Sad to say my experience was not as good as other reviews. I needed a shower remodel, tub and shower combo. Rip out old and replace new tub and tile/plumbing. I was recommended to HKI. First they didn't show on the first scheduled appt to look at shower for a quote, there was an explanation of someone walking out in a job, but I should have been called. After over an hour several texts/calls and leaving property I finally received a text. I had scheduled this with the listing agent (house was in contract). They did show up on time for second one. Quote for just the tub/shower remodel was approximately $18,000 which I thought was steep, but they were the only ones that could get it done in timeframe I needed and I truly thought the work would be perfection since they are a contracting company. Unfortunately, there were several mistakes and in the end my bathroom and master bedroom including walls, counters, vanity lights, mirrors, caulking, baseboards, floors, toilet, etc were left very dirty. They had to come back, but I ended up cleaning most of it. This is not my first shower remodel so I know construction can be dirty, but I have always had contractors clean up and jobs completed perfectly. Unfortunately, the main guy was not able to be on the job most of the time and he was not there the last day to be sure everything was done correctly and they did not have me there either. He did apologize saying they were short handed and this is not how they do work. The brand new tub was scratched (they did reimburse me for that) which could not be replaced. There was a mishap with the fixtures I purchased and they got damaged, they did not have that one so I picked out a new one. They replaced the tub spout, but not the handle turning water on/off and the finishing is different so it is unmatched. This should have been caught and replaced with the new one. There were several other things I had to point out to be corrected and in the end the caulking around tub/tile is not straight, there was grout on the tiles, and the list goes on. Also the baseboard was stapled into the pocket door, they had to come back for that. In the end there were other things, but I was over having them return I just paid the remaining balance. I feel as though since my job was on the smaller side I did not receive the same quality of work as everyone else. The guys were nice and they did fix some unexpected finds (which I paid extra for), but overall I feel as though I over paid for the quality of work completed.
