Buff & Coat Hardwood Floor Refinishing

David and his team absolutely transformed my kitchen by refinishing the hardwood floors. My old floors were almost yellow with age.
They were meticulous, on time and left the kitchen perfectly clean. I love these new floors and highly recommend Buff and Coat.

This is a wonderful company to use if you need your hard wood floors refinished . The owner is Dave. He is easy to work with. They refinished my daughter’s floors in her new home . The first estimate he gave was a little out of her price range . However, Dave came back and did some refiguring. By reducing the price, she was able to afford to get all the floors refinished. Dave’s help is professional and easy to work with . They show up on time and they do a great job. Her floors look awesome. I would highly recommend this company.

Just wanted to say thanks for beautiful job your guys in refinishing my floor. They clearly went through the process and asked how glossy a finish I wanted, and we picked satin. They did a thorough buff job, including by hand in corners and in the bathroom. They did a thorough vacuuming and applied sealer and topcoat. It's beautiful and looks like a brand new floor.

We were pleased with outcome of our hardwood floors which were sanded, stained and given 2 coats of poly. Dave and his team were willing to work with our dates and do the floors in two sections so that we could maintain access to the home and not have to move all of our furniture out. We are so happy with how our wood floors look now. We thought they were not going to be good after several years of deferred maintenance by previous owners. We had our floors refinished the latter part of 2020. The house is a two story colonial of about 2000 square feet.

The job: The downstairs living room, dining room, hall, closet and half-bath. Stain with polyurethane top coats. The polyurethane top coat has held up well after three seasons.

The good: Prompt. Great discussion of stain and top coat options. Low price. Overall acceptable work for the price.

The not so good:

1. Miscommunications between sales and workers resulted in unnecessary removal of and damage to dining room wainscoting quarter. It was not to be taken up. Long delay in returning after the job to fix it resulted in my reinstalling it.

2. Uneven sanding of floor has created noticeable low spots (dips). Multiple tripping of the sanding machine supply breaker may have contributed.

3. Use of a mop to apply stain left that (permanent brown stain) on every piece of door casing and baseboard. Fortunately I planned to replace some anyway however all other pieces have to be repainted. No offer from Buff and Coat to take care of this. A simple taping or better application process and attention to detail could have prevented this.

4. Minor: Many mop fibers became part of the topcoats as well as quite a few bubbles. These became less noticeable once furniture and a few months of wear were put on the floors. They are highly noticeable in bright lighting especially near walls and in non traffic areas.

I wanted to give the finish some time and wear before posting this review. The finish has seen adult traffic as well as cats racing around. Our driveway is gravel with the accompanying dust. We have rugs at all doors and often remove our shoes. The finish has done a satisfactory job dealing with this.

We would use a Buff and Coat again and do recommend them however a detailed pre-job discussion of exactly how the work is to be performed and exactly how issues will be addressed is vital.

We are so pleased with the work that Jaisson did with our daughter’s floors! The team sanded, stained and seal coated the entire first floor and buffed and coated the entire second floor. Not only do the floors look great but the work was performed on time within 4 days. Dave was very pleasant and went out of his way to work her into his tight schedule as she and family had a quick turn around time for moving into the house.

I was called a profane name after being told the price I was quoted was not enough for the company to make profit.

In response to the owners denial I have posted the text message I received from the owner Dave. You can decide if this is the type of company you want to do business with.

Ver good company owner was very polite prompt pn his appointment and William who did the work was awesome he was very polite and really took alot of time on the job he really cared about what he was doing. We would highly recommend Buff and Coat to anyone and would definitely use them again

I hired Buff & Coat to sand and refinish the floors in my 100-year-old home. I was very anxious about having this work done because there are many “quirks” to my floors such as radiator hole repairs, indentations, iron burn marks, adhesives, and poor previous repair work that would require the skill of an experienced flooring person. I was referred to several other companies with bigger/well-known names such as Costen and Tatum’s. However, I felt inclined to reach out to Buff & Coat as they had an above-average to excellent rating on Google. Dave with Buff & Coat was able to offer the most economical option of all the companies I interviewed. This made me leery, as I generally follow the “you get what you pay for” rule. After promptly responding to additional questions/concerns that I had about my floors and the potential work ahead, I felt at ease because of the confidence Dave presented in his team and choice of products. He was able to get me on the schedule promptly and accommodate splitting my home into multiple days so that I would not have to move out totally. Most other companies were requiring me to move out completely before they would consider starting the work. The job was completed on-time and I could not be happier with the end result. The “problematic” areas are no longer problems! They blend in with the rest of my flooring. The repairs were professionally done and look fantastic- better than I had expected them to look. Dust was practically nonexistent. The team was very conscientious of my home and personal property. Very happy that my old home has some new life again!

We had Buff and Coat install hardwood in our living room. The guys were on time, worked fast and did a great job. Thanks guys. Would recommend.

I must say that I can’t recommend Buff and Coat Virginia. We found them through one of the coupon mailers that often come to our neighborhood. We decided to use them after receiving other estimates from contractors because we believed hardwood floors were there specialty and we had a coupon. Extra bonus! We were told they would buff floor, polish and re-stain any scratches.

The job was completed in an hour, maybe less ( we have a ring door bell) We returned to see noticeable scratches on the floor and ultimately it looked like a good mopping from our cleaning service, not a professional job from a specialty company. When I called the owner Dave, he immediately responded that we got what we paid for and that he gave us a low price. Sir if you have a coupon available, please do not get upset when it attracts people to your business and they use it. The entire time he was argumentative and accused us of wanting a free job. We never asked for a refund, we just wanted the work that when we were sold the job we were told, would be done.

He did send one of his employees out to “fix” it later in the day. Dave’s employees have more business and customer experience skills then he has it seems. They apologized and said they were not really given details of the job they were supposed to have done originally otherwise it would have been better. I guess if you use one of their coupons they really don’t want your business and you don’t deserve quality work or customer experience.

I was very impressed with Buff & Coat and their team of workers. They came in and resanded and restained a hardwood floor that was badly bleached out by sun damage. Upon completion the floors looked brand new at about 1/5 of the cost of having new floors installed.
The entire job took about a week as after staining they had to wait and put on two coats of polyurethane. I would highly recommend them and will call them again for any future jobs.

We used Buff and Coat to sand, restain, and finish about 1500 sq ft of hardwood in our new home. They were great from start to finish! Not only were they the least expensive bid by far, we had constant communication from them and they went above and beyond. Matt was in charge of our project with Abner and both of them were so easy to work with. Matt kept us updated every step of the way, gave us multiple stain examples on the floors, and was so nice and easy to work with. They also started the job pretty much immediately and were done within five days. We couldn't have had a better experience!

Very efficient and professional. They also proactively made some recommendations to improve the wear and duration of the floors. Pleased with the outcome and appearance of the floors.

I was moving into a new place with the original, never refinished, red oak floors from the 1950’s. At the last minute I decided to get the floors refinished before I moved my furniture in. These guys squeezed me into their schedule and got the sanding and coating done quickly. Great work, reasonable price, and the floors look fresh and clean.

I was extremely pleased with Buff and Coat. They came to refinish my kitchen floor. They were very professional, courteous and they kept the dust to a minimum(almost none left after they cleaned up!). The floors look FANTASTIC and the black areas that they said would not be able to be completely erased look great- you cannot tell that the wood was messed up so badly beforehand. I would highly recommend this company!

I didn't think my hardwood floors would ever look this good again. I had deep scratches on one section of the floor and the crew very professionally replaced those sections and then buffed and coated the entire floor. You cannot tell the difference between the new sections and the old flooring. Everything is shiny and brand new and I couldn't be more pleased. The staff is friendly, prompt, and totally committed to making sure the customer is happy.
