I went to HomeBase to buy an outdoor spigot. I couldn't find one. I asked an associate who was wandering around and he pointed to a wall stocked with nozzles and sprayers. Out of politeness I went and looked again.
I eventually left and went to TrueValue. I told them what I wanted and they walked me over to the correct shelf and showed me my options.

I tried calling HomeBase to tell them about my experience, but they put me on hold and I stayed on hold until I arrived at the grocery store. Then, I had to hang up.
HomeBase is really busy.
I stopped by HomeBase today (8/2/25) looking for a specific fastener: 10MM x 1.25 x 50MM with a hex/Allen head. The shelf was empty, but I could see they normally carry it. I asked at the counter if they could order some, even provided a photo of the SKU. The answer was no.
I was also told they didn’t have any in the back—though I hadn’t asked. That’s two “no’s.” Then I was told a delivery is coming soon, but they can’t guarantee the item will be on it, because no one seems to know who manages fastener inventory. That makes three “no’s.”
When I worked retail, I was taught to find a way to say yes. That doesn’t seem to be the service philosophy here. I was also told there’s a $25 gift card waiting for me at the service desk from a previous visit. But after that kind of experience, why would I bother claiming it?
Instead, I went home and ordered the bolts on Amazon. I guess this is the Radio Shack model—make it just frustrating enough that people stop coming in. With a little planning, I may not need to return to HomeBase at all.
I'm really not difficult to please. I just want a solution rather than no's. I could have waited a week or two, but that was not an option. There were no options. I hate to be whiny, but service is service. I can always order online. I came for service and they basically showed me the door.
I absolutely love shopping at HomeBase Laramie, where the staff are super helpful and the selection is fantastic. It’s a win for the town and region that HomeBase decided to join the Southeast Wyoming community!
We are really impressed with this store. It is very well stocked and the staff are helpful and kind. It is nice not having to go to Cheyenne for everything. We can't stand Bloedorn.
