We contacted JD Gates Exteriors regarding leaks from our skylights over an outdoor deck. Wes promptly provided a very reasonable quote and arranged a date for his team to perform the repairs. His team arrived on schedule, treated our property with respect, and worked efficiently. Upon completion, they thoroughly cleaned the roof area, checked the yard for any debris, and removed all waste. Following some heavy rainfall after the repairs, everything remains completely dry. We strongly recommend JD Gates Exteriors for any skylight and roofing services.

Gates Exterior replaced two slab doors and a few bifold doors in my home. The doors look great. Some of my doors were hard to install due to the house settling. They were able to get everything installed and working properly. They even cleaned up after themselves. Did not even know they were here. If I need work in the future, I will definitely reach out to Gates.

What can I say! From beginning to end Wes and his entire crew were FANTASTIC!! It's the first time I ever had to deal with such a huge repair and Wes explained everything to me so I could understand what was needed, the next best steps and every cost involved. I had questions about my homeowners insurance and he had a proposal ready to send over to them- very clear and precise. He was very professional. The day of the job he arrived before his crew. He made sure everyone was set. The crew did an absolutely amazing job! Great group of guys. They worked well together, efficient, professional and respected my property. Before they were done, Wes was here to make sure I was good & to see if I had any questions and help finish the job. The guy left my property as when they arrived. All cleaned up!! I mean can we say, Personal touch!!! Then i found out that JD Gates also does decks, fences among other things!!! To find a contractor who is professional, gives his personal touch on the job, has a great crew that's worked for him for years and cares about his clients and their pocketbook is really hard to find. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY DID AN AMAZING JOB!! FYI- I never met anyone at JD Gates before, he was a referral... I am just so surprised at this day an age u find someone in this field with so much integrity! Speaks lovingly about his wife and family, appreciates his crew and loves his business and customers! We could not be happier with our deck. From the moment we called the office and Michael came out to look at our job and provide a quote through completion of the project, JD Gates provides professional, capable and customer oriented responses. Kent and Brad did a phenomenal job on the construction and the deck looks outstanding. We had a previous deck project and patio doors installed by J.D. Gates Exterior and they will continue to be our go to project installers.

JD Exteriors did an amazing job installing our fence and our deck. Wes arrived on time for the initial consultation, and all follow up consultations. The team was professional and worked diligently with no interruption to my work-day and they cleaned up the yard daily. Quality products were used for the deck and the fence which is evident in the finished product. The fence, and most of the deck was made with PVC which can be sprayed with the hose, which is great since the pollen is bad this year. What is most appreciated is that the company was honest and explained pricing and they installed the best products to ensure longevity. Wes and his team are knowledgeable of the State, County and Township Code and regulations and that information was helpful with our project. Lastly, Stephanie, the office admin, was great. She was quick to return calls and kept our family updated on all aspects, including ordering the supplies to the estimated start and finish of the project. Quality customer service goes a long way! In Summary, they were great. We are patiently awaiting the delivery of our patio furniture so that we can enjoy this amazing deck this Spring and Summer.

JD Gates Exteriors was great! I contracted with them for a new deck. When Mike came, he brought samples of everything and explained in detail everything that would happen. The guys that put on my deck were very professional, quick and extremely nice. They even fixed damage to my home that they noticed before putting up my deck. They were very patient with me when I asked questions and made sure the site was always clean before they left. The quality of work was good and the crew was great. I would definitely recommend them and plan to use them for future projects at my home. Great job guy!

Being new to the area I had no idea who to hire. This company is everything I expected and more. Professional, quick, highly accommodating and wonderful quality

Had them come out for a quote on some siding and deck work. Someone showed up, let me know that it was work they could do and would give me a quote in a couple of days. I called a week later and was told that I would have a quote within a couple of days. A month later and still no quote, thanks for wasting my time.

I got my door through home depot and JD Gates contractors installed it. The workers did a great job with my door!! Even scheduling the installation was easy with the scheduling representative. I will definitely be using them again!

We had all our doors replaced and sending an A++++ for the 2 techs Jimmy and George who completed the installation.They were respectful, courteous and friendly. They worked nonstop - the project was flawless. They cleaned up every piece of dust-dirt. Doesn't get any better than this! Greatly appreciate the excellent service they provided!

This contractor was supposed to come measure a door to replace later. No one showed up within the 2 hour time that was scheduled. No call to cancel or reschedule. So we will go with a different company. Wasted all afternoon waiting on them. Not a good way to do business!!!!

Really pleased with our JD Gates experience! They came out and completed a free quote. It was thorough and professional. Our property has a slope making it tricky but they did it seamlessly. The fence look great! We had 2 gates installed and the hardware looks sharp. They completed a day earlier than projected. The installation team was polite and respectful of the property. Mike, the project manager, came back out after completion and answered my follow up questions. We will definitely use JD Gates for future projects!

Gates has done over 5 projects so far in our house since we moved in 2 years ago. From replacing old/odd style windows in my detached garage, to my exterior and interior doors, every job was timely and handled professionally. I had a few companies not even show up or call back since the quarantine Gates was the only one to get the job done. They just finished replacing 5 old basement windows and made my house look great! Had JD Gates do my roof. They showed up when they said they would, did a good job and carefully cleaned up afterwards. We had an issue that turned out to be caused by a defective vent, which they promptly replaced. While they were out for that, they also made a mod to the job that they weren't obligated to do, but which I wanted. A+ for these guys.

This is the 2nd time I have used this company and I’m thrilled with the results. I got at least 6 quotes and Wes gave me the best price. I had 3 guys show up Monday morning to replace my vinyl siding, soffits and shutters. They completed the job in 2 days - they were on time, professional, hauled away everything, hung new lights and did a great job installing all of the new material. Thrilled with the results and I would highly recommend this company.

My estimate was scheduled out 2 weeks with a 3 hour window and nobody showed up or called. I call 30 minutes after and they said some times he runs late. I asked for a call back to let me know if they are coming but I never heard back.

Never got to meet with these clowns! Called and made appointment that was 4+ weeks out and promised would be sooner but just getting on the schedule. Called a few days before the apt and had no records of appt. made another and confirmed it last week for the 8th. Just called me to cancel and told them to learn how to run a business!! I had to give one star to submit this but they don't deserve it!!

Our New Door was installed before lunchtime. The two man crew were careful, socially distanced and as quiet as door installers can be. They made sure we were happy with the door, inside and outside. Next up, our deck needs replacing!

Wes Gates and his crew replaced my whole roof. I was very pleased with the work of the crew. It took them only 2 days to totally replace the shingles, plus a few pieces of plywood, plus my attic fan. Wes, as company owner, came for some time each day to oversee the work, and was very responsive to any of my questions.He even came a third day, after crew had finished, to take care of a few things. I also commend the whole group for cleaning up after they were done; this included replacing my deck furniture and grill, as well as hauling away all the pieces of shingles and metal which had been stripped off the roof. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone.

I don't write reviews normally. In my opinion, a contractor really needs to go above and beyond their scope of work, without direction, for me to recognize them publicly. Wes Gates (owner), and the people at Gates Exteriors, are one of those exceptions.

Without hesitation, I recommend Gates Exteriors for your full roof replacement and/or exterior residential project.

The work ethic of Wes's crew and their commitment to quality is foremost. The materials used is superior. And lastly, I can't describe to you the high level of cleanup each night. After 2 weeks since installation was completed, I literally have not found 1 nail in my yard or landscape beds.

Wes showed up each day and kept me informed of progress being made. It is incredibly comfortable to hear from the owner on a regular basis when such a huge investment is being made on your property.

In the end, I HIGHLY recommend Gates Exteriors!! I am more than satisfied with my new roof! I will be scheduling them to do my deck make-over soon enough.

A very nice, pleasant, contractor installed my storm door this morning. He was on time and his work was excellent! Upon completion, he explained to me how the door works and provided me with literature containing needed information, instruction and contact information. It was so refreshing to interact with such a professional - and obviously talented - young man. I definitely recommend his Gates Exteriors, and I will be contacting this company for all my future home improvement needs!

Five stars understates and does not do justice to the work ethic and quality of work done by Gates Exteriors who just replaced my entire roof as well as some masonry and siding work. The work was done professionally, on schedule, and at a price of exceptional value. Wes, the president, was a total pleasure to work with and his ethical values translate to his entire work force. Enough cannot be said about Mario and his roofing team who worked efficiently together to complete the job quickly but without cutting any corners. The quality of their work was extraordinary and I would give my highest recommendation to anyone contemplating any type of home repair. Wes and company go that extra mile to ensure the job is done to the customers total satisfaction.

We had our new front door + storm door installed today. He was on time, worked quickly and efficiently, and did a wonderful job. The doors look beautiful, he took the time to explain how the storm door works and how to change it out, and he cleaned up his workspace and left it so that you'd never know we had any work done.
He was very friendly and polite and I look forward to working with them again to replace our windows very soon.

I can't say enough about the care they took when installing my windows to my house as well as shutters. They also repaired an issue with my roof. This was done in an efficient manner and they cleaned up after themselves very well.

His work and product comes backed by the best warranty out there (backed by the manufacturer because IT recognizes how good he Is) without paying extra for it (many companies make you pay thousands for a warranty and even more if you want to transfer it to a future owner!!!!) Mr. Gates' work crew is incredibly hard working, friendly and conscientious. They were respectful of our property and did a phenomenal job cleaning up. Everyone had warned me we would be finding tons of nails in the garden beds. I have a dog that runs free and I was worried sick. I'm also a huge gardener. I've been in those gardens continuously and around the house digging, taking and weeding and I have not found a single nail! Well done clean-up crew!

I consulted JD Gates because me and my dad were having problems getting the steps on my front porch to code. Wes showed me what we needed to do to fix the issue and drew it out for us free of charge. I also used one of his helpers Lendwood, who helped me remodel my bathroom and the end product looks amazing. Lendwood also even came out one weekend and helped me replace my water heater cheaper then any other company I had called.

this company came to my house that i bought which needed a complete renovation.it was like working with family.they treated me like i was one of there family members.the workmanship was by far the best ive seen the prices were great .they did not cut any corners nor did they try at any time to force me into any thing i didnt want ,i would refer this great company to every one and any one who needs work done to there home office or what ever you may need .polite curtious and very good workers from the boss to the labors.Thank you Jd gates

Have you ever done a 203k loan.......It's all stress
I have been working with JD Gates for close to a year now to get my new [to me] home livable. The process involves four players, FHA, The bank, The contractor and the home owner.
I needed 22 windows, a new roof, HVAC, Plumbing, Painting, Insulation and a new septic system.
We have had a few issues with the HVAC and plumbing. That JD Gates corrected within days.
My 203k is almost closed and I can only say that the stress came from FHA and the bank.
The support and quick response from JD Gates has made this process livable.

Rebuilt our existing deck with trex and beautiful white railings with black tubular spindles. Very professional workers with a definite attention to detail. Could not be more thrilled with the job. Finished the work on schedule and left the site completely clean and in original condition.

In response to the rebuttal below. The deck never passed any inspections except the footers, and you did not provide a full refund. You were subcontracted through Lowes. Like others who posted (besides your friends trying to clean up your ratings), your work is a disgrace.

Worse possible experience you could imagine. Poor craftsmanship, sloppy, and disrespectful to my property. They attempted to build a deck. The results were cracked deck-boards (no pilot holes). Not level, gate doesn't shut. Whats worse is they tried to fix it and couldn't. Wes Gates lives off of his fathers reputation and his wife Jen Gates is just as horrendous (the office mismanager). Do yourself a favor and stay away from this company.

I am so glad I choose JD Gates to install my deck. From my initional call when I spoke to Jennifer, who was informative and professional. The level of honesty and integrity from her was refreshing. The day she gave me to start the job is the day the job was started. The men who did the work were all gentlemen. They explained the job to me from start to finish. They are all craftsmen, and really know their jobs. It is clear this is a family style business. Every worker seems to be grateful for their job, and takes pride in the job they do. Thanks to all. These guys built a deck on a home I own, it is the worst laid out design ever and we contracted through Lowe’s and we got JD Gates, oh boy! Bunch of slack jawed pin cushions looking for their next fix of “H”. No company trucks and novice workmanship. Avoid at all costs, unless you like dealing with “that border hopper” or “that redneck druggie”
We now have a deck that has several different “dye lots” of the plastic decking from all the re-works they did, the pvc railings are all un-level and they didn’t attach it to our home so now it’s separating from the side of the house. Our home isn’t a trailer or double wide it’s a nice McMansion in Middletown.

We had J.D. Gates installed 22 windows in our house and one French door the work was excellent the workers were very courteous and they cleaned up after themselves, The customer service was excellent to I would recommend them to anyone.

This company rehabbed my entire kitchen and came in THOUSANDS less than their competitors on the Estimate. I guess that's the difference of receiving an estimate from the owner himself and having a high pressure commissioned salesman giving an Estimate. Thanks guys! I will never use anyone else
