I had an emergency. A missing vent on my roof right above my furnace and heavy rain soon in the forcast. Justin at the office was great setting up the appointment with such a short time frame. I just had a new roof installed on our house along with new gutters and skylights. The installation was excellent - there was not a spec of roofing or nails anywhere to be found. The service was excellent and my request for timing before date was fully accommodated. They even came back out to install an extra item that I requested after the fact. Hillside installed new roof on my home this summer. Leo and Pedro did a great job of checking in with me each morning to ensure my vehicle was out of garage, cleaning up the job site and providing a status at the end of each day. I had a minor pick-up after the job was complete but Ryan was out the next day to rectify the issue. The new roof looks great and I have had no issues. I chose Hillside because of price and the quality of work (new roof) they did at a home a couple of blocks away a few years ago. The homeowner was very satisfied and has had no issues after a couple of years of rain and wind storms.
I highly recommend Hillside - my next door neighbor has already contracted with them to re-roof their home later this year.

They did an amazing job with our roof and we are so happy we chose them to do the work. I can’t say enough great things about them from our first interaction we had with Tom who did the estimate, Jonathon the Foreman and crew with their attention to detail and Justin the Project Manager who communicated with us every step of the way. I was prepared to have my gardens trampled but they took special care not to damage my plants, which I’m sure made their job more difficult. It was a multi-day project and at the end of each day they took the time to clean up and left it cleaner than it was when they arrived!

Unrelated to the roof but what I thought was a true sign of the type of people they are is we had an incident in our neighborhood involving an animal, which was upsetting to me and they were all very kind and cared enough to ask and talk to me about it. I was glad they were there.

We also had gutters installed and that was seamless as well. Our roof looks AMAZING and we are so happy with it and our new gutters. It’s not very often, if ever that a home project goes so smoothly from start to finish. I can’t recommend them enough!

I hired Hillside roofing for 2 jobs. They did a wonderful job replacing my wood shingled roof that had a very steep slop expertly. Then they traveled to Vashon island to reshingle my beach property. The crews were great workers and left a very clean workplace.......thanks

Outstanding crew. We were impressed with the work but amazed by the people. We have a difficult to work urban spot and their work crew busted their tails. Left the in-work roof and the grounds in amazing condition every evening after the work day. Nice people and really hard workers. Great owner and boss too. Very happy with them. Contacted Tom about repairing my roof (leaking skylights that needed to be removed) and he very quickly got me onto the schedule. I'm extremely proud to say how pleased we were with the entire experience working with Hillside to have our roof and gutters replaced. From the initial consultation with Trevor and his continued communication before and during the project, to the workmanship, professionalism, politeness and promptness of the crew doing the work, it was so great working with them.

I received six quotes for roof and gutter replacements, and Hillside was the best value, which made me a bit skeptical after seeing most of the other bids coming in much higher. I reached out directly to Tom, the Owner, just for a little reassurance that I wasn't missing anything, as the pricing for the quality of the product seemed a bit too good to be true. He reassured me that Hillside's mission is to provide customers with a quality product at a price that's fair for both them and the consumer, so we chose to move forward with them.

We scheduled the roof replacement for the beginning of August, but they had an opening three weeks earlier that happened to fit our schedule, so we were able to make that work. They started work on Monday, finished the roof by Wednesday, and had the gutters completed by Friday. Aside from a few minor bits of debris that we had to clean up, they were very thorough in their cleanliness and keeping our property looking decent.

I cannot recommend them highly enough, as they checked all the boxes for great value, excellent communication, professionalism, promptness, and overall experience. We were very impressed.

Hillside put a new roof on my house and modified some previously installed Sun Tunnels. I was really pleased with the quality of their work! The crew was personable, skilled, and left the site very clean.

Great company to work with for a removal of old roof, install new roof, remove old gutters, install new gutters. When the office came out to give me a quote, they had already done their homework on roof sizing and did not pressure me at all during the conversation. The onsite crew was fabulous, showed up at the same exact time each day and did a site clean up each day not just after the project was done. They worked fast but not rushing. Everything was done very carefully. Everyone was able to answer all of my numerous questions and made me feel at ease.

I highly recommend Hillside Roofing! I called them in an emergency because part of my ceiling caved in and I had major leaks in my roof. Tom came out the day I called over a holiday weekend and covered my roof temporarily. Tom was a pleasure to work with is extremely knowledgeable and so responsive to all of my calls and texts. They quickly fit me into their busy schedule. The workers were professional and each day of the project left the area tidy until completion. Overall, they did a great job, on time, on budget and with little disruption. It is clear why Hillside has been successfully in business for 40 years.

From our initial contact with Trevor, we knew that we were dealing with a company that appeared to be a step above the rest. He was very responsive and professional, providing us with detailed information about our roof and their work, and answers to all of our questions. The quote he provided was thorough and competitive. We had made contact with two other companies, but we felt that there was no comparison with Hillside.

Once the work commenced, there were some problems that had not been expected and needed to be corrected. (Our roof had been modified in 2000 as part of a remodel, and I recall our general contractor commenting about how amazingly fast and cheap the roofer that he hired was. Now we know why!) Hillside promptly corrected every deficiency from 2000 to meet code.

The work crew was amazing. We've never seen a crew of any kind that worked so fast, hard, and professionally. At one point, looking up and out our bedroom window, I saw one of the crew working close by. I thanked him for "roofing" our house. He corrected me, "No, we are REPAIRING your house!" Going with Hillside was definitely the right decision.

Trevor from Hillside Roofing was amazing to work with. Very responsive. He came out to our property multiple times to put in some interim repairs while our torched down roofing project was waiting in the queue. Trevor was professional, knowledgeable, transparent, genuinely enthusiastic. He and his team put up a good new roof for our house. We appreciate their work and are happy with our new roof.

I highly recommend using Hillside roofing. But first let me tell you about my selection process. I wanted a roofing company, not a construction company that sometimes does roofing. I also wanted a local company that was close by and didn't have to drive 40 minutes to my job site. I then looked on Google maps and did a search for roofing companies, and I did look at some brief reviews on the Google map results.

I arrived at a list of 11 potential companies in the Mountlake Terrace area. Next, I checked all companies on the Better Business Bureau web site. I eliminated six for various reasons by reviewing the BBB information. Now I was down to a list of five companies, I used each company website to request a quote. Only four responded to my inquiry using their own website form. I then contacted these four and arranged for each to come out on site for a quote. Of the four appointments, three showed up.

My particular job is a two-story house, around 1500 ft² on the roof, and removing two layers of existing asphalt shingle. I wanted a good quality 30 year asphalt shingle replacement. I received a quote from all three and they were all very close costwise and terms, etc. I had questions about one of the quotes from one company, but they never respond to my questions! So cross them out. I was now down to two companies to choose from and I selected Hillside. Sometimes it just comes down to a gut feeling who's going to do a good job for you.

Tom of Hillside always met every commitment, he was on time, and always answered any question I had very quickly. He's very busy and books up quickly, but we worked out a schedule that worked for both of us. And he held to this schedule and got the job done in two and a half days!

I liked his crew. They always came out on time. They worked very hard on very hot August days. At the end of each day they always cleaned up the work site and left everything clean. Tom came out a couple times to check on things, and once to answer a question I had and he made it right.

I know this is a very long write up review, but if you're like me, it's a lot of money you're spending on your house and you want it to be done right. And you don't want complications. If you follow the same selection process I outlined, I think there's a very good chance that you'll come to the same conclusion that I did.

Tom and his team were great from start to finish! They were able to fit us in earlier in the summer than expected, cleaned up nicely at the end of each day, and did their best to protect my garden. In addition Tom checked in once or twice a day to make sure I was happy. Equally important, Tom’s team of workers got breaks during the day, including an hour long lunch break, were constantly laughing and talking as if they enjoyed working together, and stopped work early since it was very hot while they were working all of which suggests they are well taken care of. This is the second roof Hillside has installed on this 101 year old house, the last one for the prior owners, maybe they’ll do a third in 50 years!

I learned of Hillside through a recommendation shared on a neighborhood (Queen Anne) mailing list, and hired them for the removal and replacement of our existing roof, which was reaching end of life.

I was extremely happy with Hillside through the entire process. In particular, Trevor's communication was excellent, answering every inquiry promptly, even during off hours and over the weekends. The job took about 6 days with a crew of 3 workers. The workers were extremely polite and respectful of our yard, house, and family. The final clean-up job was immaculate. I also valued that Trevor would send us pictures and updates through the process, giving us insight to progress and workmanship you cannot see from the ground. We received about 50 pictures throughout the week!

The new roof looks great -- it's exactly what we wanted. During the process they found and corrected a few issues from a previous remodel job that required new plywood. The cost for that was less than $100, which was much less than I expected. Overall I had a great experience with Hillside, they were professional and customer-focused and would happily recommend them in the future.

We had a great experience working with Tom and the Hillside Roofing team. When we moved into our house, there was an existing mold issue in the attic because of poor attic ventilation. The remediation plan involved adding several new vents. At the same time, the roof was at the end of its lifespan, so it made sense to take care of both at the same time.

Hillside's bid was reasonably priced, and Tom communicated reliably while we waited a few months for the materials to come in. We were interested in a EuroShield rubber roof, and are very happy with our decision to go with it. We went with the grey Vermont Slate style and definitely recommend it so far. Tom was knowledgable about the material, and the team who did the installation were great. They worked with us, and the mold remediation company, to figure out the best plan for the new vents.

When they were finished, we noticed that the ridge shingles were not quite centered. I mentioned this to Tom, and he was very responsive in having the team come back to fix that aesthetic detail to our liking.

Overall, the new roof looks really great, and hopefully the new venting solution will prevent mold in the future. Tom and the team were a pleasure to work with. Thank you!

We’ve lived in our home for over 15 years and it was time to replace our roof. Since this was our first time, we did our due diligence and brought in 5 different companies for an estimate. Since I’m an engineer, I was impelled to create a decision matrix to fairly evaluate our options based on what was important to us, including customer service, cost and experience. Dan from Hillside Roofing was on our list, because he was highly recommended by a neighbor. What most impressed us about Dan when he came to our home for the inspection was that he’s an experienced roofer, not a salesperson. Of the 5 companies we invited to our home, Dan was the only person to invite us to join him on the roof inspection, and we learned a lot! Even the ‘mold’ that some of the other roofers found, Dan pointed out was actually concrete on the wood used for the rafters since it was common practice for a house our age to use concrete forms in roof construction. Although the other roofers provided us with an estimate at the time of visit, it took almost a week to get one from Dan, but it turned out to be the most reasonably priced and no down payment required. There was no sales pressure whatsoever, compared to one of the roofers who tried to pressure us to sign up on spot to secure a discount rate that was still much much more than what Hillside charged.

When it came time to do the roof, the crew showed up right on time and got to work. They were very professional, respectful of our landscaping and kept the worksite very clean. They even installed an additional vent so we can install a fan in our bathroom for a future project. Work was complete in 2 days. The Malarky Highlander NEX AR shingles look great and we’re thrilled that they were even able to replace the small section of torch down above our entranceway. All of the other roofers either did not do torch down or if they did, it was too small to meet their minimum requirements.

We were also thrilled that Dan came back after the roof was installed and invited my husband up on the roof again to walk around and inspect. We’ve had some pretty torrential rains since the roof was installed and all is well. We have already and will in the future, highly recommend Hillside Roofing for our friends, family and neighbors!

It was a dark and stormy afternoon. Really. Epic rains leaving standing water on our streets and flooding throughout the region. And that’s when we discovered water dripping through the kitchen ceiling.

More than a decade ago, we re-roofed our house with the Hillside Roofing. Not knowing what to do in this situation, all I could think of was to give them a call and relate our crisis. I had no idea about terms of warranty, reasonable expectations, etc. – we just needed help and direction!

Quite unexpectedly, the folks at Hillside said, “We’ll be right over” – and they were! They arrived within forty minutes in the midst of that late afternoon storm, and spent the next hour and a half responding to our disaster. Working away on a slippery roof, it turned out to be a leaky gutter, not a leaking roof. None-the-less, these two good men from Hillside created an inventive fix that stopped the leak and secured our property.

In this age when ‘customer service’ is almost an oxymoron (tried calling your cable company recently?), we were overwhelmed with the rapid response, incredible thoughtfulness, and true customer care shown by Hillside Roofing. There really aren’t enough superlatives to express our respect for this company’s ethics, and the kindness shown to us by these good people at Hillside.

Dan has helped twice with two water intrusion issues in my roof and gutter. Both times he was super responsive, helpful, and quick to get the job done. His team was on-time and professional. Highly recommend.

Called in for a leaky roof repair, they were fast to schedule me for a complimentary onsite inspection, Trevor came out took a look in my attic and went on to the roof figured out what the problem was, a hole on the plywood underneath the singles, he then went ahead with a professional repair by placing a metal plate over the hole and caulked around it to prevent water from getting in, it was quick and Trevor made sure that there won’t be any problems in the future by putting extra caulkings around the singles. Highly recommended for anyone who needs a repair or replacement of their roof.

I could not have been happier with Hillside Roofing. They were responsive to all my many questions and texts and emails, did everything we discussed including fixing previous roofing errors at no additional charge, protected my plants and landscaping around my house, and were done quickly. Tom and Trevor are pros who took time to explain the nuances of the job. This was really helpful in my case, since the roofing material on my house is made from less common materials. A nice finishing touch: When the job was done, they took the time to fold the tarps I'd had up!

Hillside Roofing and Gutters came highly recommended to us through a neighbor, who received their information from a friend who used Hillside to replace their roof. We met Greg, got a quote and didn't even bother with a 2nd opinion. He gave his honest opinion about the state of our roof, what his recommendations were, along with quotes to fix some leaks and to completely replace the roof. We decided to replace the roof and even though we had a few minor hiccups due to unusually installed skylights, Greg and his team finished the work with the highest quality and care. Since then another neighbor on our street has replaced their roof with Hillside and we will continue to recommend them to friends and neighbors.

From the outset, our experience with Hillside Roofing was extraordinarily positive.

In contrast with the several other companies from which we sought bids, the approach by Tom Nettlebeck and his associates was exemplary in its professionalism: personalized, informative, hands-on.

Hillside took comprehensive pictures of the state of our 20-years-plus roof, including its eccentric, difficult-to-access areas. There really was no question of the need for replacement and peripheral repairs.

Equally important, we were delighted that on their initial visit Tom and his assistant Trevor took plenty of time to talk with us, giving detailed answers to our many questions.

Following these initial exchanges, Hillside stayed in regular touch with us, letting us know when our roofing project would be scheduled. When the roofing crew arrived on day one, Tom was here to introduce them to us and to give specific instructions. On a personal note, Tom knew how concerned we were about potential damage to the years-worth of garden plantings in front and back. Thanks to the crew’s diligence, not a single plant was harmed. Amazing. Daily and final clean-up were meticulous, thorough.

At the conclusion of the project, we much appreciated the pictures Hillside provided of the whole process and the absolutely beautiful result. Noting that a small, badly roofed bay-window needed special treatment, Tom arrived a day later to personally take care of this final problem.

Because of Hillside’s responsiveness and expertise, what loomed as a very stressful experience turned into three days of calm confidence in work that proceeded swiftly and smoothly. We are immensely relieved, deeply grateful — and confirmed admirers of Tom Nettlebeck and company.

I called Hillside to get an inspection on my roof and an estimate to replace it. The roof had two layers of shingles so it was a lot of work on their part. They were very responsive doing the estimate as well as doing the work and it was very price competitive. In addition to replacing the shingles they had to replace some of the sheathing underneath the shingles. I would highly recommend them for anyone needing to have a roof repaired or replaced.

Highly recommend! Tom and his crew were amazing! He kept me posted every step of the way. His guys showed up promptly at 8am and worked so hard while they were here and then cleaned up nicely at the end of every day. I LOVE my new roof and my home inspector friend looked it over and said they did excellent work - their workmanship is fantastic.

Hillside was quick and courteous, coming out to inspect and provide an estimate for the replacement of 23 year old roof. We had some tiles break and blow off during some winter wind storm so we knew we need to get a new roof.

The provided and estimate and we decided to go with Owen Corning (OC) but to get the full warranty we need to that there was a certain number of products and that the installer was at least a preferred installed. Hillside is a preferred installer and they worked with us to insure we had at least the three different OC products. (Please insure you read any warranty requirements before you purchase to insure you will be covered. Visit the manufactures sight).

Tear off of the roof and installation of the underlayment was the first day. There were no issues and the crew cleaned up the site before leaving. One advantage of Hillside is that they provide pictures of the whole process that you can download daily. There were two location where sheeting was damaged and they provided the photographic evidence. This is really important with the incredible raise in pricing for plywood in 2020/2021 so far.

Delivery of the tiles and other materials were made by their material provider later the first day so everything was ready for installation on day two.

Day two progressed nicely and about 3/4 of the roof was done to include installing a new ridge vent (highly recommend ridge venting if you have not thought of it, nicer lines with a greater venting capacity).

Day three was wrapping everything up and a clean up crew came out to clean up the flower beds and grass from the debris. We have found a few old roof staples here and there and on our deck (deck ones were probably under some of the furniture being in the way).

Otherwise a great experience and the roof looks just beautiful.

Dan South was very helpful when he first reviewed my roof. He took the time to answer my questions and took photos from his roof inspection to use during our discussion. He provided a quote quickly and did not pressure sell me. Once I selected Hillside, Dan stayed in touch to inform me of the schedule. Once the project started, Dan stopped by to check in on the workers and to answer any of my questions. The two employees who removed my old roof and installed my new roof were very nice and respectful of my property. My roof and gutters look good and I am very satisfied with the job.

Hillside roofing agreed to assist my family on incredibly short notice after our roof began leaking. Not only were they incredibly professional, they were able to find the source of the leak, recommend an affordable fix and provide a number of optional services that would improve our home. I can’t recommend these guys enough and will be going to them for any future issues.

This week Hillside Roofing & Gutters, Inc. replaced our fiberglass roof on our patio with a metal roof. They did a fabulous job and went beyond the call of duty. Thank you to both Tom and Trevor who worked together to get the job done, what an improvement.

Working with Dan and his company was great. A few years back when we asked for a quote, he told us that we could wait a few years to replace our roof, that it didn't need it yet if we didn't want to do it yet. So now a few years later, we proceeded. Dan is quick to respond to emails and inquiries, explains everything and answered my many questions. My coworker recommended them (having used them for their own roof replacement) and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else. The installers were clean and picked up after themselves. We are pleased with the work they have done.

They were awesome from start to finish. I engaged Hillside because the roof on my new (to me) floating home was leaking. They patched it to get me through much or the winter and then came back and replaced the roof. Sergio and Salvador worked incredibly hard and did a beautiful job. Recommended to us by our remodel contractor. Dan and his crew did a great job replacing our roof, skylight and gutters. 2 days for the roof/sky light and 1/2 day for gutters. The price was comparable to other bids, but 1) they didn't try to pressure is into anything & 2) they didn't ask for any $ up front. They were prompt, didn't leave early and cleaned up thoroughly when it was done.

I dont have a ton of time so I only write reviews when the experience with the company is either really good or really bad. In this case it was really good! Dan from Hillside Roofing came to my house to help me figure out why there was a leak that was happening in my roof. He explained everything clearly, spent a ton of time to investigate the cause and even helped me clear out some gunk in my gutters. In the end he fixed the issue and did the right thing for me as the customer while keeping the costs (and his profit) down when he easily could have tried to talk me into more expensive service. I will use Hillside for any roofing related issue in my current house or any house I own in the future.
