Horrible communication with the company and their affiliated accounting firm. We as an HVAC company, completed work for this contractor in March 2024 and still have not been paid for services. We have contacted them numerous times and spoken with accounting firm and they have repeatedly ignored our request of full payment.
We hired C&E Contracting to rebuild our indoor pool enclosure, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. Chris, the President and our
main point of contact, led the project from start to finish. The job involved tearing down the old structure and constructing a completely new, upgraded enclosure. It was a complicated project that had to meet strict zoning and building requirements—and we also needed it done on
a tight timeline.
Along the way, several unexpected issues came up that were outside the original scope. Chris handled every challenge with professionalism, patience, and great problem-solving skills. He was easy to work with, always courteous, and genuinely committed to delivering a high-quality result.
The project was completed in a reasonable time frame and passed all city inspections without issue. We’re extremely pleased with the final
outcome and truly enjoyed working with Chris. Highly recommend C&E Contracting for any complex renovation or construction project!
I cannot recommend C&E. They left my home with unsafe, code-violating window framing and showed a complete lack of organization, communication, and care throughout the project.
I hired C&E to replace a deck and some wood siding, and the experience was extremely disappointing.
Throughout the several-month project, communication was poor, timelines were not met, and organization was nonexistent. The owner, Chris Parkhurst, handles all scheduling and ordering himself with no administrative support, leading to constant delays and mistakes. At one point, Chris ordered siding from Georgia, claiming local suppliers didn’t carry it — yet I found it five miles from my home.
Quality of work was another major issue. Chris, having claimed to be a painter previously, insisted that my paint-and-primer product could be used directly on raw wood and in freezing temperatures, despite clear guidance from Sherwin Williams that it was inappropriate. I ultimately hired someone else to finish the painting correctly.
More concerning was the negligent window framing, which was done while Chris himself was on site overseeing and participating in the work. Window studs were spliced and not even connected to the structural support, a major building code violation, as later confirmed by another contractor. Additionally, the siding installed around the window during this time was poorly secured, and Chris personally used the wrong type of nails, contradicting proper building practices. Worse, adequate flashing was not installed at the top or bottom of the window, which meant the newly installed siding had to be removed to prevent future moisture intrusion and wood rot.
There were also problems with the deck railing: posts were not installed correctly, and Chris tried to avoid fixing the issue by telling me how expensive replacement parts would be. After calling the manufacturer myself, I found out individual parts could be easily ordered and another post was wrong as well.
While parts of the deck were generally acceptable, the structural and safety issues, lack of accountability, and overall disregard for quality force me to leave a 1-star review. I would not recommend C&E for any construction work.
