Jacob and his crew did a GREAT job for us. They tore out our old, very funky deck and built us a new, bigger, beautiful deck in exactly the three working days he predicted it would take. He and his crew were friendly and willing to address our questions and consult about what we wanted while remaining very focused on getting the job done and doing it well. We are very happy with our new bigger and more beautiful deck. The first four photos are of the old funky deck, and the rest are out new, beautiful, bigger and much improved deck.

My recent experience with Burkett Residential was both frustrating and disappointing. I contacted Jacob Burkett via phone and we scheduled a meeting for 1:00 on Monday, January 20. 1:00 came and went. I sent a text message after 1:00 asking if he was on his way to my house. I received nothing back. After 1:30, I received a phone call message that he was extremely busy and can we reschedule for 2:00. I texted back yes, that would be fine. After 2:00, Jacob arrived. We walked the project and he told me that he would text me a number (cost) with the quote to follow the next day via email. I received no further messages from Jacob. Today, Friday the 24th, I texted Jacob asking whether or not he had a quote for me and confirmed my email address. I can see that he read the message, but no word back. Unfortunately, there are contractors out there that behave this way. With as many positive reviews as Jacob had, this has taken me by complete surprise. Do not recommend this contractor for anything.

I could not be happier with our new deck and pergola. They look great! Jacob and his team were great to work with, from our initial meeting to the completion of the project. Just wrapped up a fantastic experience with this team. They not only helped us build our dream fence to help shield the *very tall* utility easement on our property from view, but also helped us with a trash hideaway, fixing a play set, and using our recycled materials to create a garden bridge. They also helped educate us about when staining needed to be done given the materials they were using and are referring us to someone who can do staining once it is ready. While they were booked out a bit in advance, it was well worth the wait.

What was my favorite thing about working with this team? They were good communicators who really listened and who also brought helpful ideas to our projects.

First, They helped us take out existing, entrenched fence posts and took great care to work with the city and local utilities in the area. As they were placing horizontal boards they double-checked with us to see how it was coming together, allowing us to adjust how the fence looked and make sure boards were on the right side of the easement. They made a suggestion to the fence's entryway that not only looked great but also created a perfect area for bench seating. When we realized how high the entryway was going to be Jacob was great about brainstorming solutions with us. There was a slight miscommunication at one point, but Jacob worked with me to help fix the problem, come up with solutions, and make it right.

When it came to the trash hideaway, they suggested a more adaptable approach for the foundation (deck blocks instead of piers) that future owners can remove more easily if they want to AND a small light that can help us see when we take the trash out at night. Our neighbors came over and were so impressed they were asking for quotes and recommendations.

They also did a beautiful job on our pond bridge using recycled materials we already had on site, which was important to me.

When they fixed our kids swing set they made suggestions that were more effective in securing the base to the ground than what I had assumed needed to be done. They also helped me come up with a solution for the old "shop" section of the playset that needed new seating. Heck Jacob even figured out how to adjust the height our aging basketball hoop that we assumed was stuck tight.

Again, overall very happy with this team both in the ways they took what I wanted seriously while also making suggestions that took this project to the next level. Am already recommending them to friends and neighbors and will reach out to them for any future fencing or decking needs.

We recently had our back fence replaced. The fence line was at the crest of a slope that marked our back property line, a bit of a challenge as our home is well below this fence line. The crew, made up of Troy, David and Clayton not only had to deal with the uneven terene but the underlying rock shelf which ran along this ridge. Not only did this crew finish the job, which included the tearout of the old fence and building of the new one, but did it in two days, and in the process managed to stay clear of all the numerius established flower gardens. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. This burkett crew gained our trust and friendship, proving their care and capability, not only with their work ethic but also their respect for us and our property, thanks.

1st of all I love my new fence! Jacob and his team were professional and did an amazing job. It looks just like I imagined it. I wanted a 4 ft picket style for the front that transitions to a 6 ft privacy in the back. I also wanted the 4 ft to gradually go to the 6 ft and it looks beautiful. They did not disappoint! Highly recommend.

Hi, yesterday Burkett Residential came out and leveled my deck, replaced some posts that were rotting and removed an old pergola. They did a fantastic job. Burkett’s was called to repair the floor. They replaced the floor in a timely fashion. They also were willing to help move items off the floor for us. When they were done they also were willing to put those items back in there place. They were very professional. I would also use them again for other repairs I might need in the future.

Jacob, Brian and Sterling were great to work with. They did an amazing job on our two decks, even with the 100° + days. They were willing to take suggestions and run with them. We ended up with two great spaces to entertain that look amazing.

So glad we came across Burkett Residential for our front porch and back deck. We got a few bids but were wanting something more personal and approachable. Jacob was speedy with his quote and getting to work. Great communicator and so very accommodating. Jacob and his team did an amazing job on our deck. They stained the existing deck (before picture included), installed a pergola, and built a privacy wall. It doesn’t even look like the same space, and is our new favorite place to hang out. All around great to work with. We’ve already hired them for more work and can’t wait to have them back!

I was referred to Burkett Residential LLC from an old coworker and friend who had nothing but wonderful things to say about Jacob and his team. We needed to replace our deck, and even though we were outside Lawrence, Jacob was willing to come out to South KC for the job. In our initial meeting, Jacob walked us through the entire process, provided options and guided us through decisions. We opted to do the demo ourselves, but Jacob and his team helped clean up a last few things we were unable to take care of.

In addition to the direct referral, my wife and I had seen all the work on Burkett Residential's social media pages, so we knew the work was going to be high quality. When Jacob and Brian arrived on site for the project, they got to work right away and continued to communicate each step of the process. We were consistently in the loop with Jacob, which kept us at ease.

Jacob and Brian (and Sterling on the final day) worked through some unfortunate conditions, as KC was experiencing temps in the 90s, but Jacob made sure he and his crew were getting the job done while also taking care of themselves.

Aside from the high quality work, Jacob also was flexible and willing to cater to our needs. We asked for a gate, and when the initial design didn't match our expectations, he adjusted and gave us the deck we wanted. He always focused on giving us the best deck for us!

Even with the hot weather, Jacob and co. finished a day ahead of schedule, which allowed us (and our dogs) to enjoy the deck sooner than expected! For the quality of the work, and the level of service, it feels like a bit of steal at the price. Nothing but positives for Jacob and the entire Burkett Residential team!

We had Jacob install a dishwasher. He was professional and thorough. He made sure not only that it was installed correctly and working before he left, and that we were satisfied with the positioning under the countertop, etc, before leaving.
