Love these guys. We hired them originally to repair a few places on our roof that we knew were leaking and replace damaged skylights. We live in a geodesic dome house that is 80% roof and often have trouble finding people comfortable with working on it.

Found out as they worked on it that there was far more damage than anticipated. The skylights had been installed incorrectly by the original builders. They had to replace roof rafters that were completely rotted through and unsafe. They were great about showing us exactly what was wrong, took pictures of the damage for us, explained what it would take to fix the unexpected damage. It was all transparent and collaborative. Hard to find that these days.

In process of fixing another area, same situation. Sheathing and rafters completely rotted. Flaked away by hand. . They pointed out how the current roof had been done incorrectly with insufficient overlap of shingles on the triangles, etc.

We decided to have them tear off the roof and inspect the rest of the roof lumber, have them repair any discovered damage, and put a new roof on. Damien was able to provide a reasonable estimate and a very clear method of charging for damage repair as it was discovered (who knew what else was under there?)

Being his first dome house job, I provided them with the roofing manual. He actually read it! (That shouldn’t be notable, but has been my experience that many contractors we have worked with over the years do not do. ). He talked to the dome manufacturers directly to better prepare.

They stripped the roof, inspected, repaired, and reroofed in 6 days. It being their first dome, there was a learning curve and there were a few minor leaks when it was done. Not really surprising for first time on a geodesic.

BUT AMAZINGLY…when we reported the leaks, a crew was at our house within 30 minutes, in the rain, on the roof, and diagnosed the issues and fixed them within 2 hours. I’ve never experienced that kind of responsive, immediate service from any contractor before.

(Contrast that with Paul Davis Restorations that took nearly 18 months to fix a leak in an addition they built for us. Seriously.)

Delmarva Exteriors is professional, polite, collaborative and as transparent about costs and unexpected issues as I’ve ever experienced. Never once thought they were trying to gouge us. Damien keeps in touch, calls when he says he will. The crews show up on time, are very considerate, and clean up thoroughly after the job.

We will be working with them on future projects as able. Really great experience. Recommended.
