Donahue Chimney Service

I have used Donahue Chimney services for 19 years now to clean my chimney and wood stove, ever since I moved to Rhode Island. He has always been professional, respectful, and on time. He has replaced parts when needed, offered advice and suggestions, and this year patched the cracks in my chimney. He also cleaned the chimney of the previous owners before me. I will never use any other service. Very happy customer!

We have used Rich for about 6 years and have always had a positive experience. He installed a new chimney liner for our wood stove and has done annual cleanings. I have always felt that the jobs have been done professionally throughout all aspects - scheduling, the job itself, and clean-up.

Rich has been taking care of our wood stove and chimney for years. He has always been responsive, on time, and professional. We go through a lot of wood each winter and have great peace of mind knowing that he has looked the stove over and given it a good cleaning before we start burning each year.

It was awful I have already removed his contact info from my phone. He was so distracting I dont think he even cleaned my chimney. He shook my stack back and forth on the roof and I have hired someone to come and inspect my stack and clean my chimney AGAIN. He charged me 250 and instead of cleaning the chimney he cleaned my gutters and said they were not attached correctly and used an electric screw driver to add a screw. The gutter have been on my house for years. I gave him an addition 50 bucks because he had me convinced he did something for me when he did not even clean my chimney. It took me awhile to realize he ripped me off. Never call him, he is a fast talker!! So the creep gives me my money back and then stops payment on the check. Dishonest and unprofessional. Hire someone else or you will end up with nothing but problems. I had to call the police on him twice. 1st he called me at 12:30 am and then again at 5 am. Then he posted my name, address and phone number on this site. Desperate person.

Rich was very responsive, on-time and did great work at a very reasonable price. He is very knowledgeable and I would hire him again without hesistation! Great job Rich!!!

Just used Donahue Chimney service as I always do every year. This guy is absolutely amazing. He even notices minor repairs like cracks that need to be cemented or hinges on fireplace doors that need to be touched up and does it automatically. He has the up to date tools and is completely professional. He's the best!!

Great service. Prompt, knowledgeable and very informative. I bought a house and the previous owners had 2 wood stoves improperly installed. After cleaning the 2 flues, Rich explained the best and safest installation within my budget. When I purchase 2 new stoves this fall, Donahue Chimney Service will be doing the installation!

I moved into a house with a wood stove and chimney that had not been cleaned in quite a while. I called another service, and the guy told me that my roof was too steep, and that the bluestone cap on my chimney made it too difficult for him to use his brushes. It was a complete waste of time, as he declined to do the work

Then I called Rich at Donahue Chimney Service. He asked me text him a picture of my stove, so if he couldn't help me he wouldn't waste either of our time. I really appreciated that after my last experience. Thankfully he said "no problem- I'll clean it from the bottom."

The next morning he showed up early, cleaned my chimney, explained to me how to use my stove to minimize creosote build up, and gave me several recommendations on where to get good, dry firewood, all in less than an hour. He was also very neat- he put down protective cloth and vacuumed as he went so no soot or ash ever made it out of the fire place.

I'll definitely call Rich the next time I need my chimney cleaned.

I used this company 4 years ago. He was not a warm and fuzzy person but did a good job. Had him come today and I don’t know what his deal was but he was arrogant and confusing. He ended up leaving without doing the job, making it seem that it was my issue. I don’t know his business, just wanted my wood stove and chimney cleaned. I would not recommend this company and will certainly never call them again.

September 2018 - Took a look, and said he needed to order a part because the pipe was stuck, and would need to cut it out. He came back, cut into the pipe, said it looked like a previous stack fire because he could see the warp. Said we were all good, don't call me again, and walked out. Previous visits were excellent. Not sure what he is going through, but hope he figures it out.

Excellent service! Went out of his way to repair the furnace vent that they no longer make saving us from a very expensive replacement. Pleasant, professional and prompt! A+++++

Rich came on time, completed the cleanup and went above and beyond the expected service. He even advised on the things that should be taken care of from a maintenance stand point. Told us what was needed and did not sell any services/products that were not required.

I had some smoke coming out of my unit last winter and figured it was due to needing a chimney clean. After inspecting the chimney he found it was clean & gave me tips for starting the fire. There was no more smoke after that! No charge for that visit! He came out again last week for a clean and was there the same day I called. Even cleaned out the lint trap on our exterior dryer exhaust. Will hire him every year.

I am glad everyone else has had such a positive experience. If I could have given zero stars I would have. I have had been heating with wood for over 35 years and have had the chimney cleaned every year. This is the first time I used Donahue. NEVER AGAIN. Some words to describe my experience would be arrogant, rude and unprofessional. I don't know if he had a bad morning but the first words out of his mouth to me were not good morning but he looked at the outside of the job and indicated the roof was too steep and how did others go about cleaning it. On the inside he said the stove was not installed properly being to close to a couch (which is moved during heating season) and a television console (which can also be moved). He stated I would have to sign the receipt indicating the stove is not installed properly, when I asked why he said "Are you a lawyer"? His attitude got worse and he told me he could pack up his things and leave. I probably should have told him to do so. At one point he told me he had over 1,000 customers. Well good for him except it is now 999 because I would never call this company again.

Absolutely a wonderful experience. We have been down in Charlestown for almost 30 years and I must say have NEVER had a more pleasant experience with a contractor. Donahue Chimney is incredible. Honest, beyond honest. You just know he is not looking to charge you any more than he has to in order to get the job done. Think about it. How many of us know about chimneys? From the time he diagnoses your problem to the time he finishes, you know he is treating you with the highest of ethics. Excellent job. The owner and his helper came over on time, did the job and were neat about it for a fair price. Will use these guys again for my fireplace cleanings.

Everything you want in a chimney service. Showed up on time, cleaned up after they were done, and answered all my questions during the service. They even had to replace our chimney cap, and had all the spare parts needed ready to go.

We received outstanding service from the owner and his assistant. They came promptly to inspect our system when we learned that we had lost our chimney cap. Their inspection and made us aware of other problems with our chimney and duct work of which we were totally unaware. They resolved the immediate problem of the chimney cap and the additional problems they uncovered promptly and efficiently.

We will use them regularly now to make sure that our chimneys are performing as they should.

I was delighted with the professionalism and expertise shown by the Donahues. They arrived on time, and gave an honest appraisal of the work that needed to be done. As we'd expected, we needed the chimney cap replaced and the flue cleaned. They did an excellent job. The basement area around the furnace was left very clean, and they used a high quality cap that will not need replacing again! I was impressed with their work ethic, and would highly recommend them.

These guys are super clean and the most efficient chimney service I've seen. They came in and lined the walk path with blankets, got right to work and you'd never know they were here. They also do repair and their prices are very reasonable. I'd highly recommend Donahue.
