I wanted to share my experience so this doesn’t happen to anybody else. My dad was a concrete guy. He is dead or I would’ve asked for some help. I am handicapped so I needed to hire someone to help me pour a cap on a retaining wall made out of ecology blocks. I built the retaining wall myself, so it was not perfect. The cap was going to be deep in some places and a minimum of 4 inches in other places. Not an issue there. However, I provided the lumber and Paid for the concrete And provided fence post brackets to be installed in the wet concrete. I don’t think the concrete was mixed right because it is crumbling in places Two weeks later. In one of the photos, you can clearly see evidence that a full bag was thrown in to the formed area, chances are it was done more than once. The fence post brackets are breaking out of the concrete. I don’t know what happened, but It’s not level. It has waves. Home Depot called me and told me that this contractor was trying to return Supplies. I don’t know if he ran out of concrete or what, but I have all sorts of dips underneath my fence now because of it. The corner of the cap in one location is about to break out Which sucks because I have a fence post there. The day of the pour They didn’t start until later in the day. They finished at 10 PM. It was dark and I couldn’t really see well. Being that I have an above knee amputation it’s hard for me to walk in the dark. He asked for more money because it was deep in some places. Even though I told him he was going to be deep in some places when he came to look at the job. I feel like the job was done as quick as possible to gain the most margin as possible. Paid $4250. when I confronted him about the bag of concrete that is clearly visible as a whole bag thrown in and then watered, he told me that that is just paper from the bag they used to stuff in the cracks, so it didn’t leak out the bottom of the forms. That technique could’ve been used were needed, but clearly a whole bag was thrown down. I don’t think he was being truthful.
Honest price for honest work. Fernando installed new patio tile and hung two fans in two rooms for us, great work, great attention to detail, and he explained different outcomes and possibilities given our situation with the deck. Very knowledgeable, would definitely recommend.
