Aylwin Construction

We hired Aylwin to replace the roof at our condo. Their communication was great until a couple weeks into the project. What we were told would be a six week job turned into two years. The quality of workmanship was not good. The crew had very little oversight. They would show up late, take long lunches, and leave early. We ended up hiring another contractor to oversee their work and fix the many mistakes and shortcuts. Despite multiple inspections and supposed fixes, we are still finding work they charged us for but did not complete. (We have disconnected vents, stem vents that were not installed, abandoned construction debris, and tight lines that were not insulated.)

Great roofing company and I highly recommend them! Rufus and his crew were easy to work with. Good price and prompt and courteous service. The crew cleaned up every night before they left. The roof and new skylights look great and the attic fan they added really helped reduce the room temp in our southwest facing bedroom. Will definitely use them again when the need arises.

We contracted them a year ago to replace our roof and a skylight, as well as install three new skylights:
+ price was good
+ overal result is good
+ they worked fast
- - They didn't cover our brand new deck properly and tossed everything down like savages, so the entire new railing was cover with scratches (see attached pictures)
+ They reimbursed the replacement of the railing.
- - We paid for a two anchor points, but a single was installed and with the configuration of our roof, it's not safe to use, we can still end up falling on the ground.
- - We paid to replace a skylight and to install a shade. The skylight was installed, but the shade never was, so we have had the light every morning on our faces while in bed for about a year now. They never finished the work.
- - We've contacted them many times about installing the missing shade, no more answer from the owner since December and no more answer from the project manager since the beginning of March.
- They didn't tell us when they would work on replacing the skylight on top of our bedroom, so we didn't protect our bed and debris ended up on it (see attached picture)
- - We asked them to install three new skylight in the kitchen, and to place them evenly distributed along the kitchen... they were ABSOLUTELY NOT. The last skylight almost end up in the middle of the kitchen, so now we have either to place a fourth one but the we'll loose warranty, or to install a bunch of lights to compensate.

Had some substantial storm damage from the December storm of 2021, called Aylwin weeks later and within a few days has matt out to tarp the worst area and discuss my options for replacing the roof and all the sheeting. some of the critiques may not even be noticed by the average person. i worked construction for for a few years when i was younger and probably rode the guys harder than the average customer. there were a couple issues like a slip leading to a sheetrock crack and minor framing quality control problems that were for the most part completed well enough and most importantly both Rufus and Byron were on top of it and made sure the issues were addressed quickly and well done. the sheetrock for example is repaired and you can not see where the damage ever was. Problems happen on ANY job and roofing is seriously hard work. To complicate things they did a full tear off of the shingles and deck in early march when it was misting in the morning. walking on a truss with moisture in it is challenging for even a skilled journeyman. it's VERY slick. It's also worth noting that this is the second job i have had Aylwin do, first was my grandmothers in 2015 and now my own home. They are a malarkey dealer which in my opinion is one of the finest roofing shingles on the market. They use quality nails {hot galv} that are far more rust resistant than what most roofers run without extra charges and the standard underlayment is a #30 hybrid. In short, higher end materials at the regular charge price. Oh, i almost forgot, the gutters. The gutter guy they have working {Ron} is easily a 5+ star job. highly skilled journeyman level employee. one of the finest gutter hangs i have ever seen on what was a somewhat challenging install with the mounting service being a bit out of alignment on the home to start with.

Great company! They are really on top of things. They do a great job and are fair and competitive with pricing. They will make things easier for you.

I am having a Tesla solar roof installed and Aylwin was contracted to do the tear-off and replace and they did an wonderful job. I was finally able to know what/where the leak was in my roof and they were able to repair the roof with minimal costs.

Our set of townhomes just got a brand-new roof, and we couldn't be more pleased. This was a challenging project, working on 3-story buildings, and the crew was efficient, on-time every day, and conscientious about clean-up. The whole project took just short of 2 weeks. There were no surprises on the invoice, and Aylwin's quote was significantly less than the other roofing companies we contacted. We're glad to have this big job checked off the list!

As with all projects, our re-roofing required more than we thought. However, the Aylwin team and crew made it as painless as possible. They work harder than expected, keep our yard clean and safe and did everything they said they'd do on time and with care. Thank you.

Rufus (Ron) did what he said he would do. Hard working, quality workmanship, and unpretentiously personable (aka, honest). I had a problematic part of the house (replace gutter, downspout and fascia which was rotted); he was prompt and submitted a fair bid; they showed up and did quality work, fulfilling his commitment; on-time professionally and competently. I couldn't ask for anything more. Keep up the great work and thanks again!

these guys did an awesome job on our roof. i was worried about all the material that i knew had to be removed and when i got home i scoured the yard only to find absolutly no sign of there presents. quik, extremely clean, and friendly workers.

Aylwin Roofing just worked on my roof. They cleaned, repaired and added vents. They did an absolutely wonderful job. They arrived when they said they would, did fantastic work and even preprinted our new vents to match our paint so we didn’t have to paint later. They also cleaned up every they were done each day. I couldn’t recommend them more.

One year ago I had Aylwin do a complete tearoff of asphalt three tab shingles and replace all flashing, vents, and install new architectural comp shingles. The job was fast, on time, and looks amazing.

This company and workers is of good character and does great work at a reasonable price. I have several friends who had recommended Aylwin and now I recommend them to others.

This market is very busy and if you wait too far into the spring you have missed the season to get a contract with the good people. There is a reason why these guys are busy.

I'm torn on this review. We called Aylwin when our home inspector noted some issues with the roof of the home we wanted to purchase. They agreed to take a look at it on short notice during the inspection period and gave us a straightforward quote and assessment of the condition of our roof. That part we very much appreciated.

After purchasing the home we contacted them again several times to have them do the work they quoted and...no response. Radio silence. I won't speculate why we never heard back but did want to note it as it was disappointing. I'm sure they do good work but we just never got the opportunity to see it.

I called this company on September 9th to schedule a soffit replacement, roof vent repair and partial gutter replacement. A company rep came to my house on September 12th and promised a written estimate by the end of that week. He assured me the work will "be done by mid October". It's now October 9th. I have called them 4 separate times begging to schedule the job. I still can't even get an estimate out of them. They are always "going to call you right back".

I understand they are busy. Still, these people take bad customer service to a new level. They will not do the work. They will not return your calls. They will not take your money if you beg them to. It must be nice to turn away business. Since they clearly don't need the work, I suggest you call a roofer that actually wants to do the job. At least a roofer that will be honest if they can't take the job. Is there a way to give zero stars?
