Guthrie's Ace Hardware- Chapel Hill

GREAT PRICE, COMMUNICATION, and SERVICE!Placed an order online from Ace because they had what I wanted a 10cu. ft. wheelbarrow with wood handles and it was the best price out there. The site said it would be to delivered to the store and then to my house free of charge. Guthries called on Thursday to tell me it was in and they were going to deliver it on Friday. On Friday the gentleman called me and said he would be there in 20 minutes. And to top it all off it was assembled too! I work in retail and you were spot on with Great Customer Service! Thanks!

They never seem to carry anything I need. No black half inch pipe fittings in stock, no gray silicone caulk in stock. No emt pipe fittings. They didn’t have any starting/seeding soil that was organic, only a singular bag of miracle gro. They had two rolls of hardware cloth which were around 10 feet. No pipe or fittings for a wood burning stove, that includes straight pipe, elbow, etc. No outlet plate for 3 switches, and didn’t carry any longer/extended outlet screws. Those are just some of the recent visits. I did have a manager that was helpful offering his time to find my item and another employee offer to help. But overall, I find myself driving down to shelbyville’s ace or the coops nearby.

As another review states they are constantly out of stock and don’t carry common items.

New to area last year and doing a lot of remodel work. Employees are very nice, but bins have been empty for over a year on basic electrical and plumbing items. I try to shop here first but no one is running the store with authority to order as I have asked all of them. A shoulder shrug is all I can get from employees. Over stocked on grills and sleds, but no single throw switches or pvc plumbing elbows. Basic parts bins have never had an item in them for 14 months as I have checked every week. It is really sad but hi margin items must over ride basic hardware items. Prices are very high but I will pay high prices for a place that has what I need.. Also I have given them my Ag sales tax exemption 50 times. They claim their system will not store the info. Could that be the same system that does not let them know when they sell out of an item to re-order it?

Great customer service! Husband received a Green Egg as a retirement gift and Guthrie’s Ace hardware did an awesome job in delivering the product. Wonderful communication and professional when assembling the table/installing the Egg. They made it an easy process from beginning to end. Would highly recommend!!!

This store is always so nice to visit. Great inventory and great staff. Got a nice grill cover On Sale today! And their mums are always nice. Chris helped me order some cleaner for our fireplace; they didn’t have it in stock. But Chris placed the order and took my information down so he can notify me when it comes in. Now thats great customer service.

I’ve been coming to Guthrie’s for about a year now. Always been meaning to write a review. I’ve purchased several items. I can’t say enough about the staff. Everyone is helpful, friendly and courteous. The young men who work there are always respectful. They were all obviously raised right. Just like you’d expect from a small town hardware store. Kenneth has been the standout. I’ve purchased a couple of Stihl power tools and Kenneth went out of his way to get them registered with the manufacturer for me. He’s always friendly and helpful whenever I have an issue with them. He’s beyond patient. He never makes me feel foolish even when I bring in a tool after I’ve done something lame brained. He’s an excellent teacher. He’s very good with explaining things. I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather go than Guthrie’s here in Chapel Hill. The service is outstanding.

Love Ace. Fortunate to have it in a small but growing town. They have all the obscure stuff I seem to always need most of the time.

5 out of 10 times I am disappointed. Half the time there is an empty bin where something they stock should be and the other times they just don’t stock common items. I would be better driving 25 minutes the other way then spending 30 minutes to find out you are out of stock or don’t carry. You are a hardware store in a small town that could make a killing. The premium price you charge is ok with me as long as you have what I need. My suggestion, with the size of your foot print. Take half the stock out of tools and refill the bins with hardware items. You are not the Milwaukee/Dewalt/Craftsman store. I will update with photos of missing items and empty bins. Tried one more time. 2 20a outlets. See all the empty bins. It is what it is.

One of my favorite stores to shop in Chapel Hill, I do a " LOT" of business here and they never fail to supply , the most friendly and helpful group of people run this place , always greet & ask if they can help as soon as you walk through the door, I'm in and out this store so much each week the whole staff is like family

Glenn was so helpful when I was in store to purchase a new Traeger 780. They only had the floor model and he didn't hesitate to let me haveit for Memorial Day weekend so I didn't have to wait a week for one to arrive. Great customer service ,great staff and so much to chose from. This will definitely be where I purchase all of my Traeger accessories and supplies.

My husband frequents this store at least once a week and always comes home w what he went for. He also always says how friendly and helpful the workers are. Nice to have such a great store in CH!!

Great little hometown hardware store. Friendly and helpful staff. They carry a good selection of merchandise especially when you consider their small store size. If they don't have what you are looking for, they'll try to get it for you.

I’ve been sitting here just observing the crew while a family member is looking for some plumbing attachments. This crew works so well together. They communicate flawlessly. They greet every customer who walks through the door. If you look a little lost you can bet an associate will approach you and offer help. I highly recommend this location for all of your hardware needs.

Some things are very high in price and than other things are not. You really need to know what you are willing to spend.
When driving for quick hardware needs, you can spend maybe a couple of dollars more or you can spend that amount in gas driving.

Great customer service but Ace has an aweful website. Don't depend on it for accurate inventory. Definitely don't make online paint purchases.

Everyone there are a joy to talk to.very helpful. Would not go anywhere else. I believe in giving my money to a small business/owner. Once again couldn't ask for a nicer bunch of people

Great store with a tremendous selection of products. Attendants are always friendly. The store is clean and merchandise is well organized.

Friendly staff helped sign me up for rewards coupons. I went in for small hinges to make a small box, expecting them to not have any. But hey, they had 1", and 1.5" hinges in different packs from which to choose. Overall, 10/10. Happy with my experience.

Great location, not very busy, staff is very friendly, I was amazed to see the options in the store, well stocked. I will surely be going there for my next pickup and instore purchases.

I drove all the way from Murfreesboro to buy a grill . When I got there it was $219.99 but online it said $199.99. It was almost labor day weekend so i went ahead and bought the grill instead of driving to Nashville . I would not recommend doing business with them . They put one price online then when you get to the store it's a different price

Dropped by here a while back. As is with most Aces, it's got a decent selection of goods and super nice employees. I was wearing one of my Nebraska Huskers shirts and an employee started talking to me about Nebraska since she was originally from Wakefield, NE. I can't remember her name. Gosh, I wanna say it was Rebecca, but I honestly don't remember.

I love going to Ace Hardware, everyone is so helping, smiling and tell me where the lane and show me the best tool. I give them out if 1 through 5.

Purchased a pair of their hanging flower baskets back in April. It's 3 times the original size and we're just watering it everyday. Worth the money we spent!

They’re well stocked, reasonably priced, and they have a very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
