Big Wood Construction did a complete remodel of our townhouse here in Lincoln, NH. The work accomplished was extremely high quality, on time and with total professionalism. Big Wood will always be the first call I make with any project I have!

We hired Steven for rot removal and installation of new windows and sliding doors. The work was technically challenging as the load bearing wall was severely affected by dry rot and partly covered by the deck that is attached to the back wall of the house. The deck had to be detached from the house and part of the wall had to be jacked back up & reframed before the windows and doors could be installed. We had a number of contractor pass by and I can confidently say that Steve was by far the most knowledgeable and reasonable of all. Many people know how to cut wood and nail it together, but Steve is different from a 'normal' contractor. He thinks very deeply about how humidity affects the structural integrity of a house, how it migrates through walls and reacts with building materials. He keeps informed about new building material at shows and meetings, conducts his own test of the material before he recommends it to his clients. He considered difference in volume expansion during freezing and how that affect the stability of our deck attached to the house. Simply, he is a very thorough and smart guy and he knows what he is doing. I am quite an experienced DIY and have worked with multiple contractors on multiple properties (so I am not basing this review on wether they clean up after a day work and are on time etc...they do but that is of secondary importance). Steve is by far the best I ever worked with. He is still young, but he is the up and coming contractor in the area. Do I recommend him to you? No, because I hired him already for my next project and he is a very busy guy... ;)
