This review is long overdue. Ben and his team deserve more than 5 stars. We had our roof replaced 2 years ago and it came out great. Ben promptly came by, discussed materials, and color. He gave us a quick and fair estimate. We were able to get our roof replaced quickly. He and his crew were careful to work around our flowerbeds and Ben came around throughout the day to check on the work. Subsequently, we've asked him for recommendations and to help inspect roof damage caused by squirrels. Ben immediately responded and came out of his way to inspect. I hired Dulles roofing after getting several bids for my roof replacement. Not only was their price the best with 5 star reviews across the board but Ben and Susan were such a joy to deal with. Ben Burnie is extremely easy to work with and very responsive. He explained the roofing process to me clearly and answered all many questions that I had. His estimate was clear and upgrades or add-ons (architectural shingles, lifetime roof vent collars, and any additional plywood that needed to be replaced) were included. I have all of my roof guttering piped into a system that drops the water in the low section of my yard and had some concern that debris from the removal of the old roof would clog up this system but we worked together to make sure that this had not happened. Roof removal is a messy process and it was very windy while they were removing the old shingles so the cleanup process was much worse than normal but his workers did a great job. And his pricing was the lowest of the three
estimates that i received. I don't see how the process could have gone any better..

I could not be happier with how it worked out with Ben and his company to get my roof replaced. I had to get my entire roof replaced due to wear and tear and water leaks from the recent storms. I went through multiple roofing companies for estimates and at the end, I decided to go with Dulles Roofing, especially after speaking with the owner, Ben, who made my decision very easy. Bottom Line - Hire Dulles Roofing and don't think twice about it.

Ben is the most honest, kind, trustworthy, and dedicated professional that you will meet PERIOD. The world would be a significantly better place if there were more Bens in it. I realize that this is a strange thing to include in a review of a business, but once you've interacted with Ben you'll come to realize that you wish every business provided such an outstanding customer-facing experience.

But let's cover some specifics:
1. Dulles Roofing provided among the best pricing of the companies from which we received quotes. Dulles' pricing was HALF that of a competitor that is a GAF Master Elite installer.
2. Material arrived as scheduled the day prior to the actual installation and was craned on the roof.
3. Installation crew arrived as scheduled the day of installation and worked from sunrise to sunset to get the job done (to include clean-up and trailer removal).
4. Ben stayed several hours after the installation was complete to scour the yard repeatedly for any missed debris.
5. Ben noted some minor defects the day following installation and worked to correct them.

Some things that were just above and beyond what one would reasonably expect from a company:
1. Ben noted that a bathroom vent line (installed many years ago by another company) was not connected to any attic vent and installed and connected a new vent. Take note, he did this without prompting and did not charge for it - this was not part of the roof installation and only came up after the installation when I asked about the new vent.
2. Communication was just so easy. You'll never feel like Ben is being anything other than straightforward. It makes the entire ordeal that much easier and removes any stress associated with having such a large project done.

Exceptional experience from the first phone call to the final handshake at the end of the project. Never have I worked with a more professional and personable organization. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and then some. The work was completed on time and looks fantastic. I wish I had another roof that needed repair so I could hire them again!

Ben was not only informative but very friendly. I don’t expect to buy too many roofs but this process was quite easy. I learned way too much about roofs and ventilation. His price was very good. The crew was unbelievably punctual and done in less than a day. Although roofs are a big expense, I almost wish I had another roof to shingle so I could do it again.

Fantastic experience all around. I received quotes from 5 well known installers in the area and Dulles roofing got the job for two reasons. First the price was so reasonable. Dulles was one of the two most competitive bids but they were also the most responsive. Ben answered all my questions and was very patient as I vetted the other bidders. His professionalism and courtesy won me over and I'm glad he did.

Ok, now for specifics.
I'll work backwards and start with the workmanship. The Dulles Roofing team got to my house early (~7:30am), and they were done by mid-afternoon. They weren't just done with the roof, but they had cleaned up, too. Granted, I don't have a very complex roof, but that's still pretty fast. As for the cleanup, they cleared all of the old roof materials really well, which I appreciated because it means I wasn't worried that my dog might step on a nail or eat something she shouldn't. Not only were they fast and clean, but the roof looks great and functions exactly like a roof should. There's not much more to say on that... it keeps the water out and looks pretty.
With regards to customer service, I really couldn't be happier. Ben is just a nice guy who takes the time to get to know the people he works with. In a professional capacity, he's very responsive, he keeps you informed of exactly what they're doing to the roof and how it affects you, and he was very patient while I was dealing with HOA delays. The flexibility with scheduling the installation was very much appreciated. He takes the time to talk about what your roofing needs are, and makes sure they are met/exceeded.
Now on to price. I contacted a number of other companies, some of which quoted me about what I expected, and some that were drastically overpriced. Dulles Roofing, on the other hand, came in UNDER the price I was told to expect for a project like a new roof. I can't stress this enough, but Dulles Roofing quoted me literally half of what another company was trying to charge me. When I told the more expensive company that I got quotes for much less, they kinda scoffed and wrote them off as just a "guy in a truck" who might not do a great job instead of a real roofing company. Well the joke's on them, since I'll be recommending this "guy in a truck" to literally anyone who mentions that they need a new roof.

Dulles Roofing just recently installed a new roof and gutter system on my single family home. The owner Ben spent time with me to discuss the shingle selection, types of gutters that would be best for the HIP Roof style of my home. The quality of workmanship, professionalism was top notch. Dulles Roofing communicated what to expect prior to installation so their materials could be staged prior to installation day and explained that because it was winter that being flexible is a must because the weather factors are important when installing a new roof. They left the job site very clean. I would recommend Dulles Roofing to anyone needing a new roof or gutter system. They were competitively priced, professional and provided a high quality installation of the roof and gutter system

Ben and his team were complete pros. He came out quick to do the estimate, explained everything to us, and was able to get up on the roof to do the replacement far-faster than I thought possible. On the day of the job, his team was quick and professional and he provided updates throughout the day. I couldn't have asked for a smoother process. I hope not to need another roof soon, but if I needed one, I'd call Ben.

September 2022 Dulles Roofing replaced our home roof. It is a large single-family home, and they did a flawless job. Ben, the owner, and Susan in the front office were fantastic to work with. It was a great pleasure to work with Ben Burnie from the very time I spoke to him on the phone in Summer 2020 for a price proposal and then again recently. I found Ben as a thorough professional meaning that he was exceptionally responsive, ethical, courteous, and immersive. He was personally involved at the onset of work when material deliveries came, kept an eye on his otherwise well-trained crew through the course of work, and then inspected the work quality at the completion of work. His mannerism and approach to the project did not go unnoticed as my neighbor mentioned a day later about his interaction with Ben and exclaimed that he too would have no hesitation in referring Dulles Roofing to other homeowners who are seeking to replace their roofs.
Examples of Ben’s straightforward and ethical approach: (1) Did not require all homeowners to be present as two other companies demanded (for mainly marketing and influencing purpose); (2) Accurate and ethical satellite estimate of the roof area (which he attached to a simple, not wordsmithed, proposal). This in contrast to another company which cushioned their proposal by 23% disingenuously (using the same satellite company and not attaching their printed roof area with the proposal).

From the first phone call, I felt Susan and Ben made me a priority answering all my detailed questions and putting me at ease. In the process of replacing our roof and replacing the 2 skylights, we had called 5 other worthy roofers, but chose Dulles Roofing mainly for their customer interface. For a large roof, they still finished in one day leaving the yard and deck area debris free and clean. I would highly recommend them for all roofing needs.

Our experience was a very positive one right from the start when we called for an estimation appointment and the knowledgeable and helpful office person got us scheduled quickly as well as answered some of our basic questions.
When Ben came out to inspect our roof for an estimate he did not just walk around our house as other estimators did, he climbed up on the roof and did an up close inspection.
We were having our house painted at the same time and Ben worked the schedule to seamlessly integrate the roofing work with them. Since we wanted the new gutters installed after the painting completed he worked his schedule with theirs so we’d have minimal time with no gutters on the house. He also watched the weather and consulted with us frequently to assure minimal risk of heavy rain creating a problem.
Dulles roofing did an excellent job, with minimal delay, and even provided us drone photos of the finished job.
All at a very reasonable price compared to the estimates we got from four other contractors.

I highly recommend Dulles roofing. The minute I spoke with Ben I knew that was the company I wanted to go with. I received 3 estimates for the full replacement of my 29 year old townhouse roof. Dulles roofing didn't even require my presence during the initial inspection of my roof. Ben presented me an online estimate with the details followed by a phone call. His pricing was the best. Anytime I emailed him with an inquiry I received an answer almost immediately. His crew showed up on time, worked hard on the hottest day of the summer so far (Temps almost at 100°) and a very high cicada infested area. I don't know how they worked in those conditions but they did an awesome job, cleaned up everything front and back & both sides of the property. I think it was cleaner after they left!

Every other bid had a significant "McLean Markup" but not Dulles Roofing. They were super responsive, cleaned up after themselves, kept to the schedule, the project manager was on site almost the whole time to answer questions and supervise the crew. Turnaround time on new roof was less than 2 weeks. Amazing. I would recommend them to anyone in the NoVa area.

I never write reviews, but felt compelled to based on my experience with Ben and Dulles Roofing. 5 stars isn't enough to express my satisfaction with the roof installation, communication, and professionalism of Ben and his crew. I originally obtained three estimates from locally owned roofing companies, and they all were within a few hundred of each other. I picked Dulles roofing based on three things: 1) the glowing reviews (and they are not exaggerated), 2) best company warranty, and 3) by far the best estimate communication. Ben supervised the installation and went so far above and beyond by replacing a deck plank that was rotten (and tried to replace a few window screens but they wouldn't budge). I was shocked and so grateful for his thoughtfulness. My neighbor came over that night to tell me he had been keeping an eye on the work throughout the day, and he was so impressed with how professional and efficient Dulles Roofing was compared to his roof replacement with a different company. My overall impression of Ben is that he is just a darn good human who went out of his way to perform acts of kindness when he was replacing my roof.

After another "roofing company" did a terrible job tarping a leaking roof (still leaked miserably) then disappearing completely after I asked them to fix it, and with bad weather expected in coming weeks, we were in a very bad spot. I am so thankful we found Ben through a neighbor's referral. Ben was a God-send, kind enough to squeeze us in their schedule when he didn't need to. The crew was at the house working within a week, right before the holidays. The roof and new skylights look amazing!

I believe the pricing was fair and honest, especially for the professional level of service you get. Ben was responsive to any question I had before or after the work. He's well connected to material vendors' experts (at least the skylight company he used for us). He knows his stuff, and what's more, so does his crew (another thing that's rare in this area). He even came out afterwards to fix a gutter/siding issue that was clearly the fault of another company's shoddy siding/gutter work, but was discovered when Dulles Roofing did the roofing job. He was under no obligation to do the repair, but he did it anyway, knowing we'd be price-gouged by just about any other siding/repair company in the area. I don't think you'll find another company in the area that would've gone this extra length.

Sadly, Northern Virginia is rife with dishonest, greedy, lazy, or just plain incompetent contractors, but Dulles Roofing is a bright breath of fresh air. They went above and beyond in my opinion, following through and making sure everything works satisfactorily, even after payment (other places just don't care or disappear after you pay them.) It was clear that Ben truly wanted to make sure our family's home was properly taken care of; and it seems this is his approach with every customer.

We are so happy we chose Dulles Roofing to replace our townhome roof. Ben was honest and professional throughout the process. Not only did he give us the most reasonable solution for the humidity issues in our roof (installing an attic fan and correcting some venting issues), but he provided the fairest estimate and fastest turnaround time. We had an active leak in our roof that Ben even patched for us free of charge while we waited for our new installation to occur.

Here's just one example of how amazing Ben and his team are: There was an issue with the delivery of our roofing materials and it threatened to delay the installation of our new roof. Normally this delay wouldn't be a problem, but we were about to get a major snowstorm and our old roof was in really bad shape. Ben actually drove all the way to Philadelphia the day before our scheduled installation to pick up the roofing materials himself so that our installation could happen on schedule. The job was completed in less than a day, and the snowstorm arrived the next morning. Our new roof held up great!

From our first interaction with Ben several years ago when we had him out to inspect the roof on our newly purchased house, we knew he was a class act. Fast forward several years and, while you never hope to have to call a roofer, we knew exactly who we would call when our roof started leaking and we needed a full replacement. Ben's prices were very competitive, but his honesty and friendliness were what sold us. We didn't need to call anyone else. He showed up this morning to start on our roof at 7 AM (first light this time of year) with a smile on his face. He said they would be done by the end of the day and, when I got home at 4 PM, the team was gone, the roof was done, and the yard was immaculate. If I could give Ben six out of five stars I would. He is the best, and I only wish we had more jobs to give him - but here's hoping this is the last roof we'll need for a while! Will definitely recommend him to all our friends.

Had new complete roof, skylight, attic fans & vents replaced. Did excellent job and great value compared to other estimates. They left the home & yard cleaner than when they started. Removed all the roofing debris and tarped around entire house. Waterproofing, flashing around chimney, openings were well installed. Above and beyond what I expected in a roofing installer.

If you are even thinking about getting your roof replace make sure you call them to get a quote. Not only did Dulles Roofing did a amazing job, they went above and beyond with everything. I needed to replace my roof to architectural shingles and insurance was not going to pay for it. Ben gave me a quote explained all the services they would provide; this help me eliminate all other companies and within couple of days my roof was done. They were on time and professional.
