I called Free State Roofing and talked to Cauy Stallard. He gave me an estimate with in days after inspecting the roof and very straight forward about the inspection and process.
No high pressure sales pitch, he let us decide if we wanted to move forward on the new roof.
Cauy Stallard is very knowledgeable and the crew did a very professional job and they did a very good job on clean up. and best of all they have their own work crews, no sub-contractors!
The price was reasonable and had the roof done and cleanup in one day.

Very happy with the new roof. Luke kept us updated as we went through the inspections & paperwork.
Pros:
The company is good at communication, and responds quickly. The work itself was completed in one day, and the crew left my yard clean (no debris).

Cons:
I did have some trouble getting one insurance form signed, but that was resolved within a couple business days. Removing the old roof did cause some minor damage to siding on the house (one spot on the chimney) - we were warned ahead of time that this could happen depending on how the siding overlapped the shingles.

Overall, very satisfied.

The guys who roofed our house did a great job. They tore off and shingled our house in 8 hours,including the clean up.

Old roof replaced May 2025 and had 5” gutters replaced as well. Free State Roofing had the most competitive price. They also have a 30 year labor and materials warranty which is backed by the 30 year tamko materials warranty for being certified roofing contractors. I worked with Colter who made sure everything worked out. Prompt responses and quick turnaround on everything. The issues that I found were promptly fixed. Roofing crew did a good job with everything both functionally and aesthetically: ice and water shield, synthetic underlayment, attention to detail for shingle alignment and cuts (TAMKO StormFighter 4 shingle), accurate nailing, ridge vents, roof penetration (spray paint/caulk/gaskets), caulking, and chimney cutline. They replaced roof decking where needed and I think they made good decisions about what to keep and what to replace. Very quick (1-day plus a tiny bit since they ran out of roof vent shingles) and good clean up. Gutter team was also very good: very fast with bending metal on site, installation looks great, and exactly matched everything we had before including the odd drainage points (which they fixed issues on), adding two changes to existing drains to route them differently, and adding two extra drains where we did not have enough drainage. The gutter system drains well now. Very happy with the end product and ready for solar installation (by Ra Power)!

I can't say enough about the kindness and professionalism of Colter at FreeState Roofing. He went out of his way to help get a new roof on my home quickly and beautifully. The crew was extremely professional and their work looks amazing! Colter did a very thorough walk through after the job was complete to check for stray nails and make sure I was happy with the work. We encountered many interesting challenges with insurance along the way but Colter made sure to be there whenever I called on him for inspections and even reached out to them for me making sure he saw it through to the end. My wife and I were very please with the entire process. Sam gave us a thorough inspection and worked with our insurance to qualify for previous hail damage. We selected Tamko shingles in Rustic Hickory. I worked in roofing back in 1970 and Tamko was an excellent product. The roofing crew showed up at 9 am and did the tear off on the house, carport, and garage. New felt and shingles were installed during the afternoon. We were amazed that everything was completed by 4 pm. Thank you Sam and the FreeState crew. You met all of our expectations!

Working with FreeState has been awesome. Cauy and his crews were able to get a new roof on our house very quickly so that we were able to close as scheduled. I just recently hired Freestate Roofing to replace my damaged roof.
Around March the 25th my roof was damage from a wind storm.
I called FS on Monday morning and by lunch Monday I had Cauy Stallard, the sales representative, up on my roof giving me an assessment and price for repair or replacement. After having a great discussion with Cauy i decided on a brand new roof. We picked out a shingle in the next hour and the shingles arrived before the end of the day. The following day his team arrived and did my entire house in one day. They did a fantastic job from start to finish and I would recommend FS and Cauy to anyone that needs roofing repair of replacement. I did this all from the West Coast, where i live for part of the year. When i arrived in Lawrence this week and saw the job they had done I knew i made the correct choice.

Best bid by a mile. They were very professional in every step of the process. For such an invasive and messy job a new roof can be you would have never known they were even there if you did not see them in the short day it took. Thank you for your hard work!

The very best, most professional and customer service oriented roofing contractor I’ve ever worked with! Ryan Carter and David went out of their way to work with my unusual schedule to provide prompt scheduling and installation of my new roof. Not to mention jumping right in the middle of their schedule in the dead of winter and following the KC blizzard! Unfortunately, my wife discovered a water spot in our living room. Needless to say, she was not a happy camper. In response we called Free State Roofing and they answered the bell. Colter Maldonado came to our home and listened attentively to our story. Then he went into our rafters to determine if we had a leak. After his investigation, he showed us pictures, determined it was blow back and put both of us at ease. He then mentioned that he had moved some of the insulation around and would come back next week to put the insulation back and re-check the area to ensure it was truly only blow back. A week later, Colter came back, went back up, and ensured everything was clear. The young man was extremely thorough, informative and polite. Terrific experience and customer service. Definitely very impressed with Free State Roofing and Colter. Highly recommend Free State Roofing. Great job and thank you.

These guys are awesome! I worked with Ryan Carter as my consultant and David Purcell the owner to put a roof on my home in Raytown, MO. They were extremely competitively priced, identified issues prior to the installation that the other bidders did not recognize, and were very timely and efficient with the tear off and installation. There was no disruption to my landscaping, no trash left behind, no loose nails anywhere. The only thing left behind after the two day job was a beautiful new straight roof and all of the rotten and weathered decking replaced. They even straightened and leveled my existing gutters to drain properly. I would highly recommend them to friends and family.

They showed up when they said they were going to be there, got the job done and cleaned up after. Could not even tell they had been there.

Gage Anderson is absolutely the greatest sales person I have encountered in many years of home ownership. He went in my attic and on my roof and gave me an honest bid that was within my budget. He stayed in contact with me and the insurance company every step of the way, before, during and after. We had a small hiccup post installation and it was fixed the next day as promised. The roof is beautiful and I am delighted with the workmanship, the honesty and the company, right down to the helpful lady who answers the phone! As a single person these kinds of things are scary because there are lots of dishonest people in the industry. This Company does what they say they will do and corrects errors immediately. You can't ask for anything better! The installers were quick, cleaned up everything and when done it was spotless! My most hearty recommendation and thanks for allowing me to believe, again, in the honesty of companies and their representatives....now if the elves would come and power was my gutters I would believe in Santa again.

The manager was rude I got my head ripped off when I called to ask questions they didn't put on the ice and water barrier at first until the city inspector caught them and they had to redo it which would have cause me to have a lot of damage in the future when the roof was finally done my husband had to go back through and cover exposed nails himself and they never came and replaced my last vent like they were supposed to we had to buy one ourselves they where also trying to charge my insurance to remove deck material since they did my deck also but they didn't remove the deck material my husband removed it by himself. The only nice person was Ryan the sales representative.

Update after I put in my review the company called us and demanded we change our review I have not written anything that is false this is exactly what we have experienced with this company and I haven't even told everything they have done on here.

The quality of work and attention to detail was exceptional. The crew doing the work were friendly and attentive to cleanup afterward. I couldn't find one remnant of scrap or leftover material around the perimeter of the house once they were finished. Ryan answered my calls even when I know he was swamped with work, and was polite and professional, to a T. I couldn't be happier with the end result. Highly recommend them.
