McKinnis Roofing & Sheet Metal - Blair, NE

So far so good…only gave four stars due to a couple of hiccups.
Looking forward to the completion…

Few days later… completed. Still four stars…

- outside front bottom window panel was replaced but not painted.
- leftover white wood trim lying on lawn.
- composite decking and black rails have some type of markings which I’m unable to remove.
- front outside light above garage was damaged by roofers; needs to be repaired.

Concerns were addressed to Kevin during project; communication improved.

It’s been two days since everything was completed; no one has come yet to inspect.

Overall, aside from issues mentioned, I’m satisfied and will continue to use and recommend McKinnis.

We have used McKinnis multiple times over the last 20 years. They have either been on schedule or ahead of schedule for repairs/replacements. While there can be waiting periods after huge storms, all of the staff we have worked with have responded in a timely manner that we were pleased with. They handled everything from debating insurance companies to coming back out to correct issues found after completion. We have recommended McKinnis to clients, friends and family. We will continue to select McKinnis Roofing & Sheet Metal for our future exterior home repairs!

This was the 3rd time, 3rd house that my family has used McKinnis. They never disappointe, excellent service all around.

They met expectations in price, appointments and service. Joey the rep goes above and beyond to ensure timelines are met.

Used McKinnis a few years ago and they were great and everything went smoothly. Now I am trying to use them again for a claim and because of some staff turn over at their office my project got lost and forgotten. When I contacted McKinnis to find out what was going on, they said all the right things but here we are a month later and progress only seems to happen when I yell at them. I was under contract to have this work done back in august, and they are treating me like it was my fault for them not checking in on their staff

My roof was badly damaged by a recent storm. McKinnis came out in an emergency and quickly repaired the damage . Exceptional service and reliability. 5/5

Once again McKinnis came to the rescue to assess post storm roof condition, 2 storms in one season. The ridge line was fixed and flashing evaluated. I appreciate the support to help keep my McKinnis roof in good condition at no cost to me. I love this roof and want to keep it in great shape. Great quality products and quick installation. We were especially impressed with our salesmen Dave Scott! Dave was always there to answer our questions and treated our home as if it was his! Dave proved he is truly the best thing since sliced bread!

We've had nothing but great experiences with McKinnis! They have been easy to work with, adjust to our schedule as necessary, and are great about communicating. I would highly recommend them!

Approximately ten years ago we hired McKinnis to install vinyl siding, vinyl soffit and metal fascia on our home. Recently, after having our home re-roofed, we discovered that our attic had very little intake ventilation and it was resulting in condensation, staining our ceilings. We had to have our attic insulation removed, the attic treated for mold, and new insulation installed. With the assistance of a roofer and insulation company we have just learned that the problem occurred when McKinnis installed ventilated vinyl soffit directly on top of the OSB board soffit, severely restricting any attic intake ventilation. In addition, we found that they also did not install the soffit that we requested, but used one that provided less ventilation. They did not even install ventilated soffit in places where they should have.

McKinnis is refusing to even inspect the problem, let alone do anything about it, saying it happened too long ago. It appears that the consumer has to be an expert in vinyl siding and soffit and cannot rely on some businesses who claim to be experts.

In addition to the soffit problem, McKinnis did an awful job of applying vinyl trim to our front windows. Also, we have gotten wasps inside our home, apparently because their crew removed wood corner trim and left gaps which were not properly covered by the siding. We will now be required to have all of these gaps caulked and sealed.

Based on our experience, we certainly do not recommend McKinnis for vinyl siding and siding.

It is apparent that you did not read my review or your file, as we did NOT have McKinnis replace our roof. We employed McKinnis to install vinyl siding and soffit as well as fascia on our home. The problem with attic ventilation began when McKinnis installed ventilated vinyl soffit directly on top of the existing plywood soffit, which almost completely restricted attic ventilation intake. The issue only became obvious to us years later when another company replaced our roof and used an impermeable underlayment that trapped the air in our attic, causing condensation in cold temperatures. We had to have the vinyl soffit removed, the plywood soffit cut out and the vinyl soffit re-installed. We also had to have our attic insulation replaced and the attic treated for mold because of the condensation. All of these issues could have been avoided if McKinnis had installed the soffit correctly in the first place, either by removing the plywood entirely or cutting much of it away before installing the vinyl. We have spent about $10,000 solving problems caused by the improper installation of ventilated vinyl soffit and we believe this should be called to the attention of anyone who may be considering using your services.

This team was able to get to my facility at a moment's notice. I needed the job to be done quickly and correctly in a short time period due to weather conditions. The McKinnis team went above and beyond and were able to save me from spending great deal of money in the near future if the problem wasn't fixed. Thank you so much!

The best. They worked on renovating our downstairs after a flood and we could not be happier with their work…! Cameron was excellent and managed every step of the project. The quality of work was impeccable. They were trustworthy, tidy, professional, communicative. Everything one could hope for. They will be my first call in the future and first to recommend to others. Top notch!

Looking for a very good roofing company, look no further. We have a 110 yr old house that had a lot of different roofing issues. Out of four different roofing companies we had out, Joey at Mckinnis was the first roofing company that had the knowledge and resources for the job. Joey also dealt with the insurance adjuster so everything was then up to code and paid for. The whole process was easy and stress free with Mckinnis. The roof, gutters, etc, look fantastic, excellent craftsmanship.

The field leadership from McKinnis was excellent....they stayed on the job and worked well with the crew. The 3 man crew worked hard and 2 long days and finished with a good and functional roof section, they were even enjoyable to work with tolerating my many questions, as I had some experience in the past with roofing work. . As there were some unique air circulation problems, Cole brought in a specialist to advise on venting. The job foremen (?) Aaron was a real plus in staying with job and handling the problems that we found. The roof is much better looking and functional again...I would highly recommend this crew and this business for any job coming up.

Mc Kinnis is the absolute worst … unprofessional, careless, and rude.

As if having a fire the day after Christmas wasn’t traumatic enough, McKinnis made it terrible. Cameron swooped in 2 days after the fire and made big promises and talked a big game.

Aaron was my original project manager, who was kind and considerate. However, there was so little communication from him to all the trades who came in and out of my home that this project became awful. Aaron made multiple promises to complete the work. When he was fired, Cameron swooped in and denied all of the work that Aaron had promised and charged me way over my original bill.

The tradesmen who tramped in and out never wore foot coverings, tracking dirt and leaves in the house daily. They said they would clean it up at the end, but that never happened. Spindles were broken off my oak railing and they shoved a bobby pin inside to “fix” it. They never told me when they were coming so our house alarm was activated multiple times resulting in the police showing up at my house. Doors and windows were left unlocked multiple times when the trades were leaving for the day so I’d come home with my kids to a home that was unsecure. The lockbox they hung up was left open multiple times, with the code readable to get a key into my home. Empty pizza boxes and pop bottles were left in my kitchen regularly. They also used my toilets and had worse aim than my 3 year old, so I’d clean up grown man piss every day. Trash and chemicals were left in the bathtub where my child bathes and no information on how to clean it out.

There was never a sit-down meeting. Everything was done over text or informal conversation. I had to request meetings and even then it was like they didn’t have time for it. Cameron was arrogant, disrespectful and treated me like a naive idiot. His comments were always filled with sarcasm and very derogatory. I have never been spoken to the way he spoke at me. It got so bad, I started having a third party on the phone with me. Eventually, I refused to speak with him. Nicole handled the communication after that. Beware, if you are a single female… do not agree to meetings with Cameron alone.

They worked in my home for 7 months on a BATHROOM. And still didn’t finish. I had to get other contractors to finish the vanity install, faucets, flooring, plumbing, HVAC, and did the cleaning myself.

The McKinnis estimate was competitive. They stuck with the estimate against rising costs. Victor and his crew were very skilled and efficient. Our entire roof was done in three days, although a return visit was necessary to correctly complete the chimney flashing.

Noticed I had a small leak from sw corner gutter. Called the so called Pro’s Mc Kinnis. They sent 2 guys to fix issue. After the guys show me some silicone in gutter they cleaned it and used a different type of glue in joint. $700 later and very next rain same problem. We did this 3 more times and look at pic 10/24/21. 10/25 8:30am I call company back and speak with the person in charge of that department Dave or David. He is like would do you want us to do? Really my sw gutter is still leaking after 5 different trips from best guy in the field to management. Terrible company. I would not recommend this place.

I used McKinnis to repair water damage to my basement. Cameron Stuart and Mitch Stringer did an excellent job of coordinating with my insurance company and arranging all the repairs. All the men who did the work were professional and did a beautiful job. Cameron was excellent to work with and kept me informed of the schedule of repairs and addressed any concerns immediately. My basement turned out beautifully! I would highly recommend them!

I had to have my basement refinished after a main line back up in my house. They did amazing work. My space looks better than before it did before the line backed up. Aaron went above and beyond his job to make sure I was happy with the work being done! I would use again!!!

Working with McKenna's was a great experience. They were thorough, clean, and respectful as they repaired our church roof. I would recommend them to other businesses in the are.

The painter I hired recommended McKinnis to color match my gutters instead of painting the ones I have. A representative from Blair came to my house and told me he would get back to me in a few weeks. He did not. I called and spoke with the office. They contacted the rep again and he finally called me. He said the warehouse was behind on orders and that he would get back to me. I waited again. He never got back to me. I texted him one last time and he said he was still waiting. The whole timeline waiting for McKinnis to help me has been four months. They never have gotten back to me. And because I waited on McKinnis, my house painting project will not be happening until next year because it is now too cold to paint. If I would have just had my painter paint my trim, instead of waiting on McKinnis, my project would have been done in July or August. This is terrible business practice. The customer service at this company has been terrible. They are not a reliable company. I have been terribly inconvenienced and will be forced to stare at the terrible chipped paint all over my house for 6 more months. Don’t go with McKinnis. They let me down and will probably let you down too.

These guys were great. We had a pipe burst while we were out of town, and the guys at McKinnis had us back to normal in no time. Extremely courteous and they do great work. Could not have been happier

Damage from the May 2016 hail storm in Northwest Omaha. We had gutters, garage doors, windows and roof done by McKinnis. What we got was a parade of low bid subcontractors over the course of 4 months. I no longer recommend using these composite companies. Just hire a good inspector or adjuster then hire the contractors directly.

They replaced the garage doors and forgot to tighten all the connections. Yesterday I found another nut laying on the garage floor. Spent an hour checking all of them.

McKinnis has been my go-to roofing company the last 2 times my roof needed replacement. They offer fair pricing, quality workmanship, and super customer service. They also now do exterior work as my siding and window screens needed repair in addition to roof replacement after last year's hail storm. I highly recommend them!

Over priced, under serviced.
We had McKinnis do our roof, siding and gutters after the June 2014 hail storm in Blair. I choose them because of the great service I had received before when using their crews not sub contractors, in 2013 they put in 2 skylights & did some siding repairs, great job – however NOT the case on this job…The management of this job was deplorable from the start. Wrong products, no management, over priced, no cons cession for using sub contractors, nickeled and dimed our insurance provider to insure an increased profit. The workers showed NO respect for our property, cooking their lunch in microwaves, throwing skylights with glass still in them off our roof on to our driveway. Amazing!
We have had over 80,000.00 worth of work done on this property and McKinnis is the only company we had issues with.
We have spent hours, picking up nails and glass. Workers cut our drywall installing the exact same skylights replaced 1 year ago by the same company with them being put in place exactly as they were no damage.
If you are interested in hiring a company that will overcharge you, do an okay job, drive over your lawn, throw skylights off your roof leave stuff lay around for weeks than this is the company for you.
The work itself was okay, certainly not excellent as siding was not done in full pieces, but overall not bad, but others will do it better for less while employing workers that are provided fair pay & benefits. I am hiring another company to inspect as I have no faith in the completeness of this job.
