In this day and age just being the "local" business doesn't cut it. It's great that there is a strong clientele with the older generation, but rapore with the younger is as important. The customer service here is great, if you are a regular of this store for 20+ years. My experience is just grumpy men who don't make you feel welcomed. Today will be the last day I shop there, I would much rather pay more at home depot just to get friendlier staff.

The icing on the cake is asking your staff to cut wood for me, to be met with resistance and to feel like I was asking to much. You have a saw, with more than enough room. I have a jigsaw that sucks for cutting wood. I left and now am cutting my own wood with a jigsaw.

The Baker family and staff are a stable in our community. Everyone is so nice and helpful and the quality of materials is so much better than the big chain stores. If you have a question, They provide prompt 1 on 1 service and help without wasting your precious time. I always build with Baker and you should too if you want straighter wood, faster service, and better quality materials at competitive prices for all your building needs!

The woman my husband talked to when he called was unhelpful at all. He called in advance to make sure I would just pay and then get the stuff needed without needing to go to the other building. But, when I got there, they didn't have any idea what I was talking about. The guy that assisted me was helpful though but I have to drive to the other building to get the stuff my husband needed. Being someone who is busy makes this first experience not so awesome at all.

I've posted on Baker before, so I'll just add a bit more...
It's always a pleasant experience here. The staff is there to help, but not pushy or rude or errogant. I like being able to wander the warehouse and check out the products at my own pace in a free environment. If you buy a large item, it's great to be able to drive your truck into the warehouse out of the weather and load up. They've got forklifts to make things easier as well. They may not have the most extensive variety of hardwoods, but it's more than anyone else in town (to my knowledge.) They can also order items and have it on the shelf within a reasonable time... a few days or so? Thanks Baker!

How could Baker Lumber ever be rated under 5.0? My only complaint, "Baker is on the morning side of the mountain, and I am on the twilight side of the hill." I live west of Longview.

Great guys, but when ordering load of lumber and windows on Monday was told load would be there Thursday. And the two windows they didnt have would be in the following Tuesday. It was two weeks before load showed up. And month to get final two windows to find out they sold one of my windows off my load.

Best place in Kelso/Longview to purchase your lumber. Night and day difference in quality compared to the big box stores. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. They'll take their time with you in discussing your project and offer alternative ideas/suggestions. They also deliver.

The only place in town where you can buy screws by the pound instead of having to buy a little box which is expensive or a big box which is insanely expensive

Great place to shop for building supplies. Very knowledgable staff.
Greet you by first name when you come in. Some items are a little more expensive than a box store. But you do get what you pay for. (The grade of product)
Been shopping here for 30+ yrs.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

2. How much does it usually cost to replace the roof of a commercial building?

The cost to replace the roof of a commercial building typically ranges from $5 to $12 per square foot, depending on several factors such as roof size, material, labor rates, building type, and local code requirements.

3. What factors affect the overall roof repair cost?
+-

Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?
+-

Roof leak repair cost generally ranges from $300 to $800, depending on the size and location of the leak, the materials required, and labor intensity. Complex leaks involving structural repairs or interior damage will cost more.

5. What is the average flat roof repair cost for commercial buildings?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
