It's rare these days to find a company that values transparency and clear communication as much as they do. I have worked with Scott for approximately 10 years and have always been impressed by the level of service he provides to his customers. In today's contracting world, it is easy for homeowners to get overlooked or not heard, Scott provides the complete opposite experience. He is genuine, caring, and detail oriented. After our house was struck by two trees, Better Homes removed all of our siding, repaired exterior damage and installed new siding. They also painted the siding and doors. Overall the work was of excellent quality and demonstrated a true commitment to the effort. Communication was also extremely clear and Scott is very responsive to all questions or concerns. I am very satisfied with the work and would highly recommend Better Homes for any home improvement projects.

Better Homes Inc exceeded my expectations on every detail of my extensive, exterior renovation.

After researching about eight siding and window contractors, and seeking quotes from three, I chose Better Homes Inc. and I am extremely happy that I did. Scott and his team exceeded my expectations at every step - contract/pricing, windows, siding, painting, custom details, timeline and clean-up. I cannot overstate how anxious I was over this large and unfamiliar work so communication was a key factor for me and Scott never disappointed. He was either at the job site or called/texted me virtually every day and responded promptly when I contacted him. This may not be what everyone needs, but Scott recognized that I did and it was very reassuring during the turmoil of the renovation.

My house is small, but almost 50 years old and had two layers of siding with no underlayment. There were hundreds of nails poking through the soffit, wires and service boxes attached all over the old siding, potential dry rot and rusty bars over most of the windows and doors. Add an assertive, anxious homeowner with some unusual custom finish requests and you will understand better the challenges Better Homes Inc was facing.

Scott is very experienced, knows current building codes, and manufacturers’ installation guidelines and can clearly explain the reasoning for these necessary steps and materials. This experience also means that he also has a great variety of suggestions for sound design options and will share the pros and cons of those options. He also has good working connections with other professionals so was able to arrange for electricians and a gutter installation during the precise dates when that work needed to be completed within my project.

Since the completion of this project, more than a dozen knowledgeable neighbors have stopped by. They have complemented not just the final results, but also the quality of the workmanship they observed over the course of the full replacement of my home’s exterior. I had already recognized this, but these discussions have confirmed my own opinion - and the drive to share this experience and recommendation.

Better Homes rebuilt our deck this summer & it turned out Great! We had an idea of what we wanted, but Scott & his crew made it look easy. They were quick and efficient, using top shelf materials. Scott went out of his way to find me the exact pickets I had wanted too. After they were all done we noticed some glitches that needed a professional response & Scott showed up personally to make sure they were all fixed. I’m sad that we don’t have any more funds to keep his crews working around our home.

Scott and his crew at Better Homer Inc. did amazing work on our water damaged siding that was in turn leaking into our house. He and his crews were professional and super polite in any and all interactions. The finished product looks amazing.

Scott and his team once again delivered a stellar project in replacing our roof. They replaced our siding last year and did an excellent job. Scott leads a tight squad of friendly and hardworking folks (including the rescue squirrel), who take pride in their knowledge and care for their craft. And Scott takes good care of his team.

Scott is a perfectionist and an artist when it comes to siding. He pointed out issues that other siding companies did not, yet this did not seem to impact the quote. The project itself was very well done, and completely affordable. Scott’s crew was professional, tidy, efficient, and a joy to have around. They noticed a flashing issue that was there before we moved here, and took a whole wall down that they had just sided, to fix the issue and then reside that wall. No shortcuts taken. It looks like our house is brand new! That’s really saying a lot given that our home is more than 100 years old.

Scott and his workers did a top-notch job replacing cedar siding and painting the exterior of my house. They did excellent prep work before they painted and the house looks fantastic! They were an easy and fun bunch to.work with as well.

Superb Staff and crew. Scott worked flawlessly with our landscaper so that everything went smoothly. His electrician worked well with his crew and everything come together perfectly. Crew was neat and always cleaned up after themselves. They made sure that everything was finished and anything that needed attention was taken care of before leaving the project. Scott and his team came out to look at our siding that was causing an interior leak. He gave us a very thorough and honest overview of the issues without pressuring us to fix more than we could afford. We ended up having them fix siding, flashing, and correctly install poorly done siding which they did quickly, professionally, and it looks better than it did when the house was built! Highly recommend Better Homes.

We were very happy with Better Homes. They repaired some of our cedar channel siding. It was a tough job and they did a very nice job matching the existing material and getting it just right. Scott is a solid guy, with a great team, and I would work with him again for sure!

Scott and his team just did spot repairs on our siding. They were extremely responsive and got in quickly to accommodate the schedule of other work we need to have done, and forthright and detailed in their explanations, and their repairs look great. We're planning to hire them again for a repainting in the spring.

Update: We did hire them for the repainting, and were again thrilled with their work. A neighbor even complimented their meticulousness. We intend to continue hiring them for further projects as they come up (we'll probably want to replace a deck and some windows within the next couple years, for example).

I used (Scott Herndon) Better Homes Inc. as a subcontractor on one of my addition projects. Jose & crew were always punctual and communicated with both the homeowners and I throughout the process. Scott stayed engaged with his crew and frequently checked in person to monitor the progress and to ensure quality was being met. They installed cedar shake siding on 3 sides of the addition and tied into the existing house. Hands down one of the best siding contractors I have worked with in the Portland metro area. Prior to this, I have used Scott and his crew on many of my high end projects and they never disappoint.

Scott, Jose and Leo did a great job replacing my very old siding on the dormers and in several spots around the house. They were extremely skilled as well as being neat and friendly. If you want to preserve as much of your original siding as possible without redoing your whole house, they will do it gladly. They were able to get the siding done before winter, despite the weather being terrible, which I really appreciated.
Update: it is June, and they finished not only the paint but also replaced our failed roof. Both look beautiful. The color consultation with the extremely knowledgable Tracie made color selection much easier than imagined.
Our house required 47 gallons of paint to finish! It is not huge, but the old siding and shingles required a lot of extra work. I really appreciate the crew's care our 108 year old house, and expect this paint job and roof to last a long time.
Scott was easy to work with and gave me a realistic bid for the price, which I appreciated, as I often get low bids for work that ends up being sub par, or the bidding person never shows up to supervise the work. Scott and the crew have great communication.

Scott, Jose, & team absolutely blew us away with our finished project. Our house looks and feels like a brand-new home now. Exceptional quality of workmanship and care was given in the residing, reroofing and painting of our home. Our gas and electric bills have decreased at least 10% and our home was built in 2005 using the better offerings on the market but theirs far exceed what we had. They also provided a color stylist that helped with the exterior colors of the house. Scott was in constant communication providing updates and areas that needed additional care.

I’m super impressed with the siding and paint job done by Better Homes. I’ve been pulling into my driveway real slow just so I can look at it longer. I’m blown-away with the new Patio Cover; way nicer than I was picturing when I bought it. It’s one of the nicest rooms in the house but it’s outside! We never used that space before but now it’s a main hang-out. Thanks Scott and Crew for exceeding every expectation!
