I have no skin in this game, I was merely a driver on the road and saw the sign that singled out a high school player. You can have an issue with the coaches or the school as a whole, but to call out a single player, who is a minor, is absolutely tacky and unprofessional. If their professionalism matches their sign work, I would stay away.

I hire this company to build a custom home on a lot I owned. I was assured from the beginning that the home would fit on the lot and meet HOA requirements. Well it didn't. I was assured it would be no problem to get a variance and home would still be able to be built. It wasn't. This company has kept money that they required we pay for additional upgrades to a house that was never built. Incurred a lot of expenses obtaining a construction loan as well as money given to Epic to design a house that would never have been approved for construction. Would not recommend this company.

March: Epic Homes is building a house across the street and we have watched it going up for about 4 months now. The first story was framed and sided with no more work for weeks. It snowed and rained on all the wood. Then, the second story went on and roof with no shingles and sat again for weeks and got rained on. Now, the house sits half finished still no shingles in parts and a few windows open with more rainy days (see pic). On average, I have seen 2-4 guys working on this large house at any time. The most I saw was 6 guys roofing. June Update: The exterior of the house is almost finished. The doors and windows are mostly closed now.

If I could give them 10 stars I would! We couldn’t be happier with our new custom home! Epic did a fantastic job making our dreams come true. Jenny and JJ are so polite and work so hard to get exactly what you’re looking for! And the rest of the staff is just as great! They have a ton of options to choose from right there in the office so you don’t have to go looking around to find what you want. Jenny always told us that the best way to avoid being unhappy with your build is communicating and that’s exactly what they did during the whole process. Thank you for our “Epic home”!!!

Very disappointed!! We waited over 6 weeks to review different house plan options and when we showed up to the meeting there was only one. The other options were taken off the table with no communication to us or apparently between themselves. They looked at each other at the end and had no real answers. It felt like they really didn’t care that they failed to deliver on what was expected based on our prior meeting. We certainly did not receive the experience that one would expect from a “Best in Lexington” nominee.

Jenny and JJ Nettles are first class all the way. They built us our dream home and we could not be any happier. Our home is beautifully built and exactly what we wanted...... and they built it in 5 months with all of the COVID challenges thrown at them. They were always accessible and very responsive to all our questions and if there was an issue they handled it immediately. I would recommend Epic Homes to everyone. If you need a new home then please call them first!! They are fantastic!

This was a very long process, but Jenny, Mark, JJ and the whole Epic homes staff made it a GREAT experience for me....no matter what I needed or when I reached out to them they all made me feel like family...I am beyond pleased with the end result and would HIGHLY recommend them to anybody looking to build their next home!!

Our experience using Epic Homes was beyond anything we could have hoped for! We had a terrible experience with another builder starting out. Without hesitation Epic sat down with my husband and I to come up with a new plan on how to build our dream home! Jenny is so knowledgeable when it comes to running her business and she will do everything she needs to to ensure Epic has the best reputation around. Building a home is stressful! With Epic We,not once, felt uneasy or like this wouldn’t turn out wonderful. Shannon helped me choose the best options when it came to interior design and helped with all my questions! Honesty is one of the best qualities about Epic! When it came to our build Charles was the absolute BEST!!! I’ve never met someone so willing to put in work even when he shouldn’t have to. We couldn’t have asked for a better builder or for a more beautiful home! We are so excited and in love with our Epic home! If you’re building a house, go talk to Jenny and the team! Your decision will be made once you walk out the door! This decision is a big one and not going with Epic is a big mistake!

Have been in our home built by Epic since April 2018. Our home has been great. Was completed as promised and on time. We have had some very minor issues repaired by the builder with no questions asked. Very satisfied with our experience.

Epic has evolved due to a flaw in the LLR system. JJ Nettles contractor license was revoked due to many unlawful practices with his former company LCB. However, he is still an owner and manager. The biggest mistake of my life was hiring Epic Homes LLC. Lies and deception are their best attributes. After 13 months of living hell we were forced to finish the house ourselves. Shoddy work, unprofessionalism and lack of knowledge run rampant within this company. We forced them to tear our house down on a number of occasions due to shoddy work. Five huge dumpsters we're taken to the landfill full of building materials, however they say they are green. The Nettles in conjunction with their best friend Matt Arnold (MVB Mtg) sent us an unlawful contract to sign or they would not finish our house. One clause said we must not give unfavourable reviews on the internet nor show pictures of their shoddy work. We have hundreds of horrific pictures if anyone would like to see them. They control their ratings on Facebook, so beware. Thanks for the year of Epic nightmares.

JJ and Jenny are wonderful and we never had an issue building our dream home. We just finished with our one year warranty walk through and we couldn’t be more happy with the professionalism and determination to make sure we were completely satisfied through the whole process. From the start whenever we had a question or concern we knew we could call or email JJ and Jenny and they would get right back with us. If we ever decide to build another custom home Epic Homes will be our builder, highly recommend.

We are a local couple,40 years, that bought a lot on Lake Murray to build our retirement home downsizing from 4300sf to a 2700sf home. We had the plans drawn up and called Jenny. She said they would love to talk with us. Emailed the plans to JJ who set up the meeting. We met with Jenny for an hour going over the options we wanted in the home. We have built 4 homes so we know what we want and are versed on dealing with contractors. Jenny was very helpful, friendly, very professional. She asked that we consider some options she recommended and that we give her some time to look over the plans and she would be back in touch with us after talking with JJ and letting him review what we discussed and letting him review the plans. She said the house had more custom features than they normally do but should be no problem. We NEVER heard back from her. Not even a call to say that they were not going to be able to tackle the job. We heard nothing. I have never had a contractor not call back, period. It sounded just like the experience the guy that posted an earlier review. Glad we discovered this now vs. finding out later when building that they would not followup with you.Just be aware going in. Maybe we were just unlucky, maybe not.

Hello google world. I am a proud customer of Epic Homes SC. I read all of the reviews here and couldn't disagree more on the "ONE" negative comment. Although, I am not sure how much I would bank an opinion on from a used car salesman in New York.
Our experience has been much like a "coming home". Jenny & JJ always greet us with a good ole southern bear hug and always leave us with one too. They have been very open & honest throughout the entire process. So much so that they provide us documentation of everything our money goes toward so you get 100% security in all that building involves. That is honest business that I will always choose over any other builder or business out there. I have provided some photos of the framing so you can see personally the high performance & professionalism that is used in their process.
They are family owned with a female builder that never has a question she cant answer. They are kind, loving, generous, and honest people. Kudos to Epic & their local business, you will always have our vote.

My wife and I studied and did all of.our due diligence on which builder to use. We chose Epic to build our new home but to our surprise two months after contacting them and letting them know we chose to build with them we had still heard nothing back from them even though we were told they would get things rolling in a couple weeks. We called them back again and at this point we really wanted to move into new home within the next 6 months or so. They told us in 30 days or less they would start... Two and a half months later still nothing so we called and they said sorry and unfortunately they could not build our new home for us. Most negative and devastating experience ever. Too small of a company who could care less about the customer in our opinion.

I would hope that anyone who reads Mr. Portzelt's message would be able to read between the lines, and use their better judgment to understand why things didn't quite work out.
