Overall, Kandu was very good to work with and I expect to hire them again for future work. We had some fairly extensive water damage in our home from a problem with our old roof. We got a few quotes and went with Kandu. They told us up front that the original estimate would change because we couldn't see the full extent of the damage until they started tearing into the wall. The cost did end up being higher than the estimate, but the team clearly explained why and we were okay with the final amount we paid. They also replaced the glass on a few of our windows per our request.

Pros: The team that did the work, especially Brandon and Kenny, were great. Professional, courteous, and reliable. They showed up when they said they would and kept me informed of the plan as we went along. They also tolerated quite a few questions on my part. Greg also came to the site multiple times to check in and lend a hand. Kandu brought in a subcontractor for the drywall mud and wall texture, and he did great work too.

All their work was high quality. The finished interior wall is perfect -- can't even tell where the original wall ends and their repairs begin. The exterior repairs are solid, which was critical because there were load-bearing sections to deal with. (The exterior painting is pending better weather.)

Cons: Just one -- some of the communication between us and Kandu and between the folks within Kandu was hit-and-miss. We know some of that was on us, so for our next project, we'll have a better plan of exactly what we want and will follow up in writing to make sure we're all on the same page. But some of the miscommunication was also on their side. Because of this, the project didn't move as quickly as we wanted. In the end, though, everything came together and we were happy with the results.

Looking forward to working with them again.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
