Overall we are very satisfied with our newly finished basement. This is a very professional contractor, including all of their subs and employees. Everyone was respectful, accommodating, and very good at their respective trades. The overall attention to detail and precision this company provides is well worth it. The blueprint layout and detailed estimate you get up front is far more detailed than anything I got from any competitor. This ensures no major surprises for either party. ERIC CAMPBELL who worked so patiently with us to draw up our design plans and estimate is THE MAN!!! He is a wonderful person, honest, patient, and will do everything possible to work within your budget and still extract the maximum value out of your space. I couldn't recommend working with him more (he deserves a raise and promotion)!! Other members of the team that stood out that I loved working with are Viacheslav (electrician), the flooring/tile lead, and Shanae (interior designer). Now for areas of improvement: Communication and expectations of the PM could be better at times. I was assigned a PM who went ghost on me after signing the contract but before work started (I think he left the company?). I was then assigned a new PM but there was a period of time where it was difficult to get some answers. This was a bit stressful for me as I was balancing a few contractors (plumber for tankless water heater, waterproofing company etc.) schedules doing work in my basement. I did go to Eric who got things resolved pretty quick. I would also suggest that PM expectations are better defined. While I had regular contact with the PM via text, phone, email, I only saw him once during the pre-con meeting, and the final day of the project for the final inspection. I guess I had the wrong impression that the PM would be onsite more often checking in on things (to be fair, they did receive many videos/pics from the team on updates). Sometimes I did have to chase down emails, texts, phone calls to get a response but in the end my request was always addressed and in a manner that I was happy with. Overall as I said, VERY happy with the end product, price I paid, and quality of the job. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

The sub-contractors and ACH employees were wonderful to work with. They were very respectful of our home, and did very good work.

There were some issues, however. The framers accidentally punctured one of our gas lines in the basement, but NEVER let me know, and I was home. If I had not gone to look at the work, I wouldn’t have ever known. The gas line was to our stove! Luckily, we didn’t use it that day. I called our project manager, who was also unaware. Once he investigated, he found out that the framers allegedly called their supervisor, who “forgot” to call the PM. The PM did get a plumber out within 2 hours. The plumber was able to secure the gas line and came back the next day to repair the line.

Communication with our PM could have been better. He would send us a weekly schedule, stating that the current week was pretty much set in stone. However, it didn’t seem that way to us. When we questioned the PM, the answers we received felt somewhat condescending. We were told to “ask us any questions”, which we had quite a few of.

Our interior designer was fabulous! She worked with us on everything from flooring to fixtures to paint colors.

Our basement does look wonderful, and it exceeds our expectations!

Overall, we would use Basement Remodeling again.

We had our basement remodeled by Basement Remodeling between July and December 2023. We were looking for a quality company that could readily navigate the DC permit processes and having spoken to several contractors chose to work with them as they specialize in basements. In fact they do nothing else! We first engaged with Eric who worked with us patiently to come up with a project outline, scope and cost estimate we could work from. Eric's knowledge and experience in developing the project concept gave us the confidence to move forward with Basement Remodeling. The project started with a very optomisitc 11 week timeframe (which ended up closer to 5.5months) with delays mainly due to hold ups with permits. The project manager (George) was responsive and pleasant to work with (even if a little overstretched at times), whilst accomodating our every request. If there was something we weren't happy with he would haev it quickly taken care of with the final payment only due when we were 100% happy with everything. The quality of the work was excellent and everyone who has seen the finished basement has been very impressed. We did however, work with a separate architect/interior designer who helped enormously in getting the most out of the space and with the design and finishes. Whilst Basement Remodeling do have in house expertise they tend to bring in their designer at a later stage when the layout etc has already been decided at which point the opportunity to optimise the use of available space may have been lost. Overall, working with Basement Remodeling was a postive experience and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

The work was on schedule and if anything changed I was fully aware. Be sure to communicate all your details in writing so that communication is clear and precise! There were no surprises in timelines or costs. Any additional expenses were driven by my added requests. Also, Eric was always responsive and helpful in coming up with ways to meet my requests.
Renovations are, by their very nature, intrusive. But the teams that came into my house were respectful of my property and my family. One team worked later than scheduled to try to finish up before schedule, but they politely quit work upon my request.

I feel so lucky to have found Basement Remodeling to finish the basement of our new construction home. We decided not to finish our basement with the builder and about a year later we really wanted the extra space for our growing little boys. Our PM Gheorghe was outstanding and his attention to detail was very much appreciated. We had some changes to the floor plan once Gheorghe was on site before construction and the outcome was so much better then we could have imagined. We worked with Bindu to help with design selections and she went above and beyond to help us source the products we wanted. The project was finished on time and the quality of the work was top notch. After having a not so great experience with our big name home builder, it was so refreshing to work with a company that took such pride in their work and the product they deliver. All of the trades were really skilled at their craft and super respectful while working in our home. I can’t thank this company enough for such a wonderful experience and my family loves this new space.
