Alan replaced our small rotting deck with a beautiful sturdy Trex deck. He was very professional and attentive to details, and quite inventive when he had to design a small trapdoor for us to access the dryer cleanout vent. The resulting deck is beautiful and functional, and he communicated well when he would be on the job, how long it would take, etc. I would highly recommend him, and we even called him back to re-roof our wood shed. He is now in my speed-dial for future projects.

We hired Alan to repair a huge rotting deck. He ended up having to saw off some of the old wood, rebuild a number of our railing posts, rebuild the entire bottom deck frame, completely rebuild 2 sets of stairs that were crooked, and added 2 new sets of stairs, an entire bottom railing, and new top railings on our upper deck. We used Trex decking for all of it and it looks amazing since Alan used the side and hidden brackets. Seriously, the list of work he did is long and I'm sure that I missed something. It was a HUGE job. We are very happy with the result and would highly recommend Alan. In fact, we already have referred him! He was honest about the costs and shared receipts to show materials that he bought on his own. We basically just paid him time and materials which is unheard of these days. Hire him. You won't be disappointed.

Alan completely removed and replaced my old rotten cantilever deck from my house with a modern and up to code deck with Trex. I am completely happy with his work. Alan is professional, courtesy and knowledgeable. I will definitely rehire him for any other future projects; as well I would recommend him to family and friends. Alan completed the project on time as quoted and I believe he would have most likely finished it before schedule if WA winter weather hadn’t gotten in our way. When we ran into a couple supply issues I asked Alan “If this was your house what would you do?” I’m glad I went with his suggestions over mine as it clearly turned out for the best. I also really liked the fact Alan was excited about this project from start to finish. You could tell he enjoys what he does, which is a reflection in his work and the completion of the build. I’m looking forward to spending this summer with my family and hosting BBQ for many years to come.

Alan was a true professional! He came in to repair damages that were caused by my water heater bursting and flooding multiple rooms (garage, guest room and finished basement). He worked with me to find the best balance between quality and price of the materials we needed for the repairs. Very friendly and so accommodating, I would recommend him to anyone!

I honestly can’t say enough good things about Alan. He built two beautiful, good sized decks for us, one at ground level and one at second story height. He’s very knowledgeable and highly skilled. He’s also very easy to work with and a great communicator. He conferred with us every step of the way to make sure he was giving us exactly the look and quality we wanted. I recommend him without hesitation. In fact, we’ve hired him to do a third project for us that involves both exterior and interior work.

We were getting our property ready to sell and needed our front porch redone with not a lot of time to spare. Alan was recommended to us by another contractor who did a kitchen for us. Alan was great with communicating (calling back, texting and emailing) very quickly. His price was fair and he went well beyond what was expected by helping us out and getting the project done on our schedule. We were so happy with the finished project and our only regret was that we didn't get it done earlier so we could enjoy it. Alan had really good design ideas and made the deck cost us less and look much better than what we had originally proposed. We would definitely recommend Gravity Construction.

This is the third time I have used Alan for work on two different homes. He has built a deck, constructed a lot of fencing over a difficult multi level yard and most recently pergola rafters over a brick patio. He is fair, honest, timely and skilled. I am certain there is no job which he is incapable and I will definitely use him again.

I have used Alan for multiple projects last year. He has installed new doors and locks in the house, built an interior wall, installed shower doors, installed shower doors, and a rooves on the decks. All is work is done well, in a reasonable time, and at reasonable cost. I plan to use him again in the future.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
