Edit: Owners reply is not even relevant to our experience at the store, or do I know anything about her “former employee”?

My husband is a contractor and has been coming here for a while when he has projects at the coast. Since ownership/ management changed, he’s witnessed unprofessionalism, verbal abuse to staff, and to customers as well. We will be taking our business elsewhere.

Fantastic help when looking for varios brass fittings. I was apologetic for the tedious task but the owner which I did not get her name was very assuring in my needs. Her staff was the best in my help.

Today I was extremely disappointed in the service I received at Barrelhead Supply, a local company which I have frequented since the 1970s when I was the Weatherization coordinator for Lincoln County. I have personally been friendly with both Jim, the founder and Capt'n Ted who became owner after Jim retired. I became accustomed to friendly, respectful, pleasant service from everyone I encountered at the counter, until today. I don't always know what I need, but the person behind the counter has patiently listened to what I needed to accomplish and made knowledgeable recommendations, or kindly explained what I was trying to do wasn't possible and why. Today, the man at the counter had was not particularly friendly, he was impatient and condescending and very unhelpful. I don't know if it is because I am a woman or because I am old, but I felt like my business was just too much trouble, so I took my business elsewhere. I have always left Barrelhead with answers to my questions, suggestions about what I could do and a positive feeling...not today.

They've got far More than barrels and pressure treated lumber... Tool selection has less variety, but still fills the majority of needs. If they don't have it, they can find it.

Great supply house, amazing staff! However not being open on the weekend or at the least Saturday makes doing business with them somewhat difficult. I hope they consider a change in scheduling and reap the benefits of being open on Saturdays, the other supply houses nearby are slammed on Saturdays. This is from a contractors perspective❤

Barrelhead is the best-est! Big-city inventory, Small-town prices. Big-city knowledge, Small-town friendliness. Barrelhead is a Big-city store with a Small-town big heart that cares about you and your project - big or small.

These guys are the true full experience. They are knowledgeable friendly and just make for a down right fun shopping experience.

A real home town building material place to get your stuff plus the counter people know what they have and where it is

You can tell they take pride in thier business. They don't have a lot of extra room but they use what they have. They don't have a hundred of everything, but they have a couple of everything you need. You might have to look but it's there.

Great service down there Jason and the boys took care of me quick and I was right back to work. Just the kind of service that was in the mood for!

In Newport Barrelhead is the place to go for any building and maintenance materials. It's always a pleasant experience and always find what I need in materials or advice.

They help me find the stuff I need to fix my problem with my busted furniture. Good service, will recommend

Great people to work with and I like the fact that they have been around for a long long time.

As I've added another major project to our house here, I started figuring out all the ways Barrelhead is so much easier, cheaper to work with. I completely stopped shopping at both Pro Build and Copeland for the following reasons in this order:

1. They are faster / easier to get in and out of. Especially purchasing, loading and returns. Smaller place with more people working there. Rare I wait in line.

2. Lumber quality is overall the best in town.

3. Bulk supplies are cheaper than Pro Build (or at least the same price) and always a lot cheaper than Copeland + more to choose from.

4. Selection: They have a lot more especially in plumbing and building supplies.

5. Their ACE type products are cheaper than most ACE hardware stores - they aren't an Ace, but they carry a lot of their stuff. Wish they carried more, hopefully they will in the future.

I don't even price compare anymore. I don't care if I'm spending a little more here, in the end it works out. Only negatives are some of the outdoor lumber - wish it was inside, though they are no different than anyone else in that way. Wish they were open more hours. Also, I wish they carried more hardware store type products. Mostly, I just can't complain though.

Best place in town, by far! They have a way better selection than any place else. I used to have a route of places I'd stop at (by distance from my house), but they would always end up being the place I'd find what I needed... so I started going there first, and saving myself the unnecessary stops in between. Great service!

The worst and most annoying radio commercials I have ever heard, immature and irritating. With that said however, they have a good selection and prices are decent as well...but those commercials.
