Our experience with Extera Roofing from start to finish was outstanding. I will break it down in three phases.

First Phase: The estimate and selection. I decided to get five estimates from the top 5 google reviewed roofing companies. All the roofing companies had similar presentations but Gerti, the owner, from Extera was the only one to say my roof still had some life left in it. He provided several grades of shingles to choose from. More importantly he indicated he could simply make a minor repair to our roof to extend its serviceability for a couple of years. I decided against this option and chose to replace the roof to avoid chasing issues for next couple of years. The difference in estimates from low to high was approximately $10,000 with Extera being in the lower range. Based on Gerti’s honesty, pricing, and being a 5 star google reviewed company we choose Extera. Once we selected Extera, Gerti and his foreman Patrick, came to our house the next day in a driving rainstorm to fix a small leak in our existing roof until they could schedule the full roof replacement. One recommendation I would make is to go the Extera office and see the shingle samples in person and not make a color choice off the internet because the color and look is wildly different in person vs the internet. We ended up selecting the CertainTeed Landmark Pro Shenandoah shingle.

Second Phase: The installation. Extera continually updated us on an install date because it rained practically every day in May delaying the start. The week before install, we were provided instructions and expectations which were very helpful. The day of install the crew led by Patrick arrived at 7:30 ready to go to work. They tarped off the house to do the tear off which is very messy, yet they kept our house clean. Unfortunately for Extera the installation took four days because the weather was not their friend with temperatures hovering around 100 degrees causing them to take several breaks during the day for employee safety. Despite these challenges at the end of the day they cleaned up our property and organized their tools and material in one location. I just want to highlight how Extera cares for your home with this one example. At 5AM in the morning mid installation Patrick texted me because he noticed it was raining out and was going to be on the roof ensuring there would no leaks where it was tarped off from the previous night. Patrick spent a half hour ensuring everything was watertight and then indicated he would be back at 7:30AM with the crew to get back to work. The roof was finished in four days and looks fantastic; we could not be happier with the color choice.

Third Phase: the cleanup. As I had indicated the Extera team continually cleaned up as they worked but when the roof is finished, they ensured all the old roofing and garbage is in the dumpster before it is picked up. They continually sweep the lawn and landscaping with magnetic sweeper to ensure all nails and metal from the tear and install are picked up. When finished it was like they were never there.

Final step is Gerti does a final inspection with a staff member to ensure everything is done correctly and does final photos with the drone. These photos plus photos during installation with ice and water shied were important because my homeowner’s insurance company wanted them for our policy. We also choose the 50-year CertainTeed Sure Plus Warranty to protect our investment in the roof and to be able to transfer the warranty to the next owner when we sell the house. This warranty can only be obtained if you use a CertainTeed certified installer like Extera Roofing and not available to any fly by night roofing company.

In the end, we had an outstanding experience with Extera Roofing. They are highly recommended.

The house we purchased had a degraded roof that needed to be replaced. Extera was a recommendation from a solar installer we were interested in using. Their bid was slightly higher but we liked the shingle they were recommending, and they had good reviews online. Our experience bore out the reviews. As our project manager, Gerti was responsive, knowledgeable, and transparent with pricing. Lauren was efficient in getting the right permits from the town and following up promptly afterwards with the process of closing the permits, as well as sending us clear instructions in advance to prepare for the actual roofing work. We were not in for the 2 days of roofing work, but when we next saw the house, there was really nothing to worry about - all the external areas were left as before, clean and without debris. The internal areas (we had skylights installed too) were also clean and the skylights work well. We recommend Extera to any homeowner looking for a roofer!

All good things. My husband and I met with Gerti last year for an estimate after visiting his booth at Great American Weekend. He gave us great feedback and didn't rush us into a contract. When we were ready to tackle the roof, Lauren answered all our questions and concerns about cost, timeline, color choices, etc. She even sent us a PDF on how to prepare and what to expect on install day. The team introduced themselves when they arrived in the morning and were friendly and kind and communicated clearly throughout the day. They even took their time inspecting the lawn for debris and errant nails before they left, which I appreciate as the mom of an active little boy.

Extera came highly recommended through our solar company, as we needed to replace our roof before installing panels. There aren’t enough good things I can say about our experience. Gerti was patient and thorough, and Lauren in the office was an absolute pleasure to work with. The installation went smoothly—the dumpster arrived around 8:30 a.m., and the job was done by about 4:30 p.m. The workers were friendly and especially diligent in making sure no debris was left behind. We hired Extera for the roof & siding on our new construction build in Goshen. They did an amazing job with our traditional ashpalt roof install, along with portions of metal roofing throughout. They worked diligently to absolutely nail our James Hardie cement board siding design & install! The house came out looking amazing. We had a great experience from start to finish with the team at Extera roofing and siding. Our process started with needing a roof and looking into solar panel install to try and wrap the project together. The solar company we landed with after an extensive search for the best company with best reviews and best customer service, NYSSF (New York State Solar Farm), referred Extera to us. I was happy to find Extera to match our expectations we had with NYSSF.

From the first site meeting at the house Gerti was extremely easy to talk with and very informative. He gave us a quote with several options for shingle type and offered an office design visit (after we signed our contract) to try and help make the decision of color and style. We met with Lauren in the office and were able to get confirmation our interests of shingle type, color and style.

The work quote was similar to other quotes we received and i would say that the workmanship i experienced was organized, clean and had a sense of quality that i feel is likely superior to many companies i could have went with. At no point did i feel like a team of workers were on my roof trying to go as fast as possible, but rather clear and precise, paying attention to the fine details.

I look forward to having our Siding, gutters and soffits, done in the near future with the team. We are very pleased we found such a great, local family business to work on our house!

Extera Roofing was terrific from beginning to end. The roof looks amazing and like it will last for decades to come. Gerti is a true professional, as are all his workers. There was a tremendous heat wave during the two days of installation, which didn’t slow then down a bit and all went as described to me beforehand. We didn't end up getting our roof done by Extera, and will explain why BUT I wanted to express how incredible they were in this entire process and will happily reach out to them again once we're financially ready. We originally had signed our proposal with them to get our entire roof re-done and in the middle of the waiting period, we had to re-prioritize our finances due to my recent layoff. In the midst of all the hardship of me trying to find a new full time gig, dealing with an uncertain financial future, we had to make the really tough decision to request a cancellation. When we explained our situation, Gerti listened, made sure it really was a financial decision and not due to his company services. He agreed to cancel the contract and even sucked up the re-stocking fee for the material that was already delivered. We are ever so grateful for him to help us out, he is a genuinely an honest human being which is RARE in general. We are definitely going back to him when we're financially ready to do the entire roof. We are so touched at how he's handled everything, absolutely happy to do business with someone so trustworthy (with a different contractor this could have gone waaaaaay differently) and he has us as loyal customers for the future. Who would ever have thought that putting a new roof on our house would turn out to be a joy?! I would say “from top to bottom“ the Extera company was fabulous but, well, they did not work in the basement… Only the roof! And what a roof it is: beautiful with excellent workmanship, and that long-term guarantee! I can tell you already, worth every penny.

From first assessment to final cleanup, they did a great job.

STOP SEARCHING! ONLY HAVE EXTERA DO YOUR ROOF. Gerti is a true professional and understand what that means. He is communicative, on time, and most importantly organized. He didn't just try and shut me down when I said I wanted to do a Metal roof with the typical "Nah man, there is no need GAF HDZ is 50 years!! and I'm the only certified master pro wizard grandmaster on the east coast, but if you really want Metal it will easily run you 100k, but I'll send you a quote." Opens quote, one line: Metal Roof - 100k. If you're gonna try and rip me off at least put effort into it. Reach out to a Facebook Advertising company stating Metal roofs, Tell them that same story and what do they do? "Oh yeah Metal, our price would be 127k." Are you insane? why would you quote me that much after i just told you I laughed 100k off my property? Oh I forgot they offered free leaf guards a 7k "savings." I had another contractor try and tell me they would install the Metal right over the existing shingle roof, ?!?!? No more playing phone tag with contractors, no more "I'll be there sometime between this call and your death, whenever I feel like it." Extera took the extra steps involved to truly transform my house. We had them remove the old multi layer patch job covered shingles and leaky decking and replace it with New Castle Metal on brand new decking. He even worked with third party contractors to allow for foam sealing underneath the new decking (cathedral ceiling with no access any other way), that almost drove both of us mad. They took the time to do that job the right way, no just slapping it on and running away with the money. His crew was here everyday on time and friendly, to the point where I missed coming outside in the morning and saying hello to them when the job finished. The quality of their workmanship do not go unnoticed. Take a look at those lines!!! They even suggested moving vent pipes to give me more space for the solar panels, and fixed the bathroom fans from just blowing into the fiberglass insulation, now they vent out of the eaves. He also discovered my old sky lights weren't even screwed into the joists only into drywall. I can say with confidence I think the roof will still be here on the ground looking brand new once the house is long gone from underneath it. Once again Gerti is a true professional. I would never trust anyone else to do my roof. And to top it all off the man also knows wine, received one of the best bottles as a thank you from him that I've had in a long while.

I was referred to Extera New York State Solar Farm as they did my panel system years prior. My roof was “replaced” by a fly by night contractor back in 2014 and that decision proved a costly one. Cheapest quote and all I could afford at the time was a layer of shingles over the old ones.

I was finally ready to do things right on my 55 year old house. But before fully renovating the inside, best to make sure things are dry and tight otherwise once bad storm and all that work is ruined.

Spoke with Gerti months prior to work beginning. He was patient in explaining things to me, meticulous and a bit “in the weeds” with respect to explaining details.
Roof was a complete tear off and was done in a few days.
Removal of a bump out, garden window, basement windows, rear door, siding, rear deck and front porch along with steps and railings were all done by Extera as well. As you can see everything looks amazing!
I chose the best he could give me, including additional insulation from the outside. Upon that being done, there was an immediately noticeable increase in temperature inside our home (January 2024)
Being a numbers guy, the siding will pay for itself in 20 yrs. Of course YMMV but he consistently over delivered every step of the way.
He wasn’t the cheapest but again, choosing those contractors will cost a lot more later.

Extera Roofing has to be the easiest, most efficient company I’ve ever dealt with. I honestly wish they can do everything else from contracting to making pizza.

I recently bought a home and the day after closing my HOI said I needed to get the roof inspected. Even though I did when I did my house inspection. I called numerous places and couldn’t even get a call back! My HOI then recommended someone and they told me they would come by and never did.

My wife saw people on Facebook recommending Extera so I gave them a call. Someone actually answered the phone. They gave me an appointment and the owner Gertri showed up. Gertri is outstanding and a stand up guy. He immediately said that you don’t need a new roof. He told me the service he provides that would satisfy the insurance requirement.After inspection Gertri reinsured is initial observation.

Extera called me with days to set up the service. Gertri told them that it was priority due to the insurance. They showed up on time. Did an excellent job. Cleaned up afterwards! They sealed any exposed nails, put a new pipe boot and cleaned off all the moss.

When I eventually need a roof I will be calling Extera and you should too!

Our house was built in 1963 and needed a complete roof rebuild. After talking with several contractors we chose Extera. Gerti Tarelli’s presentation of the benefits of the GAF systems and his team’s experience with it convinced us. We chose the high end package because it means we’ll never have to think about it again. It also means that if we ever decide to sell we have increased the value of the house considerably.
Gerti and their team showed up early on the scheduled start day. By the end of that day they had torn off the old roof, installed the new sheathing, laid down the waterproofing layer and gotten the shingling underway.
On day two they showed up early again, installed half a dozen vents, finished the shingling of the house, and also stripped the old shingles off our garage and completely reshingled it. They cleaned up thoroughly and were gone by six pm with the job completed.
Gerti was on site himself much of the time solving problems as they came up and troubleshooting. Periodically he showed us drone videos so we could track the progress and understand the issues. The team works smoothly and efficiently, establishing confidence and making the entire process as swift and painless as possible.

Extera was professional, in line cost wise with other quality companies, very communicative and did a great job.
They did it the RIGHT WAY, not the cheap get it done way. On several sections of the roof they applied a lot of extra ice shield because that was the best way to do it, and did not charge extra. The owner was on the job especially the first day and was knowledgeable, honest, personable, and wanted to make sure the roof was done in the best possible way. He said that they would clean up and get almost every nail and piece of roofing, and they did this. I have heard neighbors horror stories of roofing jobs, especially all the nails and debris left. With Extera that was not an issue at all!

We have a flat residential roof with a curved roof deck - not an easy project! Gerti patiently talked us through the options, materials, and process to help us make an informed decision. I had apicture window with two side windows that needed to be replaced, I had a bad leak affecting the framing. Extera Roofing repaired the framing and installed new windows. They are professional and knowledgeable, I highly recommend them.

He was approachable, answered all of my questions and did a thorough site visit prior to sending a proposal for the roof replacement. Where do we begin?
From the first phone conversation with Lauren to the completion overview by Gerti, this experience with Extera was par for the excellence. Lauren is an incredible liaison between us and Gerti. Gerti is a wonderful gentleman, patient, and prompt. He gave us a thorough inspection and estimate for our roof repair. He explained exactly what was wrong and how it would be repaired. This was followed up with an agreement that reflected everything explained in words.

Extera was amazing! Not only were they the best quote of all the quotes I got, but they were friendly and helpful. They didn’t try to oversell me on anything I didn’t need like many companies do when they see a woman doing something on her own. They tore off my old roof, replaced some damaged plywood and insulation, as well as cleaned my gutters while they were up on the roof. I loved that they shared pictures of the process from beginning to end to see the work being done as I had to be away for work when it was being done. Additionally, they made my job a priority because the previous roof was installed improperly and I was dealing with a leak. So as soon as the permit came in, the job was done quickly. They continue to check in to make sure that I am pleased with the job and remind me of I have any issues to reach out. I could not have asked for a better company to complete this job for me!

To properly convey the satisfaction and peace-of-mind I now enjoy with the work that Extera’s team of roofers delivered, I have to tell a story.

My home was built in 1880. We moved-in during the Winter of 2005. Either through oversight or my failing memory, I don’t recall inquiring or receiving information about the age of the roof from the previous owner.

2014 to 2018 witnessed multiple storms hit our region. The storms produced significant snowfall during the Winter months and deluges during warmer months. All of this significantly weakened my roof because that’s when the leaking issues materialized. My greatest concern was the ‘flat roof’ portion of my house.

The leaking flat roof produced all the issues one expects to encounter with rain water permeating your roof and soaking your walls. It looked terrible as well as possibly laying the foundation for future mold growth. Three times I hired general “handymen” who came recommended by neighbors or I encountered working on a neighbor’s home. None solved my leaky roof problem. It was wasted money in retrospect.

Why didn’t I go directly to an established roofing company? I tried. None wanted to tackle my flat roof. They were of the mind that flat roofs required an attention to detail and quality that they preferred to ignore.

Fast-forward to Spring 2022. I made the modernization of my home a priority given its age. Solar panel installation became my next major home project. My Solar installer was going to bundle my solar panel project with the cost of a total roof upgrade if I used their roofing contractor. I’m suspicious of such partnerships, but given my roof history, I saw this as an opportunity to complete two large projects with one low APR loan. The roofing contractor was Extera and I did some research on their work in the region. I even checked the Better Business Bureau. I was satisfied that this was a reputable company and I gave my Solar installer the green-light to proceed with the project.

By the Fall of 2022 I was informed that my town, Middletown (NY), didn’t approve the permit for placement of solar panels on my roof. My roof was too small to accommodate the required number of panels and still remain within code. Six months of planning WASTED.

In the aftermath, I recounted the times I interacted with Extera’s owners: Gerti and Lauren. Together, they own and operate Extera Roofing. Gerti is the field person and Lauren is the Office Manager. In every instance my interaction with them was informative, no-nonsense, and extremely pleasant. Gerti has extensive knowledge and experience in the roofing industry while Lauren is a model for running an efficient, organized, and professional operation. I was confident in hiring Extera to do my roof even though the solar panel project was a bust.

The entire roof was repaired and upgraded according to plan and on budget in early March 2023. But, I made clear to Gerti that the test will come during the next couple of storms. The absence of leaks is what will make this project a notable investment.

It has now been almost two months since Gerti & Lauren’s crew from Extera completed my roof. Since then we’ve had two wind storms, two wind-swept rain storms, and an entire week (and counting) of rainy weather. I’m happy to report that my family has seen NO LEAKS. Hallelujah!

2. Does Extera perform quality work?: No Question. Their work is Mother Nature approved.
3. Do I recommend Extera: YES! (Enthusiastically). Their professionalism is a reflection of their personal character. They do great work because they invest significant attention and energy to all matters of importance, whether it be business or private.
4. My non-business, personal estimation: Gerti and Lauren are amiable people. Even if they were not completing a job for me, I would still enjoy their friendly companionship. Getting to know them was a pleasant by-product of hiring Extera to perform my roof project. It was like “icing on a cake”.

Gerti was super easy to work with and provided a detailed view of the fixes / expected costs up front and any potential maintenance. Definitely recommend him and his company.

We hired Extera Roofing & Construction to do our roof repairs when we had wind damage from a storm. The owner Gerdi came and met with us to discuss our options. He was extremely professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Without asking he handed us a folder with all of his certifications and insurance information. He took the time to thoroughly explain to us what was going to be done and the time frame.

Extera worked seamlessly with my insurance company and even the local building/code inspector commented on what a great company they are when looking at the work being done. Our entire roof was completed in 1 1/2 days and they did an absolutely beautiful job.

The evening that the roof was done we had a massive rain storm and did have a leak due to a faulty vent which was brand new when installed. It was a manufacturer error that wasn’t noticeable when installed, 100% nothing Extera could have done to prevent it from happening. HOWEVER, Gerdi came back out within 40 minutes of getting off the phone with me, at 9:00 at night and went on the roof and tarped it with his foreman to stop water from getting in.

The next day as soon as the rain stopped they repaired the vent and now we have a perfect roof and I couldn’t be more pleased.

If you are considering getting any renovations done on your home there is truly no need to look any further. Gerdi and his team of workers are amazing. You'll be extremely happy as they are truly the full package from the quality of work to the professionalism.

Wonderful experience working with Extera and it’s owner Gerti. I have a large roof and needed to replace the entire roof after putting it off for a few years.
Gerti was able to accommodate an urgent repair and coordinate with my solar panel company who had to remove the panels prior to the roof replacement.
