I do not recommend Buffalo Roofing, they are one of the most uncommunicative, unprofessional companies I have ever dealt with.
After the spring hail storm that damaged roofs in southwest Kearney they were offering inspections and a $500 discount on replacing roofs. As they were local and were basically offing to do it for $500 dollars out of pocket I decided to go with them.
When we met to go over the contract in April I asked about an estimate for installing a ridge vent, When they called to tell me mine was scheduled for the next week in early June they told me the cost of the vent which was more than I thought I could afford so I told them not to do it and never approved the electronic estimate the sent me. When they came to do the roof they started installing it anyway, I called and reminded them I had said no. They didn't install it and told me they had repaired where they cut out for it before I stopper them. Their “repair” was to shingle over the 4” gap they had cut in the ridge of my roof. I called them and told them that was not acceptable and they did finally come out and install the vent at no charge after contacting them 2 more times about it.
They also damaged paint during tear off that I told them about yet they did nothing until they showed up 10 weeks later without calling, just showed up and started walking around my house, to supposedly look at it and offer to do touch up painting, not make sure sure all damage they caused was repaired.
At this point I was done, I fired them and told them I would take care of fixing it and deduct the cost from their bill.
The owner became verbally abusive and started threatening legal action along with lying about my having signed a contract for the ridge vent after being told this.
If you do decide to hire them make sure you go through the invoice with someone that knows enough about roofing to be able to tell if they actually did the work or not. I found multiple items that they billed for that they had not done. When I contacted them about the work that they hadn't done they claimed it was a mistake and did remove the charges. As several of my neighbors have also found work that they were billed for which wasn't done, I don't believe it was a mistake, I think they bill for everything your insurance pays for and then hope you don't realize that they didn't do it all. That also makes me wonder what else they didn't do that is not visible so I can't tell easily if it was done or not. Also make sure you insist that everything be in writing, all work to be done etc. That is a standard practice for a professional company but since they don't follow professional standards you'll have to do it yourself.
Brandon, when Mitch showed up and started wandering around my property in August without calling first to get permission your lack of respect did piss me off. I don't need a reason to tell you you can't be on my property, but your repeated trespassing on my property was causing unacceptable stress to my wife and triggering issues with her health conditions.
The damage was caused by your removal of a trim piece that was caulked in place, it extended all the way across the roof as I pointed out to Mitch in June I had been willing to overlook that as I would like to replace the siding in the relatively near future because it is old and worn. That is no longer the case as you removed it you are responsible for replacing it When I have time to repair it I will send you the bill.
The insurance claim was to replace all gutters, downspouts and extensions, so you did not provide anything that the insurance company didn't pay for and you didn't charge for. The light and ridge vent are simply you repairing what you broke.
I seriously question the integrity of a company whose owner, employees, and employees' family members review the company and leave positive reviews in order to artificially inflate the rating.
