Steve and his team were a nightmare if only i saw the previous reviews first! He took a down payment then disappeared for a week. When i was finally able to reach him he advised we were delayed before we were even started because of another project he was finishing. He blew past every deadline he set HIMSELF or i set for him. He failed to complete some of the most simplest tasks after multiple requests during our many walk throughs. I ended up doing hours of work myself to get it to where i needed it to be due to his delays. Unexpected costs kept coming up. Work was half assed and sloppy. He never came to do the final day (or week in his time)'s work. But keeps spamming me an unpaid balance bill for money he was already paid. HORRIBLE

I highly recommend Home Specialties, LLC. Steve was super easy to work with. Patient, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He took care of everything from our first conversation to the last - including the insurance. Communication is one of the most important things when I hire a contractor, and with this project it was even more vital. I do not live in Idaho and never worried about hiring Steve without meeting him. He took care of everything for my elderly mother and her home and I never doubted that all was going well. He was on time, kept me up-to-date, and replaced the roof and gutters without incident and within the time frame promised. When I needed someone again, Steve was my first and only thought, and he took care of that project days sooner than I even expected. You won't be disapointed if you hire Home Specialties, LLC for your projects.

Hired Steve to do a number of jobs. He started out ok but by the end he and his team were constantly behind schedule and coming up with nothing but excuses for no show appointments and incomplete and/or insufficient work. After many false promises to complete the tasks for which he was hired, he ended up abruptly walking away from incomplete jobs, with our money (for which we foolishly prepaid him) and additional unapproved costs. He seems to do ok for one off jobs but he cannot handle multiple projects at once. Steve is a nightmare, BEWARE is an understatement.

We started with a gutter repair and ended with a completely new patio. I appreciate how patient and honest Steve was when going over plans for the new build. Now I can enjoy margaritas with my señoritas out doors!

I have been looking for a local company to do some work on my house and someone had recommended I reach out to Steve and his team. Steve was very polite and patient on the phone while answering all of my questions and helping explain the process to me. We have received quotes from 2 other companies but Steve explained my options clearly and took the time to get to know what I wanted and the project and provided me ideas I didn’t know were options. He was able to get me scheduled quickly while working with my schedule and I am so excited to work with this company moving forward!

I chose Steve and his team because I have several repair and maintenance projects that need to be done on my 70's home. Replacing and adding additional gutters were the first priority, so I thought it would be a good test to see if I was pleased with their company.
Highlights:
--His team is polite, fast, and punctual. When they discovered some water damage, they patiently consulted both myself and their boss to share their expertise and let me regroup to decide how to procede.
--Steve was patient with us, since we sanded, primed, and painted all the fascia boards ourselves...and we are slow.
--Steve is good at communicating and updating. I have found this to be crucial to home improvement projects (I was my own contractor on our kitchen remodel a few years ago). Bad weather, sickness, materials acquisition issues, you name it, coordinating the days to actually do the work is a real calendar dance. He did a great job of keeping me informed of how my project was fitting in with their other projects--even when he had to postpone.
--Their pricing is quite reasonable. It's not so cheap I wonder how they are going to make it long-term, but also not out of reach. I like the email invoices they sent me because they were formatted well and easy to read.
--Since my house is older, it has no straight lines! Steve gave me a tour of the gutters once they were up to make sure I could see where they had to make mounting adjustments. I REALLY appreciated this because I want to know those things so I can truly understand the job and know it was done as well as the situation allows.
--I was definitely looking to see if Steve himself was going to be hands-on at all of if he works ony in a managerial role. On gutter installation day, he was right there doing the work and training his associate.

Lowlights:
--We own the exact same model of ladder, so they did accidentally pack up my painting ladder at the end of the day once. I did have to wait a few days for them to bring it back.

Summary:

They passed the test! I have plans to get some siding repaired next year, and a laundry room fixed up, so I am looking forward to working with them again.
So, yes, I would recommend them!
