From start to finish, working with Deckscapes of Virginia to enhance our back porch and create a beautiful patio was an absolute pleasure. John Doherty made the design and HOA approval process so smooth. The construction team set up a group text with us and everyone working on our project (Tyler and Luis). They gave us a heads-up on what we could expect each week from material delivery, crew work, schedule adjustments due to rain, and their crew was very kind and respectful. They managed to bump up our timeline by filling us in between gaps in their schedule, completing our project 3 months ahead of schedule. Color us impressed! I appreciated how responsive they were to the group texts. Definitely gave us peace of mind throughout the entire process. We loved what they did with the ceiling on our back porch so much that we asked them to redo our front porch. It looks so much better than the flimsy builder grade material we had before.

I can’t recommend Deckscapes of VA enough. I had heard horror stories from neighbors about other companies being hard to get a hold of or ghosting them on projects. Our neighbors agree that Deckscapes' demolition of our old deck, and construction of our new deck, porch, and patio were done with the highest level of competency and professionalism. Deckscapes proved to be (a) super-responsive to inquiries, (b) meticulous in its attention to detail, (c) technically super-competent, (d) thorough wrt pre and post construction tasks, (e) reasonable price-wise, and (f) super-reliable. We are very pleased with how our backyard project turned out, and very happy with how Deckscapes handled everything. The deck and patio look fantastic. There was one problem we encountered during the demo, but Deckscapes promptly responded and remedied the situation. I took one star off because of this incident (which was entirely preventable), but I would have given them 4.5 stars if that was an option, because their communication was excellent throughout the whole project, including when this incident took place. Their excellent communication was evident also during the design process as well as follow-up. Overall great experience working with Deckscapes and would recommend.

Deckscapes just completed my screened in porch and deck and I couldn't be happier. The quality and workmanship is outstanding, communication was excellent along the way and the finished product is just fantastic. I had used Deckscapes at a previous house so I knew this would be high quality work. I still did my homework and talked to 5 other companies but they didn't compare overall. For the next project, no need to talk to anyone else. I'll always turn to Deckscapes from any outdoor project. Highly recommend!

Deckscapes is amazing! This is our second project at two different homes and they did a great job. They helped us design our space and made great recommendations.

We had a wonderful experience with Deckscapes of Virginia! My existing deck needed to be replaced, and it was something I was unable to do on my own. I had heard very good things about Deckscapes of VA, and am very glad I had them come to my home and give an estimate. I met with John, and he carefully listen to my design questions and concerns, without trying to upsell my on every possible option. After reviewing and agreeing on the design, John and Fred came out to do a final evaluation of the project before they began to make sure we were all on the same page and answer any final questions. this was very helpful because there had been a little time between my initial visit with John and the installation date.

Once they began we were introduced to Tanner, one of their field managers, who met us at our home the day of installation. He kept in constant communication concerning deliveries of materials, dumpster drop-off & pickup, and project progress. This was a wonderful surprise to never have to guess what was going on from day to day.

After the project was finished, I met with Tim, who is one of the Customer Care Managers, and he went over all of the warranty information with me, and let me know to call him immediately if I had any questions or if anything came up.

My new deck is about 300 square feet, about 7 feet above ground using Trex Enhanced decking. The job site was always left clean, and finished ahead of schedule despite a little rain. I would 100% recommend Deckscapes of Virginia! I was very impressed with their professionalism and staff, as well as the quality of their work.

I would highly recommend Deckscapes, they did a wonderful job on our pretty large patio. They were timely, clean and respectful. Our PM Tylor was amazing and was on site extensively to ensure the work was being done at the quality he would approve. We would definitely hire them again for additional hardscape work.

The whole process was easy from start to finish. Randy worked with us and our budget for a great design. His 3D modeling was fantastic. Tanner was extremely communicative as our project manager POC throughout the build process. Lastly, Tim was great in following up to make sure everything went well. Very happy with the end result!

Deckscapes recently completed a full tear down of our old deck and replaced it with a beautiful new design, including new decking and an outdoor kitchen. In the past we didn't utilize our deck as much as we could have, as the back of our house gets full afternoon sun and in the warm weather, the deck was often unusable because of the intense heat. We knew we needed some sort of shade, but we had difficulty figuring out what would be the best solution - shade, without covering the kitchen windows which would make the inside of the house too dark, nor blocking views from inside.
We interviewed several companies but felt most comfortable with Deckscapes and their willingness to really listen to us (one of the companies that we passed on gave us an astronomical estimate, then proceeded to give us a number of "discounts" to bring it more in line with other estimates - a practice that seemed shady to me.) Deckscapes was straightforward and detailed in their estimate. John met with us on several occasions and was extremely patient in listening to our concerns and desires, coming up with several ideas and a solution we loved. His suggestion was a Struxure brand pergola - something we had never considered or even heard of (Google it - it is very cool!)
After a bit of a county permitting delay (not Deckscapes fault) the project ended up starting around the holidays, so there were a few delays due to that and the winter weather, but the work was done efficiently and Deckscapes was very good about keeping us informed of scheduling. There are multiple layers of oversight and our questions or concerns throughout were responded to quickly. I can't say enough good things about the crew; all were professional, polite, and skilled. At the completion of the project, in addition to a walk-through, Tim and John scheduled a sit down meeting with us to make sure we were completely satisfied and also to ask us how they could improve the process; we were impressed by this.

We are extremely happy with our new deck; it feels much more like an extension of our house than our old deck and I know we will get much more enjoyment and use from our backyard now. I would not hesitate to recommend Deckscapes or use them for future projects.

We had a terrific experience with Deckscapes. As a designer, I'm an unusual client. I'd already developed my design, but the team was able to translate it beautifully while maintaining my intent. The crews were incredibly fast, skilled, and pleasant. I was floored with their attention to detail and how they were able to understand and deliver on our design. We had an absolutely AMAZING experience working with the team at Deckscapes! One of my best friends had referred me to them after constructing a deck of his own. Every step of the journey was great. Our initial conversations were prompt and professional. The initial consultation really showed us that this was a top-notch company to work with. We felt listened too, with all of our requests reflected back to us. The renderings that came back in a matter of days reflected EXACTLY what we were looking for! Being able to visit a large showroom to make a few final decisions in materials, colors, and other options really opened our eyes to what was possible.

Deckscapes get maximum stars on all these critical areas of assessment. I like the fact that they have a local office where you can actually see some of the products that they propose for construction. Their process for working with the customer is second to none. They have a pre-construction meeting with the customer to establish expectations and schedule. They set up a group text message to facilitate communication which was used to great degree. The quality of the work was suburb. There was much more detail with the construction than I was expecting - a really nice touch. Finally, there was a post construction meeting to ensure the customer is satisfied with the project. Again, the communication with the entire team was tremendous.

They completed our project in timely manner. Our overall experience from sales/design to completion was simple, straightforward and met our expectations.

We contacted Deckscapes of Virginia back in December to start working on tearing down our old wood deck and replacing it with a Trex deck/screened in porch combo that goes the length of our home. The staff was great to work with during the design phase and everything went smoothly once the physical build began. The carpentry is excellent and the workmen were awesome. We had a great experience with Deckscapes! We received several quotes and not only were they competitive with their price but they gave us a 3-D rendering of what the whole project would ultimately look like. That was really important for us as we were doing a screened in deck with stairs to a walkout patio underneath and also wanted landscaping but needed to know what the finished product would really look like. Deckscapes has been a business we’ve had our eye on for a while. We had met with them over ten years ago but the timing hadn’t been right for us, but now, we had a grand idea that we wanted them to help us achieve. Our first meeting was a design consultation where we looked over the outside space together and we gave some vague must haves and nice to haves. Later we met at their showroom that had all the material samples and went over different configurations that they had worked up for us. We went back and forth on some items, got clarification on others, and looked closely at the samples. Everything was high quality and we felt we would be getting a good value for the quoted price.

Let’s do this. We asked for a stone paver patio and a Trex deck. Most of which would be screened in with sliding windows. Payments were split up to be paid as milestones were achieved which we appreciated. When construction began we were blown away by the organization, coordination, and efficiency their team had. So much progress happened so quickly we were stunned.

Long story short, it was a major project and one we would happily tackle again with a company that kept us up to date, showed great professionalism, and far exceeded our expectations with the finished product. My father in law works in construction and he too was very complimentary of the work done (high praise from someone that is often very critical of a field he’s very familiar with).

Every friend, neighbor, and contractor that we’ve since had to our house has been AMAZED by the finished product. We could not be more pleased and use that space every single day.

We recently completed a significant project with Deckscapes of Virginia to replace old balconies, a deck and wooden stairs from the front of our house to the back and then down to the lakefront. We initially contacted several contractors in the spring of 2021 and Deckscapes immediately stood out with their responsiveness, willingness to tackle the project and transparency. This was in contrast to other contractors who no bid the work due to challenges with the project, gave us designs that clearly did not display an understanding of what we wanted or ghosted us entirely after seeing the scope of work being requested. We worked with Brandon through several design iterations, visited Deckscapes and finally got to the point where we just needed to sign the contract and move forward. For a host of reasons, we decided to hold off on starting the project at that time, asked Deckscapes to hang on to the design and costing and said that we intended to revisit the project later.

Fast forward a full year and we were ready to move forward with the project. We contacted Deckscapes and they had everything ready where we left off. They updated the costing and we signed the contract and began the process of getting the project moving. The project required numerous atypical approvals based on the property location and we worked through a long approval process with the county and HOA that ultimately required some redesign of the deck and a new stone stepper staircase that was originally planned as a wooden staircase coming off of our new lower deck. Deckscapes worked to keep redesign costs similar to the original contract and still deliver the functionality that we wanted from the project.

Once the project began, everything proceeded about as smoothly as you could expect considering the numerous crews and large amounts of material involved. We had demo, carpentry, electrical, hardscape, gutter installation and drywall crews involved in our project. We also had a couple of change orders that were implemented fairly seemlessly into the project. As expected for a large project, there were a couple of issues along the way where we were not completely happy with stone placement or a section of railing sustained some minor damage or a small trim piece was cracked. In every instance, our concerns were addressed promptly and to our satisfaction.

In the end, we got what we wanted out of a challenging project that was very important to us to have done correctly. Based on our interactions with Deckscapes over the course of the last two years, we have confidence that we received a quality product from a company that will stand behind their work into the future.

Deckscapes of Virginia is one of the best contractors we have ever used. We interviewed 10 deck companies for our project, and Josh was the only designer who returned a rendering of our verbal design correctly on the first try. He listened to us and also offered valuable insight into improving our project. We started the project in the pandemic with product shortages, but the team adapted and as needed. We also needed Deckscapes of Virginia to collaborate with our siding contractor which they did seamlessly. Fred was a fabulous project manager, and the team was extremely talented both in design and quality of their work. In all, they made sure that we were satisfied and went above and beyond to deliver a high quality deck that we have been enjoying.

To anyone looking to build the deck of your dreams, you can search for months looking for the best deal and value, but you will ultimately come back to Deckscapes of VA. I moved into my brand new home 2.5 years ago and immediately started looking for a deck company that could build a deck that was comparable to the style and value of my home. I also wanted a company that had the experience to provide me with suggestions to make my dream deck look even better. As I alluded to earlier, I received quotes from many companies, but no other company had quite the portfolio for the "curved' deck and staircase I wanted.

After searching for a year and waiting months due to their backlog, the deck was built and it was done to perfection. You will of course find issues here and there as I urge you to pay close attention to your deck as it is being built. That being said, anything I pointed out to Deckscapes was resolved to my satisfaction.
The deck crew was also cordial and always cleaned up at the end of the day. If I had any issues that needed to be resolved, the foreman was always willing to listen and hear me out. In the end, They'll make you a satisfied customer.

Deckscapes was incredible to work with. I had in mind exactly what I wanted and our designer worked with me to make it even better than I imagined. The construction crew worked their tails off and finished our project a week ahead of schedule! Everyone, including our daily project manager, was super responsive and flexible. While deckscapes was not the lowest price quote I got, they really shined in quality and craftsmanship. They were also very transparent about the pricing in our initial discussions! We got all the bells and whistles for the same price others were quoting with lower quality materials. The crew also did a fantastic job minimizing the impact to our property. After getting estimates from numerous contractors in the northern virginia area, I decided that Deckscapes was the most trustworthy and cost effective combination. Our project included a covered deck, patio, landscaping, and replaced railings on basement walkout. When you work with deckscapes, you are getting a team with the ability to reachback into the company for support when any challenges arise. they are 100% committed to customer satisfaction. they even helped me hang the television on the porch. I really enjoyed the experience working with deckscapes and I strongly urge you to meet with them during your design process. I expect they will earn your confidence as well. you wont be disappointed with the quality of the project. for big projects you cant really afford to take the risk on smaller contractors who may not be able to deliver.

They kept us informed of any challenges or delays due to supply and worked with us to look at other options that were available sooner. Both the decking and the patio teams were very professional and always cleaned up at the end of each day. We would definitely recommend Deckscapes and consider them for future projects.

We worked with Deckscapes three years ago to build a roofed deck and found the service and craftsmanship excellent then. But what has impressed us more is the way Deckscapes has stood by their work -- when we had an issue with the heaters that reoccurred two years after the face, Deckscapes was just as responsive and helpful in getting the issue resolved as they had been during the initial installation -- this despite the fact none of this was technically under warranty any longer. We've recommended Deckscapes to our neighbors and will continue to do so!

We had an existing concrete patio with steps down that we didn't like. Deckscapes was able to cover the existing patio with a beautiful screened in porch that was at walk out height. Although weather did create some delays they started before Christmas and the porch is now ready for spring. Would highly recommend as the 3D renderings are extremely helpful when making decisions.

Deckscapes replaced our wood deck and also added a patio. We negotiated in the contract for an additional charge (that we did end up paying in full) some additional site prep work. Deckscapes did not complete the work as worded in the contract. I did end up having to go back later to fix their poor work, including removing building material trash they had left under landscaping fabric to try to hide what they didn't do, and adding soil to complete the grade work specified in the contract. Not honoring the contract was the biggest issue, but there were others.

Worst company I had to work with in a long time. I spent a long time finding a company and settled on them. I started June 1st to get a design done. It took 4 months, and we still did not have design without complaining. They were working on saving us money on the last change. After over a month with no response, when I finally complained, I got back the cheaper design with the same price as when they started. So, either they missed things on the original pricing and made me lose deck while keeping the same price. Or, they never did any changes over the months of telling me they were. I was to start my deck this year and instead, I am still getting started. I lost an entire year by starting with this company. My advice, do not use this company.

One of the best businesses in Northern VA when it comes to building decks, patios, screened pavilions. After extensive research and interviewing 5 businesses I selected Deckscapes of VA LLC and so glad I did. They did a fantastic job that was on time, good value for the money and the team that took on the project from the sales lead, project manager to the crew were so professional. They did a stellar job so much so that few other neighbors saw the work and have decided to evaluate Deckscapes as an option.

Deckscapes of Virginia built a porch and deck for me that is absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about the quality of their work and the professional excellence of their staff and workers. From the design to the completion, they were outstanding.

The beginning of the process and working with the sales team was a great experience. After the deal was signed and got through the permitting process the work began. For the most part they held to their dates, but communication with the project manager is where issues began. At the end , they did a good job with constructing a deck replacement and built a new patio paver system.

They state they have a strong warranty and introduce you to your point of contact at the end of construction. Five months later there was an issues with the pavers and I sent in an email for warranty work. This went unanswered for quite some time and was told a month ago that they are too busy to do warranty work. It has been 3 months and they have failed to honor their commitment to the warranty.

A fantastic company, a very well-built deck, and a process that was excellent from start to finish. From design all the way through post-construction, everything was professional, well communicated, and beautifully done.

Deckscapes was recommended to us by family friends, and we are also pleased with the work and happy to provide a similar recommendation. Deckscapes removed an existing patio, installed a new one, and built a 16' x 20' elevated screen-in porch above it. I inspected the progress every day and was pleased with the quality of the workmanship. The designers were skilled at providing us design options, which were then executed professionally and accurately by the construction teams. The project went very well and we are thrilled with the result. Some minor issues were encountered, and a small amount of rework was required, but overall an excellent company, product and experience.

The team at Deckscapes of VA did a great job on our project. From the initial meeting to design they listened to our wants and provided a great design and estimate. They did not try to sell us on things that didn't make sense and designed a deck and patio that was right for our home. There were no surprises and all the construction was completed per our design. The guys were always on time, courteous, only a text away for questions and performed with incredible professionalism. Several years ago Deckscapes built my deck and stone patio. They even built the deck with removable screens, which has been a fantastic plus.
Everything was done with great care. Recently the half wall had a very small issue. I called Deckscapes to see what supplies I needed to fix it.
Instead they promptly sent a crew out to fix the problem.

We had an old deck removed, a new deck & paver patio put in. Our favorite part of the whole process was working up front with Brandon to design our ideas and get the process kicked off. Once the work started it only took a few months to complete, not bad considering this including excavating our yard to level it out and dealing with some less than ideal weather at times, this was during Nov & Dec of 2019.

They are not the cheapest, but it's apparent why when you see the professionalism at every step and the quality of work & materials. They took care of everything and made this project an enjoyable experience. Everyone that's seen it so far comments on the fantastic quality of work. We can't wait to use our deck & patio now that the weather's getting nicer.. was good timing since we are now confined to stay at home due the pandemic!

We love our new Trex deck with grilling station, dry space patio underneath, and the grand looking stone stairs and walkway up to the driveway. Wow! Today another contractor was here and asked “who did all of this beautiful stone work? It’s really well done.”

Initially we weren’t sure exactly what we wanted but Deckscapes presented some great ideas and together we agreed on a design. The crew started mid-December and despite the weather they did an amazing job on time and budget. The two project managers, one for the deck and one for the patio, were very professional and kept us engaged throughout the build.

They were great! Professional from start to finish. They started on time and worked around our vacation. I found their commitment to quality to be an uncommon exception among contractors. They care enough about your experience to not only send true pros to your site but to follow up with you, solicit feedback, and of course warranty their work. Tim reaches out to us shortly after the project was complete to ask specific questions about the team, the process, and the final project. We couldn’t be happier with this addition to our home and began enjoying it even before it was complete.

My favorite thing about working with Deckscapes besides my beautiful end result is that they were willing, every step of the way, to create something completely custom and relatively outside the norm. It was always “let me find the best way to do this” rather than “no, we don’t do that.” I had a very specific idea of what I wanted relative to form, function, and finishes. I got 100% of what I wanted. They are not the least expensive builder on the block but their pricing is quite fair for what you get.

A note to anyone who has concerns about the nature of the people who will come to your property.
