Contacted the company for a basement remodeling. Scheduled an appointment and everything, but when the estimator showed up at my house, I was then informed that they do NOT accept jobs that are less that 15k. I would have been happy to had known such information on the initial phone call instead of in person, waisting my time and the company's time.
So, if you are looking to have them over to perform a job at your place, keep in mind that starting price is 15k.

We used Cyrus Construction for a full basement finish - rec room, office, and full bath. While they were not the cheapest estimate we got, they were in the middle, and their service and professionalism were worth it. The Project Manager Farzan was always responsive and professional. He worked with us as we tweaked the design a couple times. He also was sure to check in on the project several times. The construction team led by Jose was great. Jose and his team were always professional, clean, and friendly. Jose was always willing to listen and answer questions. They also delivered on time which everyone knows is a rarity with contractors. They told us 6-8 weeks, but were also upfront that it could take longer if there were unforeseen circumstances. They finished in 8 weeks even with a few hiccups and delays with the county inspection. We definitely recommend and will consider them again when it is time for the next project.

Cyrus completed a large basement renovation project that included adding a wet bar and gym. They did a wonderful job. Farzan was our project manager. He assisted on design and was our point person for every step of the project. Thanks to Cyrus for a job well done!

Cyrus Construction just completed a basement renovation at our home in Falls Church, Va. They took an unfinished basement and turned it into a beautiful space. We added a half bathroom, egress window, a storage closet, and closets for HVAC. The bid, material selection, permits, etc processes were all seamless and expertly handled. They started the project on time and finished in the estimated construction timeline. I was very pleased with the crew, who was diligent and did their best to minimize disruption, and contain and cleanup the inherently messy process. The team was also very responsive on questions and concerns that arose during the project. They also kept us well informed when water or electricity had to be shutoff for brief periods and coordinated with us to minimize the impact. Overall, I am very happy with the finished project, the crew, and whole team who supported the project. We are very much looking forward to using this new space!

The pics below are representative of a ~ $12-$15K master bathroom remodel Cyrus did for us. Included demo (removal of tub, sink / cabinet combo, toilet and 2x large wall cabinets), floor reinforcement, permits / inspection, and install of a walk-in tile shower w/ sliding glass door, new lighting, in-wall medicine cabinet, new vanity, new toilet and new flooring.

Went w/ Cyrus not because their estimate was the cheapest, but because of their apparent professionalism. Russel quickly impressed me as someone who would stand behind and guarantee his work. Quality work, professionalism, flexibility and standing behind your work is more important in my book than being cheapest. Russel and his team delivered on all fronts!

As with any remodel, hiccups occurred that extended the timeline, but most delays were my own fault as I dragged my feet picking out fixtures, tile, etc. All my issues / concerns were immediately remedied. Despite a BUSY schedule, Russel was responsive and always eager to look for opportunities to get work done.

We did have one small problem with a worker not securing our front door via the lockbox / key. This happened once, and upon being notified of our concern, Russel did not allow that worker back on our job.

Hired Cyrus Construction to remodel my basement and turn a half bath into a full bath. Worked with Farzan as the project manager. Farzan was very attentive and responsive from the beginning. He took the time to go over the estimate and what we wanted/needed several times. He was very helpful and patient with us throughout that process.

When it came time to start the project, Farzan came out reviewed the plan on site with us and made sure everything was lined up. The team did a great job turning our dingy basement into a beautiful bonus space and full bathroom. Farzan was always in touch with us throughout the process to answer questions and help with suggestions. Overall the cost was very reasonable compared to other crazy estimates we received. They added in some work midway through the project to fix poor work another contractor had done before which was great. During the final walkthrough Farzan was very attentive and made sure to capture all the little fixes that needed done. The small touch ups were done nicely and in a timely manner and were minimal.

Highly recommend working with Cyrus Construction and Farzan if you have a project coming up.

I do not usually write reviews, but this time I decided to write from my own experience. I had just moved into our house and the kitchen and rooms needed remodeling. At first I was very upset that we had a construction in the new house. I found Cyrus company on the internet and made an appoinment. Farzan was the project manager and I believe he is one of the most professional and polite people I have ever seen. He patiently answered all my questions, understood all my concerns, and fully explained the project process. He was always available after the start of the project and is the most professional and polite person I have ever seen. Now my home remodeling is over and I walk home, I feel very good. I am very satisfied with working with Cyrus Construction and I recommend it to everyone..

They installed new drainage in our basement and refinished our basement. Farzan communicated well and we are happy with the work.

We recently used Cyrus Construction to remodel both our main and guest bathrooms. Not only were we extremely satisfied with the end result, but we appreciated the attention to detail and frequent updates throughout the process.

We first came across Cyrus while looking online and scheduled a time to meet in the showroom to receive a quote. We initially met with Russel who explained the general process and showed us the selection of materials. We explained it was our first time doing a remodel like this and we were still at the beginning of the process, and Russell was great about answering our questions.

We continued to get quotes from a few other contractors in the area and Cyrus Constructions offer remained very competitive. But what sealed the deal is Cyrus was the only company that followed up with us to see if we had any questions about the process. We ended up deciding to purchase our own tile to get a specific pattern, and Cyrus was not only able to accommodate but again were very helpful and answered questions regarding what additional materials would be needed to actually install and complete the project.

That attention and level to detail continued through the installation as well. Russell made sure to go over the general designs beforehand and then the installers were extremely helpful and would display patterns so we could actually see the various options for the specific details before committing and installing. This really helped ensure we got exactly what we wanted and came through in the final product!

Overall we were extremely satisfied and would highly recommend Cyrus if you’re looking to remodel.

Russell is outstanding to work with. He provided great vision on the basement remodel, was easy to schedule and gave great suggestions on finishes. His offices are professional and his staff is polite. Additionally, (and most importantly) he took his time describing the best places to make upgrades and where it was going to be less valuable. I worked with several other contracts for a basement quote and he was by far the best. I’ll note, we’ve not started work yet, but based on the pictures and review from other customers very excited and confident it will be great!

Fantastic experience - would definitely hire again.

We asked Cyrus Construction to add an entry foyer, bedroom, and full bath to our unfinished basement. They also relocated our washer and dryer to a more convenient configuration on the other side of the basement. We added a couple of items after the job began - an EV charger at the front of the house and an outdoor electrical outlet in the back.

Russell asked plenty of questions to be sure he (and we) knew what we were asking for, and to make sure we understood how the changes and additions would affect the total cost and the timeline.

We did run into a snag - the Armstrong vinyl plank flooring we chose didn't perform the way it was supposed to. It wouldn't lay flat on the concrete. The distributor agreed that the problem was with the product, not the installation, but we had to make a claim and wait to see if the manufacturer would agree. Cyrus handled the complaint process for us and, when the maker failed to honor the claim, credited our total and gave us free installation of a different flooring product that we found on our own.

They're straight with you, and they listen carefully. Can't ask for more than that.

I wanted to remodel my bathroom, got several bids for my project and decided on Cyrus Construction. My decision wasn"t based on the lowest or highest bid but on the interest the contractor took in the project whether big or small. Russell took time to listen to what I wanted, look at the bathroom to be remodeled and offered suggestions.
The crew covered floors and furniture before starting each day and cleaned up before leaving. Any concerns I had during the remodeling project I communicated to Russell and all were addressed and fixed in a professional manner.
I totally love the look of my remodeled shower with the frameless glass door which, is the style I wanted to achieve, clean, no shower curtain or frame. Overall I am very pleased with the job and my remodeled bathroom looks great. I would honestly recommend Cyrus Construction.

We hired Cyrus to remodel our unfinished basement and our expectations were far exceed by the finished product! They turned our dingy, uninspiring basement where we had nothing but storage into an awesome bar/lounge area where we plan on watching hours of sporting events, a gaming room for my kids that is separated from the “adult” side and a beautiful full bathroom (which is nicer than all of the other bathrooms in my house)!! Every step of the way we had Russell to ask questions or ping him with comments about what we were seeing. He was always responsive and communicated with us via email, phone and text. He always kept us apprised of the “next steps” in the project. I would highly recommend Cyrus and will likely use them for our next home renovation!

I had Cyrus Construction build a wet bar in my basement. They listened to what I wanted and made sure that all the details were to my satisfaction. I am VERY pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of their staff and crew. I would highly recommend them.

Our project was a remodel of a medium-sized basement, which needed a complete refresh.
We discussed the project with several companies, and chose Cyrus because we liked their ideas, their approach, and their pricing. They were neither the cheapest nor (by a long way) the most expensive, but were reasonable compared to typical local design/build companies. They were also very responsive in discussing ways to adjust the plan to meet our budget constraints.
Once the work began, the crew were a pleasure to work with; the were always responsive to our many questions, immediately resolved the few inevitable minor technical issues, turned up without fail when expected, and completed the work professionally, unobtrusively (as far as demo and rebuild can be unobtrusive!), and promptly.
At one point, we found that the practical utility of one of the fixtures did not live up to the design vision that we had originally agreed to; Cyrus were completely cooperative in resolving the problem at no cost to us.
The result is everything we hoped for. We are delighted with the layout, lighting, workmanship and finish and Cyrus would be among our first calls should we contemplate any similar project in future.

I was looking for the cheapest contractor I could find to finish my basement, which was approximately 1100 sq. ft. of concrete. I spoke with 4 contractors. Of course every single contractor told me different things. I was told I needed to waterproof my entire basement before they could do anything, I needed an additional electrical panel, I needed an additional sump pump and I couldn’t put my wet bar where I wanted it. This was my first experience dealing with contractors in regards to finishing a basement. Needless to say I was very frustrated because no one would give me a quote, they all kept telling me everything I needed to do that didn’t include the finishing of my basement. I had no idea what I was doing, but I did know what I wanted the end result to be.
The PM, Russell Blake, was the person that came and looked at my basement to give me an estimate. He was on time and very polite. As he took measurements of my basement, he did provide me advice when I was telling him how I wanted my basement to look. I appreciated his opinion, especially since this was my first time. He didn’t badger me or tell me I couldn’t do anything. He also didn’t tell me about all these other things that “I was supposed to do first” before I could even start on my basement. He simply showed me pictures of previous jobs and made suggestions in areas that I was unsure about. I did do research and those items that I was told HAD TO BE DONE, were not items that were mandatory in order to accomplish what I wanted.
I went back and forth with the quote between Cyrus Construction and another contractor. Russell was prompt with his responses. Which I appreciate, I do not like to wait more than 24 hours for a business to provide me with information. They were not the cheapest but they weren’t the most expensive. The quote was still within my budget. Cyrus Construction did come highly recommended when I did my research and read the reviews. I did see some reviews that weren’t 5 stars, but I looked at the time of the project, how many negative reviews there were total and how many reviews overall. My concern was the overall rating. I believe you can make some of the people happy some of the time, but not all of the people happy all the time. I also chose Cyrus Construction because they did not BS me!!
Russell was very easy to work with. I changed my mind a few times, but there was never an issue with my requests. Someone was always home at my house, so the workers did their best to stay out of our way and were always very polite. It took about 6 to 8 weeks for my basement to be complete. I added a small room with an egress window, a half bathroom and wet bar to my basement. All areas were fully finished except the gym area, which I had them close off and just add an entry door. I am very picky and a little bit OCD. I went over my basement with a fine tooth comb and provided Russell with my list, which were all cosmetic. Russell made sure that all items were met to my satisfaction before I made my final payment, even down to the smallest detail.
I am very happy with the end result of my basement  I attached some before and after pictures. I am still in the process of decorating, so disregard the grandbaby and toys!!

We recently used Cyrus construction for our kitchen, Bathroom and a large portion of our basement and we are impressed with both the process and the results. I have consulted numbers of contractors and takes genuine pride in the quality of the work they’re doing, and that certainly describes Project Mgr. works with.

Both our kitchen and bathroom looked amazing and did a good layout and design for us to choose. We were very happy and so much impressed with the outcome .Also, the quality of materials used are of high- quality standard, and the tradesmen listened patiently of what we wanted for both our kitchen and bathroom. We were absolutely delighted that the time frame finished without any delay and within our budget .And this another big factor for choosing Cyrus construction. I do appreciate their attentiveness, and they are very welcoming too when we dropped by in their showroom they showed us lots of kitchen and bathroom products that we can choose from for our kitchen and bathroom and basement that we needed with high-quality materials.

Cyrus staffs were very helpful. They provide us with numerous sources for our kitchen cabinetry with very good quality, tiles for our countertops and floor tiles for our bathroom.

All the work performed throughout the renovation was of the highest standard, and we enjoyed working with James. The crew cleaned the area every time they finish working , no dust or clutters around my house .I also appreciated how hard they worked to keep the schedule and my budget at the same time. The job they did for me was fresh, modern and very creative looking. And any questions I asked them regarding my kitchen and bathroom which was my main concerned James was very responsive which we were also impressed. He gave me a clear and detailed explanation patiently and honestly. I felt very comfortable and his straight -forward approach .And with James skill of craftsmanship and code of knowledge has the ability to problem-solving and I would recommend Cyrus Construction are a reliable contractor. They did an excellent job. I look forward to hiring them for the work I need to be done.

I enlisted Cyrus construction to perform my kitchen remodel. The only aspect of the kitchen that was not changed was the layout; everything else was replaced. Russell, my project manager, was friendly, professional, honest and matter of fact. He worked with me to stay within my budget and also assisted me in designing the kitchen. Once the project was underway, I felt comfortable bringing up any concerns I had, as mundane as they might have been. He was timely with change orders and updates. And the project was not considered complete until my every concern was addressed. My kitchen has since been getting rave reviews. I now have a herringbone backsplash, tile floors, recessed and pendant lighting and a beautiful granite countertop - all of it while staying close to my budget. I would definitely recommend Cyrus Construction for future remodeling needs.

Cyrus did a wonderful job of turning my unfinished basement into a beautiful basement apartment. This apartment includes 2 bedrooms, one and a half baths, full kitchen, laundry room, living room and dinette area off the kitchen. In addition, they tore down my old, small wooden deck and put up a big, beautiful composite deck. The quality is the highest, they finished within budget and were pleasant to have around the house. They are hard workers and dedicated to excellent customer service. You won't regret it if you hire them.

I can’t recommend Cyrus Construction enough. They renovated my condo doing a full kitchen and bathroom remodel and modernizing the other spaces. Russell came and talked through the job with me. He offered suggestions and was very open to my requests. The quote was very thorough and easy to understand. The crew was courteous, clean, and responsive to my questions. I was not living on the property during the renovation but stopped by each day to check on the work. The foreman talked me though what was done each day. The work was excellent, progressed at a reasonable pace, and finished in a timely manner. I’m very happy with the finished space and wouldn’t hesitate using them again and recommending them to friends.

Contracted with them to build the rough-in for a new basement bathroom. Project was expected to take 2 weeks. The project actually took 8 weeks, they didn’t use a level when building portions of the new bathtub enclosure AND tried to change our 30” dog shower to a 20” size without bothering to asked permission or tell us. We had terrible communication from the project manager and extremely poor quality work completed. Thank god we found another contractor that could fix all their mistakes. We will never work with them again.

Edit: Pics added. Since posting the reviews, Cyrus Construction offered us $2k for our “somewhat bad experience”. We declined the money and will be keeping the reviews posted.

Russell was great to work with! He understood our budget and worked hard to stay within it, while rebuilding our basement from the floor up. His team completed everything on time and within budget and remained responsive to even the smallest changes.

Helped us with some great choices in materials and came up with some good solutions for a 60 year old basement. Work was somewhat slowed down but that was mostly driven by county permits. Good customer service and helpful construction team.

These guys do solid work. Our project manager, Russell Blake, did an excellent job working with us throughout the process. Russell was understanding and gave us a good discount too. Our kitchen looks beautiful and absolutely stunning. We have received so many compliments from our friends and family. My only recommendation, try to schedule projects during non-busy periods. This will make it easy for the project manager to coordinate activities and complete the project more efficiently. Thanks Russell for making our kitchen look great!

We recently had our basement finished with Cyrus Construction. We started the process almost a year ago with estimates and interviewing contractors. We met with more than 15 contractors before deciding on Cyrus in May 2018. We were very impressed with Russell from the start. We’d ask about a specific for our basement and he would quickly reply with, “So and so did this—let me pull up a picture for you.” He’d find the example he was looking for and show and explain. We were so impressed with his recall of past projects, it gave us the assurance that he would be hands on and on top of the whole project from start to finish. The estimate we got was so detailed we felt like we could see where every penny was going. When you’re spending this amount to renovate something it is a good feeling to know exactly what you’re getting.
We made our selections, and were able to get started at the beginning of July. The people coming in and out of the house to work were friendly, respectful and responsible. They were careful to lay down painters’ cloth as they moved in and out of the house. They left our home clean each night. Even though we were having roughly 1300 sqft finished we did not feel like we were living in a construction site. Whenever they were going to be loud (drilling into concrete etc), turn off water etc they would give us notice so we could plan around it. Our site project manager Nerus was wonderful as well. He and Russell were so responsive by phone or email. We worked closely with them through the whole process and as a result had a very—VERY small punch list of corrections/fixes at the end.
We had our basement turned over to us mid-September 2018. We are thrilled with the way it turned out. The finishes are nice, the workmanship is great. We felt that they really listened to what we wanted in that space and worked hard to deliver and execute that plan. We have a few more renos to do in our house and will not hesitate to hire Cyrus Construction again. From start to finish they were a pleasure to work with!

We looked at several companies but were most impress with Cyrus and their project manager, Russell Blake. Mr. Blake visited the premises multiple times and came up with the best plan to satisfy our needs. The contract he prepared was extremely detailed with regard to the work to be accomplish, the materials to be used, and the exact cost - a big plus that was not typical of other companies we contacted. We have done other major projects in the District and in Bethesda and I would say this one went as smoothly as humanly possible. The crew was terrific. Superb craftsmanship, super friendly, courtesy, and always left the premises clean. The entire job was finished in a timely manner and significantly faster than I had expected. We are super happy with their work and would definitely use this company again.

We hired Cyrus Construction to finish our basement, including creating a recreation area, wet bar, full bathroom, gym, and guest space. We researched several companies and received several quotes before making our decision. Cyrus’ bid was very competitive and the reference we called had nothing but positive things to say, so we took a leap of faith. Russell was our project manager and primary contact and guided us through the entire process. He was fantastic to work with and remained committed to our complete satisfaction throughout the project. He was patient, knowledgeable, stayed in regular communication with us and promptly addressed any questions we had. Our construction crew was extremely professional – they worked very hard, cleaned up each day before leaving, and displayed stellar workmanship. We especially appreciated the attention to detail – they made sure every element – from the fixtures to the built-ins– was picture perfect and flawless. The final result is a BEAUTIFUL basement, and we could not be more pleased. We have received numerous compliments from friends, family and guests. We highly recommend Cyrus and would not hesitate to use them again for other projects.

“I originally found Cyrus Construction on Angie's List when I was looking for bids to compare to a contractor our friends used for a similar renovation. The reviews were great, so I felt good about giving them a call. We ended up choosing Cyrus over the other contractor. From day 1, our project manager, Russell, was awesome to work with. He gave us a very competitive bid for our project, was always available to answer questions, and never chased us down for money or argued with us over pricing. Not to mention, my dogs were actually calm around him, which hardly happens with anyone! We took a little while to kick things off, but once we did, they moved quickly to get everything done. Our lead contractor was Kenny, and he was just incredible. He has over 20 years’ experience in construction, and has a keen eye for detail. He did everything we asked of him, and more! We could tell he really takes a lot of pride in his work, and will stay late or come in on off days to get something done right. I would not hesitate to recommend Cyrus Construction, or to use them again for future projects. In fact, we will likely call them again when it's time to renovate our upstairs bathrooms. One word of advice I would give (and this is probably true with any contractor or huge project like this) is to be sure you understand what exactly is included in the contract price and what isn't. We ended up having a lot of questions about what materials were covered in the contract price and what was strictly labor, since they were sometimes combined on the contract and sometimes not. Prices that we initially thought were for both labor and materials ended up being just labor, so just be sure you ask about every line item whether that price includes materials or not.”

My husband and I relied on Cyrus Construction to remodel our 5 x 8 bathroom in a 1955-built home. Each day the team cleaned up their mess from the gut-job. They laid painters cloth from the front door into the bathroom. The tile selection is beautiful. Great to work with. We will definitely use them again for any upcoming projects.

“Russell was on-time, bright and attentive. He drew up the complete plan for transforming my unfinished basement into a studio apartment with full bathroom and kitchenette. He sent me an electronic copy to review before we met in person at his office. At our meeting he helped me select the materials for my renovation and explained the differences of different price points for cabinetry, flooring, etc. He seemed very knowledgeable about the products his firm represented. We made a few tweaks to the plan right while I was there in the office and Russell said he would send me the revised drawing with estimate before he left for the day (it was already closing time when I left--but he came through, just as promised). I can't proceed right away with my project because my line of credit has expired, but as soon as I get funding lined up, I hope to sign a contract with Cyrus Construction and begin my renovation.”

Russell was very professional and offered a highly detailed, competitively priced proposal for our master bathroom project. He asked very good questions and showed that he has a lot of experience and great ideas and listened and understood our needs and requirements. We ended up going with a different company, but I would highly recommend getting an estimate from Cyrus for your project. Their pricing system makes a lot of sense for people who already have a good idea of what they need and want. But I am sure they would do great design as well.

We had a galley kitchenette area completely demolished and re-built with gorgeous cabinetry, quartz counter top, new sink, and a new faucet at our preschool. Russell was very accommodating and helped us to stay within budget. There were no surprises, and the work was done very quickly and efficiently in time for our new school year in September. We appreciated the 3-D cad design that Russell put together and adjusted based on our unique requirements. We also enjoyed picking out the materials in the showroom in Fairfax. It was a very pleasant experience, and the quality and craftsmanship are definitely shining on this project. We would love to do more projects with Cyrus in the future, and we highly recommend them.

We were very pleased with the work of Cyrus Construction. Russell was great to work with throughout the project. We couldn't afford to do a major remodel of our kitchen but he suggested a small change in the location of the kitchen sink that improved the layout of the kitchen and the useable counter space and it worked out really well. He helped us pick out the new cabinets, countertops, backsplash and paint but the final decisions on what to get were always up to us. Van was our foreman and he was wonderful to work with on a daily basis and is just a really nice person. He does fabulous work, was always willing to talk through everything he was doing, and made sure we were happy with the progress. The whole crew was very professional and worked hard the entire time they were at the house. The project did take longer than expected, although just slightly over the time frame Russell laid out. Part of the delay was the blizzard that shut things down for the best part of a week, but the delay in the delivery of the tiles while the kitchen was already demo'd was pretty frustrating. Once we got the tiles in, however, the crew made progress quickly. Besides the kitchen, Cyrus also insulated and drywalled a laundry room wall that was destroyed by a plumbing leak. After they did the fix, a pipe burst again (on a Sunday, of course). As our regular plumber was not available I called Russell and he sent Van around to cap the pipe so we could have water in the rest of the house again, at no extra charge. That says a lot about the kind of professional and service-oriented company Cyrus is. I did think the allowances for materials was pretty low; it would have been really difficult to find anything to come in at that budget so we ended up paying more than we anticipated, but we are really pleased with the final result. Overall, we were very happy with Cyrus, we would use them again and highly recommend them.

Cyrus Construction - Excellent Remodel of our Kitchen from start to finish! Russell Blake provided us with great ideas with color photos to give us a real idea of the completed project from taking down two walls for an open concept kitchen into our living and dining room. Beautiful cabinets/hardware, flooring and wall tile to choose from in his large showroom. Russell's crew were efficient with removal of all old cabinets, flooring, drywall etc. Left work area each day neat and clean. Excellent workmanship in installing beautiful new cabinets with hardware, ceramic wall and floor tile. In addition we had recessed and pendant lighting installed that was perfectly located to provide the kitchen with an abundance of light to lighting just over the granite countertop for dining to working on my laptop and relaxing. Phone calls and emails were always answered or returned promptly by their friendly and knowledgeable staff.
