HPM Building Supply - Hilo

As a General Contractor, I recommend avoiding this place and going to Honsador. HPM Hilo is extremely disorganized and terrible at following through on any significant order, they have little or no credibility and have cost me thousands of dollars. From sending my windows to the wrong island to taking weeks on end (with no communication) to follow through on an order and lying about it. It's just not worth the headaches and dealing with their disorganization.

This place was great. We spent our entire trip trying to find something for my husband to bring back for his hobby, HPM had an abundant amount of the Koa wood we were looking for!

The woman that helped us was so nice and helped us find exactly what we were looking for!

HPM is a go-to for all things home improvement! Everyone is helpful and I (almost) always find what I'm looking for, and definitely find what I was expecting to find. The store is well organized, clean, and easy to navigate but everyone is eager to help! Today, I used the restroom (in a hallway near hardware) for the first time and it was clean, well supplied and very functional, unlike other big retail stores. We are truly lucky to have such an amazing, local hardware store! Mahalo HPM for your service and dedication.

Very helpful and friendly employees. They greet you at the door, they ask if you need help when they see you wondering around clueless unlike some other stores which I won’t mention because I don’t like to throw other business under the bus… HOMEDEPOT! go check them out. Cant beat the customer service. Especially in Hilo. Top of line business.

Good folks to work with. If they wrap the drywall to protect it from the rain on the way home/job. Make sure you ask them not to put the finish side down. It gets chewed up a bit.

Great areal with big parking lot. Different pick-up locations. Helpfully staff at Customer Service and Home Planning Center located in another building.

I came to find a competent supplier for our new home build. We built ground-up over this summer. Folks I dealt with; Janel, Merrillyn, Kapua, all very savvy and super helpful. We went over budget big time with the price hikes this summer but price and service always went in favor of HPM. Highly recommend.

The people inside were nice. I'll still go back. Warning: Marketing is a big lie. I got a "Welcome to the neighborhood" coupon in the mail with bold letters stating "Anything" I could fit in a bucket was 10% off. It was not, 75% of the stuff was already on a discount. I'm sure there was fine print stating stuff already on discount wasn't "anything", but for a meager 10% I thought I could trust the advertisement without lawyering it out. In the future I'll take my chances more with the Chinese goods from Amazon that I can trust more than HPM. The $15 they saved on me at the cost of my trust wasn't worth it in my eyes.

HPM is awesome! The store is so clean and organized. Always get someone willing to help you. They even offered to wrap up my sheet rock so it wouldn't get wet! Feel better supporting a locally owned business. 10/10 recommend from beginners to pros

Local business, good selection, and great customer service. Now that Home Depot is donating millions to Trump, HPM is my go-to.

HPM is a great local hardware store. They are always happy to answer any questions a person has, and will even recommend a competitor if they can't provide the needed supply.

The 2nd most expensive hardware store in Hilo. Get the same products down the road considerably cheaper at the Home Depot. The senior discount is a joke...Double check your receipt for the 10% that's offered.
Staff here has always been unhelpful to me as most don't know a thing about building supplies or tools.
Save time, save money, and keep stress levels low by shopping at Ace or the Home Depot.

Locally owned hardware store. The customer service is great. The selection is good and the prices are decent. You'll prob find it cheaper at Home Depot, but Im in and out quicker (and easier) at HPM

Purchased our beautiful bathroom vanity here. More recently purchased our PCA Screen Doors, hold up better in Hawaiian climate (no rust issues). Wally Iopa was fantastic at helping us select & order doors. Like many have mentioned in reviews, super customer support!

HPM is the place to go if you want good customer service. The big box stores just cannot compete. I have ordered construction materials from both and there is a stark difference between them and HPM. I am now a loyal HPM customer.
