Extreme Decks

This is the second time I contracted Extreme Decks to do work on my house. They did a great job replacing my roof! They were honest and reasonably priced. I appreciate the honesty and responsiveness of Aaron at Extreme Decks. The crew took great care of cleaning up at the end of the job.

They do a very honest job. They give good prices. They try to make sure everything is to your liking. The lady in the office who arranges/ schedules is very responsible, polite, and conscientious. I highly recommend them. They did a great job for us.

We called Extreme Decks about replacing part of the frame on our deck. The owner came out took a look. He was very knowledgeable and offered a fair quote, so we decided to go w them. They came out the next day replaced it and had everything put back together within 6 hrs. They did a great job and were easy to work with. We will def use them again when the time comes.

I got a new roof from Extreme Decks and I love it. They helped me pick the right color for my home. Their installation was timely and efficient. The workers did a great job cleaning up too, they knew I had dogs and made sure the ground was safe for them. I recommend Extreme Decks for your roof or deck!

Aaron is the best contractor I've ever worked with. He made the whole process easy from start to finish, has a great crew that does excellent work, and is competitively priced. They put up a new deck for me which is just beautiful, and I've already got my next job in mind for them. :)

It was a pleasure to have Extreme Decks build my new porch. It is awesome. From the beginning, when 1st contacted them until the last screw was put in, they were professional and very friendly. Aaron, the owner, the hard-working men, Beej, Al & and Matt, were all more than patient with my indecision making. I wasn't sure if I wanted a post where one was, and they were willing to remove it if I wanted them to without any hesitation. They are very precise in their work. They clean up every night. Extreme Decks is who you want to do business with. Aaron was very responsive, they started our deck project 2 days after we signed the contract. They were honest, they delivered exactly what we asked for. They are also perfectionists, the deck is very well built, with top of the line materials, and beautiful. Best contractor I’ve ever worked with. Aaron’s work is always perfection. Extreme Decks put a roof on my patio two years ago. This spring, I decided I wanted it screened in and knew kust who to call. Once more, they did not disappoint. The craftsmanship is excellent and the rate is very reasonable for what you get. Highly recommend!

My dog ran through the screen two weeks after it was finished. Aaron sent over two guys to fix it within days. It was my fault and I so appreciate this company. They truly are THE BEST!

Aaron, Angie, Ray and his guys truly are professionals at what they do and they did an outstanding job building the roof over our deck and installing a new railing system. They worked through good weather and bad to get everything built and finished and it looks beautiful. They took care of everything throughout the process from start to finish and made it worry free. They provided multiplie options for the roof, ceiling, siding and railings for us to choose from and gave their expert advice on it all, which I truly appreciated. I’ve recommended them to my neighbors and friends who are interested in getting covered decks…again, truly outstanding job, professional and excellent to work with! My husband and I would love to thank Aaron, Jason, Cody and Chris for the beautiful job they did for us on our deck, as seniors it is very hard to find someone who is not out there trying to rip off seniors. Aaron was pleasant and straightforward to deal with. His crew was efficient and courteous, always keeping an area clear of building materials and debris so the dogs could use the yard. Final price matched the estimate for roof, skylights, soffit/fascia, siding, and gutters/downspouts. He even sent someone back after the job was done, to fix deck rails that had to be cut to install new siding (before we even noticed or asked). We are very happy with the finished product and the price! Highly recommend this company!

If I could give extreme decks 100 stars I would. My 80 year old mom fell down her outside steps and broke her neck. This company came in zero degree weather the same week and replaced her steps and added a deck while she was in the hospital. That very same day they drove to my house down the street and added a railing so that I could watch my mom safely in my home while I work. I cant say enough positive things about Aaron and his guys. Thanking God for these talented men!

They were awesome. The best people I have ever had working in on or around my property... They did two big projects completely rebuilt a deck and repaired another... Will post pictures after I have The one stained and the other carpeted. I will be calling again when it's time for a roof or for anything cuz if they do it I'm going with them.

we just recently got the roof over our deck done and they did a great job! Followed up several times to make sure things were ok! They customized ours how we wanted and the guys were great to work with. Timely and reasonably priced.

We needed our old stairs and landings removed and replaced. Aaron came to our place and designed a completely new configuration that worked much better for our layout and added a new deck area that we never had prior. We talked colors and materials. Aaron was creative and showed us pictures on his phone of his installations that would be similar to what we wanted. We were impressed by the pictures of his work so we talked price and he said he would send his crew in a few days. His crew showed up 2 later and took my old stairs and landings down and hauled it all away. The crew of 4 worked very hard all day and were a lot of fun and all around nice guys. The foreman showed us what he had planned and made changes on the fly to meet our suggestions. They had my new stairs and deck constructed in 3 days. We couldn’t be more satisfied with the craftsmanship. I will always recommend Aaron and Extreme Decks to anyone who needs this kind of work.

Extreme Decks came out to do replacement on
our deck railing, and install a new door on our gazabo. Aaron was prompt and answered all my calls and text . His worker was on time and did an excellent job in two days. He cleaned up everything as well. We are so happy with their work and give them a five star! Will definitely recommend them, and use them again when needed.

Aaron and his crew did my mom's roof a while back. Everyone was professional and courteous. The price was definitely lower than a few other estimates that we received. They cleaned up perfectly after each day of work. I would highly recommend Extreme Decks to all my friends and family and will use them again for other home remodeling projects.

I rarely write reviews unless the service was either super horrible or extremely top notch. This is about the latter. We can't be more pleased with the deck that the crew at Extreme Decks (Beej, Al & Aaron) built for us (12x24 Timbertech deck, half covered with gable roof, plus stairs). The crew did their very best to accommodate every single request my wife has (and believe me, there were A LOT) to have a truly custom built deck. I could tell they put a lot of care into what they do to achieve the utmost level of perfection as Beej put it "we aim to please". They even brought extra material each day in anticipation of what my wife wanted to change without her even asking. The crew was courteous, hard-working and always cleaned up at the end of the day. Cost wise - the quote is very reasonable compared to others. There was a long wait time initially because of the pandemic but we're super glad we waited. Beej and Al came as contractors but left as friends. We will genuinely miss them when they finish. We are extremely happy and have recommended them to multiple friends. We are very proud of the deck and can't wait to spend time on it next summer! Thank you Beej, Al & Aaron - you guys are awesome and we can't ask for a better service. I can't wait for them to come back to build my fence and renovate our master bathroom.

I used Extreme Decks on multiple projects on both my houses including an enclosed porch, 2 tier deck that surrounds a pool, and for the installation of a porch roof. They also replaced the shingles and gutters on both houses. The owner Aaron responded very quickly to all concerns and was very accommodating on upgrades as the projects progressed. His employees are very respectful and clean up after themselves each day. I’ve recommended them to many friends and family and not one of them were disappointed. For the quality and workmanship the price is unbeatable!!!!!

If zero stars were an option...I'd choose that. Back in early March, I reached out to Aaron based off of a referral. He came out the next day, worked through some ideas with me, and gave me a quote. He said the job would be completed in May. Off the bat, I liked him. Good ideas, price was right, and seemed very nice. So...I was wrong. There was no contract ever provided. I reached out countless times via phone and text. Always a voicemail, and unanswered (but read) texts. Every once and a while, I'd get a call or a text back from his office manager with some excuses as to why he hadn't started. And that "we've never had a contract" for any of the jobs he's ever done, and "his word is as good as gold." LOL. Last contact from them was on June 6th. It's August 9th. Stay away. I've since hired a new company and am looking forward to finally getting my deck replaced.

I have used this company for a couple projects, over the last couple of years, and they have always provided a high quality finished product. They designed and built a deck, replaced of a roof, and completed some gutter services. I would recommend them for any project that you want a good experience from the beginning to the end.

THERE ARE NO WORDS! But here are a few. We love Aaron and his crew. Not only do they do an outstanding job but they also clean up after themselves. They installed our 10 x 30 deck with privacy wall, poured the patio beneath, and also installed the under deck ceiling. These men are exceptional at their craft and honest. I am very appreciative of the work that Extreme Decks recently completed at my parents' home. It's an older house, set high on a hill, so sturdy, safe steps are a very important necessity. The existing outside wooden steps, running from the front door down to the driveway (built many years ago by another construction company), had become dangerously loose and weak at a number of sections, most likely from heavy salting during many winters. In addition to this need, other steps running parallel down the driveway to the street, and that were composed of concrete paving blocks and slabs, had become loose over time as well.

Aaron Karis was very empathetic to the needs of my elderly parents and sister (their primary caregiver). He promptly sent out a team to facilitate the repairs. Ray and Danny thoroughly completed the extensive work in a very skillful, professional, and timely manner. Both men were very courteous in the process. I highly recommend Extreme Decks for consideration and plan to contact Aaron this summer for home improvement work at my own house.

Aaron and the crew of extreme decks built a beautiful porch roof for us. From the first phone call Aaron was prompted and professional quoted me a price which was very reasonable not the lowest but definitely not the highest. I waited a few months for the company to squeeze me in. They called 2 days before start and completed the job eight days later. (Missed two days because of severe weather). Ray,Eddie,Andre,and Dan were the nicest guys and very easy to work with. They were all very knowledgeable and hard working.
I will definitely use Extreme Decks again and highly recommend them to everyone who asks.

Aaron is knowledgeable, responsive and honest. He tells you what he will do and then does it! We had an 8’ x 10’ deck and wanted to enlarge it and add stairs. Aaron quoted us a price that wasn’t the lowest or highest quote we received but was very reasonable. His crew was excellent and did a thorough job. A couple of items needed attention after the job was completed and Aaron had it taken care of promptly. We are very satisfied with our deck and with our choice of Extreme Decks. We highly recommend them!

I am extremely happy with Aaron and his team and would recommend them. I needed updates to existing deck after a home inspection. Aaron and his guys provided a through inspection, made recommendations and completed a quality job well within my necessary timeframe. Aaron was in constant communication with me regarding when they would be here and what to expect. He almost immediately responded to my messages. The modifications were done professionally and the price was great. I would use Extreme Decks again and recommend them to anyone.

Aaron and his crew are exceptional. We recently had a deck built and door installed, and could not be happier with the end result. The crewmembers were very knowledgeable and went above and beyond in delivering a quality product (ie. noticing and replacing a minorly scratched deck board, rerouting a downspout to remove it's view from the deck, pitching a new idea for stairs partway through the project that turned out to allow the deck to double as a carport over our driveway). Additionally, they were very kind and respectful of our property while working.

We highly recommend Aaron and Extreme Decks. We hired him for a complex job in Fall 2020. It involved removing a "champagne" balcony from the back of our home so that a shed roof could be built over our elevated deck, framing and bricking in a new window where the balcony door had been, tying the shed roof into a "bump out" bay roof, replacing all of the old posts and header supporting the elevated deck, and replacing all of the gutters on our entire house.

Aaron's crew (Dave, Jimmy, and Fish) finished up last Friday (April 2021) and we couldn't be happier. The craftsmanship is exceptional. The creativity in problem solving was impressive. The roof looks original to the home, not like it was slapped on as an afterthought. They even matched the dentil moulding on the roofline and handled all of the electrical work, including installing flood lights, ceiling lights, a sconce, and a ceiling fan. The end result is that the deck now seems like a brand new room to our house. We absolutely love it.

We want to mention, too, how hardworking and courteous the crew were. They showed up between 10:30 and 11:00 each day (good not to anger the neighbors with noise too early) and worked non-stop until around 5:30 each day. It was impressive how much they got done each day.

Other reviews mention that there may be a wait. We waited about six months, from Fall to Spring. But, consider: Aaron kept us consistently updated, was responsive to questions, and was upfront about when he'd be able to get to the job; the pricing was excellent and didn't change from quote to completion, except for an add-on we requested; the work was superb; and, most importantly, Aaron was good to his word throughout -- on everything -- even though we did not insist on a formal written contract. We would rather wait a few extra months to get the job done right than hire a less-competent contractor to get it done in a rush. We're convinced that Extreme Decks is among the best options Pittsburgh has to offer if you want a high-quality, fairly-priced deck or above-deck roof.

Aaron and his team including Bob, Corey and Dan just finished our deck off our dining room. They finished the whole job in less than 5 days. They did an amazing job. We were so impressed with their good natures amd they aimed to please - giving us exactly what we wanted. We had a great experience with Extreme Decks, Aaron, Bobbie and crew! We had an aluminum porch roof replaced with a built in roof and a deck replaced. They both look great! They were courteous, professional, friendly, knowledgeable and we love the finished products.

I contracted Extreme Decks and Roofing to build a deck roof on our existing deck. I was hesitant to start this project because it would be retrofitting an existing deck to a new roof but Aaron assured me it would look great. Beej and his team went above and beyond for our needs and made the new deck roof look like it has always been there. I'm very satisfied with the product they have built.

Aaron and Team have done awesome job with the new Deck we built recently. Quality of workmanship, attention to detail was great. While it took some time to start the project (knowing all that is going on with this year) but once started, it took around 15 days to finish the work. The deck looks neat. Cost was reasonable and didn't have any surprises during or after the project. Would definitely recommend Aaron on team for Deck building.

We cannot say enough good about Aaron and the crew (Ray & Jimmy) that built our composite deck! Aaron is a great guy, very trustworthy, has very reasonable pricing and builds a top notch quality product! The craftmanship was beyond outstanding, the deck is solid as a rock and absolutely beautiful! Ray & Jimmy were polite & easy to talk to, worked hard and kept the worksite super clean! With everyone doing outdoor projects and the huge shortages of materials in the building industry this year due to Covid, it took a little longer for our deck to get started, but it was well worth the wait! We will absolutely have Aaron & his crew doing a few other projects for us and we highly recommend them without a doubt!

Aaron the owner was great to work with and his lead carpenter Andre is excellent. He rebuilt my existing wood deck with Trex it is beautiful, couldn't be more satisfied. These guys go out of their way to satisfy the customers expectations!

Aaron and his crew are one of the best in the industry. Three years ago i engaged him on installing an IPE deck. I contacted many deck builders but everyone was dreaded to touch IPE deck. Aaron like challenges and he wanted to do it. He did a fantastic job then. Last week i wanted to some remodeling of deck. He and his crew were extremely busy but he managed to squeeze a time slot for me and ensured it was done on-time and quality job. Again it was a bit challenging mod with Glulam beam and 8x8 posts. I am very certain no other deck builder would have touched that job. Aaron loves challenges and built it!.

One of my favorite person among his crew is Beige. He is one heck of a genius and hulk figure. He installed a freaking 500lb beam on 300 lb posts!. I love these folks.

Aaron came to our house to give an estimate on finishing our basement in late May. He was very professional and had fantastic ideas of how to finish it. We messaged him following his visit and booked him for services and he stated he should be able to have it done by mid June. We had to reach out to him for an update in June since we hadn’t heard from him and he said that it would just be a couple more weeks and he would reach back out. It’s now earlier August and that was the last time we ever heard from him. We attempted to reach out for updates and finally had to notify him we were going with someone else because we haven’t had any contact from him since June 18. It was very disappointing he never responded or had the courtesy to tell us he wasn’t interested or was overbooked.

My family highly recommends Extreme Decks and Roofing. We discovered we had a missing roof vent and were worried because a storm was coming, Aaron Karas came right out and replaced the missing roof vent. His quick response was appreciate.

Aaron came to our house 5 weeks ago and gave us an estimate to replace the decking and three joists on an existing wooden deck. Like a previous reviewer noted, because of the small size of the job, it was going to be a "weekend project" and he'd let us know when. I called Aaron two weeks ago about getting some composite decking instead of wood. He was going to call me back the next day with information. Crickets. I've called and left voicemails and followed up with a text. Nothing. It's now July 11, mid-summer, my deck is a mess and I have to start over. My hope is we can find someone before the snow falls. Aaron did not follow-through, was not conscientious, nor professional. I urge you to look elsewhere for help with your deck project.

I just had my deck redone and enlarged by Aaron’s team. The workmanship was excellent and fairly priced. The gentlemen were very skilled and so easy to deal with. Aaron met with me to give me an estimate of costs to replace our roof. He was punctual, knowledgeable, respectful, and courteous. We had a house fire and lost about 90% of our home. I was amazed at the empathy he had for me and my family. He did a thorough examination and promised to get back to me quickly. He called within a few days of that visit to quote me a price and I was extremely pleased. In addition to Aaron and his crew working on our house we had another construction company doing repairs/replacements. Once the roof was completed the workers and the supervisor were so impressed with their workmanship that they wanted to contract them to do their roofs. They said they had never seen such perfection. They worked tirelessly until the job was complete, which was in a very reasonable amount of time. I would highly recommend Extreme Decks and Roofing. The have greatly exceeded my expectations. Aaron came out and gave me a price on a roof, which was better than most other estimates that I received. I gave him a call to schedule his services and he came out quick to do the job. He offered a 30 year lifetime shingle warranty. Everything was cleaned up better than it was before. I would recommend him 5 stars

I had multiple estimates and no one could beat extreme decks prices. I had a graduation party planned and needed a massive pool deck with metal railings done by a certain time and Arron told me he could do it! AND YOU KNOW WHAT! He did come thru! In the end for the quality, the value, the professionalism and response time was impeccable. We partied our faces off on our new deck and the compliments just poured in. Made a happy returning customer. Put it this way I never DO reviews. I would def recommend!

We just recently had our roof replaced by Extreme on 2/11. Unlike some of the other reviews here Aaron came to our home within 48 hours of our initial call and gave us a quote for the work to be done. We had no issue with the quote that he gave and authorized the work to begin. He actually wanted to get started at the end of that week, but due to my schedule we settled on the beginning of the following week.
His crew came out on Monday, delivered everything needed for the job, and were there promptly on Tuesday morning. Everything was completed in one day, including the cleanup. I walked around the entire house 4 times and only found 2 nails that were missed.
They don't cut corners with materials either. I have a friend that works for a lumber company that sells shingles and he verified that the product used by Extreme are his top of the line shingle and I couldn't go wrong with it.
Aaron didn't ask for any payment until the job was complete and I was completely satisfied.
Overall I am very pleased with the work done and the price and will use Extreme in the future along with recommending them to my friends and Family.

I had the owner come to my house and give me 3 different options as to how i could repair my deck and what those cost amounts would be. He gave me the option to replace the entire deck in wood, replace the entire deck in composite, or just repair the boards that needed fixed instead of replacing the entire deck. He gave me round-about prices for each one ($9,000, $5,000, and $2,000). He sent me pictures of my options and I text him back asking for written estimates for each option instead of the round-about numbers that he verbally told me. I never received the estimates. Nonetheless, I talked to my husband and we decided to go with the $2,000 “face-life” to save money. I called and left the owner a voicemail explaining what we decided to do and he never responded. I waited a week and sent him a text message explaining to him, once again, what we had decided. I also told him In the text that if he couldn’t or didn’t want to do the job, just to let me know so I could look elsewhere. He didn’t even have the decency to call/text back after that either. So we’ve decided to take our business elsewhere. He seems like a nice guy that does quality work but is very much lacking with responsiveness and professionalism.

We got our roof replaced by Extreme Decks last November and we are very happy with their work. It was easy to schedule work ,they showed up in time and were very professional. The quality of their work was very good and they cleaned up the place really well after the work was over. Would highly recommend extreme decks.

Aaron and his crew did a fantastic job taking our ideas and making them reality when it came to building a roof over our deck. He took care of everything (permits, electrician, etc.). Completely satisfied with work done.

Changing our original review. We had a deck installed a year ago. Aaron stated we did NOT need a permit. We clearly needed a permit. I have spent so many frustrating hours trying to get this resolved over a year because this company did not get permits. There is an issue on our title now until I can pay a structural engineer to come out and inspect the deck they built. If you use any company DEMAND a permit no matter what. It will save you so many headaches!

Extreme decks was fantastic. We had an old patio with covered shed roof replaced with a new wood deck and permanent cathedral roof. Aaron and his team were wonderful to work with and delivered a high quality product. We could not be happier and cannot wait to enjoy our deck for years to come. Thank you!

I was having issues with a relocation company wanting me to bring my 30 year old deck up to current code before the sale of my home. They also stated my deck was structurally deficient (based on the home inspector they sent). Aaron was recommended through a friend and he came out to look at the deck. He said it was built to code at the time of construction and he didn't see any issues with the structure. He even wrote a report for me to send in to the relocation company to refute their inspectors findings. Aaron was extremely responsive and easy to work with. He wouldn't even accept compensation for the report.

Recently had a new roof, gutters, gutter guards, downspouts and a replacement skylight installed on my home by Aaron's crew. We are very satisfied with the results-all looks great. Job went smoothly, they cleaned up daily and kept us informed of progress. Company was highly recommended by my realtor. I in turn will highly recommend them and plan on calling them for some future projects.

These guys at extreme are Incredible..the best company to hire for remodeling your home..they all take pride in their work..Aaron is extremely fair when it comes to the price of the job..give extreme decks a call I highly recommend this company

After I posted this review and a similar one to Angie's List, Aaron returned my calls and made arrangements to come out and fix the treads. They're not perfect, but they're reasonably well done at this point, so I'm adjusting my review from 2 to 3 stars. I'd make it 4 if I hadn't had to go through so much struggle to get to this point, and I'd make it 5 if we could have gotten to perfect on the first try.

I wish I could write a purely positive review, but after months of trying, unsuccessfully, to get the owner Aaron to stand behind some shoddy work, I cannot recommend Extreme Decks.

I hired them because they had done a nice job on a neighbor's porch. The neighbor said Aaron and his crew were fast, reasonably priced, and honored their commitments. I had three bids, and Aaron's was competitive, so the neighbor's recommendation got him the job.

The good: The crew showed up when promised to start the work. They worked quickly to finish on time. The work is sturdy.

The bad: The main reason we hired them was to build new steps. The steps were not level from the start, and I didn't realize it until after they were finished and painted, and rain was puddling on the treads. On closer inspection, it was obvious that not only were the stringers tilted toward the house, the treads were cupped as well - a problem that would become dangerous when ice and snow started to build up. So I called Aaron to get the problem rectified. He sent someone to level the stringers, but didn't replace the treads. That was 4 months ago. He agreed that the treads needed to be replaced, said he was setting aside wood to make sure it was dried before cutting and replacing the treads. He said he'd be there in three weeks to finish. Long story short, he has repeatedly said he would "be there tomorrow" and never shown up. Between dodging communication and not honoring his commitment, he's thoroughly counteracted all the initial positivity to our experience with him.

At this point, I am stuck with a deck whose steps are dangerously cupped and whose contractor won't come fix. I'm going to have to hire someone else to fix Aaron's shoddy work.

Save yourself a lot of time, frustration, and money: Take a pass on this crew.

Extreme Decks has done a lot of work on my house over the last couple years. He and his workers are usually very prompt and they do good work! If there is any problem they bend over backwards to help make you happy. I had no issues but a fried of mine needed to tweak a few things on their covered porch which really added a lot of curb appeal to their home!
My house had a new roof put on less than a week after contacting him! He had the time and did an excellent job. I broke down my rear deck into two jobs. The one was to take down my original deck and recycle as much material as possible and he raised it about a foot and added an additional 10' and finally we added a section to the deck that has a 8X15 shed.
I use a wheelchair and the modifications allow me to enter and exit the deck from the kitchen and the shed with no assistance His modifications have greatly added to my quality of life and independence.
I highly recommend Aaron from Extreme Decks and his workers. If I need additional work I will contact him first.

Jason and his team did an amazing job on my roof. Their price was WELL below the 3 other quotes that I received, and their work was top notch. They got everything done in an extremely timely manner as well. They have a customer for life now. Highly recommended.
