I had two 2nd story bedroom windows replaced. Received 3 bids. Idaho Home Exteriors were not the lowest bid but I felt that for just a couple of hundred dollars more that they were the best choice. I liked the fact that the owner Val came to my home to do the cost estimate and I could tell he was a very honest good man. I trusted him. He also explained how I was being offered a superior quality window. Lastly, I read some of their reviews and their installers received high compliments. The installers are very professional, experienced and do great work. I am very pleased with my experience with this company and with the quality and installation of my windows. I highly recommend the owner Val and this company.

We used Idaho Home Exteriors to put a new 6 foot window into a space that used to be a garage but was converted into a dining room. The job ended up being very tricky as the garage door had never been removed! The sub contractors were able to remove the door and the company was true to their original estimate despite the extra time and labor. The window looks beautiful.

I was initially greeted by a salesman who worked with me throughout the process. There is no fanfare or grand enthusiasm. Which, was a little disappointing because you want people to be excited about your project with you. I also had to call frequently to get my questions answered regarding the details of my new window, timing, plan, scheduling. The process felt less refined than other companies at times. But, this company is fair with pricing, quick, did a lovely job and all the sub contractors were great. Before and after photos included.

Would NOT recommend. Mostly due to management issues.

The lack of communication was terrible. At one point, I went at least a full month without a reply to a single call, text or email. I can’t fault them for material shortages, but due to the lack of communication, I ended up defaulting to the assumption that I was being lied to. That wasn’t the case, but a fair assumption on my given the circumstances. I just wanted a weekly update…good news or bad news…didn’t care…I just wanted to be kept up to speed on what was going on.

There also seemed to be some disconnects between the promises made by the estimator and what the guys actually doing the work said was possible to do with the Hardie siding materials. That was ultra frustrating at times as well.

The quality of the work was pretty good. I did feel at times that there was no willingness to do anything beyond the easiest way. Yes, you can cut Hardie board in something other than square angles. It just takes a little more time and effort. It also really bothered me that the workers trash talked every other contractor’s work that had any part of the job. That’s just not a good sign in my opinion. For example, I really don’t care if they don’t “trust my electrician”…I do…he’s a friend and I’ve got far more history and knowledge of his quality of work than anyone else on the job…and he does awesome & thorough work.

All in all, it was a bad experience, but the quality of the work was, for the most part, quite satisfactory.

They installed new siding for us. They had great options to choose from and did a fantastic job at a reasonable price! As one of our neighbors put it, our house "went from being the ugliest on the block to one of the best". They were also incredibly thoughtful and provided us advice on other components of our remodel to make sure the siding worked with our ideas.

We signed a contact to have patio screens installed on our house on November 8th, 2018. We didn’t hear another word from the company for over two months. They finally made contact in mid January 2019 and the screens were installed yesterday, January 30, 2019.

The installers were great and had the screens installed in short order. They cleaned up the area very well. They showed us how to operate the screens and then informed us we’d have to hire an electrician to install an electrical outlet to power the screens.

When the salesmen gave us the estimate, we were told they’d hook the screens up to an existing outlet. True, the existing outlet isn’t as close as they would have liked but they said it could be done. The installers hooked the screens up in a way that the existing outlet cannot be used. Now I have fork out even more money for an electrician.

The electrician looked at the mess of wires and said they should have done it differently because it will now require extensive rewiring to get electricity to the screens.

You’d think for the price we paid for the screens the company would have done ALL the necessary work to ensure the screens were hooked up properly. I cannot and will not recommend this company to do any type of work for anyone

Overview:
- Customer Service (1 out of 5) We have had to initiate communication and often did not get a reply by dates they set. We experienced the installer not showing up when supposed to with no word as well as the owners showing up without letting us know they were coming.
- Schedule (2 out of 5). During initial bid they said it should take 2 weeks in June to complete project. It is now July and the project is left undone and we are still waiting for them to come back and fix problems.* Will update review when project finally complete.
- Cleanliness (2 out of 5). Installer did very little clean up after installation. Our side gate was taken off the hinges by the installer and not replaced before he left. Wood debris with nails was left scattered around the base of the house and small debris was left on our front entryway steps even though installer knew we had two dogs and two young kids.
- Value (3 out of 5). They were a mid-range bid for siding on our small residential home.The actual steel siding product is of good quality with PVDF coating that we wanted however the vent and outlet covers are made of plastic.

Detail:
We would not recommend this company to our family and friends. We hired them to install new metal siding on our 1950s single-level home. The house has an older metal patio cover (10-15 years old) covering the back deck. It was written in our contract that they would remove the patio cover and properly install siding and fascia behind the patio cover and then reattach it. On the first day of project the actual installer refused to remove patio cover (even though explicitly stated in the contract). Owners of the company had seen the patio cover twice before in-person and had indicated and agreed that the patio cover could be temporarily removed but became hesitant and reluctant to follow through stating their new concerns with the age and integrity of the patio cover. Installer continued with project working around patio cover but then installed the trim in uneven widths around windows under the patio cover and siding in the small back gable was installed with lap running diagonal (instead of horizontal like the whole rest of the house). We had to call business owners and argue that the patio cover needed to be removed as originally planned and stated in contract and have siding and trim corrected. The owners came out themselves and detached most of the patio cover on a Thursday and then said that the installer would come by on Saturday to correct the work. We received a message on Saturday that installer would instead come on Tuesday. On Tuesday no one came and we called and left a message. Then we were told siding and trim would not be fixed until the next Tuesday. The project remains unfinished and past schedule. I will update the review when completed.

**UPDATE** 7/25/2018 - Project completed. The issues with the improperly installed siding were fixed after waiting a week and a half. We had to have several discussions with owners about patio cover and agree to pay up to an additional $200 for them just to reattach it (although it was stated in our original contract that they would reattach it). We were also pressured to pay the second installment before project completed, although explicitly stated in our contract that we didn't have to pay until project completed. The owners themselves came out to reattach the patio cover. They showed up two hours later than they originally planned (but they did text to let us know they were running late). They were able to reattach patio cover even with pieces that they had said were "unusable" prior and in the end did not charge us extra. Overall, I like our new siding and it needed to be done on our old house, but I would not personally recommend this company.

Designed and built a hexagonal shape gazebo (19' x 19") for us. They did an exceptional job with the design and building. to our specs My wife and I could not be more pleased with the old world craftsmanship, top quality materials, and excellent work that went into this project.

Highly recommend these guys. Complete siding job on my townhouse looks fantastic. Michael was very polite and patient with all my questions through the process. Troy was also very nice and reliable to show up and get things done in a timely manner. They were even good with my puppy who is very high energy. Great job guys!

Loved having Idaho Home Exteriors work on our patio cover. An exceptional experience from start to finish. Great ideas and communication along with superior products and hard working subs made this experience seamless.

They installed a patio cover and deck. Great job. Very professional team. Michael was great to work with. Would highly recommend them for this kind of work.

Did really nice work on our siding and gutter, I got design suggestion I never thought of, we had they came back, again for a new window and sunroom and then a deck. They do great work and had consideration for our pets.

Michael came to my house and walked my wife and I through the entire process while giving us our initial bid for window replacement. He did a great job of reassuring us that it will be seamless for us as homeowners, while saving money with new windows. Very happy!
