Dr Sweep

Can only say good things about the folks over at Dr.Sweep! We have a wood burning stove that was given to us in less than good condition and we haven't been able to use it for years. Adam not only cleaned it thoroughly but also gave us tips on when we should get it cleaned next so we save some money! He was very kind and efficient and we absolutely will be going to them the next time we need it cleaned.

Great job. Adam answered all my questions, was engaging, and arrived within the timeframe set for the appointment. Marisa was very helpful also!

Randy went above the call of duty in repairing my chimney/leaky roof problems! He was very courteous and professional and got the job done quickly. I highly recommend this company.

I called Dr. Sweep because the mortar between my bricks was cracking in several places. The technician was out quickly and did an amazing job. Little did I know that the mortar was “colored” and needed to match the rest of the house. He matched it perfectly! You can’t even tell where it was fixed! Awesome, friendly service from the phone call through job completion! I highly recommend this company!

Leslie was very good to deal with while asking for a quote and scheduling my gas log install. Randy was awesome! He communicated well, was punctual and was very professional and knowledgeable when doing the install. I would highly recommend him!!

To start, the technician was an hour and a half late for an appointment with a four hour window. To his credit, he called within the window to inform me that he'd be late.

When he arrived, and even before he put on his shoe covers, he suggested a price increase over the reasonably priced quote for the cleaning. I don't understand how he could know this before he even looked at the chimney.

His first comment upon seeing the fireplace was a suggestion to convert to gas. A fireplace conversion was not the service I'd requested. Now I'm starting to think that the whole point is to up sell me.

After taking a few cell phone pictures, the technician started talking about thousands of dollars for potential repairs besides the chimney cleaning. At this point, I'm starting to get animated. I told him he was like a used car salesman. I asked if he gets paid on commission. I may have used some expletives to get my point across.

He declined to provide the service I'd originally requested and packed up and left. I don't know if this is a typical experience, but for me, my trust was shaken. Now, my plan is to buy some chimney sweeping equipment and do it myself.

The tech that came to my house was extremely rude, condescending and insulting. He obviously didn’t wanna do his job and took the attitude of chastising, criticizing and abusing me because he was too lazy to do the job I was going to pay him for. The fact that ppl like this think they can come into someone’s house and take it upon themselves to judge and demean a customers home is incredible to me!

Great company. I feel so much better knowing that Dr. Sweep inspected my chimney and fireplace, and it is safe to use.

Justin arrived on time, explained everything and helped me build a plan for my two fireplaces. The work estimate was reasonable for the next steps. He was friendly and thorough. And he loved my dog!

Came out for my chimney cap. He looked at my chimney and repaired it. He was very respectful, and informative. I am very pleased with the work and when needed I will definitely call them again..

I ignored the reviews and thought I would give them a try. The guys who came out for quotes and to fix were very pleasant. They then came to fix our chimney and said it was too big and they had to order special parts, which was fine. I then got a call from a lady on the work they did do and the payment. I told her to call me after work one day so I could pay with checks and not pay their fee. She proceeded to call me every day at work for 5+ days straight. I paid and asked about the parts and when they would come out or if I should call another company. She said they called around and to give them a day to let me know. That was about 2 months ago and I still have not heard from them… lol so people are not joking about their lack of follow up on here. I also don’t believe they had many intentions of fixing it the way they were after me for the small payment.

This was so much more then a clean. I have never owned a fireplace and Rob spent time explaining how it work how to safely use it. He also gave me ideas of items I will need to take care of it properly. I will never even consider calling anyone else!

Very unprofessional. After coming out to give me an estimate on chimmney, technican said he'd email the quote. Never did. I called their office and they said they'd get in touch with tech and have them call me. Never happened. I called them after a 2 days they answered the phone, then hung up. Never heard from them again. You won't have to twist my arm to take my business somewhere else.

Dr. Sweep came out and told us (1) that "before he even looks at it he knows we have major issues" and (2) that we had terrible cracks in our flue lining and that it would likely cost us thousands of dollars to fix. When I requested the pictures I paid for of the inside of the chimney so I could discuss with a mason, I was not provided with the pictures, an estimate, or any response at at all. Subsequently we had a very experienced masonry expert come out and tell us that the chimney was completely safe-- we had so much brick that any imperfections in the flue lining were basically irrelevant. Based on this experience it seems Dr. Sweep is employing people who have only been trained to clean and see superficial issues but have little or no understanding of masonry.

Have used the Canton team at multiple homes in Plymouth and have been very happy with them. Every person that has come to estimate or work on my homes has been very knowledgeable, transparent, and friendly (including to my 85 pound pit bull). Will use them again if I need any work done on my fireplace in the future.

At first the services was great, and they were able to come out the same week to clean the chimney of my new home. The chimney was cleaned for $200.00, however they said there was buildup still present, so they would send me pictures as well as an estimate. I waited two days for a follow up, and then texted asking for an update. I was told Ryan would send over the information soon, however that was a week ago and I have heard nothing. Very poor accountability, and I will be finding a new company to finish the work.

My experience started off great with a chimney cleaning and inspection. The employee arrived on time and gave me a run down, explaining I need some repairs. After a few weeks of not receiving the inspection report or quote for repairs, I called. Was told they would address it, yet I never received anything. It's now been over a month and no one will answer or return my calls. $200 wasted. Do not recommend

(11/1) I received a confirmation text the Friday before the appointment. I waited all day and heard nothing- I had a funny feeling and started calling the office around 2pm no one picked up until 4:40. By then my whole day was wasted, I was on the books but they couldn’t get ahold of my tech. I never heard from him at all. I tried to reschedule and the rep stated her computer crashed and someone would call me in 30 mins. I am still waiting on that call. I hope they can make this right, I waited so long for an appointment and it’s right before I need to use my fireplace…

I had a small brick repair job and called Dr Sweep. They arranged a visit for an estimate, completely explained what would be done and the cost.
I was able to schedule the work within a short timeframe.
Jason did an outstanding job of repairing my brick wall. He was very professional, explaining what he was doing and answering all my questions.
He cleaned up completely and the work was perfect. You would never know there had been a problem.
I would recommend Jason and Dr Sweep without reservation.

We had a poor experience with this company. After a no call/no show, they replaced the fireplace walls. They cracked after the second fire. They came out and fixed it for free a few days later. Then it cracked again. I reached out to them twice and never got a response back. Would not recommend.

They came to our house because our chase cover was rusted and we needed a new chase cover and chimney cap. Their estimate was reasonable so we went with them. They also threw in a discounted chimney sweep. After the install of the cover and new cap, the young man who was installing it and who performed the cleaning told us there was "crimping" in our chimney liner, and we needed to get it looked at by his supervisor and that it could be dangerous. When the supervisor came to do the inspection, he spent maybe less than a minute looking up the liner from the fireplace. He told us there was crimping and the liner had become unattached from the fireplace and it could not be repaired unless we wanted to spend an exorbitant amount to take apart our chimney and install a new liner from the outside--he seemed to be making up the figure to insure I did not go this route (he also made sure to point out they would not repair the siding when they did this and we would need to hire another company to reinstall the siding). He also told me that if we used the fireplace we would risk burning our house down. He then began his sales pitch on a gas insert. I listened and took his quote but something felt off. It was even more apparent something was amiss when they called me multiple times over the next few weeks pressuring me to go with them on the gas insert. I finally asked that they stop calling, and I emailed the manager and told him we needed more time. It took us a year to get a second opinion due to COVID but when we did, we got a very different story. The liner was crimped, but was easily repaired in less than an hour. We also were informed that our chimney was very dirty. We had not burned any wood since the last cleaning by Dr. Sweep because they told us it was dangerous, so clearly they either did not even clean our chimney when they came out or did a really bad job. We bought our house because we loved the fireplace in our family room and they almost took that away from us just to make a buck.

After a text and email confirmation the day before, he was a NO SHOW. After waiting all morning for Jeremy, he didn't have the courtesy to text, call or email us that he wasn't coming. Received a phone call at the end of the day to find out he didn't know how to do the job anyway. It was a simple job, chimney cap and liner.

Dr. Sweep is fantastic. Scheduling an appointment was super quick and easy, and the tech who performed the cleaning and inspection on our chimney, Aaron, was amazing! He was super thorough, kind and explained everything he had done and found in detail. We will definitely use Dr. Sweep again in the future and will recommend them to everyone in the area. We had a great experience with Dr Sweep from start to finish. Scheduling an appointment during the busy season was fast and easy, the team called the day b before to see if they could come in the morning vs afternoon, when they showed up they were friendly and used COVID precautions by default. We were scheduled for a fireplace and flue cleaning but they quickly determined that we needed to have the unit replaced and walked me through the multiple reasons why. They did a quote on the fly and one I approved they completed the flue cleaning and installation (the unit was on the truck already). Everything was completed in about 30 minutes. 5 year warranty out of the box. Highly recommend!

Adam has been to my house twice now during these strange COVID times. He patiently, painstakingly installed a new fireplace and with the same care walked me through every aspect of its use until I was confident. The result is a warm, cozy house and a family who loves snuggling in the living room. Adam goes above and beyond to ensure and maintain your satisfaction. His expertise and assurance mean a LOT to me- a mom with three little ones running around. Adam is the man to fulfill all your roaring fireplace dreams!

Our call was promptly returned by Marisa. We inquired about gas fireplace cleaning/inspection and scheduled appt for service. Due to special circumstances we needed to have someone leave work to meet tech at our home. Marisa was able correlate this so we knew time tech would arrive. Our tech, AJ, called ahead and arrived at stated time, was Covid compliant and put shoe coverings on before entering house. He removed logs, thoroughly inspected fireplace, cleaned firebox, cleaned logs, replaced sand, meticulously arranged logs, then lit fireplace when finished. He answered all concerns and questions. Cleaned up thoroughly after job. This was our first time having our fireplace serviced and we were extremely impressed from start to finish. We called 3 companies for quotes. We understand this is busiest time of year for this type of service, however, Dr Sweep was ONLY company to return call. From reading other reviews, prices appear to be about same for this service. $200 for a great cleaning, EXCELLENT customer care and peace of mind knowing our fireplace is safely operating was well worth it....Oh - I should add.... This was the first time in 30 yrs this fireplace was professionally serviced. It has never looked and operated better. Thanks again to Marisa and AJ for their assistance with our scheduling needs and a job that exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended Dr Sweep!!

I had a gas fireplace that no longer turns on fire on the burner. Only the pilot was working so I called this company to schedule an appointment back in August. It takes 3 weeks for them to be able to come to my home and diagnose the problem. Finally the tech arrived and completed his diagnosis of the problem. He told me I need a new gas valve since it's broken and does not transmit current. I was charged $99 and gave me an estimate of $400 to fix it. I was informed that the office will contact me and schedule an appointment. I waited for 2 weeks and never heard so I decided to check the electrical current again and found out that it was only a bad electrical switch on the wall to turn it on/off. I used my old extra wall light switch and replaced it and the fireplace was working again.

I purchased a home in 8/2019. Prior to purchasing the home, the inspection confirmed major issues with my chimney. The original homeowner happened to be my parents neighbor and life long friends of ours for over 40 years. They reached out to Dr. Sweep to inspect and correct any safety issues. The overall bill was not cheap, but necessary in order to maintain a safe home. After Dr. Sweep inspected and “corrected” any safety issues, we trusted that they did their job. After I purchased the home the house sat vacant for almost a year. Once I settled in to the home I wanted to make sure everything was indeed safe. My family is in construction and builds homes. We’ve been building homes for over 50 years. One of our contracts recommended CJW & Associates Chimney Sweep to look over Dr. Sweep’s work. It’s very sad what a piss poor and unprofessional job Dr. Sweep has done. They did not inform the original owners of the firebox and smoke chamber issues. Both of these could have caused major structural damage if there was a fire lit. Additionally, Dr. Chimney performed a heat shield cerfractory flue sealant to inside joints between flue tiles. When CJW came out to inspect my chimney they took pictures of Dr. Sweep’s work which shows several inconsistencies and cracks that were not fixed correctly. Dr. Sweep charged the original owner (a widowed 70 year old woman) $2,775. They use a heat shield vs fireguard treatment. Fireguard is a far superior product and lasts much longer than heat shield. CJW would charge $1,300 for the exact same service, but would use fireguard which is a much better product.

I reached out to Dr. Sweep to try and resolve the issue. A customer service agent confirmed that the individual who did the work is no longer with the company. She asked me to send her the images of the cracks, inconsistencies, and safety issues. Which I complied.

After several emails and broken promises back and forth, I received an email back today (12/8/20) that the owner that indicated “We are done here and you may contact an attorney if needed. Do not contact our office.”

Not only does this company target and rip off the elderly, not only do they lie to their customers, but they are NOT safe, and they do not stand by their work. Let alone they are poor business folks.

If anyone is interested in reviewing my email chains, reviewing the pictures of their work, and reviewing inspection results post Dr. Sweep’s work - please let me know. The original home owner and I are trying to reason with Dr. Sweep, but if they don’t comply we will be pursing legal options and we will be contacting media, LARA, State of Michigan, and the BBB.

Please get a second opinion before trusting these people. Don’t just take it from me, feel free to connect with the original home owner who is just as surprised and disgusted as I am. Looking forward to trying to resolve this, but it’s taking time that I really don’t have.

This co. is running a scam. They pay people on commission to find something wrong and then propose an expensive repair. They say that almost every chimney is unsafe. We uncovered the scam because we had a recent inspection by a reputable co. that said the chimney was fine. This is not the first time we have run into this scam for this firm.

They did a great job - we had them swap out an old gas fireplace with a new vent less model. We can now turn the fireplace on from the remote with the push of a button. The fire is HOT! We've used the fireplace everyday since it was installed. HIGHLY recommend

So happy we went with Dr Sweep. Everyone was so helpful and friendly from start to finish. Installation was great they got in and got out. I would definitely recommend Dr Sweep!!

We were very pleased with the service and knowledge from Pete. We had not used our fireplace on 20 years but he cleaned and started the gas fireplace carefully looking up the chimney for repair needs. Cleanup was easy as he brought his own tarp. He was very knowledgeable of gas fireplace workings and we talked about a ventless system. I would definitely ask for Pete again. I’m sure all their service reps are very professional!!

NOT RECOMMENDED. I had an estimate done prior to the shut down. I final got my water test rescheduled for 5/16, appointment between 9 and 1. Called and confirmed the day prior NO CALL NO SHOW. I called and sent an email, no response. I called the next business day and was told by a very rude Leslie, well sorry – I don’t know what you want me to do about it. We can come out this weekend? I said no, it’s a holiday weekend and I’m not wasting another 4 hours for someone to maybe show up. I said that was very unprofessional and what guarantee did I have that were going to show up now? I asked what happened, why they didn’t call? She gave me the owners number and told me to call and yell at him.

Pete Musico and his assistant did a job well done. He was informative and the job was done in a timely fashion.

I had my gas fire place cleaned by mr sweep. Pete and his assistant came out, cleaned everything! Took every log and cleaned them, took them out, then vacuumed out all the sand and soot that was there. Replaced it with a beautiful filling and more sand. Replaced and rest the logs cleaned up into the chimney. It looks beautiful! Absolutely love it. Pete was very professional. I would recommend them in a heartbeat! Thanks guys!!

I've used Dr. Sweep and specifically Randy for three different services recently - chimney inspection, install of chimney caps, and install of a gas log fireplace. Randy was great - transparent, easy to work with, and effective. I'm happy I found this group and would use them again. Highly recommend.

Had my fireplace cleaned in August by Dr. Sweep. It was discovered that a fire took place in my chimney and needed repairs before it could be used again. They said they would email me an estimate for converting the fireplace to gas, and an estimate to keep it wood burning. I was emailed an estimate for converting to gas, but not an estimate for keeping it wood burning. I emailed the company several times asking for the other quote because my insurance company needed it. I never got it. I also called several times and was always told they would email me the estimate immediately. That never happened. I don't understand why it is so difficult to email me the estimate. I can't move forward without it.

Solved my problem and got my fireplace working. Went the extra mile for me. Fit me in the next day. Couldn’t be more pleased with price service and outcome. Thx

After waiting for an email response but never got one from management I decided to post this. Had a soot problem clearly marked on the 1st worked order. They came out and cleaned for $200 but never advised if soot problem was fixed. Came out a second time for no charge (so what, they already had my money) only to tell me the unit needs to be replaced for $1200. Hmmm....would have nice to know the first time before they took my $200.

The technician called the day before the appointment to notify me he was available earlier due some cancellations so I appreciated the choice. He called just prior to coming to my house as a heads up which I also really appreciated. The kept everything clean and was highly informed on the health of the chimney. He told me what he was doing , what he was checking for and why. I have high confidence in the service and after getting a clean bill of health to safely continue using our chimney I’m so happy to have found their advertisement and used their services!

Dr Sweep was responsive, thorough in their work, the guys were great when onsite, and they identified and fixed the issue other companies were having difficulty with. Glad we found and got them on the job. Fireplace has been perfect!

Very poor workmanship. The tech who installed our chimney chase cover and cap left caulk everywhere. It was so bad he should have been embarrassed by it. When I took four hours off of work for him to come back and fix it, he never showed up. A different tech came back out but still did not clean up the caulk, he simply painted over it. I would definitely not use this company for your chimney needs. The quality of the work is very bad.

Had these guys come out about 3 weeks ago and noticed they missed something. I have a trap in that leads down to my basement for the ash. I cleaned out almost 3 bags worth of ash. Charged $189 for a cleaning and they didn't even get the biggest part. They guy that came out said he only had about a years experience. I don't fault him. I just want this corrected in the future
