Warning: Unreliable Contractor – Avoid at All Costs

I hired this guy to install a cage over an HVAC unit. After days of stalling and excuses, he claimed the job was done and sent me a photo. The problem? The unit and the house in the photo weren’t even mine. Different color, different setup — completely fake.

He then tried to convince me he’d “bought a new one” — a bold claim, especially since my original HVAC is still sitting there, untouched. My property manager confirmed there was no work done.

This wasn’t a mistake — it was a calculated attempt to lie and get paid without doing the job. I’ve since heard he’s done similar things to others. If he responds to this review, I expect more deflection and excuses — just like before.

Bottom line: don’t waste your time or money. There are plenty of honest workers out there. Unfortunately, he’s not one of them.

I hired him for a small job initially, and while the work was passable, things went downhill fast on the second project. I paid him $725 to install a cage around an outdoor HVAC unit. He gave me excuses for three days about delays, then suddenly claimed the job was done — and sent a photo of an entirely different HVAC system at a completely different house.

When my property manager checked, the cage hadn’t been installed, and everything was untouched. It was obvious the photo was fake. This guy outright scammed me. Save yourself the hassle and money — stay far away.

I had the pleasure of working with JB’s Onestop handyman shop & More LLC recently, and I can’t recommend him highly enough! He was punctual, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. I had a few different tasks that needed attention — from fixing a leaky faucet to repairing a broken door handle — and he tackled everything with precision and care. Not only was he skilled, but he was also friendly and respectful of my home, which made the whole experience even better. The pricing was transparent and very fair for the high level of service I received. I’m so happy with the results and will definitely be calling him for any future repairs.

This contractor is a Scammer and a liar. On July 1st he cashed a check for $450 that I gave him as a deposit to replace the vinyl plank floors in my home. The agreement was that the work would begin on July 1st,2024, and completed by July 4th 2024. After cashing my check, I received a text that materials were not available and would not be available for three weeks. I immediately responded back that I was not willing to wait three weeks. I then requested a refund of my deposit. I then received another text that said my deposit could not be returned because it had been used to order the materials that would not be available for three weeks. This order was done without my approval. Now to make a long story short, this really upset me. So for the next thirty days we went back and forth about my refund. I was promised my refund on several occasions, but never received it. There were one excuse after another. I finally threatened to sue for the return of my refund. Then I received a text that my refund would be delivered to me at my home on Saturday August 3rd, 2024 at 2pm. We agreed on this date and time. When I returned home at 7:50am on Wednesday July 31st,2024 , I received a text that my refund had been placed in my mailbox outside of my house. The message stated that I could find my refund of $425 cash inside my mailbox in white envelope. The message also stated that it was left in my mailbox at 7:40am. I checked my mailbox at 8:10 am and it was empty. I immediately contacted this contractor and let him know that my mailbox was empty. I asked if this was a joke and another SCAM. The response that I received was "I put the refund in your mailbox. That's all I can do. I don't know what happened to it. Please don't contact me anymore "
Now what kind of professional person refuses to return a deposit for work that he did not do? Also, what kind of professional person leaves cash money outside someones home that is owed to them. If this was an honest attempt to return my refund, he would have contacted me and made arrangements to put my refund into my hand. This contractor is a scammer and a liar. I am now taking JD Handyman to court in order to recover my refund.

Had a wonderful experience with JB's Onestop Handyman services. They came out to fix various issues around our house; cabinet hinges that needed replacing, closet renovations for my walk-in closet, insulating an outdoor water spigot that a previous plumber had to chip around in order to fix another problem. These guys were extremely accommodating, knowledgeable and happy to educate, very quick and efficient in their work, and more than fair in their pricing.

I will be contacting this business again for the many various issues and projects to be done around our property, and I will be referring them to various people who are looking for honest, fair, knowledgeable, quality work from an awesome crew with a lot of talent and experience. Can't wait to work with them again, and I highly advise you give this business a call for whatever needs you have. They have a lot of various great skills in a wide range of areas, and they're eager to put those skills to work to get a job well done.

Had a very positive experience with JB and his team. I called him to see if he could fix a broken window same day because I had a tenant moving into the property the next day and he got right out there. When he got to the property he found a handful of other issues that were supposed to be taken care of by the previous contractor but weren't. He was very reasonable with price, got it all done the same day so my tenant could move in the next day, and did great work. Thank you JB! We'll definitely be using your services again!

^^ Updated review after working with JB for a few other jobs on my homes. He worked on a handful of my rental properties, and all the work that he did pretty much came apart. I've had to now hire different companies to get out there and fix the initial problem he tried to fix, plus fix all the damage that was done by JB. Leaving an honest review, I would not recommend using his services, I lost a lot of money.

Forget this guy. He starts off good. Good talker, everything appear to start well. But then he trys to use the money for other stuff. And get 2nd hand material, and plays games. The llc does not exist. Keep a close eye on him. Don't trust his pictures of information he send. He will make sure the pictures doesn't show bad part.

Strange character. He refused to do any work and say wait 2 months. 2 month went by he didn't even start. He's a joker. Keey a close eye even if he's digging a ditch. He maybe send you picture of a ditch he dug a year before. An say he's completed the job
