Hickey Contracting & Roofing

New roofs generally last 15yrs but for our (about a 6yr old now) roof that was installed from Hickey... Had to call multiple times for leaks. Only question asked was can you see light? My answer was no, but I see water. No one ever came to fix yhe leak. Contacted another company and was shown pictures on a hole and nails on seams as to where problem is. I don't recommend Hickey's services from my experience.

Just had my roof done by Joe and his crew- very happy with the results and the ease of dealing with Joe. He helped me out by moving up my project from august to last week because some of the leaks I had got more serious. He is attentive to needs, and gives an honest and fair quote. The quality of his work can be seen in the photos attached. As I continue to purchase homes, I will continue use Hickey contracting.

I had to have an emergency roof assessment made for my home insurance renewal and Joe stopped by, took a quick look and wrote up a report right away for us. He was so professional and helpful, we can’t recommend the company enough!

What a great contractor! Showed up when they said they would, listened to what we wanted. Made great suggestions and were skilled to do all the types of work we needed done. They did a great job and we are very pleased with the result.

Fantastic job on my roof. They got back to me in a very timely manner, and had the new roof up in just a couple of days. Everybody on the crew was extremely pleasant. Great job!

Real good experience I called the company on Thursday morning 3/27/20 and got a call back within 5 minutes by the owner Joe. He had a 2 man crew out the very next morning at the time I was told they would arrive. The 2 guys that came out were great. Very thorough, good communication, answering my many questions and took there time. Pricing seemed reasonable and much less then another roofing company I was considering using. I had multiple phone conversations with Joe the owner related to this work and he was great.

Description of Work:

Mortar work done on top of chimney ,a chimney cap was put on, some caulking around the roof vents to prevent leaks and even knocked a dormant bees nest off the side of the house I could not reach.

I can't say enough about this company. I was looking for someone to come to my house and inspect a roof leak. Call after call to other companies went unanswered. I tried Hickey Contracting and Joe answered right away. He was really friendly and told me he could inspect my roof the next business day. He came out looked things over and I haven't had any issues since. I would highly recommend this company.

I’ve been going back and forth with Joe for THREE months. There is a hole in my patio roof and I’m getting water damage especially raining into my electrical outlet when it rains. Obviously this has not been a priority for him. He keeps telling me “next week.” When I called him one time he actually asked me who I was. Claimed he got a new phone even though he referenced something I wrote in a previous text. Uh ok. I keep asking for a contract, written statement, something scribbled on a cocktail napkin maybe? He shows up at my house expecting to do work even though I said I need a contract at least a day before so sig other can look over. Sends me the contract and it’s not even what we talked about. So what kind of work was he going to do when he came over? We still couldn’t agree what was to be done when we talked on the phone. Again said he would send me one. Never got it. He left msg for me last week but after THREE months and no contract, I’m just done! I don’t need anymore excuses. I need my roof fixed. I wonder if I was a man would I be having these problems?

Response to business: the ONLY communication I did not return was on 7-26. Almost 3 months after I initially called. By then I had given up.

Installed a roof. Have had nothing but problems since about year three. I have been friendly because Joe said it would be taken care of and it was by sending guys out to constantly replace shingles. And now when I got fed up with this response, he said he wanted to take care of it and it hasn't been. Have had issues with shingles popping. Because it was not installed correctly. Had other roofing companies come out and tell me it was not done correctly. Joe's team also did a roll down roofing on a flat back porch. They installed the roofing over existing shingles. It never stuck. Nothing but problems. I tried to be fair but I am done now. And stuck with the bill for a new roof after about 8 years of dealing with popping shingles, sliding shingles, and Joe's teams not responding. Good luck to Hickey and those that have had good success with this team. I am sure their project was done correctly.

Very nice and respectable !!! They do a really nice job and are always on time. He answers his phone when you call if he doesn’t he returns call quickly.

I had a pretty significant leak allowing water into an apartment. They responded quickly and were able to make repairs they next day before the next wave of rain rolled through. Joe was very responsive and easy to work with.

Great experience working with this company, very professional and experienced in all aspects of construction. They helped us solve a problem we were having and went above and beyond courtesy. Thanks again.

We paid Hickey contracting $3000 to repoint our two chimneys after we had water come in. After months of rework, but still no fix, I had another contractor look at their work. Turns out they put caulking in between my bricks instead of mortar. I’ll let you draw your own conclusion.

Seemed very nice when we talked on the phone Originally scheduled to come the next day, within an hour to two I had to reschedule. Agreed for Thursday that week, but to follow up Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and no replies to text messages, no returned call or response to a voicemail. A week later still no communications. I cannot comment on the quality of work as there wasn't even decency to return a phone call/text.

Reasonably priced, prompt and courteous service. I had a major gutter failure and the work was completed the day after I called. I appreciate that the workers took the time to explain what was broken, how they planned to fix it, and were clear about the cost. Looking forward to doing business with this company again.

We had a roof leak which caused some damage in our dining room. Hickey contracting put on a new beautiful roof and fixed the damage in our dining room like it never even happened. Also, the guys who did the work were so kind and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend them and will be contacting them for more home improvements in the future. These guys were flat out amazing on all fronts and really enjoy their work. It shows and speaks volumes. It's hard enough to get a roofer to pick up the phone sometimes. I called these guys on a Sunday, they were out the next day and had the whole repair job done, and done well, explained everything, showed all the problem spots, and were all around exceptional to work with and all done within less than 24 hrs from initial call to completion.

I would highly recommend this company. Their quality of work was excellent. They replaced a slate roof with shingles and this was no easy task. Their pleasantness while working was enlightening. My roof is beautiful! Thank you Hickey Contractors for such excellent work and a very reasonable price.

Called Hickey Contracting to see about re-lining my box gutters. Ended up getting them to side my house also. Very happy with the finished product! Joe made sure to stay in my budget and the crew worked fast to get the job done. Will definitely be calling them again for any house project that may arise and would recommend that you give them a call if you are considering a project around your house.

I’m so glad we picked this company, they did an outstanding job! I would like to thank Joe, Liam and their crew for such fast and excellent work! We had a leaky roof that had ruined a bedroom ceiling. They replaced the shingles on the roof in one day and completely cleaned up, it looks great! Hickey Contracting is my first call for those moments in life when a piece of soffit decides to fall to the ground or a small waterfall unexpectedly appears indoors. Joe is straightforward and outcome oriented on the phone. His team is excellent - they arrive on time, they are extremely professional and they explain exactly what the problem is before fixing it. Their rates are reasonable and my experience with them has been fantastic. I would highly recommend them based on my experiences.

Great guy to deal with, and they have a great attention to detail. Be sure to give them a call next time you need some work done !

Little liar is what Joe is. His work had to be redone at least twice!!! He did a large project for us, we hired him based on the reviews, people need to be honest, many of the reviews here are from him and his workers!!! Wish we knew the names and caught onto his lies early. Be aware, and if you do hire him, DO NOT pay until project is complete and you're satisfied with the result.

I cannot say enough about Joe's professionalism, integrity and workmanship. Joe made sure he called to keep us abreast of when he would be able to start our roof and how long it would take and everything took place as anticipated!

Our roof looks wonderful and I am pleased to have found someone that we were able to actually trust.

We look forward to having Joe do more work to our home in the future and we would recommend him to anyone that's in need of a good roofer.

Seriously no playing with these guys! Get in and do their job and do not play around or rarely any or at all breaks. When I called they were here the next day, ordered the products and did it this weekend. 6 hours later they were. Done. Super professional, friendly, funny and all around great guys.

This winter I had some ice damage to my box gutter which allowed water into my house and ruined my ceiling. I called Joe and he was there the next day to assess the damage. They fixed my gutter and put a new ceiling with recessed lighting in living room. All the work was top quality and done quickly. The workers are very nice and friendly as well. I have already called them back for additional work and wouldn't use anyone else. The prices were very reasonable and they are responsive to calls and texts. I highly recommend them for any contracting needs you may have.
