Customer feedback on GVRD Roofing is largely positive, with many praising the company's prompt response times, professionalism, and quality of work. Multiple reviews highlight their efficiency in addressing emergency situations and their willingness to communicate effectively throughout the process. However, one significant complaint involves poor workmanship resulting in further damage, which has raised concerns about accountability. Despite this issue, the majority express satisfaction with the services provided and recommend GVRD Roofing to others.
- I highly recommend GVRD Roofing for anyone looking for experienced roofing experts.
- GVRD Roofing was quick to respond to my call and got someone out to take a look the same day.
- They were very professional, and can’t believe how amazing our roof turned out.
- Friendly staff, clean the work area, and they made sure that the customer is happy before they leave.
- Chris was quick to respond on the phone and sent someone to inspect our flat roof leak within a few days.
- GVRD Roofing would not accept responsibility for any of this and we eventually contracted with another firm to repair the damage created by GVRD Roofing.
- The workmanship was horrible , overflow drain covered over, serious water pooling, and MAJOR leakage into the kitchen below.
- When the fix wasn't sufficient, I called Chris who sent his team back to take another look and complete the work.

If I had only known then what I know now. I engaged GVRD Roofing to fix a problem with a rooftop deck. No only did they not fix the problem, the workmanship was horrible – overflow drain covered over, serious water pooling, and MAJOR leakage into the kitchen below to the extent that the ceiling drywall cracked open to allow the water through. GVRD Roofing would not accept responsibility for any of this and we eventually contracted with another firm to repair the damage created by GVRD Roofing and finish the job properly. Later, we sought and received an unqualified court judgement against GVRD Roofing regarding this fiasco.

Chris and his staff were awesome. We are happy with the work they did on our shed roof. I highly recommend them.

Called them to repair an emergency leak in the upstairs bathroom roof. I explained the situation and was quoted 'a couple hundred'. They sent someone over within a couple hours (this was the weekend too, I was impressed).
The guy came, took a look, found the hole in the roof (and 2 others), and told me he could seal them. I asked if he could also tarp one of the areas as well. He said he could, though he didn't think it was necessary. I asked him what the cost would be, and he said '5 or 6 hundred, though I'm not really the pricing guy so I don't know'. I mentioned the original guy we spoke to thought it would be a couple hundred but the guy on-site explained since it's more work than they thought so it would be more.
I agreed, and he did the work (and covered one of the areas with a tarp I bought). He left after less than 2 hours.
The next day I got an invoice for $1200, with no line items for what labour cost, materials, anything. Just $1200 and a couple lines of descriptors.
I called to ask about the massive discrepancy and he said 'oh, that what the on-site guy said to charge... I guess I'll talk to him again' which didn't instill confidence in me. He sent a revised invoice for $750 a little later.
I'm glad it's not $1200 but I would encourage anyone working with GVRD Roofing to get a quote in writing, and also sign off on work to be done with a quoted amount.
To be clear, the roofing work seems fine (and I'm glad they were able to come so quickly), it's just the quoting and invoicing that I have a problem with. Paying 3.5 times the amount quoted over the phone, and still more than the on-site guy's estimate doesn't feel great.

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.
The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.
Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.
Roof leak repair cost generally ranges from $300 to $800, depending on the size and location of the leak, the materials required, and labor intensity. Complex leaks involving structural repairs or interior damage will cost more.
Flat roof repair cost for commercial properties usually ranges from $500 to $3,000, depending on the roofing material (TPO, EPDM, PVC), the extent of the damage, and roof accessibility.
Mobile home roof replacement cost typically ranges from $3,000 to $8,000, making it generally more affordable than traditional home roof replacements, due to smaller size and simpler structure.
It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.
The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.
To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.
Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.
When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.
Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
