidence. They are professional and trustworthy. They have done the roof on my family home twice. They do not cut corners by using substandard materials. Low bid is likely not the best choice when choosing a roofing contractor.
Initially, I worked with Larry Sr. I recently worked with Larry Jr. Both men are honorable. If they asked for them, you would see hundreds of positive reviews. They also have the respect of professionals in the business: builders, suppliers, etc.
I discovered a roof leak in an unfinished space in my house used for storage that we might enter 1 time a year. I just so happened to go in the attic to get something while it was raining and saw a leak. Very slow leak, and there was a spot beneath it where you could see a water ring. This could have been leaking for years and there’s no way to tell. Larry Bisset and his company roofed my home in 2020. My home is out of the builders warranty, and Larry states that his warranty is 1-2 years, which I understand. You can’t go fixing every room leak that springs up from the last 10 years, but I think that is only for work well done. Things happen and roofs leak, as Larry stated. I had a roofer come take a look at the source of the leak, expecting that a tile got broken from a storm or maybe some other natural cause. Come to find out, it was just a poor patch job, done improperly. I take pride in my work, and while I agree with standing by a warranty period, if I see that I or one of my people made a mistake or did a poor job, I don’t care how long it’s been, I’m going to make it right. I made that point to Larry who pushed the blame on painters which I thought was odd as painters don’t patch roofs, and he told me to pull my head out of my you know what. Picture below of the obvious bad patch job.
I never write reviews, good or bad, but I feel compelled to share my experience in hopes of helping others avoid the same frustation I experienced. We have used Bissette Inc. many times over the years, they were well-regarded and used by many businesses I know. However, those businesses, like me, will no longer use them.
When we recently encountered issues with a roofing job they installed, they refused to stand behind their work, citing a lack of help and availibility. Yet, they seem to have plenty of resources when it comes to new installations. It's very disappointing to see such a decline in professionalism, especially for a company that was once well regarded.
Based on my experience and those of others who have experienced the same frustration with Bissette not standing behind their work, please know you will be better off finding a more reliable/reputable roofing contractor. If this review prevents even one person from experiencing the same trouble we've had, then this review has done it's job. Once trusted - now unreliable. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere.
