We rented a vehicle during our recent stay in St Thomas. The Country Auto Rental & Sales team delivered the Bronco to our hotel and picked it up exactly when promised. Super new and clean vehicle. Customer service was exceptional and pricing was very reasonable. Absolutely recommend.

Both 5 star service and honest. Had a minor issue that Joel and his team resolved immediately. Did not need to be reminded about returning the security deposit. Picked us up from the airport and picked up the car there too. Much better than any commercial car rental company with much more reasonable rates. Can't say enough good things about him and his team.

They r the best . They met us at airport with the bronco . I left my bag leaning against wall and didn’t realize till an hour later. We called the company and the lady that brought us the bronco went back to airport where she picked us up and found my bag which had my computer with 10 years of my Quickbooks on it. I am so appreciative that they cared enough to go out of their way to help me. It’s nice to know there r still company’s that care about their customers . My experience with Country Auto Rental & Sales was deeply concerning and overwhelmingly negative, especially dealing with the owner, Joel. From the outset, there were significant safety issues with the vehicle provided—an EcoSport—which included severely worn tires, a non-functional back left seat belt, and notably poor acceleration.

The tire issues escalated when I encountered a flat tire during my rental period. Joel insisted that the damage was due to me driving over something that cut the tire, and subsequently charged me for its replacement. Unfortunately, the problem persisted; just a day after the tire was replaced, the tire pressure light activated again. I had to interrupt my schedule multiple times to air the tires, only for the light to reappear shortly after each attempt.

Communications with Joel were frustrating and unproductive. He was resistant to providing receipts for the tire replacement and other services, questioned my integrity when I pressed for transparency, and made inappropriate assumptions about language barriers. His responses were defensive and confrontational, lacking the professionalism expected in customer service.

The interaction culminated in a need for legal intervention as Joel refused to address the issues amicably. He maintained that his business practices were faultless and even suggested that any legal action would incur additional costs for me, which seemed more like an intimidation tactic than a professional response.

Overall, my experience with Country Auto Rental & Sales left me with serious concerns about their commitment to vehicle safety and customer service. The lack of proper vehicle maintenance, combined with poor customer interactions, compels me to advise others to steer clear of this rental service!

Have rented from other companies in STT. Country Auto is my new FAVORITE!. Pick-up and drop off were as easy as it gets in STT: both curbside at the airport. Our vehicle was an almost new Ford Bronco, absolutely clean, including tire shine! Will use Country Auto again.

Fantastic experience all around from pickup to drop off. The Ford Escape was in excellent condition and super clean. Affordable price and dependable. Joel was extremely helpful and just a great person. Dude deserves all the love. Would definitely recommend this car rental company and will be using them again if we ever return to St Thomas.

What a great experience! Airport curbside pick up and drop off tailored to your flights. Tons of communication and advanced reminders. The team was a text msg away at any time. We rented a Bronco and the vehicle was in great shape, ran well, zero issues. We love the freedom of having our own car, just Keep Left! Very reasonable rules, treat the car as if it was your own. Ok to take to St John's. No hidden fees or surprises. Straight forward good people. Definitely will rent from them again!

We rented from Joel for 9 days. He met us personally at the airport, made sure we were comfortable with driving on the left side and let us on our way. Vehicle was brand new and extremely clean. He was always responsive and the helpful. Drop off at the airport was just as easy as pick up! Thank you Joel. We will rent again from you next time we are on island.

Joel is the BEST! This was the most seamless rental car process I’ve ever experienced. I called and requested a same-day rental, and they even delivered to our resort free of charge! Joel is so personable and friendly - and he gave us some fantastic travel recommendations. I had an issue with my credit card for the security deposit return, and he responded immediately and was able to resolve it no problem. Honest, reliable, and great communication - highly recommend!

(Previous reviews mention the additional charge for sand - and these are posted everywhere in the car and agreement. My advice to avoid the fee is to simply spend $2 at the car wash vacuum to clear out any sand before returning )

This is my second time renting car from this company. Despite returning car in same condition this time company tried charging me $350 dollars for “ Excessive sand”. Worth mentioning signs posted inside the car “minimum $60 sand cleaning” and “$350 excessive sand”. However, Both times I asked rep who brings the car to the airport what does “Excessive sand” means, they told me it means when sand is the top of panels and all over the car.
Despite returning the car free of garbage and no sand on panels or seats
2 days later I received message with pictures (attached bellow) notifying me about the fine.
Also, worth mentioning this time car had low quality floor mats that don’t give much protection, especially on the back (see pictures)

I found $350 dollars ridiculous amount for car vacuuming. However, Joel explained that this is more of a fine (punishment) and not cleaning charge. I Added one star for Joel being responsive and always answering phone. He agreed to reduce the fine to $200 dollars for vacuuming sand, which I still think is kind of ridiculous.

Terrible experience after previously liking this company. I hit a pothole and got a flat which I understand was on me. The car had no spare. I called the office, text, emailed and called roadside to finally receive a response. I was told I would need to take the car to a tire shop to buy a new tire. (Far from normal) but fine. We then wait 2 hrs on the side of the road and a Country employee comes by, not to offer any help though, just to say she didn’t realize we were still waiting though we’d just spoken on the phone. She then sat in another car behind ours. Didn’t offer to take the car herself or another rental. At this point it was 1hr past our initial drop off time. I told her after I get the new tire I’d still need to run 1 errand and she told me that I would need to return the car immediately and she could rent me another car for another day at full cost. By the time the tow finally came it had been over 3.5hrs while she just sat in a car behind us. We took it to a shop and she followed us there. Then we waited for the tire and gased up. We spent over 5hrs in total. I asked what would happen if we needed to get to the airport and they had no solution. Joel offered no solution in follow up and passed the blame onto roadside. I don’t understand why they even rent out a car that’s not equipped with a spare. I have gotten flats on other islands and have never been held responsible to get it repaired myself. This was a terrible interaction all the way around. I held off on leaving a bad review in hopes Joel would be more helpful.

Booking with Country Auto was a breeze! I began receiving communication days before our trip to coordinate pick up from the airport. Jaquan picked us up at the Airport in a new Ford Bronco. He pulled over in an open lot for a super quick inspection, paperwork signing, and some driving tips for getting around the island. When returning, we met in the same lot and was dropped off at the airport without any issues. I will definitely use Country Auto for future visits!

Joel and his team at Country Auto Rentals are absolutely amazing ! All around 5 stars for their amazing service on time delivery and customer service. We arrived in St. Thomas in July and was met at the airport with the 4-door Jeep as promised. Very clean and beautiful ride to drive on the island ️ of St. Thomas and St. John. If you come to Virgin Islands renting a car from these guys is a absolute must to enjoy the amazing sights and natural beauty on the island. Trust me when I say you want be disappointed with Joel and his team at Country Auto of St. Thomas !

I rented a Jeep Wrangler for the week in St Thomas. What a great experience! I was able to pick up and drop off curbside at the airport, all coordinated through my mobile phone. Super clean vehicle. I would rent again 100 times from Country Auto.

We rented a car from these guys while on vacation in St Thomas. Everyone we dealt with was so nice and accommodating. The car itself was immaculately clean and spotless. They met us at the airport and helped load our bags then took us to a spot just down the street to look at the car and sign the paperwork. They were very clear about their expectations regarding the care of the car and keeping it clean while we had it. They hold a $350 deposit in case of damage or excessive cleanliness issues so they expect you to keep it clean. We did that and took great care of the car so we had no issues getting our deposit back. Highly recommend.

We used this rental service for 1 day and recommend it. Car was spotless & clean when delivered to our hotel. We took the ferry barge to Saint John and spent the day exploring. We took care to keep sand out of the interior of the car. (There are many reminders posted on the car interior about the steep cost for cleaning up sand after use.) A $350 deposit was charged to our card, but once returned & inspected - was refunded within 5 days. For us, this was easy and far better than relying on the safari/truck transportation offered on St John.

This company takes customer service to the highest level; we have used them on both of our trips to St. Thomas. If you are headed to St. Thomas, or St. John (by car ferry) - get a taxi to your place of stay; then they will bring you your car, after your trip is over they will meet you at the airport. Super responsive and personable!

This was the best rental experience we have ever had. Joel went out of his way to find us a vehicle for the busy Christmas week. We were met right at the curb when we got off our flight and met at the curb for our departure. The Bronco Sport was very new and in great shape. What a great experience and good price for renting 2 Broncos to tour the island. Both drove great and was very helpful saving us $$ vs taxi to each stop. Joel and Che were great with communications, dropped off and picked up from our hotel, and quickly credited back our deposits. They are on the East side of the island and do airport drop offs and pick ups, so if searching google maps, look East for them.

Joel is the MAN!!!!! We arrive late from our flight to Saint Thomas for a cool bae-cation. We knew we needed to rent a vehicle but we were exhausted from our traveling schedule. Our bed and breakfast host picked us up from the airport for a small fee. She gave us Joel's number at Country Auto Rental. Joel delivered the rental right to our bed and breakfast location. He said we could ask him anything about having fun on the island. He suggested other great sites to see and visit. Joel has excellent customer service and he is a very knowledgeable guy. We rented a Ford bronco 2 door. It handled the roads with ease. Great job Joel at Country Auto Rental.

Used this company when we visited St. Thomas last week. Loved the convenience of them picking you Up at the airport when you land and they also meet you at the airport for the rental drop off. Renting at Country Auto Rental & Sales was the BEST experience! We called the day we got to St. Thomas and within a few hours we had our SUV. We ended up staying a few extra days and were provided with another vehicle that we LOVED. They were extremely timely and so friendly! We had a great experience with Country Auto Rental! They were very friendly and easy to book with. Pickup at the airport was seamless and they worked with us when our flight was delayed to make sure everything was smooth with the car. The car was very clean and well maintained and we didn’t have any problems at all! Our security deposit was returned promptly and when we had issues with our bank receiving it they helped by sending receipts of deposit. Great customer service! All of the signage in the car about reminders were helpful but the excessive signage about sand made us nervous since we wanted to see all of the beaches and sand was so abundant on the island. We borrowed a friend’s shop vac and cleaned the car out really well but if we didn’t have that I don’t know what we would’ve done! I’m sure they could’ve helped us find a vacuum on the island but it still made it a little bit stressful! Other than that, we had zero issues! Great car and company! BEST CAR RENTAL IN USVI! The process prior to arriving was seamless. They kept in touch with me via email and answered my questions promptly and explained the process upon arrival every step of the way. A very pleasant female, (sorry can not remember her name) picked us up at STT Airport for the transaction. Same great experience upon return, we took the car ferry over to STJ and she met us as we got off without issue.

I ran across their site when some of the more well known companies had their vehicles already booked. Their rental process was super easy from booking, to picking up the car at the airport, and dropping it off again. They were fast responders with any questions or concerns I had with my rental. I would highly recommend them for your rental!

Everything went well. Just don't plan on getting your $200 deposit back. They met us at the ferry with the vehicle and asked what time we would have it back. We agreedupon a time and everything was fine. A month after we returned the vehicle and 3 times of calling (being told during each call, they would get the return processed) they gave me the excuse we didn't return the vehicle in time. Even thought it was 3 hours earlier than the agreed upon return time. We even cleaned the vehicle. Good service. Just plan on the upcharge.

We visited USVI in early March 2022 and rented a vehicle from Joel/Country Auto Rental. We couldn't be happier with the process and customer service! The drop-off and pick-up was seamless. Joel and his team were responsive, knowledgeable, and very helpful. Fairly priced but most importantly there were no delays or conflicts (compared to some of the "horror" stories we heard from other travelers regarding airport vendors). They made our trip that much more memorable! We will be back again and will surely rent another vehicle from Country Auto and we suggest y'all do the same. Remember stay left and look right!!

There are rules about returning the vehicles with sand in them, so we did stop to vacuum the car at Pristine Car Wash before turning it in. I would recommend doing this, and being sure to return the vehicle with a full tank.

If I could give ten stars out of 5, I would. Joel arrived exactly on time with a spotless clean car, made sure I knew every detail about it, confirmed my return time, and helped me get situated. During the week, he called to check on me, and subtly suggested that I was currently parked incorrectly (he was right.) On return day, his team met me at the airport, and took the car back in 2 minutes. In 30 years of business and personal travel (and a lot of bad rental car stories,) I have never had such a positive experience. Thanks Joel!

I've rented plenty of times with various rental companies and none of them compare to the excellent experience I've had with Country Auto Rental & Sales. It began with my search to get a Jeep in the USVI. We were traveling as a couple and only needed a 2 door Jeep. Country Car rentals & other rentals in St. Thomas were booked out of 2 door Jeeps. My conversation with Joel ( Owner ) was quite pleasant and he asked how many were in my party? After stating why I need a Jeep and was looking for a 2 door instead of a 4 door, he was happy to provide me the 4 door Jeep for a 2 door Jeep rental price. Very courteous and detailed in explaining the rental process. This was just the beginning of a wonderful experience.
3 days prior to the travel, I received a call to confirm my time of arrival, destination, documents for the rental and payment. At the time of arrival, I was received at my destination ( Arrived at Blyden Terminal not the airport ) with the car a few feet from me. It was a brand new Jeep , well kept and a beautiful color. We did a quick walkthrough of the Jeep, gave some signatures and I was off. I had no issues with car and it performed great when we took it over to St John for a day during our trip.
At the day of the drop off, I called Joel and told him I was running late and asked to push the drop off by 30 mins. He was very understanding and the best part, just like the pick up, I could drop off the car to one of the Country Auto Rental & Sales employee at the departure terminal ( at the airport ). I did not have to wait in line, give the same old information during my vacation time, get the key and go find the car in a parking lot, wait to exit the lot, add extra time on my way back to return the car and take a shuttle.
Their customer service was customer centric in a true sense. If they were across the main land, I would use their service every time.

This has been the BEST experience I’ve ever had with renting a car. We called a couple weeks before our trip to St. Thomas and spoke with Joel. He provided additional car options and coordinated our drop off and pickup to and from the airport. They even provided us some safety tips for driving on the left side since it was our first time driving on the left side of the road.

We wanted a Jeep but we compromised on the Ford Escape which was perfect!

Second time renting from Country Auto. Cars are new and in great shape. Joel is great to work with. We got a flat and he showed up immediately and fixed it. Very flexible on rental and drop off. We’re coming back in June and will definitely rent from him again.

Very friendly and convenient service. Country Auto Rental picked me up at my condo and drove me back to their office to complete the car rental paperwork. When we returned the vehicle 2 days later they drove us to to ferry terminal and dropped us off for a fee of course, but much easier and cheaper than a taxi. We would certainly rent from Country Auto Rental again next time we are in St Thomas.

Excellent service and very helpful, professional crew. On the day we initially rented our vehicle (a brand new 2021 exceptionally nice Bronco Sport) the rental vehicle was not quite ready as it was being detailed from the last rental. The staff graciously came to the ferry dock where we were, picked up all of our luggage so we did not have to carry it around, and later came to pick us up where we were shopping in downtown Charlotte Amalie. They exceeded our expectations and we will certainly use them when we vacation again in St. Thomas.

Very pleased with this service! Just rented a brand new wrangler. Joel himself ended up driving my girlfriend and I after we dropped off our rental. Just got back from a week on the island. We rented a new Bronco from Country and it was great. They picked us up at the airport and then met us there at the end of our trip - which was very convenient. Great communication before, during and after with quick responses to questions while we were there. Definitely recommend.

I had a great experience with Country Auto Rental and Sales. Before arriving they contacted me asking when I land and had someone at the airport waiting upon our arrival. The vehicle came as promised it was new and clean. Every person that i spoke with during the whole process were very helpful and nice. I had a great experience renting from Country Auto Rental. Joel was honest and a pleasure to deal with, they picked us up from the airport and met us at the airport on the way back. They were very well priced and unlike many of the other car rentals, who make you return the car in the morning regardless of what time you pick up the car, they allowed me to return at the same time that I picked up the car, so that saved me from unnecessarily paying an extra day of a rental.

If you need a vehicle while visiting ST. Thomas, then this is your place. Excellent customer service. They respond to emails, text messages and phone calls. Joel the owner made the whole process effortless. Sure like others they ask for a security deposit. The day after returning the car (Ford Escape) they called to let me know the deposit was refunded. They dropped off the car at the location I was staying. ( a tip worthy service.) And. they picked up when I was finished with the car. Stateside I am in the hospitality business. On the Island Country Auto Rental is simply the best.

Joel at Country Auto Rental and Sales was very accommodating over the recent busy holiday season and honest enough to issue me credit for some days we returned our 2 cars a day early due schedule change. His staff are also very nice.

I reached out to County Auto while I was already in the USVI due to an urgent need for a rental car. I called them around 9:30pm. They picked up and helped me immediately. They understood my situation and gave me a very reasonable price for a nice rental car. I was impressed. In addition on my way to the airport, they had someone waiting for me so I just handed them the keys and walked into the airport. Very impressed with how they do business and how they communicate with their customers. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a rental car in the USVI.

Great car rental service in St thomas. We rented a fairly new 2021 Ford explorer for 7 passengers for 1 week. Pick up and drop off at the actual airport by their team so no waiting in line for the other general car rental companies. No issues with the car. Very clean when we picked it up. Cheaper than many other rentals on the island. Would recommend!

These guys are amazing. The best customer service I’ve had renting a car and I travel a lot… arranged for pickup at the ferry and drop off the next day at the airport, truly above and beyond. Car was clean and nice, great communication, wish all service companies performed like this!

Excellent service and communication with Joel and the staff at Country Auto Rentals. They picked us up at the airport with the car that was promised, completed the rental forms at the nearby cellphone lot and away we went. We had no problem extending our rental for a few days when needed.

I rented a Ford Escape from County Auto over the Christmas holiday week. Rental cars were almost impossible to find but Joel came through for me and my family. Not only was the car available, the service and communication was great. They arranged pickup at the airport and drop off at the end. I highly recommend using them. Fair price and excellent service.

Joel was SO awesome to deal with from the 1st time I called to get a quote, find availability and pick a type of vehicle. He stopped what he was doing and helped me right away. He made you feel as if you were important and his customer service is above and beyond expectation!!! He picked us up at the airport and we were scheduled to take the ferry back from St. John(where we were staying) the morning of our flight and he again would meet us at the airport to get his vehicle. Well morning of our departure the ferry company chartered out a few of their ferry’s without any notice. So the morning ferry’s were not running anything before 11:30 and we then went to get on our ferry, to find out the 1st ferry was about 40 mins to late for us to catch our flight!! SO ALWAYS CHECK WITH THE FERRY COMPANY IF THEYRE ACTUALLY RUNNING THE DAY YOU NEED THEM. (We didn’t know that was a thing. Thought a schedule was a schedule. Lol, not on island time). But anyway Joel again helped us out and came to our rescue so we didn’t miss our flight!! He made sure that we were over to our flight and he helped get our vehicle over! Ya know, most companies will tell you that your emergency isn’t their problem…Not Joel , his employees and Country Auto rental!! I would’ve especially thought that they’d say that on the island being a laid back place…he helps you and makes sure everything is a great experience from arrival to departure! I will use him again! Great service, the vehicle was spotless, in great shape, all but new, and he was an honest,pleasant man & so we’re his employees pleasant!
