Baymont by Wyndham Delavan Near Lake Geneva

We had an interesting time here. First, our card to unlock our room didn’t work so we had to go back to the front desk for a different one. Then we get into the room, and you could tell that it had not been cleaned… Maybe even for weeks? That was rotten food on the counter. All the bedsheets were in a pile on the floor, really strange.

So I went back down and got a different room, which the new room was fine. I do think for 100 bucks, I could’ve had a little bit better of an experience. My friend was worried about bedbugs due to the cleanliness.

Stayed only for one night and was more than enough, very disappointing to what is shown on their website pictures/descriptions, room linens were stained, bathroom/entrance hallway floor so slippery I almost fell carrying my 5month old! The air vents were VERY VERY dirty, all I did was sneeze everytime AC was going on, also AC not all that cold.

Positive: The location it was downtown near the event we came into town for Negative: It seemed to be very dirty unkept there were lightbulbs missing in our room. There is dog barking down the hallway. It had a funny smell. It just wasn?t clean. The front entrance was dirty. Windows were dirty.

It is an old hotel that has been somewhat updated. It is not the nicest hotel but it is a good value for the money. The area is great. It is in the old downtown of Delavan. Lots of little shops and stores within easy walking distance of the hotel.

TL:dr – This hotel has bed bugs, and I’m having to fight them to refund my full 2-night stay, even though I was only in the room less than one hour. UPDATE: the hotel refunded me for the two nights.

I booked a two night stay via Expedia this past weekend at Baymont by Wyndham in Delavan WI. Obviously, the rating isn’t great to start with, but I read recent reviews that indicated some renovations had happened and issues had been addressed, so I decided to give it a chance.

I did their online check-in to make the process more efficient, and I got a text message right away welcoming me and inviting me to text if I needed anything. When I showed up to the hotel around 7:15 PM on a Friday night, there wasn’t anyone at the front desk to give me the room key. I waited around for a few minutes, but I was in a hurry to drop off my stuff and get to an event. I noticed that there were documents and key cards lined up on the desk that were easily accessible to anyone. Because I was in a hurry, I grabbed my packet off the desk and got access to my room. I dropped off my stuff and left again within 10-15 minutes. I wasn’t in the room long and it was clear it wasn’t renovated, but I thought it would be fine. I didn’t see anyone at the front desk on my way out.

Around 10:15 PM, I received 3 phone calls from the hotel, but I was unavailable to answer in that moment. I texted back that I was unavailable and letting them know I had picked up my room key from the front desk earlier because no one was there, and it was left out on the desk. They responded immediately thanking me for letting them know.

I didn’t return to the hotel until 11:30 PM or so. Again, there wasn’t anyone at the front desk. I went to my room and got ready for bed.

I was in bed at 11:55 PM, and within 3 minutes I saw a bug crawling towards me on top of the comforter. I had to look up “bed bug” because I’d never seen one before, and my fears were confirmed. At 12:03 AM, I texted the number with a photo of the bed bug, and indicated I was packing up immediately. I got an auto-message that indicated no one was monitoring texts at that time. I used from bag in the ice bucket to contain the bed bug so that I could make sure I didn’t take it with me. After I was completely ready to go, I took a video of the entire state of the room. I was gearing up for the reveal of the bed bug, when I saw another one crawling on the pillow I had just been laying on.

On my way out, I ran into two employees in the lobby. I said, “This place has bed bugs, and I’m leaving." They were not surprised, and they weren’t overly apologetic or anything. One of them told me that because I hadn't booked directly, there wasn’t anything he could do about refunding me, that I would have to contact Expedia. He then said, “The last time this happened, the manager Kevin had to deal with it. Here’s his number.” And gave me a business card with his number listed.

After I got settled in another hotel that night – after waiting for an hour to make sure I didn’t have any bugs on me – I contacted Expedia via chat. They said they would have to contact the hotel first before they could refund me, and that it might take up to 72 hours.

This morning, I got an email saying they had gotten in touch with the hotel and the hotel had denied my request to make an exception to refund my stay.

UPDATE: The hotel manager Kevin called me on the same day I posted this review and agreed to refund both nights. I had to contact Expedia again, but the refund has been processed.

This place offered a good breakfast. It is a hotel that was renovated after being vacant after a fire for some years. Delavan is an upscale little town with crankshafts and nice people. The staff was very accommodating. I will be back again when I am in the the area

We had a great time staying at the Baymont. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are updated and clean. The overall ambience of the place is great. There’s a nice bar called the Arcadia. Look forward to our next stay.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Baymont by Wyndham Delavan! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, and everything about my stay was perfect. The room was spotless, comfortable, and well-maintained. The amenities were top-notch, and I felt completely at home.
A special shoutout to Kevin, the manager, who went above and beyond to ensure that my experience was nothing short of exceptional. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about making sure every guest was satisfied. His dedication and attention to detail really stood out and made a huge difference in my stay.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Delavan area. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, you won't be disappointed. I will definitely be coming back!

I'm just to clean under the beds make sure shampoo and conditioner bottles on face and make some of them toilets cleaned happy and make sure the phones work in the room and the doors locks work other than that it's a nice place to stay at I recommend it to anybody

The first room didn't have a shower curtain. Coffee maker did work, sink in the bathroom was ready to fall off the wall. They moved us to a different room, and I was worse than the first one. The mirror was sitting on the sink, not even on the wall. Then, the shower leaked from the light in the shower.

This hotel has some very hospitable employees. The hotel is clean and very accommodating. The bar and grill inside the motel is great. Our room overlooked the street and shops. There is a bakery, coffee shop and a couple restaurants within walking distance. We would stay here again.

My stepfather and I stayed at this hotel for a few weeks because our apartment caught fire so we were looking for a place to stay!we had our cat with us and last week one of the rooms on the 3rd floor had a leak on the ceiling which they didn't really care about!the heat wasn't working and the bed was so uncomfortable!even the microwave was wack because the glass thing wouldn't stay in position,the breakfast wasn't good at all either!

Positive: "" Negative: Door to room was so loud everyone in area. Could hear when u opened it. Went to take the stairs and doors were locked to get out , not safe what if a fire not supposed to use elevator. Shower handle was broken . Told front desk no response

Hotel on the main street, in the city center. No hot water, no heating in the room on the 3rd floor. Nothing works. From the bathroom, which smells of old sewage installations. I woke up at 3am from the cold. Loud music could be heard from the bar next to the hotel until 11 p.m. Breakfast is a joke, even coffee is missing. I reported these problems to the reception. This did not cause any reaction from the reception staff.

I have no idea how this place has passed inspections. The elevator has a sign stating a keycard is required to go up, which isn't true at all, that's all for show. Lobby is a mess. Just a man cave. Our sink in our bathroom was hanging on for dear life and falling apart, room reeked of weed, someones panties were left next to the ironing board in broad daylight, half the channels are locked, closets don't have doors, door to our room needs to be replaced. I'm a strong person... pushing it closed, and forcing it to open is not only annoying and takes ALOT of force to open and shut, but it disrupts other guests because it's so loud once it does open or shut. Furniture is filthy, black spots everywhere. Feels like a trap house. We didn't even get any toilet paper. I wouldn't risk using whatever they gave us anyway. We left and got a different hotel despite having this dump paid for another day. This place needs to be investigated. 2nd dude at the front desk runs the separate business within the hotel. That's sketchy af too. It feels like a scam. Place just looks disorganized and scattered. staffs' personal belongings everywhere. They spent all of their budget on the lobby, making the picture frames glow.

Also, If you love the smell of poo, stay here!

The worst part was the bathroom. It smelled like sewage. It was messy and a wreck with missing cabinet doors and exposed pipes. Also very small. Phone was broken. Stains around the room on walls or carpets. TV very small for the space. Vents in the rooms are covered in dust which drove my allergies wild.
Ice machine in lobby was broken, but the man setting up breakfast did let me into the bar to use that.
Breakfast was basic. Waffle was fine but didn't try the other hot food. Coffee was fine but ran put quickly. When you used the juice machine, the sink next to it would run. Didn't try the hot breakfast food.

Bed was clean and comfortable. Fridge worked well. Shower got hot quick and had good pressure. Free parking behind the building.

Close to Lake Geneva which was nice for working an event there but would definitely spend a bit more next time to actually have a comfortable visit.

You get what ya pay for. We stayed on the third floor, that smelled. Cleanliness not much. Many things didn't work. Our bathroom ceiling had a leak. We were able to move to the 4th floor. Smelled better. Toilet paper holder was broken. Refrigerator didn't work. We threw out a lot of good food. Only thing good was good was the staff member, Rene, made sure we were taken care off.

Wow! The Baymont Inn was exceptional this time. They painted, replaced bathroom fixtures, beds are awesome, and conveniently downtown for a walk to anything. Excellent!

Positive: Rooms were clean enough, but this is not a nice hotel. Negative: There were so many cosmetic issues with the room. The tv was trash (blurry, zoomed in screen). I didn't feel like the showers were clean enough to shower in. The bathroom had paint splatters and many cracks and just simple issues that could be fixed.

This place was a cheap find at the time and I instantly regretted that decision. The building is definitely run down and the inside/set up of the lobby is not it. So with that expectation, the rooms were really outdated. The central air system is insanely loud. It literally sounds like someone is banging a hammer on it the whole time it's on that we slept with it off. The room smells a little weird and there were stains on the sheets and furniture and walls. It was very much giving motel vibes. There's also a bar connected to the hotel which I think isn't apart of it so there's lots of traffic. Also, I believe people are literally living here. So it makes the hotel look even more tacky from the outside where you can see people's blankets covering the windows. Then it comes with staffing. In the early afternoon we did come to check in early because we were sure how late we would be back and the lady at the desk was gone from it. Hanging out inside the room behind the desk. She comes out and doesn't give normal customer service and goes straight to looking at the clock and looks back at us. Clicks some buttons. Ask for our name and was like let me check with house keeping and I go we'll were not staying. We just wanted to get this out of the way and she's like come back later then so we left at that point. Now parking is insanity. They have a parking lot in the back but no parking available because of all the traffic. It's a public lot that they give you a permit to park in and it was overly full so we still had to park on the street.

I didn’t even stay here and it’s the worst hotel management experience I’ve had in my life. I booked a room online and cancelled within hours after buying trip insurance. They would not refund my money saying they are strict with their cancellation policies and the insurance they sell is basically only good if you die or go to the hospital. They were so rude about it but after reading all of the AWFUL reviews from poor previous guests on here I’m not surprised. Glad I didn’t stay there and will be reporting them to BBB. Don’t go here.

Booked a king suite which was supposed to include a wet bar and bath tub at least. The "wet" bar was a dirty kitchen sink that had no water and wasn't even set up right. No bath tub and the standing shower had hardly any water pressure and sprayed any direction but down. The sheets and towels were clean but very small. The curtains look like they have never been cleaned or replaced. The closet barely fit the dress and suit we had brought with the ironing board they had stored in the closet. The bathroom sink took forever to drain and the bathroom itself was very small with no counter space to get ready. Only benefit was the location being so close to restaurants to eat at. Definitely expect more booking a suite.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We had three separate rooms between my friends and I and they all had similar accounts. As you can see from the photos, the room was very unkempt, there were stains all over the room, there were yellow chunks on the blackout curtain, there was a very strong smell in the hotel and in the room. My friend's room, the sheets were incredibly stained and had hair in them. The shower pressure is low and was cold, never got even close to warm. ||I checked out after my first night and got the receipt for my credit back for the following two nights and was charged for all three nights-- even AFTER the pending refund was on my account! They had refunded me and then took it away, probably hoping I wouldn't notice. I filed a dispute with my credit card company. ||Please, please, please do not stay here if you have one ounce of dignity. After reading many of the reviews, my experience is very similar to the other 1 star reviews, and now that I have to file a dispute just puts the cherry on top of NEVER AGAIN.

While we appreciate pet friendly properties, our experience was not pleasant. We were clearly given a pet friendly room because it smelled of pee as soon as we opened the door, and our dog found another dog’s bone under the bed. This is not only gross, but highly unsanitary. We make sure our dogs are on their best behavior, and it is disappointing we were not given a clean room like any other guest.

I always have a blast when we stay here. My family spends a lot of time out on the lake, and when we want to stay for a full weekend this is where we'll be. The rooms aren't anything luxurious, and they're a little outdated/beaten up, but if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep it does the job. I've never had an issue with the cleanliness here, and have never seen any bugs. (The Super 8 down the street is infested). The price is good for what you get. Bars/restaurants are within walking distance, and the karaoke bar that is attached to the hotel is a great time especially if you're with a group. We're usually the only group in there, but when the drinks get flowing, and the Karaoke gets going you're in for a good night.

This was the worst Hotel I have ever been too. The staff does not help the hotel at all in the rating. The smell you get when you first walk in screams TURN AROUND. The room we got was just nasty. Hair on the toilet, carpet and chair in the room had random stains. Dresser had spots all over. Bathroom was the size of a closet. Asked for a refund they gave it and charged my card again after I left. They said the room was up to their standards. This tells me they need to raise them standards by a million. Just because you are use to smells and filth does not mean we must deal with them. It was more like a motel instead of hotel. The pictures they have posted does not match the Hotel in person either. The location is horrible as well. The carpet going to the elevator was also missing a huge gap. The wall molding was missing in the room and halls. It was nothing about this hotel that made me even think this was ok. If i could provide -10 stars I would. This 1 star is too high for this hole in the wall of a place they want people to lay their head at.

I was in town for an event. Unfortunately a storm came thru, and the hotel lost power. I am aware that the hotel cant control the weather. However the management was extremely rude when I asked about a refund. He said it was not the owner of the hotels fault. I know this, but how you can possibly expect people to stay there without air conditioning on one of the hottest days of the year is ridiculous. Why this establishment doesn't have a back up generator is absurd. It certainly isn't my fault either that this happend. The least they could have done was offer a partial refund, or something. The management was very arrogant. We will never stay here again. The room is pitch black if you don't have a flash light you are basically stuck in the dark, sweating. Not sure how they expect you to stay for the night under these circumstances, let alone not offer some sort of compensation.

Utter travesty of an establishment. Power goes out and they wouldn’t refund our $380 one bed room ‍♂️(Dave Matthew’s band in town). Was told it “wasn’t our fault” and that the circumstances were “unfortunate”. Had a generator for the party that they were having in the basement but no generator for the hotel at all. No elevator, no lights in the stairway to get to our room and no common decency to offer LITTERALLY ANYTHING in exchange for the worst hotel experience myself and everyone with me has ever had.

Awful stay. Very rude staff. Power went out but this whack place doesn’t have a back up generator, so no AC no lights in room at all. No refund aloud. We were told to kick rocks. DO NOT STAY HERE. DO NOT GIVE THESE PPL YOUR MONEY. TERRIBLE PLACE. TERRIBLE SERVICE. STAY AWAY

There were exposed wires in the room. There was standing water in a trench under the floor in the room. There was broken furniture in the room. The breakfast area is not tended to and stocked up. Check in takes too long. Not a place to stay, especially for this price. It feels more like a cheap motel.

while we were checking in another guest was complaining to the clerk that their door had fallen off its hinges when they opened it!!! yikes... and the clerk seemed very upset with the guests, and was reluctant to give them a new room. when we first arrived to our room on the 2nd floor, the bathroom was dirty, i had to clean yellow dried pee spots off of the toilet seat before my wife could use the bathroom, the floor in the shower was very slippery, and had to use what very few towels were provided to put on the floor as to not slip and fall, and left it there for my wife and children. the window curtains wouldn't close all the way, which made my wife nervous, as the roof was accessible by a ladder that we walked past from the parking lot. the bathroom celling was missing tiles and we could see what looked like shotty repairs done to pipes and electrical. and the cob webs hanging down..room description says there was a mini fridge, but there wasn't, but there was a microwave.

We had a fantastic stay, great downtown location. The room was immaculate and generously sized, and the customer service was exceptional. Kevin assisted us with the check-in process and was absolutely outstanding—10/10 experience

This is a decent stay, rooms are fair, help is dependant on who is on duty and language you speak. I don't know where some of these people are checking but I double checked the site and I saw nothing about a pool. It does say no hot tubs, maybe they think they have a pool instead??? Also seems like a few people have a personal grudge they way they pick on every small detail of their visit. Anyway, I felt it was pretty good. Like others a few small complaints but nothing that ruins it badly. Location is nice, right downtown most things in walking distance. Plenty of local, owner run shops. If you want fast food you'll have to go about a mile or so and then you can feed your garbage gut.

This hotel by Lake Geneva is extremely exquisite. The staff is absolutely amazing & helpful. The view is astounding! Get away trip at this hotel for a family is a must!

I tried my best to like this place. It is near a cute downtown square and the people we dealt with were pleasant and they accept pets, but the room had so many issues it is impossible to recommend. The first room we were assigned reeked of marijuana smoke so we had to ask for a second room. The second room was sooo dirty my wife refused to stay there the first night. My dog started eating random bits of dog food left in the corners of the room as soon as we walked in. While trying to pick up the other pieces, I found the broken end of a crack pipe near the bathroom door as well as chewed on sucker sticks and nut shells. The bathroom vents had wadded up bits of toilet tissue stuffed into them for some reason and there were many pieces of toilet paper hanging from holes in the shower ceiling. The sink in the bathroom leaked when ran for more than a minute, dripping onto the bathroom floor. The shower stall obviously had not been scrubbed with an abrasive of any type for a long time and the edges of the shower were covered with hair and general filth. The furniture was damaged and the only chair in the room had something suspicious all over the netting that made up the back of it. When we removed the runner from the bed it was caked with dog hair from previous stays and the bed itself just didn't seem clean. On the second day, we left the card requesting new bedding and it was placed back there as if things had been changed, but they obviously hadn't as evidenced by our dog's hair where she had slept the night before. Even worse, the door hadn't been closed all the way and we simply pushed the door to open it. Luckily we hadn't left any valuables behind. The room was a good value, but just an extra ten minutes and a vacuum by someone who cared could have made a huge difference in the quality of our stay.

Stayed here over Christmas. Hotel was ok, you get what you pay for…definitely old and needs work. Our room was not fully cleaned upon arrival (napkins and tissues behind bed stand, toilet not scrubbed, hairs and soap left in shower). Smell in lobby and hallway. Breakfast not good. For us the location trumped the problems since we didn’t have a car. Walking distance to lots of restaurants, bars and shopping.

Hotel is nice for the price, rooms clean and comfortable beds, however, when we asked for a guest laundry, the desk clerk offered a service for 8.00. So we did that. The problem is when we got our laundry back nice and folded we were missing clothing items. A green hoodie to be exact. Might add that hoodie was why we needed to do laundry. My boyfriend had to leave the hotel in 21° temps without a jacket . The morning clerk and I searched the entire laundry room and it was nowhere to be found. Not happy! The breakfast was mediocre at best. The coffee was good offering several choices right down to true expresso.
Still upset about missing hoodie...

I would not recomend staying at this hotel everything was dirty the bed sheets had stains al over it and they dont change the bed sheets just put the old ones back and the room service doesnt have the hotel carts that they use for cleaning rooms they are going around with walmart shoping cart you cant fully open the bathroom because its hitting the toilet....
