Derek K Kalai At M K Construction did an amazing job constructing my home in Keaau Hawaii with his late father. God rest his soul. I put an offer in on it within three hours of it going on the market. Then I went around and talked to the neighbors about the process of construction. They told me if there was a natural disaster, they would be headed to my house for safety because it was so well built. Having the opportunity to make this house my home was a blessing, and could not have come at a better time for me. After the sale, Derek always made an effort to promptly deal with any concerns I had about the house of which there were only a few. The quality and care of installation of all the amenities has been noticed by all of my guests. I want to give Derek my thanks, for having the commitment and the skills to build a house I’m always anxious to return to!

Derek and his crew has been amazing throughout this whole building process from start to finish. He was able to break down obstacles for me and made my entire process manageable . He's very professional , easy to work with , flexible and family oriented. My young family finally got to move into our beautiful home late May of 2023 , while the market these days sky rocket and prices for labor and material continue to rise we didn't feel a finacial burden with him. It was awesome to be able to move into our new home before Thanksgiving!

From the very beginning when we planned to build our retirement home, Derek Kalai gave us very professional advices based on the actual weather conditions in Hawaii. He also helped us contact the designer, completed the drawings and obtained the building permit in the shortest time. Although the price of building materials has skyrocketed due to the impact of COVID-19, Derek went above and beyond to give us a very reasonable quote that allowed us to build our dream home on budget.

During the construction period, Derek fully demonstrated his knowledge and management ability, so that every phase of the construction was very logically connected, and his team members also worked very hard and efficiently. Moreover, Derek attaches great importance to the quality of the project and listens to our opinions. If there is something that does not meet the standards or our special requirements, he will definitely let the workers rework until we are satisfied. Thanks to the hard work of Derek and his team, our house was built over a month ahead of schedule.
