Endureed

My review of the Viva Palm Thatch material I used on my tiki hut shade structure over my backyard deck. As I a retired remodeling contractor and carpenter I had plenty of building experience. However no experience working with this particular product.

The literature Endureed had was awesome with specifications and good knowledge with how to select order and use this product. It was the only product I found that allowed for an open batten style roof deck. Instructional installation videos were very helpful as well. The customer support I received from Chase the sales manager was second to none. He answered all of my questions and arranged for the shipping of my product from Florida to California.

The thatch looks great and having now personally installed this product I believe the product will preform as intended. There are two issues I learned doing doing my project. I really should have deigned a roof with more pitch this was in their product information. But my design was already complete and with my arched roof rafter's I would suggest a considerable unique design application.

My project was small and my battens where not as large as I would have liked I would recommend at least 2"to 3" thick purlins. The extended eve detail sounded nice extra thatch for a nice fuller eve detail. What I failed to realized as the name implies it extends the eve 30" below the end of the rafter.

This may work well with a 9' or 10' height wall or post beam heights. In my case I only had about 7' less a 30" eve detail, placed the bottom of the thatch at only 4 1/2' above the ground. Too low to walk under to enter the structure. I should have just used field panels and still used a 5 piece starter row for a thicker eve detail. I was able to make an adjustment with how I used the materials and the results provided a good look at a better height for my application.

I share this information not to criticize this product it is an awesome product. The focus it is to assist others from making the same mistakes I did largely due to my inexperience with the use of the materials as related to my specific and unique design needs. I still a have a few final details to finish my project but the thatched roof and the skylight detail are complete. I will enclose a few pictures of my project.

This product came as advertised and installed beautifully. Love the look on my Tiki Hut and especially love the durability. Would definitely recommend the product.

The order came in wrong. We went by the videos for installation so we had to do more cutting than necessary. The product actually looks good and have a lot left over now I will see if this company is a quality as far as returns. At the time of the order I gave the dimensions to be covered they gave me the quantity of shingles it would take there’s a lot left over trying to return them
