After we had a wasp infestation under our siding we called in an exterminator to resolve the issue. They had to lift siding to get to the wasps and really mangled the siding. Called in John to see if it could be repaired or have to do the whole house (old house, aluminum siding). John took a look and said he could repair the siding and you’ll never know it happened. He was right, looks great. I fully believe any other contractor would have said to replace the siding.

John Knowlan is the best contractor we have worked with. Very knowledgeable, thinks ahead, listens to your preferences then gently guides you to the best choices, products are high quality, price is great, seeks deals for you where he can, always offers to return if there are any problems, very responsive. His workers stay with him a long time - a very good sign.

I recently purchased a 40+ year old home. As it is our intention to have this home as our forever home, my wife and I were very specific about the quality of newly installed products. After researching the local market, we decided to go with KCSI to replace all of our windows as well as two rear sliding doors. I met with John Knowlan and from the early stages, he was so patient with us. His crew came by once to install some of the windows as we were trying to fix one half of the home and then they came back to complete the job. A few days after the final install, we noticed some minor service issues. after calling John, he was so nice to accommodate the repairs within our expected time frame. BTY, their estimate was by far the lowest of all other companies who had also provided us the same exact products.
It doesn't end there. Our front door was badly in need of help. Once I spoke to him, he informed his crew to remove the old façade and replaced it all with new one. He saved me thousands of dollars avoiding the need to replace the entire door.
If this is not great customer service, I don't know what would be. I strongly recommend KCSI for any small or big project anyone may have.

We had birds living in our eaves and a power line mounted to rotten wood that took a lot of orchestration with Dominion and our electrician - KCSI came into replace the eaves, helped us coordinate the schedule, replaced the gutters and fascia boards and installed vented soffit panels. The work and materials are excellent quality and a big problem is now fixed forever. Great communication and highly recommend.

KCSI installed new siding on our house and did an outstanding job. Mike McCabe really knows his business including housing construction and it shows. I asked lots of questions going in and during the job and he was knowledgeable in his responses and it was obvious that he was experienced and capable (as are his employees). That was important to me because prior to talking with KCSI I interviewed a number of other siding contractors and a lot of them just wanted to sell me. I highly recommend KCSI.

KCSI recently replace a couple windows, a patio sliding door, and another exterior door. Their work was excellent, they were so respectful and clean, and we're very pleased with the overall experience! Mike (one of the owners) was so kind and easy to work with. He never tried to sell us anything, but simply explained what they could do and answered all the questions we had along the way. Communication was good throughout the process (even though we had to wait awhile for manufacturing of the doors and windows). Great value for the work they did. Highly recommend this team!

KCSI was wonderful. John and his team helped us on two gutter issues that turned out great. One involved bending a downspout around some stone work and the other involved replacing the end of a gutter to prevent a squirrel from making it her home. They were professional, courteous and reasonable with their estimates. I have even referred him to my mother for work on her house. Can't recommend them enough.

We needed the trim on our house wrapped and vinyl soffets replaced, as well as some vinyl siding replaced. John Knowland gave the estimate and was the most pleasant person to work with. His estimate was clear and detailed. When the crew came out to work on the house, they were very skilled and provided a level of workmanship that was above and beyond what we were expecting. They showed up on time each day and was able to complete the work in one less day than quoted. John himself, went above and beyond expecatations in getting replacement parts needed that were beyond the scope of the work. John at his team at KCSI are wonderful - he installed gutters, gutter guards, downspouts and new siding trim on my home two summers ago. He is incredibly responsive and took the time to provide a detailed quote and walk me through it. His installers were on time, neat, and did quality work.
This summer, birds (or some other critter) managed to damage some drip edge next to the gutters. Even though it was a small job (and even though it was not caused by any flaw in his workmanship), John's team made time to come within in a few days and reinstall the drip edge for me. While they were up on the roof, they also noticed a few other loose shingles and fixed those for me. They took pictures of what they were seeing and explained what they were fixing and why.

Excellent. We had a plumbing issue which required the siding and subsequent layers removed to access. John and his team came quickly, got to work, kindly worked out paperwork our insurance would accept, and then just as swiftly they came back to repair it once the plumbing was fixed. Highly recommend!!!!

KCSI did a great job with a number of issues. John Knowlan was very helpful. KCSI fixed damaged siding, a window that was difficult to open, and gave me suggestions regarding my brick chimneys in need of repair. They scheduled repairs to my large wooden shed. They advised me all through the process. Informed me of rain delays, and worked around my schedule to get the work done. John and his team did a great job repairing my old shed, replacing a wall, installing PVC boards and a gutter and downspout. The shed now looks new. KCSI did not try to sell me any work I didn't request. They were helpful, knowledgeable, on-time, communicative, and pleasant. They were easy to deal with throughout the entire process. I will use them in the future for roof, window, siding, and outdoor construction.

Mike and the KCSI team just installed new siding for my single family home (Feb '21). They worked around a snowstorm to keep schedule for us and other customers. They were flexible, courteous, efficient, effective, clean, honest, diligent, gracious, and priced fairly. Mike takes care of his employees and his employees support one another to deliver high quality results. We love our home's new look and I look forward to the low maintenance cost savings from the vinyl siding. They'll be my first call for a new roof.

I had a great experience with KCSI. They rebuilt a shed on my carport and put on vinyl siding as well as wrapped support beams in new material on the carport. Their work looks great! They completed the project in a timely manner and cleaned up all of the debris. They even put my tools back in the shed when they had it finished! John and his team are great. Highly recommend them.

KCSI is an excellent company. You would be hard pressed to find a more professional group of people. I rarely write reviews, but this one is necessary because of the outstanding quality of their team and work. They installed new gutters and downspouts and repaired some fascia and then wrapped it in aluminum. All work was done very well and I am very pleased. I requested that they extend the downspouts through my hats cape wall at three locations and with their can do attitude they did exactly what needed to be done. Icannot say enough good things about their work. I only wish I had known about them years ago. You can’t go wrong with KSCI.

Set up an appointment for them to come out to look at an exterior door for replacement. Company was very nice and informative during the appointment. Said he was a bit busy and promised an estimate within 1-2 business days. Instead it took more than a week and a half for them to reach out that a quote was available.

KCSI did an excellent job. They showed up when they said they would and finished in one day as promised. The crew really knew what they were doing from start to finish. We hired KCSI to replace the roof, siding, windows and doors on our 50 year old house. They have just finished and we were very pleased with the final product and the entire process. Mike handled the job from the estimation to the installation. The job was completed in a week and a half and Mike made sure all of our concerns were addressed while the work was being done. We could not give KCSI a higher recommendation.

John Knowlan and his team provide it all - quality products, workmanship and attention to detail. About a year ago KCSI replaced my roof and gutters. Recently some pesky birds decided to pry down a corner of fascia for a nesting spot. I called John for a service call. KCSI has done several siding and roofing jobs for me. In each instance, they went well beyond the work they originally thought would be required to ensure that the problem they were addressing was solved once and for all. And, in fact, the problems were solved! Despite going well above and beyond, however, they never asked that I pay one penny more than their original estimate. I had to almost force a "bonus" on them because I was so pleased with their work. This is the best contractor I ever used for any job.

KCSI's John Knowlan and his team did a great job repairing a couple of rafters (broken by a tree that fell on the house), then replacing the entire roof with architectural shingles and installing new gutters and downspouts. They even replaced a few window screens that had been damaged by the tree, at no extra charge. All in all, an excellent job done on time and on budget, and I highly recommend this company for any roof work.

I was worried I needed a new roof. Another contracter patched my roof several times and it continued to leak. KCSI came out and offered a solution the other contractor never mentioned. John Knowlan stayed in constant communication with me. He sent pictures of the problem area before the repair. His estimate was extremely fair. He also sent pictures after the repair. Even with how busy roofers are right now (after a month of rain), they were able to repair my roof within a week of inspecting it. I will always go with KCSI from now on!

I very highly recommend KCSI Home Exterior Construction, and its President, Mike MacCabe. I contracted with KCSI to replace the existing aluminum siding on my house with vinyl siding and to replace selected, rotted portions of the wood trim on the exterior of my house with PVC. Throughout this job, Mike distinguished himself in a number of key areas:
- From day one, Mike was highly responsive to every message that I sent or question that I had, often responding the same day. He came out to view my property and provided a competitive, professional, comprehensive quote within days of my request.
- My project was not straightforward and called for a significant amount of judgment and expertise, and few contractors were willing to even bid on it. The house includes a great deal of external wood trim, some of which was rotted. Several contractors said it would cost up to 100K to replace all of the trim ,and were unable to define the work that really needed to be done or structure a reasonable contract to address the work. Mike worked with me on a reasonable budget and charged me for labor and materials based on that budget. He consulted in detail with me on the scope of work and provided advice and recommendations when requested. As a result, the work was done within my budget, all the significant damage was repaired, and no money was wasted on unnecessary repairs.
- The siding replacement also posed some unique challenges. Prior to the siding replacement, I was experiencing significant leaks in the house. In replacing the siding, Mike also assessed the cause of the leaks, ensured that vapor barrier Tyvek was installed, and successfully installed flashing which entirely eliminated the leaks.
- Unlike most contractors that I have encountered, Mike was personally on-site each day, directing and inspecting the work. He indicated that he does not accept more work than he can personally oversee. His oversight and level of communication was unsurpassed. Throughout the job, he frequently e-mailed me pictures of the work in progress, with questions and suggestions, to ensure that the work adhered to my specifications.
- Mike told me that he strives for 100% customer satisfaction, and he means it. After the job was done, in response to my requests, he returned and cheerfully made several modifications.
- The job was completed ahead of schedule and within budget.
I trust KCSI completely to provide high quality work, excellent advice, and superior customer service.

John and his crew, at KCSI, do excellent work. During our home inspection, the inspector noticed our roof leaking through the attic. I called KCSI and they were able to come out and fix the leak for a good price. Not only that, but he noticed my vent cover was missing and fixed it while he was there. He had photos to show me of before/after the work was performed and we were extremely pleased with this experience.

KCSI recently removed old siding and installed vinyl siding on my house in Burke. I am extremely pleased with the work done. Not only was the work done in only 2 days time, the work was done by a seasoned crew of 5 who worked seamlessly and did excellent work reflecting work experience of over 15 years with KCSI. Mike MacCabe and his team at KCSI recently completed a siding project for us in Centreville, Virginia, and we can't be happier. They did a fantastic job, and we've received a number of compliments from our neighbors.

We first met with Mike about four or five months before the start of the project. He explained all of our options and left us with a variety of material for us to review at our leisure. When we were ready to move forward, he was very clear about the pricing -- no hiding the ball -- and never tried to up-sell us. Furthermore, he kept us informed about the status of our product order and the start date. During the project itself, he was on-site and otherwise available to answer questions.

KCSI just completed a complete roof, siding, trim wrapping, and gutter job at our house.
