Better Than New Construction

Definitely recommend Kody and his team. They have completed a wide range of projects for us such as replacing rotted trim, house painting, installing fencing and attic insulation. The work is quality and I found Kody to be very responsive and easy to get a hold of.

When we first met Kody he seemed like someone with whom we could build a relationship as we were going to need to have a lot of work done at our beach house.
Our first warning sign should have been the fact that he didn't use a contract. We've never engaged a contractor without a signed one so we put a contract together for both parties to sign.
He gave us a projected start date, kept putting us off and was over two months late in starting our job. His crew did several items correctly but their attention to detail is poor. Some of the major issues we had with he and his crew were:
Workmanship: The trim they reused around one of the new doors was short by at least 1/2 inch because of a discrepancy between the dimension of the old door and the new. Kody's response when we brought it up to him was he'd hoped we wouldn't notice. We would've liked to have been informed so as to problem solve together.
He ordered a glass slider and the opening was on the wrong side. This was partially our fault as we missed the small print on the emailed diagram but he, being the contractor, should have caught it as he had been in the house and had seen the original slider many times. He offered to sell the incorrect door for us, and then reneged to our shock and dismay, saying he was too busy. He installed the new one at no charge and we started investigating ways to sell the incorrect one. When we went to the beach house to look at the work, I asked him where the old slider was and he told us it got broken when taking it out and couldn't be sold! He should have called to tell us that rather than us having to ask him about it. Of course the end result was that we ended up paying for two glass sliders.
We asked him to put in new trim in our bathrooms after flooring had been installed and to try to get the color close to the other stained wood in the rooms. We needed him to do it three times and the color still isn't close. We've never seen trim at corners that weren't mitered at 45 degree angles before. These were all blunt ends and look very unprofessional.
Communication: We reached out to him multiple times with no response. One of the times we were told he was out elk hunting. We then tried to reach his lead who had given us his number, and he too was out hunting.
We talked to them about kitchen cabinet handles and gave explicit written instructions as to the size for the drawers vs the large doors. They completed the job incorrectly with different sized handles without telling us. This brings us to the last point which is important:
Communication from the crew to Kody was lacking and Kody was not aware of most of the mistakes in the home because he rarely checked on the work site. Communication and a frequent presence on the job site were both listed in the contract as necessary components of the job.
