We were pleased with the quote and proceeded. We were told it would be the best job in Charleston and that turned out to be the case. Prompt, professional and on budget. Donnie was personally on the job each day and kept us in the loop. There were no surprises which generally, from our experience is the norm in these situations. He meticulously cleaned up each day and we felt from day 1 that we were being treated openly and honestly. That is refreshing these days. I don’t know where to begin. Donnie is honest. Yes, it still exists! His crew respectful, professional, completely focused, did exceptional work and if they weren’t working on the roof you did not know they were outside. Everyday they were here on time, we’re respectful, worked like maniacs, and cleaned up every afternoon. When they were finished with the entire project left our home with a much needed face lift (just beautiful) and cleaner than they found it. Donnie quoted me on a small $300 roofing repair. At our initial meeting I forgot to ask him about his insurance, so I called him the next day about it. I later received a bizarre text message from him saying he was “insulted especially for the chicken scratch amount of money, never mind I’m not hungry”. I was so confused by the response I thought it was a mistake and the message weren’t meant for me. I asked him about it, and he responded “yeah, I sent it. You think I can get a whole happy meal"? I call and he sends me to vm. I call from another number and get him on the line. He tells me that he is insulted that I asked for his insurance on such a small job because he is an experienced roofer. After some internet and social media digging, I am not the only one who has had such an encounter with him. His reviews on Yelp are scary. Our initial meeting was pleasant but as soon as I asked for his insurance, he had a complete personality change.

I had the opportunity to meet Donnie Long yesterday when he came to my house in Riverland Terrace to replace roof shingles that had fallen off (new roof installed 2 years ago by an incompetent roofing company). I also asked him to investigate two different areas in my house that I suspected had water leak issues. Donnie was able to diagnose the source of the water leak in an upstairs bathroom, and he also found the source of the problem with a section on the wall in the downstairs bathroom where the sheetrock appeared a bit discolored and soft. He quickly determined the two different areas where water was leaking through the flashing, and he expertly did the necessary repairs.
Donnie is an amazingly skillful professional. He has the rare quality of being knowledgeable about both construction and roofing. Donnie’s pricing was very reasonable, he is incredibly knowledgeable, and he takes pride in doing the job right. I am thrilled to have found Donnie. I will certainly call him in the future for all of my roofing issues, and I will heartily recommend him to everyone I know.

Donnie just wrapped up a few home repairs and painting all the trim, my entire garage and my gigantic picket fence. He gave me a very reasonable price for labor and materials and a time frame for how long it would take. He was spot on for how long it would take and reasonably close for the materials. Donnie also did a good job explaining what he was doing and why.

Most importantly he showed up every day and worked hard to get the job done right. I’m very pleased with his work and will definitely hire him to do more in the future.

Mr Long told me he does not carry
workman compensation insurance. This would leave me, the home owner, liable if he or one of his workman, were to get injured while doing the work. He did say he has general liability insurance which still does not cover on the job injuries to workers.
As a home owner, I am not willing to take that enormous financial risk of an on the job injury.
I did find a good contractor, with proper insuance and at a cheaper price....win win.....good luck.
Update....work completed by Bone Dry Roofing....cheaper price than quoted by DL. Bone Dry Roofing is FULLY INSURED including WORKMANS COMPENSATION INSURANCE. I was also pleasantly suprised to find BONE DRY ROOFING DID NOT REQUIRE A DOWN PAYMENT.
They accept payment at the jobs completion. VERY PLEASED WITH BONE DRY ROOFING. Best of luck!

I called several Roofing Companies to repair my fascia flashing below the roof line and either no one called me back or came to my house for an estimate as promised except for Donnie.
He was at my house 3 hours after I called him to pick up the flashing to use as a template to make new flashing. He then came back within a few hours with the new flashing and installed it.
Donnie not only provided excellent customer service he did an excellent job installing the new flashing. The old flashing was installed with regular nails which rusted and were the main cause for it blowing off in the recent
storm. Donnie said he does not use regular nails and only uses Aluminum nails which he did when installing my new flashing.
He even noticed another section of flashing in the front of my house and fixed it at no charge.
I highly recommend Donnie to anyone who needs prompt and professional service.

Donnie did work for me (new roof) in 2015 and did a fine job. I moved to a new place where he did a remediation roof job and went ahead and , without asking, warrentied the "remaining life of the roof". I thought that was cool of him.

This year, i had some facia boards that need replacement and i i texted him. He should have been caught the year before when he was doing the remediation but they they we're not. I asked him if he could come out and price it. He was rude and said he could not be bothered with small jobs.

My take on Donnie- if you need a new roof, he may be an okay person to do it, just make sure he does it right becuse it appears to me he is not coming back.

Donnie Long is honest, works hard, and does a great job! We are so pleased with his work. He will be back to paint our house very soon. He makes sure everything is done perfectly, and when he's finished you will be happy you hired him.

Donnie replaced the roof on my house a few years ago. It was done fast, professionally, and at a reasonable price. No issues at all in the following years. He's down to earth and an honest businessman - highly recommended.

Donnie Long is the only roofer I would recommend to anyone. Before I had a new roof put on four years ago I took numerous estimates and Donnie was the only one I considered to be reasonable. He even refused to take the job at first when I insisted he retain a large skylight that should never have been installed in the first place, was leaking profusely and could not have been fixed by any roofer.
I recently needed more roofing work done, (not related to Donnie's original roof). Donnie came by the next day and solved the problem by the end of the week.
Donnie has a crew that has worked together for over ten years and Donnie himself has over thirty five years experience in roofing. If there are any problems they come back the next day and fix them right the first time.

I am a construction worker with enough knowledge to put a new roof on my house. I priced material and how much I'd be willing to pay people to help me do it and I only figured I'd save myself around 800$ bucks to do it myself so for that I figured let the pros do it! Called Donnie this morning to fix my Ridge Vent. He was out to my house in about 40 min. He just finished . Did a great job replacing the vent, rotten wood and shingles . I highly recommend he even took picture of rotten wood for me so I could see it was rotten. Very honest. :)

We had a wonderful experience with Donnie this past weekend! We had our roof ridge vent repaired 2.5 years ago by another company and unfortunately we were taken advantage of. Donnie promptly came to our rescue on a rainy Saturday and quickly fixed the problem. He was honest and very fair. I have already recommended him to my neighbors and friends and will continue to do so. We can’t thank him enough :)

Donnie installed a roof for us a year or so ago. The work was second to none. We are now selling that home and buying another one. The roof on the new house is in ok shape, but it has a few questionable areas. So we are calling Donnie. It's hard to go back, now that we know what a quality roof is.
