Very happy with our decision to hire Chris for our major kitchen remodel. Initially we were very nervous, having never been through a home upgrade before. However, working with Todd put all of our reservations at ease. He was responsive, accommodating, and went out of his way to make sure we were getting what was asked of him. His best decision was to send us Joe Wolf, of Wolf Den Remodeling and Woodworking! Joe was fantastic! Meticulous, detail oriented, talented ... he truly treated the remodel like he was upgrading his own home. Chris Hollon Construction did an amazing job on our bathroom! They had great attention to detail and were super hard workers. Bert was the main guy installing and he was amazing and very professional. Todd and Chris worked behind the scene to get everything ordered and were great as well.

Secondary reply: Since the owner continually edits his responses to make them more appropriate to hide his real colors; I have attached some photos of their work. Which not all bad, but definitely off center and crooked in places. I am unsure how a company can fulfill a contract without it being approved by the county. So if you work with them apparently it is necessary to put in the contract “must be approved by the county”. Also, he berated us any time we had an issue so unsure why we would try to ask him to fix something when he already refused to. Why am did a check this again? Because I hope my review will save other people a huge headache.

Reply: I edited my review for a grammatical mistake and it resubmitted my review- I never meant for it to repost completely. The owner had never originally replied to my post (if he had it would still be attached to this review) and his reply to my post is very similar to our whole experience with this company. If a party is so interested, call the Boone County Building Department and ask them to pull up the permits from this company from 2021/2022. Our permit expired in the spring of 2022 and my husband and I had to ask for a continuation multiple times as we tried to figure it out with the help of the inspector who was very nice to deal with.

This company built our deck 2 years ago and it was not a pleasant experience. They got paid in full when they finished the deck. Unfortunately, the inspector wouldn’t approve the deck as the handrail wasn’t right and they refused to finish it to Boone County’s standards. We eventually finished it ourselves as they never came back.

Todd worked with us on remodeling our bathroom. He was terrific through the whole process: great insights helping us choose vanitiy, tub, etc, ordering and ensuring delivery, and monitoring the process throughout. Dan did the remodeling and did a wonderful job. Such a talented man! Very satisfied and we would highly recommend!

Paul did a excellent job doing a complete remodal on our bathroom.Very professional cleaned up after every day.Todd was very helpful getting everything ordered that we needed and if we had questions he was very responsive about getting back to us.I would highly recomend this company to anyone needing work done.

Replaced our roof. Crew was very efficient and Todd was responsive to our questions. They even replaced some damaged sheathing at no additional cost! Our new roof looks great.

We had an excellent experience with Chris Hollon Construction. Chris was responsive, when we reached out for an estimate to finish our basement and remodel an existing bathroom. He was consultative and offered effective solutions for these projects.

Once the work started, Todd Payne, the company's General Manager coordinated a project walkthrough with Dan and Danny, one of their top crews. Dan and Danny were a pleasure to work with. They were punctual, respectful, and hard working. They were also open to feedback my wife and I had during the project and made several minor adjustments as needed on the fly. Todd as the General Manager oversaw the work and made himself available for a conversation at a moment's notice. He always seemed to be available for a quick chat on progress and answered any questions we had promptly. Todd is a straight shooter and is very focused on delivering a good customer experience.

I would highly recommend working with Chris Hollon Construction. They were a pleasure to work with and we were highly pleased with how everything turned out.

Top notch all the way from start to finish. I asked for a quote to finish my basement and the rest was history. Started the process with Chris who was great to deal with when coming up with I wanted done. Once things got started he passed communication over to Todd. Todd was fantastic at keeping me updated with what was going on. Some people may get frustrated with delays and things of that nature, but with what has happened recently in our country - delays, back orders and things of that nature are just point blank going to happen and that’s no one’s fault. Todd would consistently let me know what he was hearing on things like my floors and cabinets and when they would be in. As I customer I just wanted to know what was going on and where we were in the process - so that was huge to me and I am thankful for that. Their main crew who did basically the entire job - Dan and Danny really are the best of the best. Their work has made my basement a dream come true and a vision come to life. I could not be happier with the outcome and would recommend to anyone. Thank you to the entire CHC crew!

Chris Hollon Construction finished my basement. Todd at CHC is a polite guy. He works for Chris and interfaced with my wife and me after the quotes, drawings, and contracts process was completed with Chris. Once Chris put Todd on our job, he fielded all calls and texts from us in a timely, cordial manner. He is also reasonable about the change order process. If you get a low bid from Chris, you can rest assured Todd will be smart about what he hears from his laborers.

Overall it’s a well-run organization.

I spoke with Todd at Chris Hollon contruction in April 2021 about a project. He gave me his email and asked me to send additional information. I sent an email describing the desired project with several photos and measurements. I did not hear anything back. So in June 2021, I called to make sure he had received my email and see if he needed any additional information. When I spoke with him, he had a rude tone and said I was x out of y (some large number) in line and that he hadn't gotten to me yet. I explained to him that I just wanted confirmation that my email was recieved and I wasn't trying to rush him. Now I understand construction companies are extremely busy. But that doesn't give them an excuse to be rude. He could have politely told me that it would be a while or that they didn't want my project. I supposed the latter was the case because it it now February 2022 and I still haven't heard back either by phone or email.

Do not recommend. We’ve been dealing with this company since the beginning of the year to get our basement finished. We were told they would begin in May but they refused to put any type of timing in a contract. Yes, red flag. Cashed our check then basically never heard from them for months. Then after MANY communication attempts from our end (not theirs ever) they began in SEPTEMBER. Short work days, a few days of the week, and we only have drywall up. Two and a half weeks ago we were told the whole project would be done in two and a half weeks and no one has shown up since. Every day WE have to reach out to see what is going on and every day we are told something that ends up being a false promise. Communication, reliability, and reasonable timing is something you will NOT get from this company. I cannot speak to their quality as of yet unfortunately. We are really easy people, but this experience has been ridiculous enough to share in hopes to give others a heads up. I’ll be happy to update on how the remainder of this project goes.

***Below you will see a response -3 years later. We find it flooring. The attempt to twist our words, furthers the point of this review. Never was it stated in the review the whole project would take two and a half weeks, but at that given point we were told two and a half weeks left. We saved all of our communication so I wonder if this is why you waited 3 years to try to discredit this review? My husband and I communicated about every aspect of your communication together. While email and text communication was done from his phone, we were actually both at the home for the whole renovation. After our very first request for a quote, we only communicated with Chad and Todd throughout the remainder of the experience. I’m not sure who would be able to speak to this review other than them? Especially about communication. I’d also like to know what difficult personal time we were going through? Are you referring to pregnancy as a difficult personal time? I believe the only hard time was on your end. One of the two workers working on our project was going through legal issues at the time work was being done, leaving our contractor, Chad short handed. Chad verbally told us that A****** was “having issues with the law.” When we spoke face to face with the office manager, Todd Payne, we were met with unprofessionalism-screaming at us in our home. He came to our door at the end of the project with a gift card and an apology about the poor experience. However, he did request we remove our review. We appreciated and accepted the apology and the work that was completed. While others may have a good experience with this company, and we sincerely hope they do, we did not, and it is our right to leave a review without it being discredited with false statements years later. With all that said, Chad’s craftsmanship and final product was nice. The process was not, however.

We are very happy with our covered porch addition. They were professional, high quality craftsmanship and swiftly took care of any issues I had. I will use their services for any future projects I have.

My family hired Chris Hollon Construction to remodel our basement. Chris gave us a very competitive quote and was able to get started much quicker than other contractors we had contacted, which was very appreciated. Once construction started the company was very responsive when updates were needed, and Chris had an excellent and personable team that delivered fantastic work within budget. Re-tiling our 70s fireplace was a particularly difficult job, but they figured out a way to make it work. The crew even helped out when my neighbor fell on her sidewalk and needed help getting into her house. Would definitely recommend their services.

After an extensive search for Cincinnati/NKY area contractors, we made the decision to hire Chris Hollon Construction based upon both their price competitiveness, as well as, the exemplary work they completed in our neighborhood. The completed a home addition (covered patio) and exterior painting at our home. Their work exceeded our highest expectations. Chris's ideas were extremely valuable to us in the process.

Extremely pleased with Chris Hollon Construction. I was nervous outsourcing work for the first time in a house. I initially did the framing myself for a basement finishing and realized I was in over my head. Chris came out, pointed out some key pieces, and got me a rough estimate quote right away. We later met at his office and went through the final itemized total and really was a very reasonable price and time line.

All of the workers with Chris were punctual, polite, and did a phenomenal job. Everyone treated the job like it was their own home and the quality showed! Again, I was nervous trying to pick folks after my parents and friends have all had bad experiences of poor work or people taking the money and running. EVERY aspect of the interaction with Chris and his team made me feel comfortable with the process.

Amazing owners and staff! You don't see a lot of businesses anymore that have the "mom & pop" feeling. They make you feel like part of the family

We had them tear down and replace and existing deck. The deck was 30ft x 16ft. I am totally impressed. Excellent carpentry work and craftsmanship. I am a structural engineer and the deck is very solid. We also had a dilemma that was unique to the build. It scared some contractors away when we were first getting quotes. The original deck had the main power line to the house being fed thru 2.5 inch PVC pipe that ran thru 6 of the horizontal joists in order to get to the meter that was underneath the deck. So the dilemma was how do you build a new deck when the power line is in the way of where the new joists would be running horizontally from the house. Chris Hollon's crew went over with us many different solutions around the problem and we came up with one that would be both cost and time effective. I would highly recommend this company to build a deck.

Chris converted our first floor closet into a half bath and re-shingled our roof. He walked us through the whole process - from a clear and quick initial quote, to shopping with us at Home Depot, to finishing both jobs quickly. Available by text, email and phone. We'll hire Hollon Construction again.

We used Chris Hollon to update our restaurant, new bar top, refinished our severely marred hardwood floors and rebuild our patio. I called Chris for my bathroom remodel.... quoted me a very reasonable price. although we didn't end up working together I had a great experience meeting him.. he was honest and transparent about everything. He even helped me figure out other potential projects in my house .. Will definitely contact Chris in the future for any remodeling needs

Original review temporarily edited as a result of the owner's reply, which amounts to nothing more than convenient omissions and claims that are not factual. Hollon's so-called proof is a signed contract and a timeline that only prove what was SUPPOSED to have happened. I've been left to deal with the reality of what actually did happen. I have nothing to hide about our reschedule - our need to do so is a complete non-factor. So what if we re-scheduled for two days later to have them COMPLETE THE JOB that remains UNFINISHED to this day and correct problems we STILL HAVE? That was one of two occasions we needed to do so over the months-long project as compared to the Hollon team's regular habit of hours-late arrivals and no shows. I was texted a definitive time of arrival for the 21st, and no one showed or called. NO mention of "trying". If what Mr. Hollon claims is true, why is it that he completely ignored every attempt I made to have him respond to the no show/no call or my questions about whether or not a no show/no call would be acceptable to him? He offered ZERO response on this issue. He refused to so much as acknowledge it (let alone attempt to defend it) across multiple text exchanges. He knew then and he knows now it wasn't "alleged". Mr. Hollon conveniently omits the fact that the vast majority of communication was between myself and the gentleman that did most of the work (the same gentleman Hollon asked me to direct communication to). So while it's true Mr. Hollon did not make the "drop everythiing" comment, he seems to want to pretend his employees made no representations on behalf of his company. As for the repeated sink leaks and damage caused by his company's negligence, why would I be compelled to discuss the problem with anyone other than the representative doing the work when I had what should've been two very easy problems to fix (which I fixed myself after their third attempt)? The gentleman's status as an independent contractor, which was never shared with us, is ABSOLUTELY IRRELEVANT. It's neither my fault his employee chose to keep him uninformed, nor is it that Hollon did nothing to keep himself informed. I guess Hollon also forgot to mention that the attempts to contact me to fix the problems and finish the job he refers to only came well after I spent A FULL MONTH of having multiple written requests to have the job finished and our problems addressed ignored by his representative. Sure is interesting that it was just a handful of days after I gave up and posted my review that I finally received a reply. Mr. Hollon also conveniently omits the fact that through his attorney, he agreed to our proposal for returning to our home, but never bothered to follow through. The proposal was simply to send us a written note to accept responsibility, apologize for his mistakes and make a commitment to make things right. In return I would remove our reviews. I did speak with a representative of his company we had not previously dealt with after being told by his attorney on 6/14/16 (7 months after the project began) that Hollon accepted our proposal. I let him know I had been contacted by Hollon's representative. His attorney told me he advised Hollon to set up a time to remedy the situation. I let the young man know we were waiting on Hollon's correspondence. Hollon's reference to my comments about church camp ignore the fact that what we were waiting on was his correspondence. When it became obvious Hollon was not going to live up to his word yet again, we gave up for the last time. For the record, the Google review was posted only after the Hollon recently attempted to contest my review on HomeAdvisor. Considering my review was re-posted after evaluating the copious evidence I provided speaks volumes and provides a common-sense indication of who is telling the truth. Mr. Hollon knows full-well how easy it would have been to avoid where we are today. I guess it was just easier to take our money and run.

Chris Hollon's crew put a new roof on our house after roof damage from a storm. They replaced the roof efficiently and with excellent quality. Chris was also very helpful in negotiating with the insurance company. His knowledge of the business and how the "system" works was extremely helpful to me as this was my first time filing a claim with my home insurance. I would definitely recommend Chris Hollon Construction.

Called 30 minutes prior to appointment time to cancel/decline the work I needed done. This appointment was made almost 2 weeks in advance and because his decline was a result of "not having time" he could have notified me upon that realization and not after I'd planned a day around an appointment. Gave an extra star for at least referring to someone else.

Chris Hollon was a pure pleasure to work with on the remodel of our bathroom. From quoting to scheduling to completing the work on schedule and with in budget I could have not asked for a better experience. Also Chris stands 100% behind his work. For any future home project Chris Hollon will be the first company that we will consider.

In the late Winter/early Spring of 2016, we had Chris Hollon Construction remodel both of our upstairs bathrooms (kids and master). The master bath was gutted with design and functionality help needed. Chris and his team were excellent to work with! They had many ideas, kept us in budget, and also ensured we received the look and functions we wanted. The finished product is exactly what I envisioned.

We also added on a carpet installation and stairway renovation to this work and are quite pleased with how everything turned out.

I'm extremely happy with the results of my project. The crew that Chris sent out were awesome. I'd use them again and would highly recommend them. The crew took great care in making sure that everything was cleaned up and orderly each day before they left. One of the guys even helped my elderly mother up the driveway and into the house with her groceries. He saw that she was having some difficulty. I can't thank this crew enough for the job they did and the way that they treated us.

Chris Hollon Construction is the best home improvement company that we've ever used. Chris was a true partner with us -- he had lots of great advice on the most cost efficient improvements to increase the market value of our home. We had several areas of our home that we wanted to improve, and he came to us with a comprehensive proposal to address everything at once at a great price. The project included a new kitchen, bath updates, and several other cosmetic improvements. The true test of a contractor is how they deal with the inevitable problems that come up during a project. We did have a few hiccups along the way and Chris addressed them in a way that exceeded our expectations.
