Right when we walked in the door we were greated and asked if we needed help. All we had to say was that we were looking to replace our mailbox and Frank immediately jumped to help us. He showed us all the boxes, posts, and discussed pros and cons of different materials. He found us some bolts and took the new mailbox out of the box just to make sure everything fit nicely. To top it off, he cut the materials down to size for us without even being asked. Great customer service!

I recommend! This place has a wide variety of materials and competitively priced. I used their free reliable delivery a number of times and they are going to be my first choice for construction materials in the area. Thank you!

I am absolutely satisfied with my visit to City lumber they had everything I needed and they treated me as if I was a big

Bought marine grade plywood for huge $$$.
It is coming apart and after paying a marine surveyor to inspect it...it is NOT MARINE GRADE AND the mill it came from is shut down.
I was refused a veteran discount and insulted for asking then find out they ripped me off!!!
Terrible company.....TERRIBLE!

City Lumber has a great selection of tools, hardware, lumber and gardening supplies, I usually get what I need here without having to go out of town. They also will custom cut lumber, for example they cut a 4x8 sheet of marine plywood into 2 pieces so I could handle it more easily. AND they deliver garden supplies around Astoria! Saves me a lot of effort when it is time to mulch the garden. Finally the staff are super helpful and readily available, you don’t have to go hunting around for them…

There is a big warehouse right below the store you can't see it from the street that is where they have all sorts of construction material, hardware, lumber, landscape etc while in the store itself you will find everything you would find in home depot so if you are coming from Portland to work a project at the coast you can buy all you need from this store. On week days they close at 5:30 pm. Friendly and very helpfull customer service, local people are also very nice and friendly.

We special ordered something and when I went to pick it up today the box was absolutely soaked from being left out in the rain. We're talking about something that is designed for inside the house and it specifically says right on the box to NOT expose to exterior elements. If this is how they treat a simple special order, do they treat orders worth thousands of dollars any better? I'm thinking that they wouldn't. I don't want to spend my money and find out the hard way.

This place is my go too, the oldest hardware store in the state, and the employees who also own the place are Soo helpful. I was stressing and the cashier helped me find everything i needed. they are always there to help, i always shop here if I can. Support your neighbors, these guys can help you get the same thing you want but save you money. They know their stuff just ask

Went in to buy materials for a project I was working on and was treated terribly by the staff. Nobody could find what I needed and the people working there were condescending and rude when I asked them questions. I own a contracting company and have worked in seven different states and been to dozens of lumber yards and haven’t dealt with a place like this. Go somewhere else.

City Lumber is great whether you're doing a small project as a homeowner, a large project as a homeowner, or if your contractor. They have an extremely knowledgeable staff. The quality of their Lumber is superb. Even though there is a universal standard for lumber the lumber you choose from there I guarantee will far surpass that junk from that icky Big Box store! You can call ahead make sure they have what you need. You can special order items. Either way you're going to get what you need and you're going to get it fast none of this 2 hours in a big box store just trying to find the one little thing you need. I have stopped purchasing from The Big Box store entirely I don't miss it one tiny little bit!

I purchased Plexiglas on Thursday afternoon & was coming back on Friday morning to pick it up in a truck & construct a sneeze barrier before summer school reopened on Monday. However, even after I reminded the sales person to remove it immediately from the floor, he did not. They had sold it to another customer after I left! It, of course, was unavailable to me when I came to pick it up on Friday morning!

Great selection and you can always find help. Solid staff. Definitely better than the big-box store. They'll deliver small orders which for me is huge.

I support City Lumber for the great knowledgeable staff, longevity/historically. They put monies back into the community. Also, they set you up for success, give you exactly what you need for any home situations.

Needed some rat bait,I think they are the only ones in Astoria that carry that kind of product. Plus they have alot of other household items that you may need. Great service, if you have questions just ask them.

The city lumber folks here in beautiful Astoria are the folks to go to for help, weather you're in the store or at home with a question about the project your working on. They're the crew you want to go to for the local home owner or a building professional. They are certainly the crew to go to ...

Unfortunately they didn't have everything I needed, walked around the entire store for at least 20 mins and still never was greeted or asked if I needed help finding what I was looking for, Been a lot of years since I've been in their store and it will most definitely be a lot more years before I end up returning, can't rate customer service when they have none!

I've been working with Kelley in planning to buy all of my materials for a major renovation project on our beach house - he's been very responsive and easy to work with. They have 100% of what I need in stock, and offered me the best prices around as well. I got quotes from 5 different companies between Portland and Astoria.
I'm picking everything up on Monday morning and will spend the next 2 weeks working, including at least 1 more trip back to City Lumber for plumbing supplies. I'll either update or add a new review once the project is complete. So far, so good. I'm glad I don't have to buy from Homie Depot.

It was great. In and out quickly. Very knowledgeable staff and helping me get things into the car. Will go back again.

Real lumber company , rental services on any tool u might not have but need on occasion, great selection of cedar , tools, have or can get everything you need. Some prices are high.
