Called probably 30 times in 2 months to get wires removed from the side of my property so I can finish demolition. Ive been told 6 times that someone would be by same day. This is ridiculous, and I'm close to cutting the wires myself and leaving them hanging in the street.

There needs to be government oversight of a company like this. Really difficult to talk to someone, the automatic phone system hung up on my 2x despite providing the account number and pin. Once you do talk to someone they are very limited in what they can do.

A phone has not been operational for 3 months, someone calling them everyday from a neighbors phone still won’t get the company out there.

Absolutely the worst customer service and support. If you call them, they often cant find your account, they provide zero support through their 24/7 tech support line, and it takes days to weeks for someone to come out and actually fix your problem. If your internet goes down and they tell you they flag your ticket as urgent, they might be out in 3 to 5 days at which point the tech will tell you he has been in the area every day that week but no one told him you had an issue. If a manager says they will call you back when you have an issue, they are lying and wont. They transfer you from one person to another and hang up on you. If we had any other options for service we would use them. Over priced for something that rarely works and offers the lowest speeds available.

We have had issues with the router for the past 6 months. 6 months of calling asking for a technician, asking for a new router. They refuse to send a technician out and refuse to let us pick one up. paying 120$ a month for wifi that doesn’t work more than half the time. This place is horrible.

My line keeps getting disconnected every time they add a new customer in my area. Customer support is overseas. Very scripted very hard to work with and very hard to get timely resolve. Notes are clearly not shared or stored. If they had a more local call center and better notes and communication internally they would be five stars hands-down.

The worst of the worst. I tried for *weeks* to have internet installed at a family member's property. A constant run around with absolute abysmal communication. Rude customer service. The front end never knows what the back end is doing so they're constantly calling dispatch. Beyond useless. We opted against using them. If you have another option go with it. I'm certain this company is still standing because of government subsidies to rural customers, of whom CC is a primary vendor of choice.

Worst service I have ever had .
service is out more than I have it .
I got a line hanging down on the ground they neglect to fix it I told them my grandchildren play out there they still won't come fix it so as soon as one of my grandchildren get hurt by that line either running into it or fall on the ground due to this wire then I am suing consolidated communications I've reported this several times and they neglect to fix it is

READ THIS REVIEW
It's easily the worst ISP in the state of Maine. They have a monopoly everywhere, offering a network connection that may work maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Paired with the highest latency and packet loss rates above anyone else, and I'm in a seriously rural area too. Don't expect to be able to game, stream SD QUALITY video (about the same as public tv, <480p res), or browse basic sites like Facebook consistently.

So please, if there's other options in your area, select them. Especially if it's some kind of fiber, either through Fidium or Spectrum. Even considering an unlimited data plan with a mobile hotspot would be better than Consolodated Comm.

How can you stay in business ???
I've been without internet since lunch 2nd call and all they can say is WE DONT KNOW what the problem is and work orders go out the next day really that's just to check area not my house once area has been checked then they they have to make an appointment as soon as they can which definitely won't be tomorrow to come to my home the last time i was with no internet it was over 2 months and never got any reimbursement for lost time not happy I've got no phone t.v. or internet quite boring time coming for me thanks cci

Horrible horrible internet. Slow, laggy. If someone wants to play a video game no one can watch tv or use their phones. Then it goes out completely and you’re told someone will come the next day. No one comes so you call and are told oh they’ll be out this weekend (it’s Thursday). Thanks for letting me know as I’ve been sitting here for 8 hours waiting. I am so incredibly frustrated. I want to change but options are so limited. And I’m not even in a rural area. I don’t understand why this is so difficult.

Took a month to get startup service at my house with frequent phone calls to get them to set it up, they then tried to overcharge me and bill me for a modem I never received. Service is always in and out and to get it fixed takes multiple phone calls and missed days from work.

While I'm not a consolidated customer I called because an unused phone line was resting on the roof of my house. The young lady I spoke to gave me a job number to follow up if needed.
A few days later a technician arrived and removed the cable with a smile.

Honestly they don't even deserve a 1. What a pathetic service they have. I have had them for a year and maybe have had a month of internet and now they was to offer fiber what a joke do better. Just do better u know the issue yet u never fix the wires

I wish I had the option to leave a 0 star review. This company is truly awful. My internet goes in and out every single day. I need to constantly unplug and reboot the router. The router died a few days ago (after mere months of use) and it took 6 DAYS TO GET SOMEONE OUT HERE TO FIX IT. I need internet for work. No one in customer service seemed to know anything... they couldn't tell me when a tech would show up. When a tech did eventually show up without notice, I was out of the house and they left a notice on my door saying they needed "access to my house" to fix the problem. It then took another 3 days of calling customer service dozens of times to get someone out here and again, someone showed up without notice. Out of sheer luck I happened to be home to let the guy in. Replaced the router and an hour later the internet is going in and out again. I would urge anybody looking to internet service to AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE. TERRIBLE COMPANY, AWFUL INTERNET SERVICE, AND TRULY INSULTING CUSTOMER SERVICE.

96hrs hours of not being able to access my driveway due to a downed cable line - unable to get our trash picked up, or our 1/2 mile driveway plowed, and unable to receive mail. Had to walk my infant home from the busy road we live on in 17degree weather down our icy/snow covered driveway - in the dark.. What a terrible, absolutely worthless, scam of a company.

Would give negative stars if possible.

Absolutely the worst service provider. Many people in our area of northern Maine are experiencing multiple problems with Consolidated Communications. Poor service, dropped internet multiple times a day, no response for service techs to fix issues. There are two neighbors who have been out of internet service for over two weeks with no response for Consolidated other than the ticket has been logged. It should not be legal to charge for a service you cannot provide. They are the only provider in our area. How can the children during these difficult time manage their school work? I have lodged a complaint with the BBB and Consumer complaints with the AG of Maine.

We set up internet prior to moving into our new house. They couldn't send someone out for 10 days (after our move in date). The day before they were supposed to come out, they called and said their pole is now full and we can't get internet. Now my kids can't do their online learning and I can't complete my Masters. This was our only internet option. The previous owner still had their wireless set up until 3 days before they were supposed to come out, so they must have given someone else our spot. I called and their customer support rep didn't even care.

We pay for 20Mbps, it's the one and only option for us. We have been getting 0.02-0.5 Mbps for almost a month now.

They don't give what they promise. We have been paying them 40 bucks a month for internet that just doesn't function.

They don't repair their infrastructure, and they don't care that it doesn't work.

We've been calling them day after day and I haven't seen anyone. They say that they'll "send someone over tomorrow afternoon" and nothing changes.

My phone connects through the internet. My husband is a school teacher that needs the internet to teach. We've been having to drive to the parking lots of random fast food places to make appointments, send emails, and for him to teach his classes.

Over the past year that we've had this provider, the internet has only worked as promised for three months. Those months being the dead of winter when this town's population drops to less than half of the summer population.

They know they can get those automatic payments from people who don't know they can get a refund, so they don't bother buying the equipment, or hiring the people required to repair/update anything.

If there isn't a lawsuit against them for not providing the services promised, while taking the money, there should be.

Very slow speed, we were told we would be getting a speed of 12. We would gets speeds of 0.3! Reps would tell us that our speed was fixed remotely, not true. Reps would tell us that for our problems they would take money off the bill, not true. We had two appointments for service and the technician never showed up. I’m at a loss here to figure out a way to get what I’m paying for. You can bet that if I didn’t pay my bill I would be getting never ending calls to make a payment. Here is a great idea, customer service!! I can send the definition of that term if you haven’t heard of it.

The internet from this place is awful. The customer service is terrible. You can’t schedule an appointment, they just tell you what day they’ll be there. If you’re working, they show up anyway and then say the ticket is cleared. I have had to cancel work calls and more due to unusable internet.

Our internet is hit or miss all the time. Has been so slow it wont run two iphones and a laptop simultaneously. Called in for help and the service agent (Merck) was super apathetic to our needs, wouldn't explain what he was working on, so I'd sit there waiting for him to do whatever it was he was doing. Wound up submitting a support ticket and when I asked him for some examples of what might be going on, he literally hung up on me. Monopolies such. They always do.

We lost internet one week ago and a tech has not even come to fix it. We have been bullied and harassed and given false information. We have spent an entire day waiting only to call back and be told that out apt has been rescheduled to the next day. It has been a true nightmare and they absolutely do not care. Do not use their services

The service is unreliable and the customer support is worse than any other internet service I’ve dealt with. The technical support line cannot communicate with the service technicians or customer service, so you frequently have to sit on hold to talk to another department. They change or cancel appointments without calling and the have cleared trouble tickets without ever showing up.

Overall satisfied, only reason I gave 4 stars is you'll occasionally get that one person who just don't like there job and sounds crabby on the phone.

Literally the only option unless I make the switch to satellite (which I think will be happening!). The modem they sold me turns off by itself regularly, and if theres the slightest bit of snow or wind (snow... In VERMONT!) service drops. I had a tech come out to inspect the wiring etc and while he was a super nice and helpful guy, he said bluntly I'm too far from the source to even get the service they offered me and he was surprised I got anything. When I brought this up with customer service they just said everything seems fine on their end!

On hold for over a half hour from 6:30 a.m.. Finally hung up and called back and put on hold again. Finally hung up, called around 8:30 and was told "due to high call volume, we cannot take your call. Please try again later" at which they terminated the call.

I got a new modem from them 2 years ago which has never worked right, different make from before. Obviously it's not working now but I can't even reach them to get a new one.

Fairpoint was okay, Conolidated is horrible. This is not the first time I've had problems. Until I find another provider, it won't be the last.

Called because my internet was down. Sat on hold for 30 minutes, someone answered took all my information and then said, "I think you've got the wrong department". And now here I sit on hold again.
Non stop outages and issues through this company, unfortunately I have no other choice but to use them.

I just had this internet service installed and had some "new customer" issues. I have never been more satisfied after speaking with a rep from a utility and I think we will have a long enjoyable internet service with them. Hughes net was a nightmare!

Been trying for three days now to set up an account for a home that I am buy that Consolidated Communications has serviced in the past for the prior owner and all I get is transferred and wait times.
I have have probably waited a total of 5 hours.
Just can not figure this out about this company and why it is so complicated to get information or service through them.
Makes me question their reliability.

If you can avoid them, do so. Unreliable internet. You can call until you're blue in the face and none of the solutions they try are permanent. Been several months of trying to get reliable internet and they haven't sent a tech once. If there was any other provider we would switch in a heartbeat. The people I talk with are friendly, just seems like poor set up and dysfunctional infrastructure.

I have been a customer for 7 years I call in to see if there is a discount for being with them so long in good standing I pay $87 a month and they tell me $10 off the bill but with a year contract and if I cancel and wait 3 months with no service then start up a new contract I can pay $45 a month. Hummmm...... I don't understand how they think any of that makes sense and how they think treating loyal customers and not offering them better discounts will make us stay. Non the less I am cancelling my service if they don't appreciate their customers I don't feel like they deserve my services

Don't bother with consolidated, there service simply doesn't work for me during bushiness hours. I live 50 miles from work, when my kids are sick I need to work from home and almost without fail the connection drops just around 8am and is sporadic at best. Currently I am forced to use my cell phone as a hot spot as I write this. Consolidated's remedy send yet another technician to my home to play with things that doesn't really resolve the issue. This is my second home with the same issue. I am calling better business bureau today and going to stop paying my bill.

Paid for the faster speeds as I like to game, and am almost always down (or such slow speeds I might as well be down). Have had techs come check everything inside and out and claim there are no problems, yet STILL almost never connected. Tech has been nice to us at least, but getting sick of it all.

Update - After all those months and wasted time, the last tech to come out tells us we''re too far from the office to be able to get the speed we'd been paying for. Got reduced, and aside from once or twice a week briefly going down it seems to be okay. Hopefully something can be done about all the extra money we were paying for service we couldn't use.

I have three phone lines, three different houses.
house 1: local and long distance, caller id, waiting and call back , internet service $76/month
house 2: local service only internet $64/month
house 3: local service only internet $78/month

Can I get house 3 on the $64/ month rate?... No, but I can increase to $78 so they are the same... WHAT?
Differences are due to promotions..they say
When are there promotions? ..Please call in and ask.
Should I call each day? ...No, call every 6months
Do you advertise or let your customers know when there is a promotion? ..No, that would be invading their privacy, we would have to look at their account, and Consolidated can't do that without having the customer on the phone.
I wonder how we get billed then?
Very frustrating...no wonder they only are rated 1 star.
I do have to say the repair people are wonderful tho...had to have them 3 times on my new line. My second star is for the repair guys.

Had a contractor come out to put new upgraded modem in, left wires hanging out of tel jack box, leaves and I have now no tel service, this is 2 days ago, still no service, and when I call, which is 3 times today with no issues resolved the phone gets hung up saying call ended. So sick of this company.

This company is the worst phone company I have ever seen. It took me 2 months to finally get an appointment, because they were trying to tell me that there was no service available where I live. That was not true to say the least. Then when I finally got an order number, telling me that a technician would be coming to add service, between 8 am to 12 pm, they never showed. I call Consolidated, and the Customer Service Agent tells me that there was no technician assigned to my order. So now I have wasted a day for nothing. Just may report them to the BBB.

About a week(ish) ago, the internet was out for a good portion of the day. Ever since then, the service has been coming in and out all the time! I’m constantly turning my router on and off and it’s driving me absolutely insane! What the heck is going on over there? Seriously.

This company provides service with constant dropping of calls, static on the line, voicemails do not come in, and constantly tells you that it is another departments responsibility to deal with the issue. They transfer you to another department, who then directs you back to the first. With no one EVER actually fixing the problem.

Wish I could give a zero. After waiting all day, I got a voice mail that they were not coming for an install that was scheduled 2 weeks ago. This company has no idea about customer service and doesn't care that they made me miss a day of work and aren't going to come out for 3 more days.

If I could subtract stars from this company I would. This is easily the worst ISP in existence. CC took Fairpoint and somehow made it even less reliable, more expensive, and seemingly told its customer service to get even more clueless. This is the prime reason no one wants to live in Vermont and why companies should be forced to advance their technologies rather than scamming customers out of their money by providing essentially nothing... How is it okay that my internet goes down multiple times a day, every single day? Seriously, if you have any other choice, DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS A VIABLE INTERNET SOLUTION.

Absolutely terrible service only reason I still have them is because I'm forced to where I live, otherwise it's nothing, and they know that, so their customer service representatives are complete *SSHOLES. I can't believe I just wrote that, but it needs to be said, not to mention DAILY I have to unplug my box for 30 seconds at a time a minimum of twice a day, even my two young children know to go to the wifi box and unplug it for said time because it never works. Terrible company, terrible humans, I wish there was an option to do a minus -5 star because that's what they'd get. Shame on the whole company.
