I'm coming back to this review about six weeks later to give an update.
I am changing the rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Consider it 4.5, really, I just reserve five for near perfection. Since I wrote this, I will say, HomeSealed has put in a ton of effort to correct the issues that I expressed. It's one of those cases, though, where I wish they had just listened to me from the beginning, but I appreciate them trying to make it right. The owner even came by to see and hear about my experience, and I think that shows a great deal about the character of the company. They agreed to refund me for the surprise charge that I mentioned in my original review, and they hired a professional painter to paint my trim that was replaced. At the end of the day, I love my new windows, I am happy to have air flow in the house, and I love the black and white together. If my original trim had been kept on the three windows it was removed from, this would be 5 stars. I would definitely recommend working with them, they could have easily told me to eff off, but they stood behind their work and that is great to see these days. I think my experience was just a one-off case of "you can't win 'em all."
... My previous review ...
I canceled a contract for my ENTIRE house of windows to be replaced by RbA for HomeSealed on the word of the salesman that they blow RbA out of the water. I have some serious buyers remorse and I will be sitting in my regrets for a while.
I was unable to get out of my window contract with Rba entirely, so they replaced my patio door and one window prior to my HomeSealed installation. It looks amazing, top notch installation job and I couldn’t be happier with it.
Fast forward to HomeSealed and I am crying in my cereal. I couldn’t hate this installation more. I have a mid-century modern home with huge windows, and five of them have transom windows above them. Due to the fact that those don’t open, they were not being replaced. I wish they would have told me that the new windows would no longer line up to the existing windows like they did before. No one bothered to mention that. Another thing they didn’t bother to mention was, and I quote from their lead installer “we don’t do square trim.” Well, shouldn’t you have left my square trim intact then if you were incapable of replacing it? And shouldn’t you do whatever the design of the home demands, square, round, doesn’t matter? You should complement the aesthetic of the home.
For a job with floor-to-ceiling windows and transoms, this was not the day to send your “C” squad. They destroyed much of my pre-existing trim that didn’t even need to be removed, I wanted it to remain as it ran throughout my entire house. They installed quarter round continued to install it after I said it wasn’t what I wanted. The windows weren’t level or hung the same height being side-by-side. Anyway, they did not return for day two and the head installer came out to assess the next day. That is when he told me they don’t do square trim. Well, your team shouldn’t have removed my trim then, but here we are. Because of my transom windows being white, new windows are black, the outside needed extra wrapping for black. Added 1k to the cost at the last minute. Are you telling me no one knew to assess that before the work was done? RbA had all the trim they installed professionally painted by finishers before being installed. Now, because “they don’t do square trim” I have unpainted trim that I now have to paint and caulk. I can’t even begin to describe my level of disappointment with this company.
I have been in tears over how much I regret canceling my RbA contract for this. I absolutely hate my new windows, I hate the craftmanship, I hate that there was zero thought put into the design or aesthetic of my home, I hate the entire experience. I was just another window sale. If you have a home that is not a traditional cookie-cutter window home, this is not the company for you.
