Desert Speed Shock Tuning

I spent the weekend at sand mountain and I have got to say having Matt tune my machine was the best money I've spent on it by a long shot!! Never once bottomed out or lost contact in the whoops 100% 10/10!!!

This is the second car (first car was an X3 Max XRS) I’ve had Matt do his full race suspension set up on and simply just, wow! These XRS Mav R’s w/smart shox are supposed to be set up amazing from the factory, but nothing even comes close to after Matt gets his hands on them. Rides like butter at any speed variation. He does an incredible job understanding your riding habits and likes, then knows all about your specific car’s weaknesses, thus the end result ends up being exactly what you were looking for. I have been beyond impressed both times I’ve taken machines to him. Add on his attention to detail and top tier customer service and I can tell you his is the only shop I will take my cars to!

I thought the pro R had good suspension coming from factory but after having Matt get it set up right I’ll never own another stock set up! And he’s one of the nicest guys around!

If you want the best ride quality in your UTV, you need to take your shocks to Matt Bell at Desert Speed. I have had my UTV shocks worked on by some of the best and unfortunately some who have no clue what they are doing both resulting in a less than satisfactory outcome.

I have taken my Can Am to Desert Speed for the last two seasons (1st for a shock tune-up, and 2nd for a complete rebuild). Both outcomes gave my UTV the best ride ever. You can either mail your shocks to him or drop your UTV off at Desert Speed’s shop and he will do the work. Personally I trailer my X3 to Desert Speed located in Huntington, Utah, I tell him what kind of performance I want and he gets it perfect every time. Desert Speed and Matt Bell are the best in the suspension industry, whether it be UTVs, off road truck, cars, or anything off road. Simply put, he is the best!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Matt. He not only rebuilt my X3 Max XRS RR's shocks but also expertly valved and tuned them, resulting in a remarkably smoother ride. Matt's great with outstanding customer service and phenomenal technical ability. He transformed my X3 RC with his race package. Shocks now feel like a true bypass with a far more compliant mid-stroke and improved bottoming resistance over stock. Compared to my 4400 car the X3 typically takes 20-30% longer for a given section of trail...first time out with the new setup the X3 was only 3% slower and I suspect with additional time in the car along with some fine tuning it may actually be faster than the 4400 through some sections...amazing and truly transformed the car.

I took my X3 to Matt at 3000 miles for standard shock service, new seals and nitrogen. When I got them back, they felt like they did when I bought the machine, which was an improvement. At 6000 miles it was getting pretty rough again. I felt and heard every bump, and it dipped hard when cornering at any speed, it was terrible. I took it back to Matt for a complete rebuild and new stage 2 springs. I knew my OEM springs were wore out. I pack a few hundred pounds of gear and accessories. When I got it back, I was blown away at the difference. It was better than the day I bought it without any added weight. So smooth, it just soaked up the bumps. Bump steer was almost non-existent and it cornered amazingly. My only regret is I didn't get this done years ago.
Matt has a riding area set up at his shop. He doesn't just rebuild a shock to the same setting for everyone and hand it back. He tunes them for your riding style, tests them on the machine and dials them in. It was perfect the day I picked it up.
Matt's communication is top notch and he checked in several times after it was done to see if there was any adjustments that needed to be made for my riding style. This is one of those situations where you get what you pay for. It was worth every penny.

Phenomenal! I drove my x3 with its new suspension for the first time this weekend and I would compare it to my experience the first time I drove an x3 after owning a RZR 900. Total game changer! The car soakes up the chatter, flys over the bumps, the nose stays level on jumps, and the car remains level in the high speed turns. It’s a whole different car.

Additionally, my experience with Matt couldn’t have been better. He proactively communicated with me throughout the process and continued to text me throughout the weekend to make sure everything was performing as I had hoped. I’d give him 6 stars if I could.

I’m T4 para and my shocks are crucial for me to enjoy ripping my sxs around day after day. We just finished up with two trips back to back and absolutely love my new suspension set up. Did a full suspension tune and set up revalve shocks new springs , Matt did a awesome job ,YXZ 1000r has never handled like this .it rides smoother and takes the bumps and turns with ease.everything is marked to make note of where it was when he was done.

Matt just performed a shock re-spring, re-valve, and tune on my 22 Can Am Maverick X3 XRS Max. The entire process from booking to pickup was flawless. Communication was excellent throughout and he is focused on making the customer happy. Happy is seriously under stated here. The ride is incredible.

Hands down the best customer service there is. I showed up (2 days late) Matt made a full 8 hours of free time for me. I was in, tested, and out same day. Once I got home and put some time in the car I was feeling a few things so I called him on a Sunday expecting a voicemail, but instead he answered and instantly was all ears. Matt truly is a pros pro, took my 2017 X3(64" converted to 72") to him to get my shocks rebuilt(leaky seals), ended up doing a re-valve & he set the ride height also(still running 64" shocks on 72" wide suspension). I can't even describe the difference in ride quality & the way it handles!! It rides 100X better than it did brand new!!!
Matt got them done about a little over month ago & is still texting/calling to see how the X3 riding/handling & even offered to meet me @ the dunes to help dial the shocks in!!!
I'll definitely keep going back to Matt for anything suspension related, just happy that we have someone in-state(well worth the 1-1/2 hour drive)!!!

Don't hesitate I own a 2013 arctic cat wildcat, I was about to sale it and buy something that rides better. A friend of mine recommended desert speed shock, at first I was like that's a 3 hour round trip to drop it off, I was told it was worth it, and I'll say my ride is better than when it was new. Far beyond any other shocks I have had. Unbelievably good service and and the setup was perfect right out of the box.

We took our Gladiator Mojave to Matt to re-build and re-valve our Fox shocks. Our Mojave had always had a pretty nice ride, but after adding a lift and a rooftop tent we wanted the shocks to match the modifications.
After being told by a couple other shops that they would not work on the factory Fox's that come on the Mojave, we found Matt. He didn't bat an eye when we told him what shocks we had.
He worked with us on leaving a spare vehicle at his yard on two weekends so we could go play. After picking up the Jeep, we headed into the Swell for testing. No Jeep with 35's and a rooftop tent should handle bumps and corners like our Jeep, but here we are. Matt warned us that with the short travel on the shocks, the re-valve is limited. His work was absolutely noticeable and he will be keeping our shocks alive for years to come.

Matt is the man! Tundra TRD PRO owner/fox suspension. About to send the shocks out to FOX in Minnesota/3 week turnaround time. Which means NO transportation for a while in the mountains of Colorado. I called Matt and he MADE IT HAPPEN! Rebuilt my shocks, did a little modification for me, and off I went. SUPER HAPPY and I will return in 30-50k to have it done again. Matt, thank you!

We took our RZR to Matt to get his full race build in preparation for the Redbull High Dessert Scramble.

Due to some motor issues we were having, we never got a chance to test the shocks or make any adjustments ahead of the race. I was a little nervous going into it but right off the bat I was absolutely blown away. This car floats on the whoops, corners like a dream, jumps flat, you can literally through anything at it and it just eats it up!

On top of the amazing job Matt does with his shock builds, the customer service experience was second to none. He’s reached out numerous times to make sure everything is dialed in for my driving style, offers to make any adjustments needed hand is always a phone call or text away.

Matt does an outstanding job. He takes to the time to talk you and get a feel for what you want before he even starts. Once he is done, you test drive and see how the shocks feel and if you need tweaks done. If so they are done right then and there and gets them dialed in before you leave. Matt is amazing!! Honestly a genuine guy to work with. He did a complete rebuild on my 2020 Honda Talon 1000X4 Fox live valve. The shocks are night and day from what they were before. Also I removed the rear sway bar. Sooo much smoother now through the whoops or the Rocky Mountain boulders. Honda kind of botched the suspension on these machines, but Matt and his team worked their magic to make it such a smoother ride. Thanks again Matt, you have a return customer for life!

The first trip you need to take with your machine is straight to this shop. They fixed my 2019 xpt with the walker Evan’s shocks. Now I can put my foot to the floor going through the whoops at the dunes. And I no longer worry about getting bucked when I go over those few jumps. Getting your shocks redone is the very first thing I would do to any machine. Matt is awesome to work with. He got my RZR done faster than expected. Matt serviced our 2019 XP 4 1000 shocks that had 7500 miles on them. Machine now feels better than brand new. The whoops are super smooth and the corners are nice and tight. Scheduling service was easy, drop off of the machine was easy, and Matt stayed in touch during the whole process. He followed up asking how everything was and offered adjustments anytime. Highly recommend.

Matt upgraded the suspension on my 2020 RZR PRO. He installed new springs and valves with parts all made in the U.S.A. he also re-aligned the steering and test drove my machine before I took it. Matt is hands down the best you will find for suspension tuning. We ride the desert near Mesquite, NV and the difference in our ride experience is unbelievable!

I couldn’t have asked for better results! I drove away feeling like I had a different truck. Right off the bat he got down to business, answered all my questions, and was able to dramatically increased my speed/handling over whoops after a seeing just a few passes. It didn’t take long at all to get the truck completely dialed in with his expertise. He took his time to teach and make sure it handled as it should over different obstacles and truly cared/made sure we got everything we could out of the suspension. You will get nothing short of honest and knowledgeable answers to your questions as well as recommendations for necessary upgrades to get more out of your build. Matt definitely knows what he’s doing and it feels and shows in the machine once he’s finished with it. He was done with it when he said he would be and was very accommodating for me to drop off and pick up my machine. Matt is a stud! Very customer oriented, and gets you taken care of on time and at a great rate. Matt @ Desert Speed Suspension Tuning did an incredible job on my 2018 Polaris Ranger Crew 1000XP. The whole family loves the ride now. Super ATV 6” suspension lift, Walker Evans piggy back shocks, and 255/85 r16 tires. I can launch the car and it feels like we’re landing on a cloud! Awesome!

Brought in the coil overs for my 1970 Baja bug, did an amazing job rebuilding them and upgraded them to have external reservoirs on them. After the great experience I had, I won’t go anywhere else for suspension.

The Turbe S is a completely different machine,reach speeds in the desert of over twice than before matt did his magic.

That is something that's been lost in this day and age.my Honda talon is virtually undrivable and turn it into something that you can go as fast as you want through thew whoops. Desert Speed Shock Tuning is absolutely amazing! I have a 2007 KTM that I needed lowered internally. No one, I repeat; no one else could help me. I went to every Motorsports shop and called every motocross suspension company without any luck. I had a great experience with Desert Speed in the past, for suspension work on a race RZR and knew that Matt was a shock genius, so I called to see if he would be willing to work on my dirt bike. I was not happy with my turbo s with the way it rode. It bucked over whoops and would bottom out on dunes transitions no matter where I put the clickers. Matt rebuilt them with Eibach springs and it is now amazing. I picked up the shocks ran home and put them on and headed for the dunes. I can hit anything as fast as I want and it absorbs it all. Matt checked in with me multiple times that day to see how it was working. Great guy, great service. Have your shocks done you won't be disappointed.

I cant say enough good things about the work Desert Speed Shock Tuning does. I had Matt help me out with springs and valving setup on my Razor. I never imagined it would ride this smooth and perform so well over whoops! Dont mess around with other companies, do yourself a favor and call Desert Speed first!
