Capital city did a project to repair water damage in our home office after a lengthy wait due to insurance. After meeting with Jeremy, our project manager, we decided to have the upstairs repainted by Capital City. The whole project was first class and even better, was completed while we were on vacation. Jeremy did a great job communicating before during and after the project, going as far as sending pictures of the progress and completion while we were on vacation. Upon return everything was perfect...first rate work and a clean work site. Would highly recommend Capital City for any remediation or remodel work...have already recommended to family members. Our project started out with a hail damage roof claim that was denied by our insurance company. Jeremy at Capital felt we had a legitimate claim and with his expertise, knowledge of Minnesota codes and, most of all, persistence with claim reps who kept denying and/or asking for more information, we were able to get the roof replaced covered in full. The second project was new soffits and facia. Since we were doing the roof, it was decided to update the soffits and facia. Jeremy hired a subcontractor who did an awesome job. We love the new look. The third project was to fix the sagging roof over our garage which we had since we bought the house 40 years ago and was gradually getting worse. Jeremy and his crew carefully examined, discussed with each other and then gave us options to fix, but to do it right it required new trusses which we realized after looking at the poor workmanship of the initial builder. Precision was needed because it was an attached garage. The engineer who measured and remeasured did an awesome job, and Jeremy’s crew did an awesome job of constructing it as close to perfect as we could have hoped. We couldn’t be more happy with how it lined up. The biggest thing throughout this whole project that we appreciated the most was great communication every step of the way, explaining what they were going to do, giving us options to change or upgrade to our desired end project. Our first project with Capital City was updating our staircase. Dave did a tremendous job understanding our vision and then creating a beautiful masterpiece. Our second project was to put new windows in our entire house. We were able to also update all of our exterior doors and still come in lower than many other company's bids. Jeremy was great at helping us decide on the best updates and we absolutely love the finished product. We could not have enjoyed the crew that worked here any more. Jake, Tom, Al, Fernando, and Raffi were very professional, friendly, and attentive to detail. We are already planning our next project with Capital City and cannot wait to work with them again!

I was referred to Jeremy Gerten/Capital City by a friend of a friend. I was pregnant and looking to finish our basement before the baby arrived. Right off the bat, I had a great feeling about Jeremy so we hired them to start when I was 32 weeks pregnant. Everyone on their team and the subcontractors were extremely professional and timely. Jeremy was very communicative about what was happening on each day and everyone always showed up exactly when they were supposed to (this is huge for me). A big thank you to Raphy and Fernando who were wonderful and had amazing attention to detail, Tom and Jake for their problem solving skills framing out the doorway to the rooms (we LOVE how this turned out). Honestly, I couldn’t say enough nice things about this team. They ended up finishing ahead of schedule!! It was so perfect. This was not the first remodel I have done or the first company I have worked with but I will 100% call them for our next project. I truly can’t wait, they made the whole process incredibly smooth. We've hired a couple of different contractors to do work at our home. Sad to say, not all live up to their hype and we have some things we still need to remedy. Fortunately, this time we found the right company.

We were looking to have our countertops and backsplash updated in our dated 1990s' kitchen and bathrooms, and after looking at our options, we chose Chad and his team. They definitely delivered!

The team at Capital City that Jeremy brought to my home for endless projects did an amazing job. It was not a luxurious home renovation project, but rather a running 2 year project that was caused by unknown water damage and multiple levels of my home.

Jeremy ensured his entire team over delivered, treated my home like their own (in a good way), and were respectful while there (including a dealing with a very large crazy dog). They were flexible with their schedules over the course of a very daunting but crucial project in order to finally resolve all.

His team:
Jake - siding/window - replaced, addressed previous mistake from other owners, and spent due diligence on ensuring all issues were resolved.
Raphy - I'm ready to have him come back and redo ALL the trim and paint in my house, excellent job.
Matt - as with all water issues, Matt secured areas that had to be treated for mold, and did it timely and not to disrupt air quality from it beyond that area.
Glen - mudding & taping -- attention to detail and even fixing lazy mistakes of previous owners, and returned multiple times to ensure no issues appearing.
Sub-contractors: As the project continued over time and shifts were needed, Jeremy was able to provide reco's for additional people or willing to be on-site if I brought in someone to consult just to be sure they were capturing all that was needed for that scope.

Jeremy was personable, patient, and someone I could depend on that was going to be there until I was 100% completely happy w/ the completed job.
100% a happy and returning customer in the future. Hopefully this time for more "fun" projects.

In Nov 2023 we had water damage on 2 floors in our home. Capital City Construction came in and helped from Day 1. They helped with dry out and re-construction! Jeremy G. stepped up and took the reins for us, dealing with insurance, vendors and re-construction! We cannot ever “Thank” his team enough!

Capital City just finished renovating our basement in Richfield! They did a great job! The project manager Jeremy Gerten and his crew Tom, Jake and Raphy did an excellent job as well. Chad and his crew did a great job in renovating our kitchen. They were friendly and cared about everything they did for us. Everyone, from his employees to the subcontractors he hired, went above and beyond what we expected. Every time they came to our house to work, they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves even if they were coming back the next day.
When we were looking for a contractor, we obtained 3 bids. Chad's bid was the best bid and I just felt he was the guy to work with. My husband wanted to see the quality of the custom-made cabinets before signing any contract so Chad had us visit another customer's home to look at their cabinets. They were beautiful and we absolutely love ours!
We have had many, many compliments on our kitchen. It makes us smile.
We will be having them do some more work for us and we would recommend them to anyone.

Capital City stepped in to help us out when their competitor made some poor decisions that caused our claim to be delayed for a water leak in our kitchen and basement. Capital City did an excellent job with the repairs, communicated though the whole process with us and the insurance company and completed the repairs in a very timely manner. Fernando did a great job with the painting.

We needed a new custom kitchen island replaced and downstairs ceiling repaired after the dishwasher failed spectacularly. The team from Capital City Construction & Remediation handled everything beautifully. Jeremy, the project manager, coordinated every step of the process making sure we understood all our options. Jeremy was very responsive and on top of all the details. Dave, the cabinet maker, built an incredible new kitchen cabinet including custom door and drawer fronts to match the rest of the kitchen. Glen handled the basement ceiling repair and feathered in the work so well that you could not tell that a 4x4 foot hole had been in the ceiling. Fernando did a great job painting the basement ceiling without disturbing the adjacent walls and cabinets. Frank handled the cabinet stain work, going just slightly lighter on the stain to better match the surrounding cherry as it would darken over time. Travis carefully reinstalled the granite kitchen counter top and sink on the island to match the other counter tops. Dan did a great job plumbing everything, and even relocated the reverse osmosis water filtration system to the basement to reduce the risk of any leaks. Tim, the electrician, professionally installed outlets, switches, and power to the new dishwasher and garbage disposal. It was a great team effort with Jeremy organizing everything, even working directly with the insurance adjuster on estimates. We remodeled our main floor kitchen and flooring with Capital City and couldn't be happier with our experience! Chad was very patient and helpful with us in our decision making and going over costs and project ideas. We got great value and the project was completed on time even with a few setbacks in needing to treat some mold from a previous leak that went undetected underneath the flooring. The team was quick in taking care of the issue affordably and also receptive to taking on some added jobs we requested. After having a pretty nightmare experience with another company on a bathroom remodel, we know how easy it is to get burned with a home improvement project. Chad and his team did a wonderful job on some mold remediation and some remodeling. The communication was tremendous and i was always kept in the loop as to what was happening. Mark's was one of three businesses to show up for estimate on our deck. He was the only one to give a thorough bid, all materials spec'ed, cost, etc. He walked us through design options and didn't lose his mind when I wanted to add lights the day before he ordered materials. We were so pleased with the folks who did the work; before their day ended, all was left in an orderly fashion. They consulted with us along the way to ensure we were happy with the work and didn't balk at my needing to "peek." When the deck was completed Mark first checked in with us, asking if we were totally satisfied with our new deck before he forwarded the final amount due. Was I ever surprised when what I thought was the original estimate was actually the total cost! Nice people. hard workers. efficiently completed and good looking, structurally sound deck. Highly recommended.

The foremost reason I'd recommend Capital City is their responsiveness. Chad gave us an estimate, we got a few others, and were going to choose another contractor for work. I told him this, but also asked if he'd be willing to do part of the job that the other contractor couldn't do. I was really pleased that he said 'yes.' Turns out we used Capital City for the whole job, and what a job it was! Long delays due to winter/spring, as well as figuring out what the heck was going on. Delays and problems are going to happen; how they are managed speaks to what kind of contractors/workers you have, and Chad and his team communicated very well with us. Matt did a lot of the work and we appreciated his care and attention to detail. Highly recommended.

We had mold removal and wall repair done by Halston and Matt. They did an excellent job removing the mold and painting with the anti mold paint. Both of them were very polite and informative. Halston worked very hard on getting the mold removed and painting. We are very pleased with the work done by Capital Remediation.

This is an excellent company to work with, and I would highly recommend. I had black mold behind walls on 2 sides of lower level due to drainage issues. Chad was very responsive and detailed 2 projects that were completed in 2020. Involved mold mitigation, painting, ceramic tile and carpeting replacement throughout most of the lower level. Chad assisted in selecting high quality materials that fit home esthetic while keeping to my budget. Where necessary he brought in experts to address specific expertise. The results were better than I ever expected. Chad remained in contact throughout the project. The work crew leads (Halsten & Matt) were both terrific - prompt, very professional, meticulous and very clean. I am working with Capital City Construction again now to plan a couple work projects on the exterior of my home this spring.

When our sewer backed up and we were desperate to have a service come immediately to clean up the saturated carpet, we were fortunate enough to have Mark and his crew. Additionally, they developed ideas how to improve the areas, offered suggestions on quality remodeling, and products. Chad did a great job fixing up our bathroom after some water damage, a year later, we hired him again to remodel our basement. He helped us get what we needed, working within our budget, and planning ahead to make sure everything was done to code. Most importantly, he understood that this was a big investment for us and that we would see it every day. We had only one slight missunderstanding about some insulation, and Chad didn't hesitate to change it, and make sure we were happy with the results. I would recommend him to anyone.

We have had Capital City do 2 large projects with us over the past 4 years. The most recent that just finished was updating both of our bathrooms and adding patio doors to the house among a few other small projects in the house. It was a pretty extensive project as it involved updating most of the plumbing in our home as well as some changes to floor plan with moving/adding walls and changing HVAC. As we have come to expect they hit a grand slam and exceeded our expectations. Chad has a great crew and they all do great work. I couldn't recommend them enough to anyone looking for a great experience when doing a home project.

Fantastic company to work with. The word "service" has become almost a cliche in the service industry, but not with Capital City. Everyone I worked with whether it was the owner or apprentices, it was clear that they value accountability. The workmanship was also high above average quality. We had plenty of situations in which the original builders screwed up the construction on our house. Capital City's Kurt could have easily put a "band aide" on the debacle, but instead carefully thought through each situation, fixed the problem and went on with the intended renovation making our house stronger than ever before. That is good old fashioned pride in workmanship!

My husband and I had a FANTASTIC experience with Capital City Construction & Remediation. Our first home is a 100-year-old Craftsman that was badly in need of a kitchen remodel and some basement mold remediation. Chad was responsive, enthusiastic, knowledgable and was able to turn a bid around quickly for our mortgage company. His prices were totally fair. I've heard several horror stories about contractors being hard to get ahold of, late, over-budget, careless, etc. Our experience could not have been more opposite. Chad was flexible and easy to contact, responsive (by text!), and all the work was finished on-time and on-budget. When we encountered a few snags (as you do), he had a problem-solving attitude and did the extra work necessary to do the job right or find a solution that would fit within our budget. We trusted him and his people in our home and enjoyed their sense of humor and no-nonsense approach. Something not to be over-looked, he and his team willingly hauled much of our personal trash away for us, which was really stress-relieving and appreciated during our messy move. We will definitely use Chad and his team again and passionately recommend him to anyone looking for a great contractor.

Couldn't be happier. Chad was excellent with communication and made sure exactly what to expect and when. Workers showed up on time, were friendly, and got the work done as asked. The team at Capital City were great to work with not only on our mold remediation project but also helping with other projects at the house. With three young kids it was critical to have the mold issue properly mitigated and Chad and the Capital City team did a fantastic job. I hope we do not have any other mold issues in future houses but if we do - Capital City will be our go to company. They also were super helpful with recommending other vendors in our home remodel project. Definitely recommend Capital City's services - they were reliable, on time, in budget and friendly.

My family had a great experience working with Chad and his crew -- after finding the company on google, first they fixed a mold problem that we uncovered and then second we had them back to repaint that level of our house. Everyone we dealt with was very responsive and professional. I am a perfectionist and they all cared about the details I was looking for. They also were very respectful of my family; during some of the painting days we had a newborn plus a toddler with strep throat underfoot. We hope to remodel our bathrooms next and plan on reaching out to this company again once we're ready to go. Highly recommend!

The quality of work is top notch, the materials used are top notch and they let you personalize everything just how you want and provide great feedback if you want recommendations. I have worked with Chad for the planning of both remodels and he is super patient and offers expert advice on what the new styles are and what items will complement each where you might have overlooked.

The biggest take away besides the quality of work, the promptness and courtesy of his entire crew, is that Capital City never sends someone to the job that you wouldn’t be comfortable having in your home. Letting people in your home all day for weeks or months at a time while no one is home can be unsettling. Chad does an amazing job at hiring and you can tell he values great people who are like minded and genuinely care about their work and your satisfaction.

I highly recommend using Capital City for any house project you have in mind. Super personable and their goal is to make sure you are 100% satisfied.

UPDATE: So pleased to see that after 6 years Capitol City has maintained their 5 star review. Needed Chad and his crew to come back to to the house to replace a walk-out basement double door. The crew was, once again, so professional and courteous. Everyone introduced themselves and explained each step of the work process when they arrived. The work was done in a day and they came back a few days later to match the stain on the trim they couldn't re-use and replace the floor with the LVF that had to be removed. We just can't recommend Capitol City Construction more. Still a true 5-Star company.

ORIGINAL: I was pleased to see all 5 star reviews here because Capital City is absolutely a 5 star company. We had several bids on our basement office that suffered from water damage and mold infiltration. Chad's repair plan was, by far, the most thorough of the lot. One company actually offered to charge us $1500+ to simply remove the drywall! Chad and his crew from Capital City, on the other hand, removed the drywall and then… the carpet, and padding, and baseboards, HEPA scrubbed the room, removed any mold, sealed the inside walls with moisture barrier, filled any cracks, replaced the drywall, baseboards AND carpet and then matched the paint to the room, all the while being fast, friendly, and utterly professional. Like others said, we received several text pics over the days to update us on the progress of the room in live time. We even asked Chad to install a sliding deck door after the mold problem was corrected and he did it in days; even picking up and delivering the door himself. Capital City, Chad, and crew, exceeded our expectations in every way. THANK YOU!
